Zero Stars from a Disabled Veteran, I paid for the week and after Politely asking the Owner to Please fix the Room, to No Avail I left early.

    Laura W.

What a fantastic surprise THIS was! We were driving cross-country with all our pets (three cats, a dog, and two canaries) and needed a place to stay for the night. We didn't want to pay for a hotel room in Memphis on a weekend so checked with Hotels.com for someplace within an hour or so. We needed somewhere that would allow the pets and had room for us to park our moving truck. Hotels.com directed us to the Sunrise and we were on our way. It's a little bit far off I-40, but totally worth it. We wound our way through town and pulled in late, late -- around 1:00 in the morning or so. Despite the hour, the employee (owner?) came out to check us in with a smile. Super friendly man, you'd have thought it was a decent hour by the way he interacted with us. We made sure he was aware of our menagerie; he was totally fine with it, no pet fee charged. The building itself if the standard motel style with all the doors opening out to the parking lot. It looked like a cheap, dive-y kind of place that someone decided to make over and they did a great job on it. The room was small, sure, but cozy, clean, and pleasantly decorated. The bed was comfortable if a little wobbly due to the king mattress resting on two smaller box springs, all atop an even smaller platform. The soaps and shampoos are all imported from India; a nice touch that goes with the whole theme of the place. Very inexpensive, very clean and comfortable. Would totally stay here again.

Dirt or make up on the wash cloth
    Rachel H.

This place has gone downhill. The owners are very nice but whoever does housekeeping isn't on their A game. I reached for a wash cloth and before I put it to my face noticed it was dirty so I reached for another one and it was dirty too with hair on it. Eww. I'm including the pics so you don't think I'm being dramatic. The tub and sink and sheets appear to be clean. There was a weird smell to this room. You know the first time we came here it was a bargain for 39 with a travel mag coupon. Now at 79 not so much. I expect clean sheets, towels and bathroom.

Decent room for the money. Really spacious. Friendly staff. And it's right next door to the coolest outdoor art installation in the state.

The hotel is conveniently located just a short distance from the interstate and has tons of convenient parking. Staff is exceedingly friendly and helpful and the hotel has a tasteful decor and a somewhat upscale ambiance that is noteworthy. Rooms are clean and crisp, with excellent amenities and our room boasted a truly exemplary shower; easy step-in and roomy, with excellent water pressure and temperature control. Beds are extremely comfortable. The complimentary hot breakfast is very good; with all the favorites. Upon pulling into the lot we noticed plenty of parking for guests and well-lit. Additionally, we were thankfully the receptionist was friendly and got us checked into our room with no problems. The reception area has iced water with lemons in it and a pool/gym down the hall. Neither of which we used during our stay, so I cannot speak to those amenities. First impression was our room smelled fresh/clean!! Upon pulling out the couch to make a bed for my kiddo, I noticed it had crumbs in the bottom and the cushion needed to be washed (stains on them). Also, the shower needed to be bleached and scrubbed as well as floors, I'm a housecleaner so I notice things like that. I am very grateful there were clean linens in the room and didn't notice any bugs on the bedding though. I will add the AC was perfect and the bed was true to its name (comfortable). For breakfast, there were hot biscuits & gravy, eggs, potatoes hash and then cold breakfast items as well as fresh coffee! I overheard the ice machines on the second and third floor were out of order because an older gentleman was trying to get some for his cup and couldn't find any. All things considered, I would stay here again. Safe, friendly staff, and comfortable!

Seeing as how I didn't want to make the 60-mile commute from Memphis to Whiteville on the day of my jump, I decided to once again book a room at a Super 8 motel...which is the same thing that I did when I visited NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida back in 2009. Much like the Super 8 that I stayed at in Florida, this Super 8 is very close to West Tennessee Skydiving (WTS). The locations are convenient...with the first Super 8 (in Titusville) being only 12 miles from Kennedy Space Center, and the Whiteville Super 8 being 10-11 miles from WTS. The main downside about the Super 8s (at both locations) is that the nearest restaurants (fast food or otherwise) are quite a drive away. In the case of Whiteville, I had to travel to the nearby city of Bolivar (10 miles away) just to get something to eat at say, Taco Bell or Burger King. But at least there's a gas station right next to the Super 8...plus a liquor store that I had no intention of going to since I was unfamiliar with how safe this area was. The price you pay when you want to save gas and cash. Speaking of safety, another downside of this Super 8 (or west Tennessee in general) is that it is in Tornado Alley. On the first night of my stay at this motel, tornado sirens went off multiple times in the area as a severe thunderstorm struck Whiteville and adjoining cities. Obviously, this was nerve wracking....but the friendly motel owners were very reassuring (as I ridiculously went downstairs to the motel lobby to seek um, shelter) in that a twister hasn't veered close to the inn in all the years they were there. Glad that the owners didn't jinx their safety record with this comment! All-in-all, I'll continue using Super 8 as long as I go on these quick trips to awesome places. I'll probably book a fancy hotel room whenever I go back to Hawaii or something, but in the meantime, Super 8 is the way to go if you need an inexpensive place to rest and sleep while you're doing crazy things like jumping out of an airplane and whatnot. That is all.
