The fairways are in Terrible condition!!! They need to spend some money and let their groundskeeper get it together. Most of the greens were ok with the exception of a few. If you are going to spend $100 playing golf in St George, pick another course!! It's difficult, and could be fun if they fixed the grass. read more

The layout of the course is nice . The holes make for an easy, relaxing round of golf . However, many of the greens are literally chewed up . Not sure as to why. The owner has a son on the PGA tour . I'm not sure that the he wants to be affiliated with this course . read more

Ok course. Ok prices. The new restaurant, Back Spin Bistro that just opened looks nice and fresh and much nicer than Gurus or Chef Hogg's, was, once again, just ok. My burger patty was smaller than the bun and pretty much just ok. Nothing special at all. Tasted fine but nothing was on it as far as sauces go. Just plain. The waiter asked if I wanted fry sauce, and I said yes, but he never brought it and was very late at refreshing our drinks, which we said was too late. The garlic fries were very good but nothing many with the meal. Our biggest complaint with the prior to restaurants was that the food took too long to get to your table. And tonight it may be improved a little bit, but not very much. Although they do bring bread to your table, which was a nice touch. So overall, I'd give it maybe a five out of 10 for our first visit for dinner. We will try breakfast sometime soon to make a final decision, but if you live in Sunriver, I'm just looking for an OK Burger and a beer or something else that's not overly priced, I guess it would be a good place to eat. read more

I had heard this course had issues with their greens going back to last year. Read as many reviews as I could, however could not find anything too recent to find out if they were any better. So I contacted the Head Pro there and told him I am seeing lots of reviews about the greens and tee boxes just being awful and hardly playable. I was told not too worry, that by April they will be top notch. The problem arose from overfertilizing or something last fall?? So I booked the course for our annual buddy golf and gambling trip. MISTAKE.. first thing I heard when we checked in was they were punching "5 or 6 of the greens on the front 9 because they were not coming back as quick as the rest of the greens." First 11 greens were punched, full of sand and just plain awful. Why they waited that long to do anything to repair those greens is ridiculous! It was more than a fertilizing issue, absolutely horrible greens and tee boxes were not much better. In addition, the layout is pretty benign, all the par fours are the same,..slight dogleg with fairway bunkers on the right. I know it was April, but anything off the fairway was just hardpan waiting for the dormant grass to come back. I'd wait quite a while to play this track again, if ever, and would need to see some great reviews before even considering playing this one again. Very disappointing. read more

Front 9 greens are in horrible condition, Tee-boxes are sparse in grass. Starter was very apologetic in the condition of the course but there was no mention of it at the club house when I checked in. I didn't have much choice as everything in St. George was booked. Now I know why I was able to get on. Back 9 not as bad but still not in great shape. Staff is friendly but a little secretive if you ask me. I normally play desert golf in the Palm Springs area. Carts always have ice in coolers, you don't have to ask for it, there is usually a couple of wasters in the cooler as well. Neither were here. Small bucket of balls was $5. Not a bad price but hey, comp me a small bucket because of your course condition. The range is good, practice green like the rest bad. I liked the course layout and can see why people would want to play there. Maybe next Spring the course will be up to par. Probably not before then. read more

Desperately needed to play golf during this pandemic. Nevada courses closed and I found out Sun River was open. Called and got Conner on the line and he explained they manage Blooming CC also. He booked our tee times including taking advantage of a twilight special at Bloomington. Really enjoyed both courses and both restaurants (take out only). The people were wonderful and the golf was superb! Plan on going back in a couple weeks. They are very busy so if you decide to go book your tee times before your hotels (plenty of those btw). Even though there were busy we got done in about 3 1/2 hours for each. read more

I realize you have the right to run your course any way you like, and I have a right to play any course I want. But I have the right to share my experience with others so they can make an informed decision on your course. I have been playing your course since it open, even when you had problems with your water and it ruined your fairways. I've always enjoyed playing your course, and have felt your fees were fair. But the last time I came to play your course that all changed. It cost me over $102 to play 18 holes with a cart. I have a Dixie Direct card and live here year round, so when I was told Dixie Direct couldn't be used on Sat. and that it would cost me $84, I had to stop and think about it. I was already there and I had checked some of the other courses, and I would have to wait quite a while before I could get on, and that was why I chose to drive clear across town to play your course, plus I thought it was going to cost far less than $84. So I decided To go ahead and pay the $84 and remember to never play Sunriver on Sat. anymore. Then they told me I would have to share a cart with someone, which I told them I couldn't because my wife was going to ride with me. They said that was fine but I would have to pay an additional $18 for her to ride. I said I didn't feel that was right since she wasn't golfing just riding, and they said that was the rules, so I paid the $18 and left with a sour taste in my mouth. I decided that would be the last time I'll play Sunriver. Just so you know your course was at best in okay shape, which I realize is totally subjective, so you may not agree. I,m sure this isn't going to change anything about how you run your course, and it probably won't affect your play much, but it's making me feel better. We're all dealing with inflation and high gas prices so I get it your trying to make a profit and keep the course going. Well your going to have to do it with one less patron. Golf course looked ok but we had a 10:03 tee time and where pushed to be out on the course at 9:30 no time to practice putting or relax Also we where joined by a single not mentioned by pro shop no big deal but it's nice to be informed. Staff was friendly. Not a great experience. read more

Had a wonderful experience at this course! Few friends and I decided last minute to book a round of golf before heading out of town. We needed clubs and the course was able to accommodate the 3 of us with nice TaylorMade sets. If you've rented clubs at a course before, you know it's a crap shoot on what you will get, this course gets 5 stars for providing nice sets for rentals!! The course was in good shape, just a few months from being in great shape so I shall return. The greens are in the difficult side and no it's not because I missed a lot of putts lol The GPS system on the carts is second to none, made the round that much more enjoyable. All in all a great course for the money and I would highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

Played here the first time last weekend all 18, had a blast shot one of my best rounds of golf ever, was in the middle of the day which was very hot course offered little shade. Was definitely drained by the end of the day. The golf carts are the best anywhere I've been, club head washer alone is worth golfing this course not to mention the cooler, touch screen tv and ball washer on every cart, cart restricts you from using improper cart etiquette which can be annoying at times but it keeps the course very nice. Game play can be slow, older people golf here a lot and clubhouse has allowed groups of 8 on which we were waiting in 115 degree heat watching 8 people putt was frustrating but I enjoyed everything else so much it still has 5 stars. read more

The course here is beautiful....great views, well maintained, good price (even better if you buy online from golfnow.com). But what really makes this course is the golf boards!!!! It's like surfing the earth :) adds a little more excitement to the game if you ask me. The golf boards were so much fun I now look specifically for courses that offer them. read more

Outstanding coarse with great value. No inconsistency and the greens are predictable. Very friendly staff, they made sure we knew where to find the first tee box as well as any other pertinent information. Challenging yet playable. Play from the orange tees if you're not a long hitter. Can't wait to play here again. Best coarse in Saint George hands down. read more

He took time to answer questions on the course and even told us some fun stories of pros who had played the course like Ricky Fowler. The front nine was straight. The back nine was what was amazing. It is obvious that someone has put a lot of effort into this course in the recent past. New T Boxes, sand traps have been added, removed and replaced to make the course fair but challenging. The greens putt pure at this point. I wish people would repair more ball marks, but that's not a groundskeeper problem. There is plenty of room to get in trouble; a challenge without being overwhelming. There aren't a lot of those gimmick holes, it is a pure 18. Medium hills, but plenty of waste bunkers to keep you honest. The club now plays 7100 yards which makes it a long course by any standard. The clubhouse is wonderful and the staff is both friendly and helpful. The club house dining room is stupendous. Great food at reasonable prices. I recommend this course to anyone. I would call ahead for a reservation since a lot of locals enjoy the course and mornings and late afternoons can be tight. read more

Had hard time getting them on the phone, they forgot to turn off the nights (This was at 3 in the afternoon.) Got out to the course, found it to be in disrepair, flat, not really that great of a course. For the amount it costs to golf out there you would think they could maybe water a little more. Carts we ok, but be prepared to to some walking, they had an old man running around yelling at anyone that got off of the cart path, this in 98 degree weather. read more

This course is great if you like to be lost, very little signage to direct you to the next hole. No coolers on the carts and you are not allowed to bring your own. No beverage cart on a Sunday morning. They do not have towels in the carts. Very few water coolers on the course, and with no cooler, no way to keep water cold. Carts just stop when you get five feet off of the cart path, when you go the wrong way. Only one flushing restroom on the course, and of course it does not have a sign telling you it's a restroom. There is however, one unisex porta potty on the back nine. And what is that nasty smell at the ladies tees on 18? That being said the course itself was nice and enjoyable. But, we will not be back. For the price there are better places to golf in the Mesquite/St George area. read more

The joke was on us. Paying $59 a person to head out on a course with fairways that were recently reseeded, with the pace of play extremely slow. After the first hole we were already 10 mins behind and it continued to get worse due to the age of the players and no Marshall to help with the flow. Finally at the turn we moved ahead of two groups, played two holes, moved out once again to finish 17 & 18. Will never play this course again ( even for free). Very frustrating day. read more

I'm from St. George and play most of the courses in town. I have always loved Sun River because it's always in good shape I can take anybody there because there are easy enough holes to make it fun but they through a few good challenging holes at you as well. The golf carts have club cleaners on them which I love! They also have GPS and they are always clean which is always a great first impression. They will have my business for years to come. read more

This is a great place to play golf. Very friendly staff and the course has a wonderful layout and beautiful views. Great for advanced and beginner players. The course is beautiful and I've taken hundreds of break taking pictures of it at sunset. I can't say enough good things about except the following. There are rumors they put poison in the grass to kill off the rabbits. And on the last hole there is a building and area on the right that smells god awful. Also they need to do something about all the bugs - they swarm the course and last year I got 30 somethings bites. Now for the bad news... see below Had a run-in with the "supposed" manager on the course after hours - was sitting down by the pond on the gravel letting my dogs run around one night, Mind you we've had permission from the management since 2008 to let the dogs run on the course after hours as long as we follow the rules (no driving on the green etc) and picking up any messes for the most part my dogs stay on the course driving lane - they like to run along with the cart. We even have a waving relationship with the after hours grounds crew one who brings his dog and it runs all over the course and loves the sprinklers. We have several of our families who own homes in SunRiver and two who have homes on the course itself. I was terrified when I saw these regular headlights come flying towards us from the buildings - it was dark and I had no idea who it could be so I got the dogs in the cart and went back on the driving path as fast I could towards the clubhouse exit. In less than 2 minutes this REGULAR CAR comes driving up at least 40mph on the pathway designed for only golfcarts. He had come around from the long side which if you drove max speed 25mph in the golfcart it would take at least 4 or 5 minutes to get where we were at. He pulls and slams his brakes and says Whats Up? I didn't know what to say I just said we are here enjoying the view and then he starts waving his arms and yelling at me to get off the course and it was private property and acted like he was very intoxicated. He said hes in charge of management and operations at Sun River. He also stated that he repeatedly has driven a regular car on the course.. are you kidding me? He is a psycho and really scared me. I later found out that the course USED to be privately owned until they were almost bankrupt but in 2016 Sun river Properties bailed them out. read more

The course was not reseeded last fall and at the current time the fairways are painted dead grass or painted dirt. The current situation is deplorable to pay winter rates is ridiculous. There are a least 4 better courses in the St George are that were over seeded and are much more fun and a much better value. I would not recommend this course to anyone at this time. Ed C read more
