The golf club is in the close vicinity of the Crab Meadow wetlands and the Long Island Sound. The golf course has several golf holes that have beautiful waterfront views. The senic golf course has an appealing and challenging layout with undulating elevation changes. The club house is quaint and very comfortable, but in a need of a face lift which I believe is in the works soon. I was invited as a guest and it was my first time out playing the game since my rib injury, so I was somewhat challenged by the track's natural beauty. This is one of the most picturesque golf courses that I have played on Long Island. I look forward to returning soon.

The passed appetizers were fun and flavorful. Areas of improvement, the main course came out and everyone at our table was served room temperature food. Unfortunately when your order consists of fish, this unfortunately makes the meal unappetizing. And the parking. The parking lot although large, is quite a distance from the rooms and up a hill. This makes it difficult when everyone is dressed up for an event. All in all I would recommend for a small event.

The course is more on the narrow side with homes sometimes on both sides. With water holes, bunkers, and sand traps, it can be a little difficult. Carts are provided, and the prices are fair.

My Dad and I loved their brunch buffet but I haven't tried that in years. Do be careful if you have a little one sleeping in the bed. There is a very narrow section between the bed and night table. And I had the coolest dream with my Dad in it, as we always used to travel to this hotel -- he said to wake up and check on my son-- he is upside down. I woke up and my little one was upside down with his head between the bed and the night table. Scary. The pillow I had put there to fill in the space had moved. Yeah, so that's a neat little story about our most recent stay at this place. (Good memories. Been coming here on and off over 25 years)

I'll admit though, I'm definitely not a single digit handicap golfer, but I do enjoy getting outside, not feeling pressured by the people behind me, and overall relaxing/taking my time. The Northport Golf Course is virtually never packed, especially during the week (obviously). I'd say the majority of golfers here are retired, veterans, older adults, and/or are generally not the best golfers in town. Green fees are $16 and you don't need any fancy town/suffolk county golf card to play here. Most of the time you can easily walk up and grab a tee time if you're a single or two-some. They do provide golf carts for an additional $20 (more money than the round!) or pull carts for a measly 3 bucks! The 9 hole Northport Golf Course is very short in general and includes only one par 5, and has an overall course par of 34. Total yardage is about 2,400 yards. The maintenance is pretty great for what it is, and you shouldn't expect much for the price/location/size honestly. To compare, the Northport GC definitely beats the Dix Hills GC on looks/appeal/course architecture/skill level. Overall, I look forward to returning to this course regularly as a single or with my friends, and absolutely recommend this course to any LI golfer on a budget and/or with a high handicap (16+)

I also think the course is kept in reasonably good shape considering how much play it gets. That said I cannot recommend to is course because it is, frankly, horribly run. They put off groups every 9 minutes and the backups on some holes extend to 2, 3 or even 4 groups. The rangers do nothing to promote pace of play. I would easily pay 50% more to have groups go off every 12 or 15 minutes. It's abundantly clear that the staff has absolutely no regard for pace of play. I understand that they have to make money, but the course is so inexpensive that they could easily charge a premium to put out fewer groups. Additionally, on one Saturday I ended up waiting on the fifth hole for 45 minutes while a group of the club's members did a shootout on the green. They did not let us play through, and in fact cursed me out when I told them they were holding us up. It added well over an hour to what was already a five hour round when you count the delays on previous holes. Mind you this was on a Saturday at noon, which is a pretty high volume time to stage such a tournament. The staff was entirely unsympathetic to our complaints. Another time, the back nine was entirely clear and they were four groups on the fourth tee. My group decided to play the completely open back nine and we were sternly yelled at by the staff and thrown off the course. I would absolutely not recommend that anyone play here, which is a shame, because the course is actually lovely.

I had a very bad experience there recently. I was putting and someone was cutting the lawn right around the green I was at. I tried to see if they could stop for a moment. The guy on the mower wouldn't stop. I approached him several times. He would not stop. He proceeded to laugh at me as I was attempting to stop him to ask him if he could stop mowing for a moment it was a joke.
