I was very disappointed with my experience. The nail technician was on the phone throughout my entire appointment, and it felt like she wasn't fully paying attention to my nails. The gel polish was applied very quickly and carelessly, with uneven edges, gaps near the cuticles, and small white spots/bubbles in some areas. At one point, the UV lamp touched my nail and messed up the polish. She tried to fix it, but the final result still didn't look right. I called to book a pedicure with some friends and asked the guy who picked up if the pedicure included a massage and some skin treatment, which is the service I've had at other places. He told me that there would be and I completed the booking. I would not have chosen this place had he informed me massages were not part of the package! I was hoping for a cute fun girls day and wanted a nice relaxing experience to kick it off. I came a little late (about 10 minutes) but called ahead of time to let them know and was assured it would be fine. When I arrived, I picked my nail color and the nail technician got started. What was supposed to be a "massage" turned out to be a quick scrub and some hot water to put my feet in. The cuticle cleaning was extremely brisk and little attention was given to my comfort. I flinched multiple times at the nail tech clipping a little too close to my skin, which was pretty much disregarded. My final touch up was a 2 second exfoliation of my big toenails and not much else. My nail tech finished my whole pedicure in about 10 minutes while I was left a little bewildered at how roughly I was handled. For the price I paid I will be going elsewhere for my pedicures from now on. The pedicure itself was fine (I didn't do anything fancy, just a solid color for all my nails) but I had wanted to be pampered, and this was a big letdown. read more

I found out that you're supposed to get your nails redone every few fills otherwise your nails aren't able to get the proper care that they need. Had never been told that before! I think this is the best nail salon in the U-district, and I'd definitely come back to get my nails done. I scheduled a same-day appointment, but I highly recommend scheduling in advance because they are a busy salon during the day. Luckily, they were able to book me into a slot right in between customers. I wasn't too happy though because I felt as if the lady rushed through my manicure...She did do a good job though! I got the gel manicure with white French tips, which totaled $45 not including tip. The price point is pretty steep just for a gel manicure in my opinion, and I couldn't really justify paying the amount for the rushed-through service. This was quite literally the WORST manicure I've ever had. I went to get a gel manicure, which I get all the time. I picked this spot due to the positive reviews and I truly don't know how they have a single positive review. The interior of the place is a bit of a dive but I overlooked that thinking it would be a good mani still. NOPE. Do they even have a license? I doubt it. Here's all my complaints: 1. She used the electric buffer to buff my bare nails. Now that the gel is off my nails I can see the true damage- and it's bad. Like to the point that I question if nail is even remaining in some parts of my nail. 2. She destroyed my cuticles. The tools she was using looked dirty too so I'm shocked I didn't get an infection. Oh and my cuticles are still peeling from this damage. 3. They charge just as much as a classy salon but no hand massage? Never had a full mani with no hand massage... 4. Their nail polish brands were all ones I had never heard of and the color selection wasn't great I would 100% not go here. Don't risk it- if this can happen once it's not worth the risk. It will take months for my nails to recover. read more

This place is amazing!! I made an appointment through yelp, which was super convenient and I received a response within minutes. This business is following all of the proper covid protocols - the door was open the whole time I was there, there was hand sanitizer available at every station, there was a plastic barrier between the customers and nail techs, etc. Not only was the business clean and professional, but the customer service was better than any of the other salons I've tried! Everyone was so friendly and they made sure I liked how my nails looked before getting too far into the process! Overall, I was very impressed by this salon and their service and I will definitely be back! In my opinion, this is the best place to go around the University of Washington to get your nails done. As a student, their prices are a little bit expensive, but I feel like generally speaking they do a really good job with all of their services. If you ever get a tech that doesn't understand what you want or maybe isn't doing it right, don't be afraid to speak your mind, and ask! They're always really accommodating and nice! I would say, the only reason why I give it four out of five stars is because they're extremely busy, which is a good thing for them, but they don't always see you right away even if you have an appointment. I've waited 20 to 30 minutes past my appointment time to get seated or to get my service started. I would say it's worth the wait but you will probably spend more time then you're anticipating there. read more

Ever since this place changed management and name I have found it a great place to get your nails done. I have never had any issues over all whereas prior I would continually have nails break or notice that perhaps things weren't done correctly. The people that work here are professional and friendly. The place is clean and there are Plenty of nail color options to choose from. Overall the prices are fair and it's one of the few nail places that do acrylic. Tony, who manages the salon is so kind hearted, personable, and genuine. The sweetest person I've ever met here on first time meet. Tony is SUPER skilled in doing acrylic nails. I am picky with the way my nails are done, but without my input he did my nails spot on with the way I like them. He is very precise on making all the nails even, shape even, length even! I've been to Sunny Island 3 times now for acrylic nail art and they are the best place I've found! I used to live right down the street, and I just moved about 20 minutes away but will still be coming here since they are always so good. They always listen to exactly what I want, and they're really patient even when I have 7+ different colors like with this set. Today, I saw Na for this set and I will definitely be coming back to see her in the future- she absolutely nailed it! She really took her time to make sure the designs looked just how I wanted them to, but I could tell she had a lot of experience as she was very efficient. As you can tell by the photo comparison, she did the set pretty much perfectly- her flames are even better than the reference photo in my opinion. Tony does my friends' designs and he also is always great. Honestly, I haven't had a tech at this salon that I haven't been satisfied with the results. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for acrylic nail design- it's definitely the best I've been to and I will be coming back anytime I get my nails done. They also have punch cards which is nice- after 10 visits you get $10 off, and their prices are very fair. For reference, this was an acrylic fill with gel and I had 2 broken nails: it was ~$75 and took a little over an hour and a half, which I feel is very fair as the quality is amazing. And for simpler designs, the prices are definitely cheaper- my first set I got done here had a very simple design on each nail and the full set was ~$60.
