Wanted to surprise my wife with a piece of peach pie. She loved it! Will definitely be back again!

Cleaner since they changed to Village Inn. No longer sticky and gross inside. Service was super slow; 10 minutes to get a server to take our drink orders. After we got food we never saw our waitress again. No refills. A cook gave us a box. Waited at the register for someone to let us pay our bill. There at least 30 minutes longer than wanted to be just waiting to pay and get a box for food. However, cook was fast. Got food fast after we ordered. No complaints on food. It was good. Not sure if our waitress was the only server when we were there, but saw her standing around talking a lot off to the side. Would recommend take out instead of eating in until they get more servers (which I understand, it's hard to get workers when pay is breadcrumbs). read more

Visited Village Inn (frmly Bakers Square) in Mentor for breakfast. Was unfamiliar with the chain but nothing ventured, right? Right!! Very clean and bright place. Greeted & seated almost right away. Our waitress, Alicea I think, brought coffee & iced tea right away. My wife had the eggs & sausage breakfast, seems simple. But the house made sausage was amazing. Good eggs & potatoes. I had the Banana Cream Pancakes with scrambled & a sausage patty. Those Pancakes were everything I've ever wanted in a special pancake. I enjoyed each bite way too much. Not overly rich, they were so light and flavorful. I could go on & on about them. We cashed out at the table right away when it was time. So simple, so easy, so good. read more

My dad said he came here for breakfast and it was pretty good, so stopped by after some errands. Amy our server was very sweet and helpful. I like that we had a coffee pot left at the table. It was tasty, hot and fresh. Had the 2-2-2. 2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 hot cakes. Was tasty. A bit pricey, but we were informed that it was take a side of pie home when you order a beverage and meal. That helped. We could try a slice of pie too. Cool. I tried the coconut merengue and my husband had the strawberry rhubarb. We each shared so we could taste them both. I liked the coconut cream, but not the merengue. I also liked the strawberry rhubarb, but the crust was a bit dry. The inside was clean and straightforward simple. A few days back after church, my wife and I stopped by the Village Inn for lunch. This location used to be Baker's Square before it was rebranded. The location has been refurbished and looks quite nice. Our waitresses was a very nice young lady who did a fine job. The food was good nothing special. I don't think the menu really changed from Baker Square which is OK because you know what you're going to when you come in. I had their country fried steak with scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. It tasted good and if they had used fresh ingredients and not frozen, it would've been outstanding. It did appear that there pie and cake offerings have improved and looked very delicious. Next time, I'll have to get a slice of pecan or blueberry pie. Overall, a good experience if you're looking for an inexpensive meal with your spouse or friends, you can't go wrong. read more

We came here on Christmas because it is one of the few places open and it was a wonderful experience. Our server was friendly, and they were decked out in festive wear, which was a nice touch. The food we had was remarkable. The teriyaki salmon was so good. I didn't order it, but I tried a bite and immediately made a mental note to order it next time. Nothing they served was bad. The price is right on point, too. For 3 people to get an entrée that comes with 2 sides and bread, drinks, plus a WHOLE pie ordered to take home, it ended up costing under $75. It's a very casual dining atmosphere, with booth and table seating. It's definitely worth checking out next time you want a diner type experience with amazing food. read more

Picked up a banana cream pie. It was awful. The pudding was pasty and that wasn't the real bad part of it. The cream was not whipping cream but some nasty tasting oily fake stuff. I always loved their banana cream but I will never waste $18 on that garbage again. read more

They have the best breakfast around. Food is always piping hot and very fresh. Try the homemade sausage patties they're excellent and their pancakes are delicious. Always good service. It's called "Village Inn" and they still have Bakers square pies. We were told the new name comes from their southern state restaurants. Menu is much improved over the old Bakers Square menu. It's tough to go wrong with a restaurant that has good food served with a smile. That's been my experience since returning to this restaurant after many years. It had been a family favorite when my kids were little 15 years ago, so I was very pleased to find nothing had changed. My 16-year-old daughter needed a little cheer and some good food, so my girlfriend and I took her to Bakers Square, mainly for all of us to enjoy some pie together. My daughter revealed that she hadn't eaten much, so she ordered the Grown-up Grilled Cheese sandwich. The portion size was much larger than we expected. Most places would have served a wimpy, thin sandwich. Not here. The cheeses served were piled on heartily and the pile of fries were more than she could eat. She wound up taking half her meal home. We returned another day, this time with my best friend along. I ordered the Bakers Club sandwich and my buddy warned me he couldn't finish his the last time he came. It was huge, and I did struggle to finish. I left a lot of fries on the plate to save room for the yummy Triple Berry pie, my favorite. My daughter had breakfast, served at 6:30 in the evening. A cheese omelette with home fries and a crepe, which she devoured...then had pie. Service both times was excellent. We never had to ask for refills and the servers were very pleasant and cheerful. My one and only ding on Bakers Square is their soft drink pricing. It disappoints me that they would charge $2.69 for a soda that was served with 3/4 of a glass of ice. My buddy and I each ordered sodas, so that was almost $6 for two glasses! My fault for not checking the menu on that. Total bill for all three of us came to $48, which included the main meals and a round of pies. Overall, a very good dining experience. read more

Baker's Square's Works Burger is one of the BEST burgers in Mentor! I can't believe the price for 2 burgers with cheese plus a LOT of bacon, mushrooms, their special sauce, sautéed onion plus raw onion and fries. If you want to indulge in guilty pleasure you have to go here. To make it even better go on free slice of pie day (I think it's Wednesday)! Most restaurants will charge $20-$30 for this. Hard to believe but if you go on free slice day it will cost you about $15.00! Don't trust me - check it out for yourself. The ladies who work here are so friendly and will take care of you! We've been here at least 4-5 times and haven't been disappointed. Come for the food, ambience and great service. You won't be disappointed. read more

We use to eat here all the time, today we were visiting the Beach in Fairport an said let's go get pie and lunch . Service was excellent , the chicken in both our meals was questionable, mine was rubbery in a stir fry and my daughters honey mustard chicken salad several pieces weren't done . Baker Square left California several years ago, so when I passed by one in Ohio I stopped dead in my tracks and had to get some pie!!! French silk is my favorite!! great service, but horri menu! I ask and found out it was under new ownership. They have 1/3 of the menu they used to have, and the items they kept, are made with cheaper ingredient. From the honey mustard to the pies the quality of the food and menu is awful!!! We went to this bakers square location on a Sunday around 1:30 pm. It was pretty packed when we arrived. We got seated in about 5 mins. Our Waitress was friendly and explained any questions we had on the menu. I ended up getting California frittata and my other half got the veggie omlette. Pleasantly surprised after not visiting bakers square for many years. I thought it was going to be a run down dive like Denny's but I was wrong. We had chili for starters and it was really good. Mildly spicy and thick. I ordered a Reuben and for not being a deli, it was very good. My girlfriend shared her chicken avocado melt with me and it was delicious. We had peach pie for dessert and it was excellent. The server, summer, was attentive and pleasant which rounded out a wonderful Saturday brunch for us. read more

Never ever eat this place we ordered simple BLT from Uber with sides of fresh fruit. The grapes were all moldy and the mayonnaise on the BLT was grey. After eating the BLT I was sick for three solid days and we did not eat the fruit. It was extremely clear to see the mold on the grapes and I did not notice the grey mayo at first and obviously did not have more than one bite and still got sick. I called to advise the manager of the moldy grapes and grey mayo and she took forever to get to the phone bc she claimed she was working in the kitchen. Ok so the manager prepared the food and she let moody food leave the kitchen that is so disgusting and horrible that this company allows a manager to let moldy food leave the kitchen and taking the risks of getting ppl sick. To make things worse she never offered an apology or anything at all. What if I would of allowed my kids to eat that fruit before I checked? She definitely doesn't deserve a job in the food industry. read more

Customer service at its best. I have not been here to dine in years but we often order pies. This past weekend I placed an order online for two pies. Early Sunday morning I received a call from the manager apologizing that the two varieties that I had ordered were not available because of National Pie Day being the day before. He went on to explain that they would provide two pies of our choice from what they had- at no cost. When my husband went to pick up the pies, not only did we get the two free pies offered by the manager but they also gave him a coupon for a free pie! Talk about great customer service. Haven't been here in a long time. Food surprisingly great! Can't go wrong with pie either! Had delicious squash soup and half classic dip sandwich both were better than expected. I haven't been to bakers square in years. We happened to be in the area and decided to stop for lunch. The coffee was good. We has a cup of chili with onions and cheese and it was mildly spicy and tasty. My boyfriend order a Reuben and I order the chicken avocado melt on oat bread. We typically share our meals. And today was no exception. The Reuben had plenty of corned beef and was grilled nicely. The chicken avocado melt was delicious and very filling. We visit there at least once a week. The food is usually great. If it's not, they will re-make it for you. All you have to do is ask. A much more inspired menu than you would expect in this price range. Theresa is our favorite server; as much for a personality match as for her serving skills. Seriously though, you can't go wrong with any of the servers there. Each has their own fan base. I doubt I will ever go back to this location ever. My husband and I went there for lunch today and to pick up an apple pie I had ordered for dessert tomorrow. We got there at 11:40ish and were seated quickly and told who our server would be and I don't remember the name. We were there for about 15 minutes and no one came to serve us. Then a couple of young guys came in and were quickly given their beverages and a family came in and were seated at the booth behind us. The server took their beverage order and I asked her if we were in her area and she said no but she'd send our server to us. No one ever showed up. The other people had now received their meals and we were still waiting. At 12:15 we decided enough was enough and left. Then one the way out I asked how long it would take to pick up our pie and was told about 30 minutes. We went elsewhere for lunch and came back to pick up our pie and she said maybe another 30 minutes. I didn't wait. This is ridiculous. We eat out a couple of times a week and this is not acceptable serve by any stretch of the imagination. read more
