I've been playing at the Northport Golf Course (aka, the Veterans Hospital GC) way before I started my Yelping days! I'll admit though, I'm definitely not a single digit handicap golfer, but I do enjoy getting outside, not feeling pressured by the people behind me, and overall relaxing/taking my time. The Northport Golf Course is virtually never packed, especially during the week (obviously). I'd say the majority of golfers here are retired, veterans, older adults, and/or are generally not the best golfers in town. Green fees are $16 and you don't need any fancy town/suffolk county golf card to play here. Most of the time you can easily walk up and grab a tee time if you're a single or two-some. They do provide golf carts for an additional $20 (more money than the round!) or pull carts for a measly 3 bucks! The 9 hole Northport Golf Course is very short in general and includes only one par 5, and has an overall course par of 34. Total yardage is about 2,400 yards. The maintenance is pretty great for what it is, and you shouldn't expect much for the price/location/size honestly. To compare, the Northport GC definitely beats the Dix Hills GC on looks/appeal/course architecture/skill level. Overall, I look forward to returning to this course regularly as a single or with my friends, and absolutely recommend this course to any LI golfer on a budget and/or with a high handicap (16+)

The golf club is in the close vicinity of the Crab Meadow wetlands and the Long Island Sound. The golf course has several golf holes that have beautiful waterfront views. The senic golf course has an appealing and challenging layout with undulating elevation changes. The club house is quaint and very comfortable, but in a need of a face lift which I believe is in the works soon. I was invited as a guest and it was my first time out playing the game since my rib injury, so I was somewhat challenged by the track's natural beauty. This is one of the most picturesque golf courses that I have played on Long Island. I look forward to returning soon.

Not sure what they are referring to but the course is in very good condition, Fairways are full and manicured and the greens are tight and fair. There was one green on the green course today that had some brown spots but other than that, they were very good. Players need to respect the course, rake their bunkers after use and fix their ball marks and it will help everyone. . The superintendent, Donna, is always keeping things moving and working hard with her team to maintain the grounds. I have personally seen people disrespect her for trying to do her job- so unfair. Her team obviously works hard to keep up and honestly, I think she does a fantastic job with what she has and should be commended. We all pay to play this public course, help take care by doing your part so we can all enjoy it. Thank you Donna and team - keep up the good work.

It's suitable for both beginners and seasoned golfers, featuring high-accuracy simulators, virtual courses, and various training tools. This makes X-Golf an excellent place for entertainment, practice, and lessons, all within a low-pressure environment that is welcoming to new golfers. Also, a good place for experienced golfers. The venue also includes a bar area with a large rectangular seating arrangement, creating a social and comfortable atmosphere. The bartender and the golf staff were attentive and helpful, making the overall experience more enjoyable. Although it was my first time visiting, I realize I should have asked more questions to enhance my experience. I chose to play the PGA National course, which I had played in real life just last year. I was reminded of how challenging the water hazards can be. I ended up going into the water hazard three times on one hole! The terf we hit off with anything short of driver was nothing short of impeccable Kentucky blue grass. Vibe was 10 out of 10 and great quality for the $80/hr price tag. Service was annoying. We arrived five minutes late to our tee time, but our bay was not ready when we got there. It was actually dirty and they had to clean it - flag on the play; delay of game. Besides that, we told the server that we didn't need anything. They proceeded to ask us 8 more times. It's like c'mon! They even called us boring. Wildly offended by that. Then, there was an additional 2 professional delay of games when our bay stopped working. When we finally left, they then tried to pull a fast one and add more time to our already expensive bill. Overall, highly recommend coming here! Loved this place much! However, my award is 4-stars, not 5. Scrap all the staff, except the pro and the tech guy.
