Road trip to Oregon Part 2 -inspired me to purchase this book.

Really nice bookstore that has a good selection of books, maps, calendars, toys and nifty gift ideas (Yeti quote inspired post-its). They also have a room off to the left side of the bookstore with a couple of long wooden tables and benches to sit, relax, and read. Friendly customer service-they allow outside drinks and dogs.

Two of the kids enjoying their books on the lawn outside the store.

We were recently and Sisters and picked up a stack full of awesome books. The sales woman with the straight brown hair was super helpful and knowledgeable on the books and helped us find the right blend for our three kids under seven. They had a great selection of educational toys - the kind of toys the kids like and parents are excited to buy. The store feels very safe and we were able to browse since we were there in the evening and there weren't many other people. The kids really enjoyed the books and made them very happy. I can't speak highly enough about the sales woman (I didn't get her name but she had long brown hair with bangs) who helped us. She was competent, kind, and safe. We will definitely stop by the next time we are in town. There was a woman with shorter hair who was a little brisk with us but we waited and the other woman was able to help us.

Cute shops galore await you as you walk down nearly every street in the little town of Sisters Oregon. I love wandering about, in out of the decor, antique, food and specialty market stores that exist here. However in all the time I have been walking around Sisters. I have missed this book store. Just two blocks back really from the main street of shops and tourist attractions, is a cute little book store that reminds me of the corner book stores of old. Just walking through Sisters conjures up day dreams of the old west. I find myself lost in a Louis L'Amour novel, chasing the ruthless rustler, or dueling it out with a hardened gun fighter. My imagination runs wild when exploring the many nooks and crannies of Sister. So exploring a book store full of many adventures to escape into fits naturally for me. On my last trip to Sisters just a couple of weeks ago I stumbled, not do to intoxication, on to this great little store. Its incredible organized, with lots of unique books. What stood out to me the most was the many books on our region. Oregon, Central Oregon, Oregon History, and just about anything else you could think of. Paulina Springs is not super large, yet has a great selection of quality books. Occasionally I would find a used book in among the mostly new books they offer. The lady the help me was very knowledgeable, and so enthusiastic about the store and having me there as a customer. Felt good to be appreciated for my purchase. This is a book store I will make a point to visit from now often on each of my trips. Thank you Paulina Springs.

Bookstores exert an almost magnetic pull on me and there are times when I lose all sense of time…read moreand can be lost for hours browsing the shelves. My favorites are the small town bookstores with a staff that isn't shy about making suggestions. This store is located on the main street in Sisters and has a solid collection of used and rare books and maps. They scored major points because not only was the staff helpful, they had a used paperback I've been trying to purchase for FIVE years. Thank goodness that search is finally over.

It doesn't take three days to go through, but the quality of used books here is great. The place is just so neat, so clean so well organized that you can't go wrong. The quality of the used books is also top notch. They appear to buy only the best so they can offer the best. I also must say that the prices are not what you would expect from that type of quality. They are very comparable to the other used bookstores that I have reviewed and I have never put a book back on the shelf because I thought it was too high priced. The staff here is 10 stars and very helpful. The most helpful I have met at any bookstore ever. Lonesome carries a great amount of antique and collectible books also, for the really deep treasure hunter. I enjoy stopping here every time I travel through Sisters Oregon. Check it out if you're in the area. I have few words to say about Lonesome Water Books. The store really speaks for it's self. 5 stars across the board on this one! Awesome store!

It's bigger than I thought it would be, and the books were incredibly well curated. I had a hard time deciding what to buy, but was really happy with the book that I found (Mobituaries by Mo Rocca) because its cover was facing me. This store also has a nice selection of gifts, especially puzzles. The owner is very friendly, and there's even a bookstore cat!

If you're looking for a neighborhood bookstore with charm, wit, and the kind of staff that actually…read moreseem glad you walked in--even with wild, indecisive children in tow--Herringbone Bookstore is your spot. The owner (you'll know him by the majestic beard and Jedi-like calm) has created a space that feels more like the clubhouse of a literary wizard than a traditional store. My kids regularly burst in with chore money and vague intentions ("I want a cool book... or maybe a weird trinket... or both?"), and he always helps them find something they're excited about--usually tossing in a friendly discount and a bookmark like some benevolent book dragon guarding his hoard of stories and treasures. Then there's the store cat. Friendly. Regal. Frequently seen offering her belly like she's your new best friend--until she suddenly decides you've overstepped and smack, you've been chosen for sacrifice. My youngest considers her a highlight of every visit. Herringbone has an eclectic and well-curated mix: books (of course), LPs, mildly offensive candles that make great gifts (for the right people), a fun kids' corner with books and toys, and the owner is always happy to order something if it's not in stock. It's our go-to spot for birthday gifts, random literary whims, and just plain cozy vibes. Highly recommend. Just don't be fooled by the cat's exposed belly. You've been warned.
