Amir is always helpful with any, and all, questions we have. He is also very courteous, professional, and promptly returns any email or message, and usually within 30 minutes or less. I had a family issue that took almost two months to remedy, and I called to tell him about the issue. The entire program was put on hold while I took care of the problem, and I was free to take care of it without any phone calls asking me when they could start the install. I did not know this until I called to find out when they would begin installing the system. They told me they did not want to bother me while I was taking care of the family problem, and were waiting until I called them to let them know it was okay to start. My Wife and I bought a home in Fontana CA over a year ago and decided to go solar. So in early November we contacted a sales rep and said we decided to go with Sunrun since they advertise at Dodger stadium. We also had gotten a letter with a promo code for a $500 prepaid Visa through Dodger stadium if we go with Sunrun. So we made the 20 year commitment with Sunrun and after about 2 months had the solar panels installed and they are up and running great. The bill is exactly what the rep said it would be but we never got our $500 prepaid VISA. My Wife has called corporate a couple of times and they keep giving her the runaround. So what Sunrun advertises with Dodger Stadium is false advertising. Everything else was just fine though but I hate companies that can't keep their word! The promo was at sunrun.com/playball. My experience with Sunrun has been nothing but great. Bought system through Costco and representative Chris was informative ,not pushy, and willing to get any information you need about the solar. He helped me get set up with the order, work with scheduling and even after the fact he checks in with me on how things are going. Solar so far has been great. I am new to solar and did my research with companies. Sunrun came recommended. I completed the process and during the survey they realized they could not install solar panels on a metal roof. Their solution was a new roof. Obviously, that's not going happen!! Once they heard I wanted to cancel, that is when their behavior changed. A lady I spoke with on the phone was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I am definitely glad I did not end up with them. Be careful of these big companies and their promises. Worst Experience EVER!!!!!!!! We signed our contract with Sunrun in February of 2020 and we still Do Not Have Solar!!!! Turns out they subcontract to Planet Solar to put in the system and get you running. Sunrun does not communicate with their subcontractor and their subcontractor does not communicate with Sunrun. EVERY time I call to find out about the next step I am told by Sunrun that I have to contact Planet Solar. I did not hire them YOU subcontracted THEM!!!! After 8 months I gave up and started making calls and playing the role of communicator between the two companies. When I to get a hold of Planet Solar 60% of the time I am told I have to talk to Sunrun, who when I call tell me to talk to Planet Solar. The other 40% of the time Planet Solar doesn't know what their installation department is doing or even have any notes. I have had them show up for inspections with the city 4 times now to sign off on the final switch to solar and the work has even been completed. Let me be clear there are no issues with my house or electrical. The work the technicians are suppose to do simply has not been done. The last technician who came to my house spent 40 minutes telling me how he had to redo everything because the technician sent out before didn't know what he was doing and used the wrong gauge of wiring. DO NOT DO NOT and I will say it again DO NOT USE SunRun or their horrible subcontractor Planet Solar!!!!!! read more

Poor CS, do not put customer first do not honor agreements even when documented. Haven't received one email back and we "went live" back in April. Needless to say SCE is billing us standard rate because "documents still haven't been received". Quick to send you to collections because didn't honor agreement. I have had Sunrun solar for about 5 years and have been happy up until recently. They sent a workman out to my home in December 2021 to change a meter. I then noticed in February I wasn't had not been generating any power. I contacted Sunrun and they sent another worker out to check the system and he immediately discovered the issue. The system was "off"! It had never been turned back on since the worker in December 2021 changed the meter, he forgot to turn on the system before he left. So for at least 2 months I did not generate anything at all. Per Sunrun, they met the contracted amount of power they guaranteed per the contract so they are not willing to take ANY responsibility for the 2 months that I lost which would have of course been a benefit to me since it was my power I pay for. I am so highly disappointed with them and absolutely refuse to refer them any longer unless or until they reimburse me for what their workman did. I know we are human and it was human error but why do I have to be the one to take that loss...Sunrun should take responsibility for their workers. I have mailed a letter to both Sunrun Corp in San Francisco and Utah over 2 weeks ago and NOT so much as even a reply. I will now file a complaint with the better business bureau and hopefully they will do what is right. If not, small claims court will be one of my next steps as well as to notify Costco of my unsatisfactory experience. This is. Stay clear of this company. They hired an independent contractor (Complete Solar) who knocked on my dooor and signed us up for solar. He installed system even after we informed him that our HVAC system was being installed within a few days. I told him that we should wait because my bills did not reflect 12 months of usage of the HVAC. He insisted that would not be a problem that he would allot for that consumption knowing that he was not able to do that. He continued and now I'm stuck with a payment to sunrun and high energy bills to SCE because the solar panels are not covering the consumption of the HVAC because he never alloted for it like he said he would. Finally thanks to Semper Solaris I was able to reach the owner of Sunrun Lynn Jurich after not being able to receive any relief from either company because they would claim neither was responsible for me because one receives my money every month and the other installed the system . so they blow me off amongs eachother . After I emailed Lynn Jurich owner of Sunrun she never spoke with me directly, she send a minion of hers to contact me. That representative informed me that there was nothing they could do but offer a $150.00 credit to turn things around and $1,000.00 referral fee on a second unit, adding insult to injury considering that a second system needs to be installed to rectify their wrong doing.They did not take any accountability for their independent contractor who was deceptive in order to get the sale, they're insane If they think I will every reffer anyone to them! Purchase a house with panels already leased through SunRun. The previous owners did not live in the house full-time so the system is smaller than we need. I was told the only option is to add on a whole new (second) system...which would cost more than the first system. So I would be paying over double....even though they wouldn't be doubling the amount of the panels. They really need to have an "upgrade" option for home buyers who buy into a lease. Also, the system has never been cleaned/ maintained.... and I was told they are supposed to do it regularly. read more

I purchased a house that already has sunrun solar. It's been 4 months and Sunrun has still not allowed me to access the account that manages my home's solar. Despite having open customer services cases, multiple phone calls and emails ... NO ONE is helping. So does it work? How would I know. My wife and I bought a house about 9 months ago. Since then, we have thought about going solar, but we really became serious about it when another company's door to door salesman came by. We looked into that first company and we were not impressed with its reputation. Additionally, the first company was a PPA situation, which we were not okay with. For us, we preferred to purchase a system or not have one at all. However, that started the ball rolling and we looked into two other companies, one being Sunrun. The Sunrun and the third company had comparable prices, though Sunrun was the slightly higher price of the two. However, of the two, Sunrun had the better system. The Sunrun system designed for us used a 330 watt panel verses the other company that used a 295 watt panel. In addition, I had heard of the company that makes the 330 panel vs I have never heard of the other panel company. Granted, that could mean nothing, but I know that the company that makes our panel will be around for the next 25 years. Furthermore, the Sunrun system has a battery whereas the other company's system did not. Hence, the slightly higher cost with Sunrun. Another factor in our decision was the salesperson. Cory Ventura (I'll include his contact information below) spent a lot of time answering all of our questions. He picked up the phone when we called, even when he was on a date (his girlfriend must have the patience of Job), and the one time he didn't answer immediately, he called us back within a few minutes. To say the guy was on it is an understatement. The other company never met us, preferring to meet via the internet. There is nothing wrong with that, but the meeting was more like a sales presentation verses a conversation about our needs and concerns and they never really asked us for any input beyond wanting to know if things sounded good. The other company never did a follow up call either. In a nutshell, Cory came across as if he was looking for a future reference whereas the other company came off as if they were looking for a sale and nothing more. Another difference between the two companies was the initial contract. With Sunrun, their initial contract allows them to inspect our roof and house for any problems. After that, if we decide to move forward we sign the real contract and we have 3 days to cancel the contract after that. With the other company, they wanted us to sign the real contract and they would give us 10 days to back out of it from the day of signing, not the day of inspection, if we decided to go ahead with the installation. To me, if you believe in your product, you don't need to use a high pressure sales tactic like the other company was doing. As a consumer, I much preferred Sunrun's method. As with everyone getting solar, our biggest concern is if this is going to save us money. Running the numbers, we figure we will at least break even the first few years, but as time goes on, and electricity costs rise, we'll be saving money. Especially, since Southern California Edison is starting a TOU system (Time of Use), which is confusing as it has five or six different plans and it is going to drive costs up dramatically. One thing that does help is that we are in Southern California. We have a south facing roof and it is completely clear of obstructions. The scary part is that until the system is installed, we as consumers won't know if going solar was a good or bad move. Looking around, there is very little in the way of consumers sharing their bill with others. Every company does have promotional videos that they themselves make. Clearly, those are going to be very positive towards any company putting those out. However, I've only found one video series of someone sharing their bill. Therefore, once our system is in, I'll be sharing our bill on YouTube and, hopefully, that will help others decide if solar is right for them. At this point, however, we have just signed permission to inspect our roof. I will update our 5 star rating to a lower rating if need be, but at this point I would highly recommend Sunrun. This is the worst decision I ever made getting solar from these crucks. Battery backup only has worked once for the time it was told us. One time it lasted 4 hours. They have an excuse foreveythinf that happens. Even went to the BBB with no results. It took the over 2 months to come out and check. All for a tripped circuit breaker. Overall experience with REC as a Solar Installation company in partnership with Sun Run. I recently signed a contractual agreement to have REC place solar panels on the roof of my home and the overall experience was pleasant. Amir Maki was my Sales Consultant and I would advise you to ask for him as he is the ultimate professional before, during, and after the project is completed. I had a few issues with REC and the installation however, the system is up and running and I am anxiously awaiting the results from my Edison bill to see the offset of solar vs. buying KWH directly from Edison. I would recommend this company. They are responsive to you needs, they practice a true consultative approach to the process and are not the type of organization that you have to escort out of you home because they are pushing so hard for you to sign the contract. If you make it clear to them up front that you would like an informational session to learn about Solar energy, REC, SunRun and their key differntial vs. cthe competition, you will be very pleased with their consultations and how much you can save by thinking Solar in SoCal without an enormous outlay of money upfront. Stay away from Sunrun! It is the worst company that I had to deal with! I've been trying to get them to visit my property in order to fix the display on the panel for past 3 months! I've done everything they asked me including pictures and videos of the panel! The panel is making loud clicking noise that radiates inside the house and I'm being told it's normal! The panels are dirty and they are supposed to wash it, however I'm being told that it's producing it's KW! Absolutely do not buy property that has a lease with Sunrun because they will have you sign a form that basically says I can't sue! My story starts out OVER a year ago. The panels were installed at the end of summer so when our Edison bill significantly dropped, we assumed they were working. Cut to May of this year and the Edison bill is climbing, something doesnt seem right. Called Sunrun and it turns out the panels were not communicating with the grid. They get that issue resolved rather quickly and say we are good to go. 2 weeks later I check the Edison app and it still doesnt look like we are getting credit for our production. I call Edison and am told the NET metering paperwork was never turned in so we do not have permission to operate!! Since then I email Sunrun almost daily, I've filled out the paperwork again, I've called and emailed supervisors AND managers.... on the RARE occasion that I actually receive a response, I'm told that the paperwork and everything has been sent to Sunruns NAM metering department and they are "still waiting for a response". It has been over 4 MONTHS since we figured out the problem and they STILL haven't managed to turn in the paperwork to Edison. In my line of work I would have been fired by now if I was so inept that I couldn't manage to file a simple document in a timely manner! Oh....and did I mention, I am STILL being billed!!! What they really lack is compassion. We have major leaks in our roof and are having the whole roof redone. Do they not realize how much a roof actually cost, apparently not. I call customer service to get the process of taking the panels down while the roof is being done they proceed to tell us that it's going to cost us over 2,000 dollars to remove and reinstall the panels. The girl in customer service then told me to contact a contractor to have them removed. (Why should another company have to do THEIR work). I think if you are already a customer you shouldn't be charged an arm and a leg to have the equipment removed and put back on to have extremely necessary repairs done. read more

Sunrun was employees were giving me wrong information about my monthly bill and when I said I wanted to put a claim in they told me they were going to look into it and never did. Someone in the billing or customer care department was trying to rip me off for my hard earned money by tilling me I owed a higher price a month. Now cause I have refused to pay them Sunrun has potentially put me in a position were I'm going to get sent to collections. A Sunrun Representatives came to my house today asking my Husband to cut down a tree in our yard so the neighbors can have solar installed. The Rep explained Sunrun would pay for it but my Husband told him No. The Rep did not take no for an answer and proceeded to call my husband a "Dickhead" which our two young children overheard as well. My husband could have gone outside and followed that up with an altercation, but he does not stoop that low for men that act like children. We are teaching our sons to be better men. The Representative did not provide his name and his ID badge was not clear in the video. However, we have his full face, clothing, and all that was said. He does not deserve a job representing any company with his insulting, juvenile behavior. Never will I ever have anyone in my family or whom I am associated with get anything from Sunrun. I received a bill from the Edison Company for $900. That means my system was down. If it was being monitored look like someone would have text me to check the electrical box to make sure it's was ok on my end before a month have pass. But they did contact me and repaid it. But once again it happened and charged again for $500. I do like having the panels but there monitoring service need improvement read more

When your representatives came to my home to explain the program, they stated that I would no longer pay Edison for electricity, that Edison would go directly to you since I'm paying my service through your company. They also mentioned that I will no longer be affected with the 8% increase Edison usually does on a yearly basis... that I would only pay the $76 a month. Now I'm still paying Edison and your company. Now I'm stuck with your company for a while due to getting WRONG information and I fully trusted your representatives... there was 2 one was in training. I am very disappointed and feel so betrayed with your company honestly. It's so sad that we have to deal with companies like you that take advantage of customers just for money. Companies like you make many not trust that companies want the best for you and build distrust for many other companies out there. There's a golden rule out there "honesty is the best policy".... I put Vivint Solar in in 2020. I was told that Vivint monitored the system to make sure everything was working properly. In October 2021 Vivint Solar was purchased by SunRun in August 2021 or there about. I got a bill that said I owed $0. I checked my account and found that I had not produced any electricity since August 30, 2021. I attempted to contact SunRun but the chat session said it would be over 30 minutes for a person to help me. I stayed on but after about 25 minutes the connection was terminated. I finally found an email address and sent an email. No response for a week. I tried chatting again and after waiting 30 minutes I got connected. I requested a technician and was told that a technician would contact me in 10 business days. After two weeks I did another Chat and was told that a technician would be contacting me. A technician was finally scheduled but it would be 10 business days before he could come. Then I received an email that the appointment I had made was being changed to a time I was not available. I called and setup a new appointment. Again, I received an email stating that my appointment time had been changed again. When the technician finally came he spent 10 minutes here and told me that the converter board (DC to AC) was fried and he would have to order the part. It would take 10 business days. Well it has been 15 business days and I have called back to find out when the part would be in. I was told that they do not have it in the warehouse yet. I asked to talk to a manager and was told a manager would call me the next day. That was 4 days ago. My suggestion to everyone. Find another company to do your solar with. read more

Ever since we got solar panels installed it was a headache from the beginning. When they were finally done setting it up it took forever to get them working. We were told they were working and when we spoke with A sunrun representative they were not producing any energy. I feel like we were just going back and forth with sunrun trying to fix everything when it should have been the representative that sold us the system taking care of everything as promised. They just come to your door and talk beautiful to convince you but it's such a hassle. They even broke our roof when installing. It was just bad from the beginning. We also got promised a $300 gift card for signing up and we haven't seen it. When we ask the representative he just says it should be coming in. I think it's all bull****. Not only has it been a nightmare getting Sunrun to respond and fix the problems with our system, such as leaking roof and bad panels, getting them to respond and tell us the truth is way beyond them. If you finally get someone to answer, they bs you and then say they'll call you back with an answer that never happens. On top of that their system doesn't provide what they lead you to think it's going to produce. Had the system since 2010 and proposal showed in the 7th year I would be paying $700.00 where our actual bill this year is over $1600.00. When contacted about it they got into their computations and showed I actually saved $600 for the year where again I just paid $1800 for the year to SCE.. Sunrun installed solar on to my house. They did the big sales pitch about how much money I would save and all the BS. Well, I fell for it and it is costing me more now than before. I pay monthly for the solar, a small SCE bill, and then there is the accruing SCE bill that no one tells you about...oh, yes they did...They said, "SCE will owe you". More BS. Then my power went out and I thought ok, I have solar..NOPE...needs a special battery hook up. So I call them to ask where it is and why I don't have it. They tell me that if I add it to the solor....MY WARRANTY IS VOIDED!!!!!! They are in cahoots with SCE to gouge us. Why get solar if I still have no power when the lights go out. Frankly this whole industry if it's like this company is a total scam! The amount of electricity produced compared to the cost of the lease agreement doesn't make sense. I feel like I've been scammed and recommend everyone avoid this company. If I could give it a - 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 I would. My roof leaked after they put the equipment on initially, they did pay for the repairs. But when you add the whole thing up I would have been better off if I had just stuck with the electric company and skip this solar lease. True it was free to get it installed but $243 a month is more than I usually have for an electric bill and it doesn't make near 243 a month worth of electricity! I've been with Sunrun for approximately (3) years. Every single year my System has gone down or malfunctioned. I am currently waiting for my 3rd Inverter to be installed. The Customer Service is horrible. It takes weeks to get any Service Work done and there is absolutely no communication or updates from the Company or Field Service Supervisor or the person who is coordinating the Repair. Whenever something breaks/malfunctions replacement parts are always "on back order." How can they install new systems if so many parts are on back order? I have friends who went with other company(s) with few to no issues, not to mention they have much more detailed monitoring apps. If I could do this all over again I would have paid more attention to the negative reviews and gone with a different Solar Company.
