I initially contacted this business to ask if they sold and programmed car keys, as I had lost one of my original keys over the years. The owner told me he could both provide and program a replacement. He explained that I could choose an aftermarket key, which might cause a dashboard warning light that should go away, or I could choose an OEM key that he would source from the dealership, which would cost more but would not cause any issues. Wanting to avoid any headaches, I chose the OEM option. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When the key arrived, I scheduled an appointment to have it programmed. At first, everything seemed fine--the remote started the car and unlocked the doors without issue. However, once I drove away, a red key warning light appeared on the dashboard along with a "keyless entry malfunction" message. I immediately contacted the business and was told to give it two weeks and that the issue would resolve itself. Two weeks later, the light was still on. I returned to the shop, and the owner instructed me to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes and reconnect it. I did this and waited another two weeks, but the problem persisted. When I returned again, I was told the issue might be the remote batteries and that I needed to replace them and reintroduce each key--both the original and the newly programmed one--one at a time after disconnecting the battery again. I followed those instructions and spent additional money on new batteries. At this point, nearly two months had passed. Now BOTH remotes(my original and their replacement) function intermittently. If the car does not unlock, I have to manually open the door with the cut key, disconnect and reconnect the battery, and then start the vehicle. I returned to the business and simply asked for a refund for the labor so I could take the key to the dealership and have it programmed correctly. Instead, they refused and I was berated. The interaction was especially upsetting because my toddler was with me at the time. I feel like I got scammed here. I paid for parts and labor, and now I have to go to the dealership to fix the issue they created. Everything ran fine till he started "programming" his remote. I hope others have better luck. UPDATE: 12/23 went to the dealer and fixed the issue. I ended up getting a new remote and a reprogram of all the keys including the original vehicle key(when I purchased the vehicle). I attached a printout from the dealer stating "incorrect component installed" as per their system which was what this business installed and gave me all the issues. So the premium I paid for the "OEM dealer factory" remote/key at the store was not actually all OEM. What a joke. Huge relief the dealer fixed their mess and the remotes work. Should have went to the dealer from the beginning, I would have saved money, a headache and the embarrassment. read more

This hardware store is right by the train station which is super convenient. They have a lot of inventory for screws, etc and more. The staff is helpful when helping you look for something specific or letting you know quickly if they have it here or not. Storefront from the outside is on the smaller side so make sure you don't miss or pass by it when you're trying to buy something from there. read more

I have gone to them for so many things over the years. They have always been so polite and helpful with everything from miscellaneous hardware to new keys and more. Very fair prices!! Quick, easy, and helpful! What more can you ask for? They are also very nice about allowing my dog to come with me so I can get my dog walked and pick up things as necessary. He always worked on projects from electrical work, plumbing etc. Even when large home improvement retailers popped up my father still always came here to pick up supplies that he needed and barely went to the new big retail stores if he didn't have to. Now I personally prefer to come here whenever I do any home improvement projects and I know that they have what I need. I don't think that this hardware store gets all the credit that they deserve. It's in the neighborhood and it's easy to get to and they carry almost everything. I normally know exactly what I am looking for. This place is clean, and organized. The service has always been fantastic and the person who works here is so helpful and friendly. This particular store, directly named Sunnyside Hardware no less, is a clean and conveniently located spot right off of the 40th St stop along the 7. The Korean couple that run this place are very nice. They usually have hired help in case they're busy, which is almost never. The items are laid out in a way where things are not hard to find. The only problem is the place is a little more spendier than other hardware stores, but I suppose that comes with the territory, which in this case is the busy Queens Blvd. read more

Pet friendly store! I've been a customer for the longest time. I remember how I used to take my pet rabbit to shop at this store too. The owner is such a nice store owner, very helpful and friendly. His son is also very good with customers. They did a nice job with the store. The stuff is very organized and nothing like some hardware store where you can't even walk. They have a dog that's guarding the store. It's a rescued dog and the dog is sweet too. Before going to other hardware stores, make sure to stop here first because they have worked with many customers above and beyond. Very happy the store is exist, right in the neighborhood. Pricing is completely reasonable. I highly recommend. I had problem with my apartment door lock yesterday, having to jiggle the key inside the lock for over 15 minutes trying to get inside. I called Sunnyside Hardware & Locksmith and spoke with Larry. I described the problem and the lock, and he asked some questions to further diagnose the issue. Not being able to definitely pinpoint the problem over the phone without seeing the lock, Larry was able to give me some possible solutions and corresponding price quotes. I came for a drill bit and bought a drill bit. I also looked at some lug nuts for a joint screw. The counter guys helped me find the right size for the threads. Convenient and always helpful. I've gone in many times with "how do I .. .? And they take the time to show me and explain how to do it. I can always go there and ask. Maybe a bit pricey, but they do do "hardware for dummies" and if you can't get out to the big places, it's convenient to get to, especially when you burn out a drill bit they will explain how to drill out a screw that just won't move. Or change out a light switch that crackles when turned on. For that I cannot go back and forth to a Home Depot. Very nice owners. They are also available for after hours work such as AC installation and such. read more

The customer service at this store is outstanding. It's a small regular hardware store, but it almost always has what I am looking for. Once they did not have the type of mouse trap I was looking for, a humane one, and the person helping me was extremely nice about my unique request. He was honest about what they did and did not have in stock. I had another experience at this store at an earlier time when I needed help figuring out how a lock I bought worked, and they were very helpful, and explained everything very nicely and patiently. The owner was a bit condescending when helping me review their indoor paint options. He also seemed very hurried, although I was the only customer in the store. He started laughing when I told him that I wasn't sure I wanted to go the route of mixing a paint tint with a white base and hoping the color came out like the sample I brought in; also because I only had experience with the paint being mixed in advance professionally. It seems like an odd sales strategy to laugh at your customer, when your job is actually to help them. I did not get a good impression of this owner. read more
