Here's what happened one was 30 minutes late then when it arrived the axle light came on so the bus stopped. Without announcement we would have to wait for service to arrive Then 15 minutes the other bus arrived and the driver stopped for break just hanging out with no comprehension of what the previous passengers had been through. This is not a dependable form of transportation and the snarky, attitude from the driver make me feel like they are unhappy employees. The Sun line bus system is not a service oriented business. By far the worst transit system in California do not ride this system. Bus operators don't have no kind of customer service skills and they all seem to have bad attitudes it's crazy. my monthly pass for the sunline transit was eaten by one of the buses machines on Monday morning at 5:40 a.m. I was told by the driver who took down my information that someone would get my bus pass reissued to me and run it out to me that day. no one has reached out I have now I have called day after day after day trying to get this resolved. no one at sunline customer service or the supervisors will help at all, such as Tammy and Bianca. thank you so much sunline transit for leaving me stranded where I have no transportation to my medical appointments. I have now missed three, count them three, physical therapy appointments because of your incompetent customer service and supervisors. all of your employees are acting like I did something wrong, went in fact, it was your machine that ate my effing pass. in my opinion, this is becoming Criminal when you're leaving at low income person with no access to funds stranded from medical appointments. So, it gets better. I received a phone call yesterday evening from Tiffany at sunline Transit, who is the manager over customer service I believe. She informs me that they had talked to the driver looked at video, and found my pass in the bus that they say I was on. She tells me that they will have my pass at the front desk after 8:00 a.m. the next morning which was today. I get all the way out there which is 10 miles from my home one of the drivers almost wouldn't let me on his bus even after I told him what had happened and where I was going. I get there and am confronted by the other manager, Tammy, who is just a downright horrible, awful human being in my opinion. She has a smirk on her face and says we found your past and holds it up but it's expired by a year. I then say what are you talking about this is not my past my pastor was brand new it didn't look like this and it didn't say 2025 on the back it said February 6th 2026, the day it was activated. Tammy then, still smirking and smiling, says well this is the only one we found and so this is yours. I repeated this is not my past I want a valid pass this won't get me anywhere. Tammy says, you're right it won't. Sunline Transit says that this incident is not their fault and they are not going to replace it and that it was my responsibility and that they don't replace passes. I explained to her that this is my only way to appointments and to work as I'm finally getting to go back to work. She could have cared less along with the entire agency. Anyone who works for sunline Transit, should feel so ashamed of their customer service abilities and how they treat people when a situation was clearly not my fault. So I'm stuck stranded and paying for a faulty machine on a bus that ate my pass and sunline transits still refuses to do anything. They wouldn't even give me a pass to get home I had to walk home from their office to downtown Palm Springs which took me 4.5 hours today. Awful, horrible, criminal, just downright evil is how I look at tammy, bianca, Tiffany and the entire sunline Transit agency. These drivers are disrespectful,"some" not all are a tad bit racial. They don't respect the " Homeless" population the Driver's will drive right past you with no regards to where you might be going these drivers make their own rules to suit them and the Supervisors are not any better. I was told by one of the drivers that some of the drivers play a game on how many "Homeless people" they pass up in a day. That really got to me and if I could ever find me a Lawyer I'd shoot for a Class Action Lawsuit. I've tried using the bus system now for several months however, the STENCH of filthy buses and the laziness of some of the drivers has made me rethink saving gas and wear and tear on my car. Today 7/16/2025 I was on bus #2104 which departed from Town Center Way at 5:15Pm headed westbound into Palm Springs. Okay, I think the buses only run until 10, and hourly service isn't ideal, but the bus driver lady was sooo nice. She saw me with luggage at the bus stop trying to figure out the system (because I'm a dumb tourist) and stopped the bus even though I was turned away from the street. Then she got me to the resort where I had reservations. I wish I had thought to ask her name. It was either on the 1 or the 4 in Palm Springs. Once I got to my room, I found the MyStop app, for real time bus info, and the SunRide app for their ride-share service. I was SUPPOSED to have a rental car, but it looks like I'll be okay without one. Do watch out for scary folks around the bus stops, though. read more

I love my Sunline fam. I have been a client for over 10 years and there have been constant improvements. As a rider; I have been transported to and from my destinations by very efficient drivers. Lately, I have noticed the stress that my drivers are experiencing. Corporate contracts, negotiations and rumors of strike are surely a worry that the drivers should not have to think about while maneuvering through traffic. I really hope that the drivers are treated fairly. And I hope that the Indio route to Fantasy Springs is restored. As a Senior, Fantasy Springs is a source of entertainment for me as a retiree. The transportation alternatives; Yellow Cab of the Desert and Uber; are too expensive. read more

Sunline seldom stops anywhere clos your ultimate destination so it's best to add an extra 40-50 minutes to your compute for the time to walk the remaining distance to your destination, or plan to call a taxi to get from the nearest bus stop to where you need to go. Distance to airport from closest bus stop about 3/4 mile, distance from closest stop to pulbic swimming pool about 1/2 mile. Seriously, bring water to drink when the temperature skyrockets to searing heights to avoid a trip to the emergency room. read more

Goodness. I don't know which other bus systems some of the negative reviewers are comparing this one to, if any, but I doubt it's to major cities like L.A. or Chicago. Try using those for a week or so and see if you don't miss Sunline's drivers, usual punctuality, and comparatively clean buses. If you're going to rate the company low because of the growing number of troublesome riders they have to transport and deal with, then you're probably not a fair enough person to be writing reviews at all. Drivers aren't cops or security guards, have to concentrate on safe driving above all, and policies limit what they can do about bad behavior of riders. Considering the folks and situations they are confronted with at times, I'm impressed with how often most drivers here are cheerful or at least stoic. If it were me I'd be too tempted to give some of those disruptive idiots a push and permanent time-out on the pavement. I'd give the system four stars if their routes covered the valley better, but it's too obvious that there are areas where influence has been exerted to keep buses and bus stops far from the residents or businesses who don't want them near. One Sunline employee, off the clock, described a little of that process to me - not that I needed it confirmed. read more

Line 4 needs to be less of a wait for the bus. An hour is terrible for the wait for another bus. Other than that. It's alright.

The drivers are great but the overall service is not great, especially since they split up Route 1. The buses are consistently more than 20 minutes late. This makes it necessary for me to leave my house half an hour earlier than normal to make appointments. The my stop app is useless as it will go from saying a bus is 1 minute away to saying it's 20 minutes away with no bus having stopped. read more

I had a SunLine transit van driver knock my mailbox and knocking it off it's foundation. This accident occurred back in November /2022 and we are now at the end of January 2023, and the matter has not been resolved. All documentation has been submitted to the SunLine transit soon after the accident and the matter has not come to any final resolution. read more

Sunline lacks professionalism. Sitting on the bus stop bench I have been passed by twice already this month. They come across the wash and down the hill so fast they don't seem to be able to slow down in time, and then just blow by leaving the passenger stranded. Sunline is a private bus company, they have no responsibility whatsoever to the passengers and cow tow to the businesses in deciding routes and where bus stops are placed. Really c'mon now. Bus Driver eats breakfast and drinks from a paper togo cup while driving the bus with passengers inside. I hear and see many Bus drivers drive off and leave passengers that are only 10 feet from bus entrance, go over the speed limits, (0ver 7 minutes late from leaving stop at the chevron and then get off the bus to go inside to get food and continue back on bus while using one hand on the steering wheel while eating a breakfast burrito and drinking(to go cup) coffee while driving the bus all the way up Palm drive going NORTH to Desert Hot Springs(twice in one week), not know the name of the stop when you ask them, pass passengers waiting at the bus stop late night, tell you this bus stops here and not explain what's next. Most and if not all the bus connections are five minutes BEFORE your bus drops you off. Really sad. read more

This service is Sad Joke. Why anyone comes to the Desert to visit is a mystery. I use to visit all the time and now I know why crime is so high. They don't treat residents well here. The bus service is geared to tourist not residents who need opportunities to work and can't because many jobs are not within the service hours and drivers are rude. I have a vehicle thank God but while it was being serviced I rode bus for a few days. I feel bad for persons who rely on this. Transfer points are missed and drivers don't care. With the times being missed you need to leave an hour earlier to avoid being late in case the rider has a job or an appointment. Definitely not appreciated. Honestly it's my second time the first in the driver got lost and this time the driver was mad because I asked him how I could pay for my ticket because I only have a debit card so I downloaded the app and he still left me so I had to get an Uber from San Bernardino train station to Beaumont stop and he was still a ass he was like oh u finally figure it out like really . Sunline need to re train there employees because they treat there customers like there lower class then them because there riding the bus . My grandmother and mother had a horrible experience today with their services. Rude driver, inconsiderate behavior and now I see the worthiness of their many complaints! My grandmother is wheelchair bound and they let my mother whom cares for her out in a dirt field. Also, they were threatened they would get kicked off if they continued to complain. Horrible system the buses are never on time or when they're supposed to be the problem isn't that they're laid off in the problem is that they're early and they only run once an hour so if you get to the stop at the time or even 5 minutes before the time that the bus is supposed to be leaving you've already missed it meaning you have to wait for another hour for the next bus to get there so don't use them if you have to be anywhere at a specific time the last three times that I've requested a stop while writing this bus the driver has driven straight past my stop without even slowing down and then stopped at the next stop a mile away from where I needed to actually go with a oops as they're only response. Their lack of consideration is amazing majority of the drivers have been friendly and polite but some of them are just well let's just say there's a reason that they shouldn't work around people read more

You know this really pisses me off been waiting for over 30 min for the bus in the heat not only me but there is 3 other ppl waiting me 1 elderly man, 1 teen who has a work shirt on, and a women they all look confused looking down the street and I can tell we all have somewhere to be or just want to get home!
