Incredible hidden gem of a store! Absolutely loved it. Spent 45 mins just wandering and browsing at titles. Really wish I had set more of a budget- not because evreything is expensive, but because it's as though this store was tailored to my interests! Dosent have to be EVREYONES fav, but it certainly is mine. Cashier is helpful and just lovely. Gives good Recommendations and- gosh I just love evreything about this place. Highly HIGHLY recommended to everyone and anyone. Absolutely beautiful. But don't expect to spend too much money-prices are insanely low for insanely HIGH quality. read more

This is one of my favorite bookstores, not just in the area but in the state. The selection is wonderful. They have all the Flashman books, local history, local flora and fauna, and a robust mystery section. Everyone working there is so nice. They engage in what you are interested and always have great recommendations. This time I picked up a couple of books for my kids. Next time we are in town I will be adding to my bookshelves. read more

Walked into the store - cashier did not smile or greet us, almost even looked mad we entered. I said hello to her and she looked at me and walked away. Trying to get my son out of the store we mentioned to him we don't see any books you would like - which in turn the cashier made a mean face gesture. Pretty ironic considering the front door sign says "no hate here". We felt pretty hated! read more

Schmoopie and I like Sunriver Books & Music. Once there was an enormous dog inside. I was told by the woman working at the checkout that the dog isn't usually inside the store. There was a larger stuffed toy horse inside one year as well. I think it's for the kids... although I'm not 100 percent sure. There were a few books that I wanted to buy. Sometimes, though the owner or counter person isn't manning the store... and this location has been closed in the past... when Schmoopie and I were staying at a timeshare nearby. There isn't a path to walk on anymore there is an overpass and a better way to drive to this location should you want to go and buy or peruse a local bookstore. I haven't asked any of the booksellers about which pieces of sheet music the store currently has on the shelves... but maybe this location will have what you are searching for in that regard. There were a few times when Schmoopie had to ask for where the local grocery store is... it's within walking distance for tomatoes and potatoes for dinnertime(s). Most of the prices are listed inside the books or on the back cover. Books are less expensive than say a fancy steak dinner... but... you could get that as well in this neighborhood (a fancy steak dinner)... it's best to peruse after you are satiated and no longer hangry (hungry + angry = hangry). Don't take my word for it.... it's a known fact. read more

They were the friendliest people ever! And during a time when masks were not required (May 19th, 2022) the staff all wore masks. Because of this, we went inside, since we have a newborn and are trying to keep him safe. Great, clean, well-organized store! Highly recommend. read more

I absolutely love Sunriver Books & Music. On a scale of 1-5, this store is a 100+. The owners Deon and Richard are absolutely amazing and their extensive knowledge and love of books makes shopping in their store a real treat. On countless occasions, Deon has spent time with me and my kids to learn what we like to read and sparked interest in new books with great recommendations. The store itself is very bright and inviting and has a great selection of books for all ages and interests. I have had the pleasure of attending several of their book club meetings recently, which are so well organized and provide a fantastic discussion of thoughtfully selected books. I highly recommend ordering books by calling the store or visiting the website when you are not in Sunriver. They make it easy and ship the books directly to our home in Portland. It makes me happy to be able to support this outstanding small business in person and from afar. There are many things I love about Sunriver, and Sunriver Books & Music is at the top of the list. read more

Just a very meh experience here. The staff is not friendly. Cashier didn't say a word to us at check out. When we walked in, my daughter asked if they have graphic novels and the answer was "no we don't have anything like that. Just books". FYI graphic novels ARE books AND you do have them because we found Dog Man books in the kids section. We're just confused because usually bookstore owners are happy people because they are surrounded by books and books are awesome. No one is happy here and they don't seem to know anything about books. The kids each found several books which is why the two stars, but in the future, we'll avoid this shop and will go to Bend instead for vacay books. read more

This is my very favorite book store in all the land. It is cute, quaint, has a ton of selection for such a small space, and it feels cozy. I love all the staff picks and thoughtful suggestions. I stop in here numerous times when I am in Sunriver, not because I need more books but because I love talking to the staff who know great reads. They are always happy to visit and recommend books. I wish we had a local store like this in Olympia. Great books and puzzles, etc for all ages. read more

I have visited this bookshop about a dozen times over the years, and always enjoyed lovely service and an wonderful selection. I love to support small businesses and this one gets top marks, we went in looking for some quirky texts for our teachers to show our appreciation for them, and were delighted to be received by Grant, who gave us a wonderful selection to choose from. We walked away with a couple of very specific and wonderful choices that we know our teachers will appreciate. Don't walk past this place in the village! It's well worth the visit. read more

I love bookstores. I love Sunriver. We are homeowners here and frequent all the businesses often. My girls have purchased many favorite titles here over the years. My preference is non-fiction to which the selections are few and the ones that are available are more likely to see in one's personal home collection. Completely one sided, politically and spiritually. Just one example of why audio and online book sellers are putting brick and motor stores out of business. It's unfortunate the buyers are not considerate of other perspectives. read more

I can spend a week in Sunriver avoiding the Sunriver Village shopping area entirely, and be happy about it. But one afternoon I was arm-twisted into dropping into the village for coffee, and ended up at Sunriver Books & Music. About the music: Forget it. I think they had about 25 titles, mostly in the easy listening category. This is a bookstore, not a CD shop. As a small bookstore, this place is fantastic. An amazingly solid selection of fiction and non-fiction titles for a smallish space, displayed in a manner that ignores heavy emphasis of bestsellers and such, and seems to focus on what the proprietors think are good books for people to read. Noticeably absent was the typical stand of invective-filled political diatribes that are on display somewhere near the entrance to every Barnes & Noble. (There's something dispiriting about walking into a bookstore and having the first or second display of books that you encounter be a pile of hateful crap written by manipulative political hacks pandering to angry, humorless, mouth-breathing morons.) I picked up "A Voyage Long and Strange: Rediscovering the New World" by Tony Horwitz. It's about the exploration and settlement of the Americas prior to the landing of the Pilgrims, the non-event that our nation adopted as our creation myth and that we observe as the seed crystal of manifest destiny. The owner told me at the checkout stand that it was an entertaining and education read, and had been the pick of his book club earlier that summer. He was right. read more

I love hanging out in Sunriver and just reading. A few years ago I stopped into the bookstore and it has become a must go to ever since. I don't know her name but there is a lady in there who seems to know every book, and can give you her thoughts right down to specific character development. I can't remember the book I read last month! I don't pack books for Sunriver vacations anymore, and make this place my first stop when I get there. A lot of local authors, and a large selection of books for such a small shop. read more

A nice little book store in sunriver. Not a ton of chairs to sit and read, but it had a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Our kids found some books they were excited about. I also noticed they had a big selection of travel books, including some Bend & Portland centric books, which might be good for someone who is on vacation. read more

They have a great selection of books but they are extremely unfriendly and unaccomodating. The day before we purchased a book only to discover that we had already read it. We went back asking for an exchange and were told "no". We didn't even expect or want our money back only a different book by the same author. If you buy anything here make sure you won't need to change your mind, even if its just the next day. read more
