Watch out for this company! They extensively advertise on my favorite radio station, KFI. They claim that not only do they sell and install solar systems, they are a certified roofing contractor. I was considering installing a solar system but also needed a new roof on my house. Their salesman came to our home on August 1 and submitted both a Solar panel proposal and a separate roofing contract proposal for $12,745. We decided that it didn't make economic sense to install the solar panels because we don't use enough electricity to justify the $26,000+. solar panel cost tha However, I notified the salesman that we would agree to the roofing contract and we sent the company the $1,000 deposit that they requested. Later, we were advised that they had made a mistake and had not considered the full square footage of our roof. We waited a few weeks for the promised revised contract. We never received the revised contract but instead got a text that it would take $28,000 for them to do the roof job!!!! Although Garrett Kramer From SunLux customer service posted that he had received our review and would be working with us to try to resolve our complaints, after fumbling around for a few weeks he came back to us and advised that the contract would have to be revise to $28,000 instead of $12,745. When we refused to accept the proposed modification, Garrett indicated the contract was voided!! This is despite the fact it was signed by Sunlux and is not "voidable" without our consent. We are going forward with arbitration to enforce our legal rights. I certainly would stay away from this company. read more

I had my solar panels installed and approved for running. The problem now is customer service regarding the LG box's that allows me to monitor my panels. This box has not worked and I've called and emailed and texted. Jessica has not responded in the pass two weeks. I just want to be able to monitor my panels. My wife and I did a lot of research on the very many solar companies servicing our area. We decided on Sunlux. We met with Mike Valencia and went over the numbers. Not only was Sunlux the lowest pricing while offering the most servicing, but Mike's integrity was refreshing. Other companies that submitted a bid included an additional ten panels at significant extra cost. When I asked Mike why his bid reflected less panels, he explained that in the late afternoon our neighbor's palm tree cast enough shade that the additional cost would not be worthwhile. The installation crew finished up in one day, taking their mess with them. I have had minimal problems that have been addressed right away. Don't trust SunLux. They are not "experts in roofing" They're just out to make a easy buck on easy projects only. The salesman was great but the company couldn't back it up. I took entire morning off from work to meet their roofing manager for our project as scheduled and they never showed up. We followed up and they said that they decided the job was too complicated so they weren't gonna do it so they didn't come . They didn't have the courtesy to contact us and cancel appointment. Very disappointed and so annoyed to keep hearing their false adds on radio. pS our roof is rolled composite , on a very low pitch. Called to schedule someone to come out, answered all their questions and got a date over a week out which was ok was hoping for sooner, they requested a copy of my bill which I sent once I got home, got a message the bill copy wasn't clear enough? Funny the other solar company i sent it to had no problem with the same copy? Re-sent another copy and was then told sorry your original appointment isn't available because you didn't get us a clear copy of the bill, seriously? I re-sent once I got message and they cancel my appointment and try and schedule me out even farther on a date that isn't convenient for me. Having worked directly and indirectly with many contractors and Solar companies across the Inland Empire, I found Sunlux to be the absolute BEST in the business. After working in the industry for more than 5 years I finally decided to pull the trigger and have solar installed. Without question my go-to company was SunLux. Solid team, straight up, Honest, transparent, high integrity, and the best financing options available. My solar got installed this week and about 4 weeks after signing up. The install team knocked out 22 panels in about 4 hours and left my house cleaner than when they arrived. Seriously.. they swept my entire driveway. We are in LA County. Our overall experience is a 3 because the service was so uneven, they wasted a lot of our time by making appointments that did nothing and they charged a premium price. On the plus side, the final equipment seems to be working and the people are all very nice. We chose this company and paid their higher price because of all their great reviews, they said they could substantially complete the installation in two months, and it looked like they were likely to be around long enough to ensure any warranty services. We think they are now growing so fast that they can't really service all their accounts. We signed the initial contract March 2 and got our final approvals to operate from SoCal Electric on August 22 - almost 6 months. Note the last month wait is probably the fault of a dysfunctional SoCal Edison not Sunlux. We also acknowledge that ours was a difficult installation due to the steep roof and cement tiles, but they knew all this when they signed the contract. Engineering Issues: The evaluator they sent out to assess our roof and equipment for the installation was there 5 hours, broke several roof tiles and got most all of the information wrong. He was also very nice. When the installation plan came back for our signature, it was all wrong and took weeks to correct. The electrical panel was shown on the wrong side of the house; they wanted to access the electrical panel through an attic that was 9 inches high and the equipment which makes annoying sounds was placed under the master bedroom window. After weeks of back and forth emails, calls, pictures and drawings, they finally sent out the head electrician who agreed that our suggested installation plan was the easiest one and he was very nice. Installation Issues: After a few false starts and emails just about every day, the initial installation with the head electrician went pretty well, the crew was creative in trying to meet our requirements for the battery circuits and they were very nice. They didn't finish that week, probably due to the fact they were called away to other jobs, were late some days, the roof was steep, and it was hot. It was weeks before they actually made it back to finish the installation, though they kept scheduling and cancelling. I can't tell you how many appointments didn't work out: everything from their truck broke down or they were called to another job to they arrived without the skills, equipment, or parts to do the job. I stopped counting the wasted appointments. After dozens of complaints, emails and phone calls, one of the electricians finally took pity on us and turned the system on around the end of June, about 2 months after our contract said they should be done. The broken roof tiles still weren't replaced, or the outside conduit painted. These fixes would take another six weeks or so for them to get the right combination of the correct roof tiles, paint and installers who knew what they were doing. When they did, they were done in less than two hours. Contract Issues: Warning: the biggest payment was due when they started the installation of the solar panels, not when they finished the installation. We naively paid them the morning they stated, so they had no real incentive to finish the installation. Also, we got a notice from the solar equipment supplier that they might put a lien on our property if they weren't paid. So, split the big payment up or don't pay the installer the big bucks until the subcontractors/suppliers are paid and the job is done or make your check out to both the equipment supplier and your installer. Warning: The final payment should not be due until all the work is completed and the system is operating correctly. Our contract said they got the final payment when the final electrical inspection was done, not when all the work was done. And if we want to add to our solar system in the future, we may have no choice but to use them again as it seems they actually control our solar system, we don't. We sure didn't understand that when we signed up either. And they are all very nice. Learn from our mistakes. read more

I've had a SunLux system for three years. I chose SunLux because of their warranty. When my 3G cell phone connection expired, SunLux replaced it with a 5G connection under their warranty at no charge. I have a Tesla unit at my other property. SunLux was a much better vendor in all respects --- especially in the way that they handled the 3G problem. I'd recommend them without reservation to anyone. In 2020 we received great customer service with updates, emails, etc.. Although SunRun through Costco was our first choice, Sunlux seemed personable, cheaper, and their commercials played on my favorite radio station Jon and Ken show. We signed up for solar panels with a battery backup but quickly after signing the contract we were told they didn't have any available batteries. For two years we had to ask about battery updates. Finally 2022 I wasn't so sure it was going to happen and emailed every single person that worked there it seemed to get an answer. Customer service went from excellent to nonexistent real fast. Felt like I was a bill collector trying to find out information . Once we got an update on battery... now in 2022 ....the new price went up by a few thousand AND it wasn't even in stock but was "expected by" something I didn't trust after two years on waiting. It would also have been nice if price increase was explained but when my husband brought up the difference and the fact that it was less in our original contract, we were again ignored. At the end of the day we found a Tesla battery at Solar Optimum for cheaper anyhow. read more

Sunlux did an adequate job of installing solar panels and coordinating the service with the power company. However I could NOT recommend this company under any circumstances. 1) Bait and switch: After contacting multiple solar installers and being told that panels could not be installed on our decorative metal roof, we found a company (Sunlux) who said they could and would, with their roofing department, accomplish a complete removal of our existing (life time warrantied) roof, repair/replace any deteriorated materials, and re install the original roof, building the solar panels into the roof line. We signed up. Work was to begin 11-11-19. Nobody showed. The next day a crew showed up, climbed on the top of the house and began tearing off the metal roof when I approached them the foreman said he had to go to the store to get hammers as they thought they were removing a tile roof. I saw this "supervisor" only twice more in the coming months. After many calls I was told Sunlux had subbed out the job to another company that was certified to work with our special roofing material. The job was to take "about a week". 2) POOR Communication: Sunlux kept passing the buck to the sub who said it was Sunlux's fault. One disaster after another as the removal of the old roofing material precipitated ¼ inch of debris on the unprotected interior of the house (furniture, electronics, original art, Navajo and Persian rugs and our rare book collection all had to be reconditioned) the extent of Sunlux's efforts was an evening of house cleaning after the fact a week later. Installation of plywood sheeting (an extra charge) sent hundreds of nails through the lapboard ceiling directly into the living area and the eaves of our entryway. At this point I heard separately from Sunlux that they were unhappy and would not be using this particular roofing company again but did not want them to know that just yet, and from the roofing sub that they were not happy with the crew that was working on our house, would not be using them in the future but did not want them to know this just yet. Being frustrated to the edge of sanity we had the principals of Sunlux and owner of the roofing company that had been hired for a site visit. The job had been so botched and the materials destroyed to the point that they could not be used and this roofing contractor tried twice more to correct the install with composition shingles as opposed to the contracted designer roofing material. At this point (my bad) I paid for the project under the promise that Sunlux's roofing department would come out and make good on finishing the shingle job. Demanding immediate payment was the ONLY occasion that Sunlux repeatedly initiated phone contact with us even though they knew we were on a week long vacation in an area with sketchy cell reception. 3) LIES: There was NO roofing department and they hadn't had one since the project began. I asked how much the project would have cost if I actually wanted a shingle reroofing. AGAIN no return phone call. 4) Bad business ethics: We attempted to get an independent bid on repairs and corrections to the botched install and ended up hiring ($$$$) a consultant to detail the deficiencies and recommend corrections. Months later, armed with the consultant's report Sunlux sent a new roofing contractor who's representative said the job would have to be scrapped, everything removed and completely redone. Sunlux would have no part of this and it took another on site meeting with the manufacturer's representative, owner of the roofing company and an owner from Sunlux to develop a punch list to finalize this fiasco. The roofers completed 75% of the work stopping short of some trim install to hide unsightly areas where siding damage was visible due to the difference of using shingles instead of the contracted reinstall of the metal roofing. When this LAST agreed deficiency was pointed out Sunlux refused to come through with this last little bit of the promised work. This went on for a year and still leaves a bad taste in our mouths. It caused us to "cancel" Christmas in 2019 and wreaked havoc with our lives for months and through the beginning of the pandemic as well. We are not litigious people, however we were left with an end product we had not contracted for or happy with and are out thousands of dollars just to find out that we overpaid for a roof that many reputable companies could have accomplished. Our only consolation is that this review might dissuade someone from engaging in business with these charlatans. read more

Obviously, they did a great job on the install, super nice, etc. On my one year anniversary of solar, I got a small check back from SCE, which means that the calculation of solar panels was absolutely spot on-- Goldilocks, not too many, not too few!!!! MORE IMPORTANTLY, they have the best warranty in the business-- 25 years "bumper to bumper". They use the Solar Edge phone app so that I can monitor the power production which is very cool and I watched it for a while, but I got bored because every thing was going so great! MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!! SUNLUX WATCHES THE SOLAR EDGE APP for you and two weeks ago, out of the blue, Garrett, the owner, sent me an email saying that one of my inverters (I have 55 panels) was underperforming and that he was going to replace it!!!! READ THAT AGAIN! What an amazing business man!!!! What a great company!!!!! HONESTLY, I chose them because they had THE BEST PRICE and the BEST WARRANTY, although I never thought I would need the warranty. Our solar system from SunLux went live recently. From our initial sales consultation to the completed install was just a little more than 6 weeks, which is excellent. It could have been a week earlier if our family had not been out of town. SunLux was competitive with their quotes, and while the final $/Watt was not the absolute lowest of all the bids we received, we signed with SunLux because we wanted to support a local company that has done positive work in the community. The install crew was professional, pleasant and worked efficiently. Props especially to Anthony who made several trips after the main PV panel install to finish the install and replace broken roof tiles. We had one primary issue of concern during the install. I noticed that the install team had brought a smaller inverter than what was written in our agreement. No mention of this change had been communicated to us. This necessitated several calls to the company, but in the end Guillermo (one of the company owners) agreed to switch us back to the inverter that was listed in our signed contract. I do not believe this was an attempted cost saving move on the part of the company; I noted that the inverter that the install team had originally brought came with a Revenue Grade Meter, and actually retails for a higher price than the inverter we wanted. For most homes, the smaller inverter would have been fine and is within the recommended range for our size PV array, but our roof has almost no shading issues and a nearly ideal orientation for solar, and the smaller inverter would have artificially limited our overall production by a small but measureable percentage. With the higher capacity inverter installed, our first full days of logged production were great, and the completed system performed exceptionally well. While we are very pleased with the final result, we were disappointed about the unexpected inverter switch and that the company did not provide any notice about the change; we had to discover the change ourselves. We did appreciate that Guillermo consistently maintained an attitude of, "We will make sure that we make things right," and in the end, the results did meet our expectations. Choosing a Solar company is very difficult. We went with Sunlux because of their 25 year warranty. None of the other solar providers could offer anything comparable. While our initial installation was difficult, after contacting Sunlux Customer Service all was corrected and completed. Garrett worked with me and PG&E to get our meters working properly. Sunlux monitors the usage and provides us with great information whenever I have questions. The best part is we no longer have a PG&E bill over $10.00. We found out in August that our solar inverter was malfunctioning and had to be replaced. Our system was under warranty and I was told the inverter would be removed/replaced by Solar Edge. While Solar Edge sent me the replacement inverter within a few weeks, when I tried contacting them for a replacement date there was no response. We spent the next several weeks going back and forth with Solar Edge to no avail. In the interim our system was not generating power so our SCE bill was continuing to increase. We decided to each out to Sunlux, while it took some time for them to get back with us, it was Mike Valencia who was very helpful in getting the new inverter replaced. While Solar Edge did finally reach out with a date (1/2/2023), it was Mike and his team who proactively took the initiative to replace the inverter two months before Solar Edges date. My wife and I want to thank Mike for taking care of this, it was his communication, continued focus to our issue, and engaging customer service that made this very difficult situation so much better and why I would still recommend this company! read more

When I first decided to purchase a solar system, I conducted extensive research on different companies, including reading on-line reviews and asking existing customers in my neighborhood. I also obtained estimates from four different companies, before finally deciding on Sunlux. I found Sunlux's prize to be compatible or better than the other companies and I was pleased with the Energy Consultant (Fernando Cano) I met with. During the entire process of obtaining permits, financing and installation, I was very pleased with everyone I dealt with, as they were very professional and courteous. There were two minor glitches during the entire process, but ultimately everything was resolved to my satisfaction. One of these glitches was a misunderstanding and/or miscommunication regarding the interest rate on the financing. In the process of resolving this issue, Fernando Cano verbally offered to also install a Ring doorbell at my residence free of charge. Once the system was installed, so was the Ring doorbell and I absolutely love it. The other glitch occurred on installation day when, apparently, the equipment truck destined for my house, sustained a flat tire. This caused the Sunlux employees to arrive late at my residence, which in turn caused them to return the following day (Saturday morning) to finish the job. I like to sleep in late on Saturday mornings, but it is nearly impossible to do so while solar panels are being installed on your roof. Once again, this was something minor and probably beyond anyone's control. I believe that the bottom line to fairly reviewing any company is to ask your self two important questions after having done business with said company. #1. "Would I do business with this company again?" and #2. "Would I recommend this company to others?" The answer to both of my questions, "Yes I would". read more

One star for service We had SunLux install 22 solar panels on our home in late 2018, the first year was good, then in early 2020 a couple of panels went bonkers and within a couple of weeks Sunlux sent out a technician to replace the panels that went bonkers.  That was good to fair service.  The reason I said fair service was because I had to notify them the panels were not working. Then in August of this year 11 of the 22 panels also went south.  I don't know if it's the panels or the Inverter, but for the past month I have been trying to get Sunlux to do the right thing and come out and repair whatever is wrong with the panels/inverter.  Another complaint is they are supposed to be monitoring the solar system.  I don't think they are, because again, I had to contact them of the problem.  I keep getting the runaround as to when a technician will come out and do the repairs. 5 stars on install, 1 star on followup service read more
