He offered his extensive knowledge to me as well as the landscape architect to finalize our design which fit our wishes as well as the HOA rules. When the work began, Mike and his team kept us up to date on progress, had several suggestions to improve it, and found the right plants to finalize the design. Mike has allot of experience, know how, and professionalism. His team is hard working, friendly, and does a quality job. Highly recommended!

He is an excellent communicator, and, above all else, a very decent and nice guy, who's a pleasure to work with. I'm a retired old guy. I was very impressed with Mike and his 2 man crew. Mike worked WITH his crew. This landscape was on a 5 acre parcel with oak trees. He listened to our concerns: deer resistant plants, no ground cover (rattlesnakes), and drought resistant. He sent us a list of plants and trees that we could look at online. Also because of all the oak trees he based putting plants according to sun exposure. He also installed a new WiFi timer and set it up for watering. I was outside the whole time they were working. I was a CDF fire captain who ran a 17 man inmate crew for 25 years so I know what hard and efficient workers are. Mike kept me up to date on everything through text. Hearing not as good at 80 ‍

My wife and I built a home on 10 acres in Pilot Hill, CA, last year. I had installed all of the 6'…read morefencing surrounding the upper 3 acres where the house and pool sit. I had also installed a large automatic gate. At that point, we were ready to hire a landscape company. We knew we wanted decorative rock to surround the house (we live in a very high fire risk area), and we wanted grass surrounding the pool and patios to keep dust down and create a microclimate. (We have a well, and have good water pressure.). We found Santana Landscape Hardscape online and read all of the reviews, which were very good. I reached out to the owner, David, who was great on the phone and clearly knowledgeable. He came out to walk the property with me and my wife a few days later, understood what we wanted, and made excellent suggestions. The scope of work was pretty extensive. They had to grade, finalize drainage, install a large irrigation system, install approx. 40 yards of decorative rock, install metal landscape borders, place boulders, finish out the area surrounding a raised bed with stepping stones, build steps into a slope, and install fence posts. They just finished the job yesterday (it took about 8 days). We are extremely happy with everything David and his crew did. They showed up at about 7:30 a.m. every morning, were hardworking, cleaned up after themselves each day, answered any and all questions we had along the way, and basically did everything they could to make sure we were happy with each days' progress and the quality of the work (which was excellent). We were extremely impressed, and have already asked David to come back for the second phase of our project, which is putting in the grass. We highly recommend David and Santana Landscape Hardscape.

Eh. Small business. Seemed honest. I knew it was a gamble…read morewith only 24 reviews on here. 2025: Got a bid for job 1. Price was so good asked for bid for job 2. Agreed to proceed with one bid at a time. Glad I did that. BTW bids came in far lower than other competitors. Now I know why. I'm not going to bash the experience with detail, but here's something to note: Skeleton crew. The regular down to earth blue collar workers they were had me trusting them but I found myself constantly asking questions as after the contract was signed, communication slowed drastically. I thought more detail would be discussed. Think this particular job was out of their lane and, to me, they left it incomplete/did the bare minimum/ couldn't wait to get outta there. They also were random in their work schedule. Sometimes there for half a day then you wouldn't see em for days. It took at least double the time projected. Thought maybe it could be a fluke as there were some noticeable issues with the business which seemed out of their control, so asked for some updates to job 1 bid. I was assured a bid would be revised/sent, but ironically, I cut the final check for the job completed, then I was ghosted. Tried to give this business benefit of the doubt, but they constantly showed red flags. Hey if you like letting a businesses take full control of your project, its basic and you don't really care about detail, this is a business for you. A lot of the photos show very basic 101 jobs completed on here. Hope everyone learns something from my experience.

I had this company come out last summer. He built a couple of retaining walls and performed that…read morework beautifully. However the landscape portion was terrible. First of many problems: the watering controller he installed did not work properly from the get-go. I told Pete about it and requested a receipt for the controller (it was the end of the job so he wasn't planning to return). Instead he came out and fiddled with the controller and said it works fine. He left and it still didn't water according to the settings so he came out again (after the job was completed) and fiddled some more, saying again there was nothing wrong with the controller. He never gave me a receipt, so as the same problem kept occurring, I finally had to replace it. Because Pete never gave me a receipt (I suspect he used a controller he had sitting around, and not a new one for my job, however he told me it was "professional grade" and cost $300), I couldn't return it and had to spend more money on the new controller. Very irritating. Irrigation system and planting: I asked him to add on to the existing drip irrigation system and bring water to several fruit trees and numerous new shrubs I requested that he put in. However he installed 1 gal. drippers to everything, whether it was a large existing fruit tree or a new small shrub. Fruit trees require a lot more water...Pete told me he was an arborist so he should know the right amount of water fruit trees need. Now I'm having to switch out these drippers myself to something that provides adequate water. Again not something I should have to be doing. I requested all cascading rosemary shrubs in numerous locations. He installed half cascading rosemary and half something else (I don't know the name...he didn't provide any tags). My bad for not saying something at the time, as I thought the additional color might be pretty. Well, the other plants he selected COMPLETELY took over the area covering the slower growing cascading rosemary. Now I have to tear some of those plants out and put them elsewhere, so that I can see the plants I requested in the first place. Some of the new plants he put in began to die after a while so I looked a little closer to figure out why. Half the root system was above ground...the hole was not dug nearly deep enough! I tried to correct this but unfortunately the plants were too far gone so my effort was not in time. Finally, I asked Pete to shore up some fence posts that were lagging. It was a picket fence surrounding a small patch of my front yard. I asked him to go around and check each post. I am too trusting...I assumed he had done that. However, he only shored up 4 fence posts and not the posts on either side of the gate, the ones that needed attention the most. Overall, I am pretty unhappy with the job this company did for me. I read other reviews stating how detail oriented Pete was for them...He did not pay attention to the details of my landscaping project, and I'm not sure he dealt honorably with me about the controller problem. I would not recommend him/his company.

First, Taylor is personable, and pleasure to work with, honest, fair and wants what's best for all…read moreparties involved. He does a good job working with you, has referrals where he feels extra support could be needed (landscape designers, finance options, etc.) and suggests great sources for picking materials (stone work, substrates, and plants). He let's you know about alternatives available based on what you want and his experience. He offers good perspectives and provides cost conservative options as well. He does a good job walking you through a balance for your budget, not overselling you for his gain, but also direct if your dreams come with a price that might run you out of your budget. Second, his crew is amazing!! His lead, Martin, is a dream to work with. Whenever we wanted something just so, he always agreed and found a way to make it happen, never once making us feel our request was too much or annoying. If he ran into roadblocks, he brought us out to review them and consider options if the ground/slope or something was impacting our ask. His crew was respectful, used their portable facilities, and did an almost perfect job picking up after themselves each day. Third, the patience of all people involved was commendable. Taylor, his crew, and his subcontractors from concrete to electrical were very respectful, communicated well about their portion of the project and answered questions/addressed concerns as they came up. Our project did run over on time, but it was due to weather constraints and unforseen issues with our terain on a hillside. Surprisingly and as much as safely possible, the crew worked on inclination days to try to meet the quoted deadline as much as possible. When they couldn't come, that was well communicated. Now, everyone can use some constructive feedback and the one thing that stood out to us was that we would've like receiving the couple of supplement bid items we asked about a little sooner. You need to keep in mind that if you ask his crew to deviate from your original scope, they will move forward on it and you will have to pay for the change, as you should. So, if you're uncertain how/if your requests might impact your scope/bid pricing, loop in Taylor before his crew. The only other pickup we experienced was picking out materials and the stone place had put them back before Taylor picked it up. When picking your own materials, we found we had to check-in with Taylor a couple times regarding reminders for that. Despite our constructive feedback, considering the overall project and experience as well as our experience with other contractors, TC Landscaping gets a solid 5 star from us. We will consider using them again for our needs and referred them to family. Our family experienced a similar outcome, consistent with ours when adding a redwood staircase up a very steep slope and some other yard beautification.
