Got up really early this morning and decided to go somewhere new for breakfast. Heard of the "Sunny Street Cafe" so we decided to give them a try. Easy to find right off Krile Rd. at the rt. 44 exist off rt.90. Giant parking lot with room for everybody. Good sized, bright yellow building is nice and cheery. It was a little odd when we entered and found portable A/C units all around the dining room... I'm guessing they're having a problem with the main system. We were promptly seated and a nice woman (Katrina) greeted us right away to take our beverage order. It didn't take long to realize the honky-tonk music was playing WAY too loud... especially for breakfast. But she returned shortly and took our food order. The menu is extensive with something for everyone. We both chose the Avocado Eggs Benedict with fresh fruit. It showed up quickly and looked great. The fruit was very fresh. The Benedict tasted good but could have been a bit hotter. We did enjoy our meal though. We finished with a good cup of coffee and received a bill for $42. Lovely outdoor area. Usually do not have to wait long for food, but it took forever today. Food was very good but half my eggs and hash browns were cold - must have been waiting too long off the heat lamp. I did get replacement eggs. Not sure what was going on because this isn't their norm. Our server was new, I am guessing and needed more training. She was very curt, never asked about our food or if we needed anything. We had to ask for syrup for our pancakes, never apologized for the cold eggs and in general not pleasant. I asked for a box and she said sure, then proceeded to ask another server what she could do to help her and started clearing tables. read more

I've not been to Sunny Street for several years. My wife suggested that we stop by for breakfast. We had about a 15 minute wait and then we seated. Our server was very pleasant took our drink order and got it back to us right away. After the day, I look like it did six years ago, but not old or worn out. I ordered the hash eggs and my wife ordered the eggs Benedict. Breakfast was good and we both enjoyed our meals. A little bit of Frank's hot sauce, always makes things taste better. They only complain is that their coffee is kind of weak but then again I do like a strong cup of coffee. So I might be fine for someone that doesn't like to get dark roast. There was one item on the menu that I'm going to try the next time and that's loaded hashbrowns. All in all look good experience. read more

Met a friend for lunch. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and she had the special Philly cheese sandwich. She said hers was really good. It looked nice and had au jus for dipping. My chicken salad sandwich was excellent. I took half home and enjoyed it twice. It was well balanced and not overly mayonnaised! Subtle red onion to enhance the soft chicken. Amazing food and you can taste the quality of the meat. The service was fast and friendly. Felt like you were at a resort breakfast restaurant. They serve breakfast all day long. My husband and I ate a late breakfast here and were wonderfully surprised by the quality of food and service. Our waitress was very attentive and quickly served us. The ambiance could use a little work. The service was okay but the food was not it. The meat tasted like old fish oil and the eggs were beyond undercooked. Along with that the fruit was old and mushy. The fact that they would service this, speaks about their ethics. My wife ordered the burrito and it was beyond tasteless. I would go somewhere else for your breakfast choices, if you're picking places in lake county. I would not recommend this place. read more

Great service, our waitress was super friendly! Loved that they have healthy options and not just typical diner/luncheonette choices. A beautiful patio venue for Father's Day breakfast. So comfortable and spacious for larger parties. Menu includes standards and innovative choices as well. They accommodated a toddler and the outdoor water feature was a hit with our granddaughter. Attentive service, ample parking, friendly staff and patrons. Sunny's skillet is a flavorful must try with chorizo sausage and hash browns. The pancakes looked delicious and the chicken and waffles was also great. Coffee was kept filled up and a special request for toddler breakfast was easily accommodated. Worth a trip as it is convenient to the freeway. Don't miss this local gem. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile. One other time I tried to go here on a Sunday morning and it was packed with a long wait, so we didn't stay. So I met a friend here last week for brunch, finally. I ordered the Loaded hash browns, which included hash browns topped with 2 fried eggs, sausage gravy, cheese and sautéed onions. It was delicious. I asked to add a pancake and was told they offer 2 small pancakes as a side. They were good but I didn't expect to pay $4.50 for them. My bill including tip came to $20. We stopped by Sunny Street Cafe for brunch on a Saturday afternoon! Traffic was steady, but they weren't overwhelmed with customers. I started out with a hot chocolate and a water, and Andrew had a coffee. Our waitress was nice, all the faces were friendly, and service was fast. I ordered the Famous Hearty Breakfast and Andrew got the Meat Lover's Breakfast. Neither of us had any complaints about our food! Big breakfast fan but usually like to have it for dinner. Showed up for work and realize that they were not ready for me. So off I went to find me something to eat. I could do chain and I could do fast food but I have been driving pass Sunny Street Café since May. So I stopped to give it a try. Sunny Street is just like most typical diners. They have a counter and a large seating area. I love when I walk into a place and they greet you when you come in the door. This isn't a bunch people doing a Pavlovian response to the door open and some one comes in. It was a warm smile and hello. It said wait to be seated and I did. The hostess arrived and I told her one. She is looking all around because, it is Saturday and a decent day, the place is packed. Seeing some worry in the young lady's face about where to put me. They had a large table but I opted for the counter. The menu was the standard diner breakfast offerings. My favorite thing to eat, because I haven't tried to make it, is country fried steak. So did not just order country fried steak. I ordered the king of country fried steak. This meal definitely royalty. The steak was cooked to a nice crisp but was not over done on the edges or the flatter portions of the steak. The gravy was great it had a great flavor that brought out the flavor in the steak. My sides were scrambled eggs which I added cheese and hashbrowns. Most people wonder how I can even taste my eggs and hash browns when they drowned in ketchup and some kind of hot sauce. The waitress, Alex, saw my food was barely touched and said nothing. So i explained that the food was too cold to eat, and she said nothing. Not even an apology. She didn't ask her manager to adjust the price; they probably didn't even know it happened. We asked for well done hash browns; they were white and cold. She never bothered coming back to our table to ask if everything is ok, so I had 1/4 of my breakfast to eat. This is not the first time I've had this issue here. The pumpkin pancakes were delicious. I wish this didn't happen because my friend was buying my breakfast and I feel badly for her because she said hers was cold too, but she was " going to take it home to warm up to eat later".
