A nice vegan-friendly place! I have been coming here for a while now; I love the service. The food is yummy! Their choices are plentiful. The price is a bit higher than I am used to, especially for the portion sizes. My personal favorites are the big veggie egg roll, the orange cauliflower, fire pepper "shreemp", and the potato tacos. All the agua frescas are refreshing. They have specials from time to time for a nice discounted rate. They are introducing new items every time I arrive.

Really good hidden vegan Mexican/Chinese spot in Compton, across the street from Compton Court House. They have vegan and non vegan options for both Mexican and Chinese dishes. Friendly customer service and really good food.

This place is so good! my friend and i went here, looking for vegan spots around the area and found them on google. we're both mexican and loved that they had a ton of mexican vegan options. they also have a whole vegan chinese menu to choose from as well that i can't wait to try! these were also extremely friendly and nice people, and definitely made a customer out of us. the food was amazing and i can't wait to go back a try more of their food.

Second time visiting here and things have drastically changed within less than a year. My first experience was above and beyond. This time around, may be our last. My partner and I ordered in person off their plant-based (Vegan) menu. This is what we only order and ordered this the first time as well. When we first got there, it was completely different than what we remembered. No greeting whatsoever, no one said hello or acknowledged we were there. No warm welcome like it used to be. After finally deciding, we said "excuse me" to the gentleman behind the counter with his back turned. No answer. We said "hola" and then he said "I'll be right with you" still with his back turned. He was more worried about tying the bag on his pickup order. He finally took our order and we paid. We realized that the receipt had extra charges. We orders two combos and noticed that one of the combo prices was more than the other. When we got our food we asked the owner why there was an additional charge to one of the combos and he said the prices have gone up and his supplier was up charging him. We told him we didn't see it on the menu, nor did he mention anything about that. He said "they just changed it today". Lol umm in my head I'm thinking (when? Just now when we walked in?) The price just suddenly changed on us monitors before we ordered lol. He made up some reason like the costs had gone up that same day--which I call bull. There is also an electronic payment charge that was not mentioned (normally vendors mention this just in case we have cash), but he said nothing. So whatever we took our food and left. The worse part is the food wasn't what it used to be. It wasn't even that good like we remembered. The quality of food has definitely gone down. If the cost of plant-based ingredients is too much for the business owner, it should just be removed from the menu. The food tasted mediocre, lacked flavor like some of the mock meat came out of a can and dumped in the pan with vegetables. The fried "shrimps" were not seasoned either. The chowmein was old and hard and the fried rice was bad. Most of the items look pre-cooked and reheated back with other ingredients made to order. But it's not that great. The menu and the item prices at the restaurant are unclear. It doesn't really clarify or specify what things costs and for what portions. My suggestion before ordering is to ask first. The prices in person are also different online. So order accordingly. Probably will not be returning. The customer service downgraded a lot, and the food is now mediocre as well.

I've been coming to Sunny Express for 5 years now and I've never had a bad experience! the staff are so attentive and friendly; the food is always tasty and flavorful; and the love for community is always there. they have a full vegan and non-vegan menu. as a now 12-year vegetarian, that eats mainly vegan by default, I love exploring my community and finding local businesses. sunny express is truly a community staple, the vibes are always familial every time I come. they tend to have off-menu items available if you go in person to order - just an fyi! + a lil market of vegan proteins if you're having trouble locating a few meat mockups that you'd like to cook with.

Great food and service. Will definitely be back. The orange chicken was my favorite. The green salsa on the enchiladas was very flavorful

First time visiting and it was delicious! Great meeting Tony who was very nice and offered me a free agua fresca half watermelon and half passion fruit so good. I usually drive to Whittier for vegan Chinese food so im glad there's a spot in Compton. The orange nuggets was so good and the fried shrimp was good too. The broccoli "beef" was not my favorite. But overall food was good!

Great concept for vegans and non vegans as they have both types of menus. Food is cooked fresh to order and it's helpful to call in advance! Food wasn't overly salted either. I would order again. It's nice to have this option in the community.

First walking in your greeted with a beautiful warm welcome from Rigo, great service and attitude. I asked for one of the best dishes and I got the Lomo Saltado with chicken, which was full of flavor and texture. Love the sauce it came with also. Such a unique establishment.

Located right across from the courthouse, you might overlook this hidden gem! But the moment you walk inside, the aroma of comfort food will take over your senses. They serve both Mexican and Chinese food all day, I went for breakfast with my friend. I ordered the omelette with vegan bacon and she got the breakfast burrito with vegan sausage. Both of our food was made quickly and came out nice and hot. First bite was amazing, they had bell peppers, onions and tomatoes inside as well. The vegan bacon they used resembled "ham" more so than "bacon" but it was still delicious. Even after being full we still kept trying to finish our food because everything was so delicious. I took a bite of my friends burrito and was wowed all over again. I'm absolutely coming back to try the Chinese food because such great service and food lives here!

The food was very good, hot and cooked to order. None of the food was over cooked, too salty or too greasy. Something I only remember happening nearly 40 years ago. The chef came to our table and asked if we enjoyed our food. The seating area was clean and the food and drinks were brought out to us, with a very cold and filtered water. I didn't even ask for the water but was very happy to have it. The only reason I didn't give it five stars, (and this may be a bit too picky). I didn't quite like the location. Not the kind of area I would visit late in the day.

Sunny's always delivers. Updating with more pics. I have tried a few more items but these are some of my favorites. They have aqua frescas - I love the watermelon or passion fruit, and my homie usually gets Jamaica or horchata. In addition, they have vegan pizzas, and vegan desserts that can vary but usually a chocolate cake, carrot cake, and tiramisu. I've always been treated like a good friend when I go. The guys are clearly passionate about what they do and the food is on point every time. My friend ordered some platters for her birthday party and they were super accommodating with amazing customer service. They make efforts to boost the decor best they can if you dine in with cloth napkins and really dope crockery (the picture of the lomo saltado was in house dining - I could drink the sauce that comes with it haha). Please help me support this amazing business cuz the hood needs delicious vegan options too!

The execution was lacking... They must have been short staffed or something but it took quite a while to order and much longer to actually get our food. And when the food started coming, things were forgotten or mixed up. Lots of confusion. In terms of food quality, I loved the Cajun shrimp. I had greens and Mac n cheese with my plate, and it came with cornbread. Cornbread was great. Mac n cheese was okay. And the greens were not good--tasted like they were sweetened. The fried oyster mushrooms were crispy but I wasn't a fan of the batter and seasoning. The bbq sauce it came with was good--I think I would have preferred hot sauce. I ordered the peach shortcake to go, but refrigerated it and ate it two days later. I don't know if the lack of freshness is what made it not good, but I wasn't not a fan. I threw that away :-/

As Alison C. pointed out, "Chinollo is very unique because it's the owner is Cuban born, Peruvian raised and of Chinese heritage, so the menu is a mix of Latin American and Asian fusion." All credits to them for this because the menu makes so much sense in that light. There are 2 different and super convenient ways to order: If you want to talk to someone, you can go up to the cashiers; if you don't want to talk to anyone, there are 2 self-service kiosks. While there is seating indoors, I've always come after work hours and at that time, it seems to be primarily a to-go restaurant. I've been slowly working my way through their Wonder Bowls option - and what I've tried so far are: 0. Base options: Rice, ancient grains (mix of quinoa and other grains), raw greens, garlic noodle, or even a half-half combo of any two options. I agree with Belle C.'s comment about the garlic noodles in that it's "not garlicky enough for me, but maybe it's meant for the white American palate)". Go to any Asian restaurant, Chinese, Indo-Chinese, Viet, and the garlic noodles have tonnes of fragrant & noticeable garlic in it while this simply did not. I like getting rice or ancient grains (for extra fibre) as my base over the greens or garlic noodles. Overall, a great spot with fast & lovely service, healthy & delicious portions of food (enough for two meals for me), and delicious drinks that I recommend especially for to-go orders after work. Also lovely for workers nearby to sit down or get something quick, filing, and tasty! 1. Baja Bowl (GF, RV): Choice of base. Black beans, sweet corn, avocado, cashew-chipotle sauce, pico de gallo. Choice of free-range chicken, organic tofu or pulled pork. For steak add $1. Other choices of protein also available. I love getting this with tofu for an extra dose of fibre from veggies; that sweetness of sweet corn with the salty-creaminess of the black beans go so well with the creamy sauce. 2. Farm Veggie Bowl (V): Vegan. Choice of base. Best of season grilled vegetables, cashew-chipotle sauce, hydro watercress. Add black beans on request. Available: add protein of choice. One of my favourite veggie bowls; I do recommend adding the black beans for more fibre & protein. Such a delicious and filling bowl that's fresh. 3. Chico Cubano (GF, RV): Choice of base. Pulled pork Cuban style, mojo criollo sauce, black beans, red pickled onions, parsley, sweet plantains. other choices of proteins available. This is my absolute favourite dish specifically because of the black beans; I enjoy it so much that I've been asking for a side of them as well. It's a hefty portion of pulled pork as well and 3 chunky plantains cooked to perfection. I do wish there was little bit more of the picked onions to cut through the fatty pork as well as the mojo criollo sauce, but other than that, if you get a bite of everything, it's delicious. 4. Saltado Peruano (GF, RV): Choice of base. Sauteed onion, tomatoes, huacatay sauce, aji panca, cilantro, potato fries. Choice of free-range chicken or tofu. For steak, add $1. Other choices of protein also available. The huacatay with the steak, onions, and tomatoes is so fresh and filling; I like to dip the potatoes in the aji panca after a few bites of everything else. The potatoes are a thick cut, so it can become a tough bite at times. Pro-tip: Eat this one right away as the potatoes can get soggy pretty quickly. I do wish they gave more aji, but other than that, a delicious dish, especially with steak (which I prefered over chicken or tofu). 5. El Koreano (GF, RV): Choice of base. Grilled certified angus steak, baby bok choy, cucumber, gochujang, house kimchi, sweet umami glaze. Other choices of protein also available. I've had this, but I can't say it's my favourite; I would personally go get banchan from a Korean restaurant and enjoy that as a "bowl" than this. There's something about the house kimchi that I don't enjoy as much as I do from Korean establishments. My real complaint isn't about the food, but the to-go container; since it's not plastic, it gets soggy very quickly and loses shape from all the food in the container, causing it to scrape into the food when I use a spoon or fork to eat. My go-to drink is the Zingy; the blend of tartiness from the lemon, the bright punch from the ginger, and Its ingredients are: Fresh ginger, lemon, mint, pineapple, cayenne pepper, raw organic sugar, sparkling water. My partner likes the honey lemonade, especially because you can adjust the sweetness, and actually taste the honey. Its got freshly squeezed lemon, raw organic honey, organic raw sugar.
