Its studios are in Pensacola and its transmitter is in Robertsdale, Alabama. It's one of my go-to stations for a nice mix of classic rock when in my car. From Queen to The Beatles or James Taylor to Led Zeppelin it's a mix that works for my drive time. For a "big radio" station they have a good local vibe with contests, local band and charity support without a lot of unnecessary or gratuitous chit chat and clutter. As a former radio guy I am not a fan of these "big radio" conglomerates like Cumulus that has 415 owned-and-operated stations across 86 markets and are partners with nearly 7,300 affiliated stations through Westwood One, which is the largest audio network in America. I've got a very strong opinion about the negatives of big companies gobbling up radio stations over the years, but I digress. On-air include Maria Danza mid-day's, and the rest of the day into the night are a couple real renaissance radio dudes with Steve Taylor doing afternoon drive and Steve Millin on PM's. Their morning show is a syndicated show Bob & Tom, not my cup of tea, but I gotta give these guys props. It's Bob Kevoian and Tom Griswold from their home station WFBQ, in Indianapolis, where they've been since 1983, and syndicated nationally since 1995, nicely done guys. I wish there would be more Metal, such as Megadeth and Iron Maiden, but at least they play Metallica. Most of their format consists of Alternative Rock, which is fine, it's still Rock. I called and voiced my disapproval with the insertion of some Rap/Hip Hop and Rap Rock, but I was told it was not a format change, just keeping things fresh. Okay, I'm not really your target audience due to my age of 69, but I still like to Rock and I appreciate there is still a Rock Station in the area. The positive is this station simulcasts a few decent hard rock/metal shows. As of this evening new music from In this Moment, Crobot, The HU and FFDP on Hard drive. Occasionally throwing in some old school from bands like Prong and Corrosion of Conformity. The question is why does someone have to listen to shows like this to hear new Hard Rock? 2.75 stars because at least they carry some decent simulcast radio shows.

I had an hour or so until an emergency weather alert punched through and then I was watching the radar. In that time, it was Kelly Clarkson and Journey and Pink and Prince that I can recall. Other than reminders during the commercials that I could take the Mix with me if I'd only download the iHeart radio app, it was fine. They syndicate for Delilah on weekends.
