I randomly stumbled into Sunny Flea Market after finding Lucky Land closed. Sunny is wild in the best way: cash in hand, time to wander, and vendors selling everything under the sun from food, clothes, electronics, shoes, car parts, you name it. It seriously felt like an endless Mexico market in Texas. Everyone was so nice and friendly and i never felted pressured into buying anything. What surprised me most was how clean and organized the market was, despite how sprawling and busy. The only small change I'd suggest is having pet vendors in a separate section from other vendors. read more

So many vendors and there are 3 flea markets within 2 blocks of each other. You can spend all day there. Many food vendors, fruit stands, Mexican candy stands, few leather vendors with boots and belts. Plus vendors with new and used tools. Tons of vendors selling toys and plush animals. Ok y'all these tacos in the picture were of carnitas and buche mixed! They were loaded with meat and flavor they were some of the best tacos I have ever had! The salsas they offer are amazing and spicy I was probably sweating so much but it was totally worth it! Now the flea market itself offers a ton of food options to check out. Nice food court. Great area for kids. There are rides for kids across the street. Lots of things to see. It is very crowded. It is hard to stop and look at anything because the crowd is moving and it's hard to get in or out of it. It's a very fun happy place. read more

This place is a lot bigger than it looks. Upon entrance, there is a parking fee $2 regular or $4 VIP parking, but honestly you don't need to pay for VIP parking because the lot isn't terribly large. There are quite a few shops here, many selling the same types of clothings and goods. Many bird shops. Many shops selling baby turtles for $7. Good place to buy trinkets and Knick knacks and underwear 5/$10. Wonderful smells coming from the food trucks/stands there. We ate some good pupusas at one of the stands near the main entrance. Also near the entrance was a churro place $2 for a filled churro, $1.50 for plain. It was ok. We got the filled churro but the churro wasn't filled all the way. I would not order again. You can also get your car tinted in the parking lot area. Bathrooms are not the cleanest. Pretty well laid out for a flea market. 3 main rows of shops. Worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

I really enjoyed this place. It's a flea market for sure. Just keep that in mind and go you'll have fun. The middle row is easier to walk down than the outside two rows. Nice folks. One guy even gave me a small taco to sample when he saw I was looking at his food. One place had foot long tacos. Packed with meat and cheese. Another place had corn rolled in butter and cheese. Another has stuffed pulled pork in a grilled pita. All of the food was tasty and cheap. In the middle of one outside row are dinosaurs where the kids can play. read more

Keep in mind that this is a flea market and not a mall. This is also a latino-majority market (LATINO, we're not all mexican), so don't be put off by all the Spanish. The traffic can be hectic and I'll admit the restrooms aren't too great/hard to find, but the rest of the market is pretty fun to look through. It has absolutely EVERYTHING, and the food selection is amazing. There's food stalls at every corner and it's fun to try something new! I enjoy the lively atmosphere and variety. Its a flea market, dirty, hot and crowded with people bumping shoulders on the hunt for good tacos and cheap crap. It's been years since I've been to one and I actually grew up close to this location, my education obviously wasn't valued as a child but who am I to judge. Most of the vendors were selling new products that were mostly overpriced and knockoffs. The makeup is all fake and it definitely shows in the quality. This place is massive with several covered isles to walk through. Lots of food being cooked and ready in no time. Beer and cold drinks are being sold throughout the entire place. Thats all pretty cool but they only have one restroom location and remember I said this place is massive. Thats super inconvenient. We found a couple of ATM machines but they were not in working order. So definitely bring cash because thats all anyone here takes. Parking is $2 and the parking lot is literally a big dirt field with imaginary lines. We stayed for hours and had a good time but at the end of the trip we left basically empty handed. Too many negatives outweighing the positives for me to consider a third star. read more

You either love or hate this place and sometimes Sunny is a little hard to explain. I came here with my mom and my daughter to have a girls day out and have some bomb tacos at our favorite taco stand called El Fogon de Nayarit. They have the best tacos by far and delicious chicken with refreshing pressed waters (Yes, better than Buey Y Vaca). The owner of this establishment is so nice and even gave us a courtesy Charro beans, their Pineapple water made this trip itself worth it. As far as the rest of the flea market, let me warn you ahead of time of the counterfeit and imitation items, seems like it's a huge trend in Sunny. The place is also very packed but the fact that they have food at every corned you turn, you honestly feel like you are in a food festival. Not only did we have tacos and pineapple water but Elote in a cup, Guava Ice cream Churros and pineapple empanadas. I did buy a couple of toys for my kids and my daughter got to paint a little ceramic figurine which made this trip worth the terrible traffic. I will come back just not anytime soon, perhaps next month. read more

Houston, a international city with the markets of Old Mexico neatly tucked away inside Sunny flea market. Beautiful girls, awesome street food, cold beer, lots of booty, cheap nice boots ( i guess, could be chinese), tools, pantalonas,local crafts, crap, good crap, not so good crap, churro's, dash board Jesus and Grim Reaper, etc...I told my sons that this def counts as a border crossing! The food stand in front of Kung Fu Panda prop was my favorite. Complete with adorable mexican girl showering touristas with confetti (ninos de la gato)? This family run taco shop has excellent tacos, flautas, hamburgers, menudo, and qusadelia's. All freshly made to order. Excellent hand made red & green sauces. The cabbage salsa on the table used as a taco topping is awesome! I will be back for the name of the stand as they deserve their name in print. A very Kool way to spend Saturday drinkin and smokin in a foriegn land while you let your kids learn how to bater for crap and stuff. Viva Mexico! Viva Sunny flea market! read more

This place is like little Mexico, it's the best flea market I've been to in all Texas. All my family and friends love this place. Not at first because it's kinda ugly on the outside but the inside is great! They sell everything and I mean everything from the antojitos and the best tacos they've got them here, chili plants and all kinds of pepper and herb plants as well! They also have tepache- it's a fermented pineapple drink and it's amazing! I mostly come just for that. They sell cazos, to cook in. They sell nature sunshine , Herbalife products as well and a lot of fruit stands. They sell birds, pigs , puppies , bunnies, roosters! They also have several beer stands and they sell clothes and makeup- now I wouldn't buy the makeup here because I've never heard of a naked 4 makeup palette so yea that's a fake. So be careful with those bargains. Overall if you come try the earlier the better. It gets very crowded after 12. There's lots of parking and it's $2. Definitely come for a cultural experience and stay for the beer! read more

My review is on the salons there. Do NOT get your haircut there. I asked the lady specifically to cut my hair in a certain way and she got so frustrated she chopped off my hair and left it a mess. Fun place to go if you want to escape typical stores for shopping. My family and I typically only come here to window shop (Michael Kors and other designer replicas are pretty comical here) and to eat authentic Mexican food and antojitos. If at all possible, avoid the restrooms though! They either are out of order from too much toilet paper being in them or there's poop and pee still in the bowls! read more

I actually loved this place. I loved the feeling of being in Mexico I don't see that as a negative thing. The food all smelled delicious I helped myself to a cup of fruit! It was so good. You can always find great deals here on the most random things, and you can almost always talk someone in to lowering the price a bit. Been here a few years ago and oh my has this place changed for the better! Kid -friendly, good parking and amazing food. There is a new dinosuar area and lots of food vendors selling authentic food from all over. I think they now have over 1000 spaces. If you are looking to find cheap clothing, old tools, old furniture and have a good time, then this place is great! The enviroment is fun and light hearted. I did feel like I was in Mexico too, but that only added to the experience. -1 star for horrible paid parking lots. If i'm going to pay for parking, then at least fix the bumpy lot! read more

I hope your BFF is Liam Neeson when you go here cause you might get TAKEN! At least that's what the creepy vibe gives off as you are being shuffled away like cattle down the walk ways. You really can't stand there and browse because everything is so congested. I've been to a few markets before and this one totally sunk, literally. There was trash EVERYWHERE on the ground. We stopped and asked several people about an ATM in the beginning before we really got in and no one could really answer to where one was. I saw a little shack of a police station so I figured that would be the best place to get info for an ATM location. I knocked really loud and then entered when someone said hello. I asked the officer about an ATM and he told me "there is one by the food court, but next time, let ME answer the door." Next time, he apparently has jokes... As far as merchandise goes, there is a lot of crap there. And I mean crap. What wasn't crap was goods that had fallen off of a truck on their way to Hollister and Abercrombie tags and labels still on plied high and a few electronics. My friend said the Horchata was good, but you can save yourself the 2 buck parking and gas and go to El Rey for one or ANYWHERE BUT HERE! On our way back to the car my friend was approached by a "catholic" lady that placed blessed items over her kids necks. (she's not from Houston so she isn't aware of the people that like to guilt you into donating. I had walked ahead to turn the car on and cool it down.) The lady told my friend that the items were already "blessed" and that they were theirs to keep for a small donation. She told me she was searching for a dollar or two to hand her and found 4 bucks. The lady then told her that it was AT LEAST a donation of 5 dollars. She then proceeds to strip their children of the little Jesus necklaces and told her God Bless you. She walked away leaving the children sad. What a fake Christian. If it was for a donation to a church they would have taken anything and would not have taken a necklace away from children that they placed around their neck. My friend got a lesson on the idiots around here that like to try to guilt people into giving them some of their hard earned green. Interesting experience for me. Will not be returning. read more

I agree with the other review about what people are expecting, it's a flea market. I came here for the first time on an extremely cold and rainy day and even then it was packed. Eeek. So I can only imagine what it's like on a nice day, cray. BUT it's kinda like an oddity of sorts and something you should definitely experience, at least once, while in Houston. Yes the aisles are way to narrow, yes there is food galore, there are even BARS, ha, that tripped me out but was neat to see. 3 stars because the aisles could stand to be further apart, the one bathroom area reeked when we passed by. Most people in the area know exactly where to go to find what they need but if you are just looking, yeah you do kinda feel like cattle, moving along. I found that it was only compact in one of those rows, the main one, I suppose. The other 2 seemed less crowded, probably because it was a rainy day.
