The absolute worst. Unfortunately the house I bought uses Sunrun, so we had no choice. I was encouraged to enroll to autopay and would be discounted $7.50 a month for using that service....LIES. I was charged the bill in addition to a separate charge of $7.50. I also was charged $7.50 for the month of July but the money for the bill was not taken. It wasn't until I received a notice from their "collections" department for $120.44 did I know that there was an issue. Speaking to customer service is another joke because you get the run around. I called and spoke to one representative and she placed me on hold, called the collections department only to reconnect with me and told me "I'm not sure" and " I can help you with the payment". When I asked to speak to the collections department, she said "I already did that". I was eventually transferred to the collections department to ask if there is any reason for the mix up with the bill money not being taken but being charged $7.50. When transferred to collections, I was told by the rep, "I don't know why you asked to be transferred, we already gave the information". He then proceeded to tell me he doesn't know why there was an issue. I learned during this call from both reps that the discount only applies if signing up with a bank account, although previously I was told I could use my debit card and still receive the discount. Do not use. I have had nothing but trouble with this company. I had signed an agreement where my Electric bill would be 0 and I would Sunrun 125.00. The Panels have been on my house for over two months and have not received any of the savings. The first issue has been that the installers screwed up the paperwork with Edison. This prevented Edison from connecting my house to the grid. Now that has been fixed, I looked online to see my power savings but nothing showed up. I called and was told my system was in a stand by mode. Now I am going to receive another electric bill when it should be 0. I called to complain and was told they would only give me a 50 credit when I have paid over 200 last month that should have been free to Edison and I am going to receive another bill over that same amount this month. read more

I shopped solar for a while before deciding to go with Sunrun thru Costco believing that the Costco name would mean better service but I was wrong. My sale rep Stephen was great and very accommodating. I signed everything in Early September and waited two months for my project to start. On the day they showed up to my surprise they did not have the battery. I was told by the lead installer that their shipment would be in a couple days and the following week my battery would be installed. I waited a couple of week before trying to get a status from the project manager. Took a week to get a response to find out that there's still waiting. This continued for two months. In early January I got a call from the lender Costco uses and explained my frustration with the process and they were going to contact Sunrun on my behalf. Amazing coincidence that the day after Goodleap contacted Sunrun for me the battery was in. The installation of the battery went well and I waited another month for the city inspection and SCE to give permission to operate. I received permission to operation on Feb 1st and immediately emailed the project manager. She informed me that the PTO would be uploaded and they could start the remote startup of my panels. Three days later I email her and to my surprise the PTO was still not uploaded. I emailed her for escalation and also emailed her boss and still as of Monday the 7th Ive had no response as well as solar panels working. I talk to their customer service department and they state their nothing they can do I have to wait for the project manager. Meanwhile I am not only still paying my solar loan but also paying my electric bill. If your looking for a company who will communicate properly and have a sense of urgency then I suggest you go with another company. read more

We had several storms and had major roof leaks where the solar panels were installed. We made Over 30 calls till someone called us back from Sunrun. We Just got a person who was not authorized to do much answered our calls with promises to "get action" for us.....they did not. The first storm was in Dec. 2016 and storms continued into January 2017. Many weeks later Sunrun sent unlicensed men to fix our roof. They patched it....we wanted this to be fixed right....a patch was not the way to go. The unlicensed worker begged us that if in the future we had a problem...NEVER to call Sunrun but to call them directly. We asked "What about Mold?" They said---"Oh, we do not think you might have mold...but if you do see a sign of Mold--Just call us. Our 55 inch Samsung Flat Screen TV was ruined as rain from roof leaks from roof--poured rain into the back of our TV. We are supposed to get a check for $600 for this TV. NO check has come despite out many many calls, emails, etc. They promise but do not deliver. There are so many SOLAR Companies now.......Please do a complete due diligence of the Solar Co you are considering working with. read more

Application was okay as the agent, Kirk , did well in explaining the whole process. But no matter how i asked them to install more panels as the guaranteed kwH/month is not really enough to feel the savings brought by solar panels. i was told that the guaranteed power is only 550kwH/ month but the solar panels can generate power ¨ like crazy¨. Tier 1 with Edison is 15c and solar rate is 16.50. although i understand that i will still save a little somehow but my panels did not ¨ generate electricity like crazy¨ as i was made to believe. September Sunrun generated 330kwH and still i got 740kwH billed on Tier 4 !! i repeat ---- 740 kwH on Tier 4. First month, i paid my monthly bill of 89.89 and still got billed 300 + by Edison. On the second month, i noticed that there is an error message on the control panel. after 3 days they called me to say that i have to press escape button as there is error with the inverter. So last month, my bill with Edison went up to 400 and i found out that the solar did not generate power for a week!! i asked customer service why they were not able to detect that their panels is not generating power. The customer support said they wait for a week before they investigate ¨because 95% of the time" there is no problem. Following week, same error message keep coming up and i am not generating solar power. Last week, a certain Mike called me and asked my permission if they can replace the inverter as they received a new inverter that they had to order. of course i said yes they can come anytime. Today is a new week. same error message occured in the morning and no power at all at around afternoon. Inverter wasnt changed. Nobody from Sunrun showed up and not even a call. Nothing. I am going to sleep now with a useless defective brand new solar panel on my roof. read more

I will update this as I go and things begin to hopefully happen. We met with Raul in August of 2021and signed up for Sunrun. The site survey and roof inspection was quick and easy a few days later. I had to text Raul to ask what the next step was after a month of no communication after site survey. On September 23 they installed the solar panels and electrical (smooth and easy process). On October 15th I had to again text Raul asking for the next step to which his reply was "20-30 days after panel install PG&E will contact you for final inspection". Did not hear from Sunrun or PG&E until I had to again text Raul on December 1st. On January 3rd he finally answered and asked if he could call me around 1 and I said YES PLEASE. I never got a call. I sent a text on January 14 asking for a name and number of someone above Raul that could help me. He said that "The Utility providers and city have been a lot slower due to Covid to initiate the final inspection, we are waiting on them to approve a schedule date in which they would do the inspection to turn on system. In regards to the electrical upgrade it was approved as of yesterday and they will call you in the next 5 -7 business days to schedule the upgrade". I as not aware I needed an electrical upgrade but I was fine with the plan but it is now February 15th and I have not heard from anyone including Raul from Sunrun, PG&E, inspector or electrical upgrade person. I am hoping that we can get these panels turned on soon since it have been 5 months with 23 solar panels doing nothing. read more

we have had sunrun as a solar provider since 2017. since that time the panels did not produce the savings that we were promised. we were recently contacted by a representative from sunrun stating that they could add more panels to give the savings that were promised during this process we were told that our lease with sunrun would be absorbed into the cost of the new panels and that we would receive one bill from a finance company to pay for all of the panels. it took several months for the new panels to come on line. we are now paying aps electric for electricity not produced by the combined panels, sunrun for a lease for the first group of panels and a finance company for the purchase of the second set of panels. harrison wifley was the person who sold us the system and told us the two systems would be absorbed and combined which was a blatant lie. we are now spending more for electricity for our home than if we had stayed away from this crooked company read more

Sunrun: I wished I had ran, as far and as fast as possible, this company is by far the biggest bunch of crooks I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Lie after lie is what they should be named. No more Edison bills no more other billing other than the monthly bill from them. Lies all lies, I was sold a system large enough to cover ALL of my electrical needs (by their own calculations) A large Edison bill at the end of every year so far. One year over $700.00, yet another year over $$800.00. While also paying Sunrun an additional $500.00. I pay almost as much with them as I did without them. I now pay them monthly for the energy they say I produce as opposed to a monthly average. This month I was billed for over $800.00. This more than I would have to pay to Edison. I've had my system installed now for 10 days and I thought it was pretty cool. Based on the app I'm not generating any kw. I called Sunrun and they created a case. 4 days later still not creating anything. Someone is due to come out to my residence in 3 weeks. Come that time I would have been on solar for about a month. So I'm not only paying my local power company but Sun run as well. Horrible experience. Solar is great. Just don't do it with this company. Update: service was provided and so far things are running smooth. Customer service responded positively as I hoped they would and my views about Sunrun have changed. I have a lease program through Sunrun. The customer service is excellent, however be very careful when the program is being explained to you. I was told about their "guaranteed" output offer and I interpreted it incorrectly. What they are guarantying is that you will generate the promised amount in total (12 months), however on a monthly basis you will still end up owing money to your power company. Bottom line; their product and service is good, but the hidden details can cost you thousands of dollars if you are not careful. read more

My service was mistakenly cut off only 3 months after install. I was unaware and my auto payments continued for several months before I realized what was happening. When I contacted Sunrun they acknowledged I had an almost $800 credit on my account. My service to be reconnected immediately and the billing would quote eat up the credit over a period of months. So I did not make any payments for several months. After while I realize my service had never been reconnected and the credit still release when I called again assured me they would fix the problem my service was immediately turned on that day oh, I did not expect to receive a bill again for several months until the credit was depleted. The next thing I know I get a bill $142. More than my monthly regular bill check online on my account I saw that they took $900 in credits and applied them as payments a. My Wife and I choose Sunrun due to their affiliation with Coscto. I was initially skeptical due the negative reviews I read online however given the sales pitch, design presentation and overall reputation of the company - we decided to move forward. I have broken my review into three categories: 1. Installation The Team arrived on time and represented themselves in a professional demeanor. The team worked continually throughout the day with minimal down time and were very respectful of our lawn and landscaped areas in which they were working around. The Foreman was well versed in the products his team was installing and even shared with me some concerns he had with the design layout. Upon completion of their work, The Team cleaned up and made sure no debris was left behind. (I give the installation team a 5/5 star rating) 2. Production Our system was designed to produce roughly 11,500kwh - which equals 23 panels all on one side of my roof. A. 11,500kwh breaks down (with all things being equal) to 958kwh/month 1. We are producing on average 28kwh (average daily temperature in my area is 95 degrees with roughly 13 hours of sunlight) a. Based on this average (in June we produced 850kwh) we will produce during the Summer months 875kwh/month which equals 10,500kwh roughly 1000kwh less than what our system was designed produce. 2. System began producing May 9th and averaged 20.8kwh for a total of 438kwh for the month. If we produced for the entire month of May, the system would have generated 644.8kwh (if you take the average x 31 days. It is important to note production is dependent upon direct sunlight and length of day). B. Concern - given that Summer provides optimal sunshine and longer days, it is hard for me to believe our system will generate close to 11,500kwh when you take into consideration what our current average is along with what we produced in May. C. On-line IM chat with Sunrun customer service outlined Our system should be producing 58kwh/day (there words not mine and I have transcripts on all interactions to support this claim). (I give production a 2/5 star rating for failing to meet production standards) 3. Customer Service/Resolution A. We have been in constant contact with Sunrun Customer Service and as of today, have not had any of our concerns brought to a resolution. 1. We have had multiple "shade surveys" completed and removed trees Sunrun outlined hampered production. However, after removal we have not seen an increase in production. B. During installation we were told: "if shade covers any of your panels, the entire row will stop producing" and "Im surprised the design called for all panels on one side given the lack of direct sunlight to this side of the house". 1. This information was relayed to Customer Support and included in the Foreman notes and yet still no willingness to address these issues. C. We have also been told we have to wait one (1) year to determine if the system is underproducing at which point Sunrun may make adjustments to the current design (however I am still paying the same amount of money for a system to produce a specific amount of Kwh). (As of now, I give Customer support 1/5 stars) Other areas to note: 1. Tax rebate - if you owe back taxes or have any pending tax issues, please note - your rebate will be used to pay off any of your tax debt. So if you owe $8,000 in taxes and your rebate is $6,000 you will not receive any of that money - it will go towards paying off your taxes. 2. If possible, get a power production guarantee in writing. 3. Be mindful of your electricity usage and any overage from what you are producing to what you are using from the grid. For example, if you produce 800kh for the month and use 300kwh from the grid - understand you will be required to pay that difference at whatever rate you agreed to at the time of sale. The above has been our experience and our hope is that Sunrun takes proactive steps to help address our concerns. read more

I've pondered on writing this review for some time now but feel it is important to share my experience with others who are considering Sunrun for solar installation. The sales representative that initially came out to discuss the solar installation process seemed very knowledgeable, explained every step in full detail. He evaluated our electrical usage and informed us that a 6.1 kW system would be sufficient to meet 100% of our energy consumption needs. We were new to this so we trusted what the sales rep, who is a direct representative of Sunrun, told us. After installation, I started noticing that our system was not producing the energy to meet out needs. I called Sunrun and since we had the system installed during the summer, the representative informed me that I should wait until the fall and spring, when I'd be able to bank the solar production during those months to help offset the summer months. The explanation did not seem right and It was at that point that I started researching solar system capacities and realized that ours was severely undersized. This design made it through several layers of Sunrun experts before being finalized and not one person realized that the system would not meet our energy demands. It was undersized by half. Yes, I suppose I could have researched all of this ahead of time to get an idea of what size system I would need but these guys are the experts so there was no reason for me to doubt what they were saying. I've contacted the sales rep, he admitted that the system was undersized and his resolution - purchase a second system to meet our additional energy consumption needs, sigh. Sunrun has no intention of fixing a problem they should have caught in the first place. Do not go with this company. Find another solar provider. read more

I have been a customer of Sunrun for two years now. At the end of each year I have owed Southern Ca. Electric a large amount for electricity used beyond what my solar covered. I have found that I am paying approximately $600.00 annually MORE than I was prior to having solar installed. Sunrun sold the panels to me based on the fact that I would be saving money, they are not willing to make any changes as my panels are producing what they originally quoted.....BEWARE! read more

He addressed our concerns so completely that we had total confidence in signing the contract with Sunrun. Victor, the head of the installation team, was fantastic. Everything was done completely and he left our house beautifully clean. He answered our questions and even made it possible for us to leave on time for a long awaited vacation. Well its finally over. We are officially solar! If we save $$ that is still left to be seen. When this solar project began I was full of excitement and optimism, as the project lingered on I began to become skeptical and hesitant of the project. SunRun passed my solar project to a new manager and he began to get the ball rolling once more. Once he got the project rolling again he passed it off to Connie Martin, and she picked up right where Shaun Evans left off. She kept me up to date with what was going on with the procedures and steps that had to be taken by PG & E and themselves to get my system operational. She stayed in contact either by phone or email and let me know what I could expect. I am happy with the way things have turned out (So far). We will see when I start receiving my bills, if this rating goes up or down. read more

A few months into service they turned the service off because "a part wasn't working correctly". They kept giving excuses as to why the service continued to be off. Saying the part was taking forever to get delivered or their technicians were busy. It's been three months now and still our service has not been turned back on and no one has contacted us regarding any update. Every time we call, which is weekly, we not only wait on hold for almost an hour or more every single time, we are then just given a run around or even placed back on hold because they themselves are searching for answers. This has by far been the most horrible experience ever. Their customer service is horrible and their service is even worse. The whole reason for getting solar is because the area we live in is high fire danger so our power often gets shut off. Since our service has been off it has gotten shut off three times and we are left helpless or using a generator because this company can't get their shit together. Not only that we are still paying the monthly service and lease fee to them as well as a pg&e utility bill since we are now running off power. DO NOT use this solar service they are horrible!! read more

I dragged my feet on getting solar and got quotes from several companies before installing mine with Sunrun. The process was easy and the installation was done quickly and professionally. Before I got the system my bills were about $255/month and now I pay $170/month to Sunrun and I get a $9 bill from SCE each month. The last two years the system has produced $300 more per year than I used. All in all I've saved around $3000 since I got the system. So far, so good! read more

Horrible everything! If I could give 0 stars that would be accurate. I got a roof leak due to the SunRun Solar panels (Lease). I contacted SunRun June 1st, 2020 and it is now August 18th and not a single repair for Interior or Exterior damages has been done or scheduled. I have since contacted the Field service construction manager Dan T. four times! My first follow up was a month after (7/8) after he said they would set up exterior repairs and send a check for interior repairs (originally 2-3 weeks to receive) at this point nothing had been scheduled nor check received. My next follow ups were 7/16, 8/3 and 8/12. It is now 8/18 and no repair is scheduled nor check has been received. I have yet to hear back from Dan Thurnhoffer since 8/13 when he said he would follow up with AP on the status of the interior repairs check and also stated the Branch would reach out to me "soon to lock down a date". So much for 2-3 weeks as stated back in June. read more

Visit me few times (unsolicited so he's pressing the sale) the past week, not entirely convinced that all these promises can possibly be met, not feeling to confident in the rep. So far either has me really uneasy ... you know the saying "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is"...so I yelped i noticed the reviews in the past 11 months are good n then all the bad reviews come after that one year mark when u see how much you really saved and how much Edison is going to ding you....thinking I'll stick with my gut on this one and stick to the known rather then the unknown....sounds like my my instinct might be right...by these posts...so thank you to those of you who have given us fair warning... seems I'll end up paying the same if not more in the long run with solar!! No thanks on that!! How have they not figured out how to use solar power at the Edison plant if it's so much cheaper n better for the environment...gives me pause... just saying... read more

I was contacted via my front door by a company called CUIC. They claimed to be subcontracted thru SoCal Edison to approach customers to help them save energy. A claim they began backing away from as soon as they made it. I asked if it was about solar they said no. I was clear that I had no interest in solar because my average usage is about $80 a month far below the base of $150 a month. An average of $80 a month it would take 20 yrs to save $1,600 on a solar lease. My phone rang I went to answer it and came back to find the rep had run my wife's social for a credit check. That same day I received an email from Sun Run stating that I qualify for solar. The next day I received an email stating that they had processed the credit check by mistake. Clearly they had broke a law or two. I don't due business with crooked companies like Sun Run. To Sun Run if you would like to take action against me please do. I saved the emails and I would love for you to explain them. read more

BEFORE YOU SIGN ON WITH SUNRUN, READ THIS. We got our solar panels a few years ago with Sunrun. All was okay UNTIL we needed a new roof. When I called to ask about having the panels removed and reinstalled, in the same location, I was shocked to find out they would charge me $170 per panel to do it! We have 31 panels. You do the math! After getting over the price of a reroof, now add on that amount!! I quickly contacted tons of other solar companies who could do it more reasonably, which is everyone by the way. NO ONE was as high as Sunrun. I was then told I would have to sign a contract with Sunrun negating my warranty and provide the contractor's # and copies of their insurance naming Sunrun in the contract. Then I would have to pay for their service person to come out and inspect the work upon completion. I was frustrated by all of this and tried to reach someone with authority to explain their policy. I was received with the utmost courtesy by all of the lower level employees who have clearly been trained to be helpful and polite, including the field service coordinator. He willingly emailed his higher ups to attempt to connect me with someone who had authority to help, but I received NO response. I tried everything I could, hoping for a resolution, but I ended up going with another company to do the removal, negated warranty and all, AND write this review. There are some solar companies that give the customer 1 COMPLIMENTARY removal and reinstall during the life of the contract. Wish I had thought to ask about reroofing at the beginning. read more

Possibly the worst company I've dealt with in my professional life! They installed a ground mount system in our house which we specified we want out of our sight(our house overlooks a hill where the panels are installed). The panels were installed 6 feet above the ground which was clearly visible from our kitchen. It turns out the installers were too lazy to dig a trench to hide the conduit back to our electrical panel. One of their installers smoked and left cigarette butts all over our property which I had to pick-up. The system took longer to install than promised because of the lackadaisical attitude from the people working on the job until one of their supervisors showed up. All of a sudden it was "all hands on deck" with hard hats and no smoking! They later had to return to reduce the height of the system, which they could have avoided if they installed it correctly to start with! We signed up with the "auto-pay"system(supposed to save us $5.00 per month) we never received the savings and unexpectedly the payment date was changed without our authorization. The final insult was when they"missed"an electronic payment 3 times!. We contacted the "customer service" department on every occasion(a total of 10+ times) and at no time was anyone able to explain how or why this happened. Not one contact with anyone in this company has been able to resolve any issue. You have to call numerous times and talk to various people with still no resolution. If you ask for a supervisor you are put on hold to see who lasts longer, you or them!I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE! read more

I would have done no stars if it was available. We were so very excited to get solar and we have had it a year now. We had explained that our area is prone to birds and that is the reason the front of our house has wire fencing as to make it so the birds can't make nests around our roof. We were told that upon installation they have something that they do for that and not to worry. Installation came and went and nothing was done for the birds. Since then my husband has sent many an email and called to no avail. My husband whom works and commutes every day is now stuck every other weekend cleaning the solar panels and attempting to get rid of the 30 some odd flock of birds that have started a community under our panels. We have spent a lot of money at home depot to try to remedy the situation ourselves, unfortunately that has not helped in the slightest. It would have been much nicer a experience had they done what was promised from the get go. My husband loses precious time with his family for what????!!!! read more

If there were and option for minus stars I would have used it. As mentioned by many...lies and more lies. After we were beaten down by SEVEN HOURS of high pressured sales....and being told to our faces..."How great will it be to know you'll never... EVER... have to pay more than 429.00 a month?". ..we began signing. Any questions about the contract were met with.."Oh it says that but that will never happen with this system" and "You'll never have to worry about that". Lies ..after lies..after LIES. Four years now...a whopping Sunrun bill at the end of the year..and an even bigger Edison year end bill. (1500.00 this year) Questions about why...if we produce Too Much with Sunrun..and we are CHARGED for it..why then do we STILL have to pay Edison, go unanswered or unexplained. Keeping very accurate records, it's very clear we are not saving a DIME and our home is tied to this debacle even if we try to sell it. Any buyer has to accept this mess or Buy the system outright. If they see our records..they would run and I wouldn't blame them. Sunrun and their lying salesman has caused us to live a financial nightmare. We are contacting an attorney to see if anything short of death can get us out if this. Save yourself from the heartache and financial strain from this terrible...terrible company! 8/10/2017 Nothing changes with Sunrun....bad then..bad now. Got a bill for 10.00... WE called to let them know that wasn't right. They replied if that's what the bill said..it must be right. We let them know...again..it's not right.. Only having that bill..we paid it. A month or so later then sent a bill for 1500.00 saying *our* meter wasn't working but *there's* was..(rolling eyes) and now we owe 1500.00 and Sunrun wanted it paid that month ..gave us all kinds of grief and phone calls saying pay up. We refused and made payment over three months. Seriously...I can't say enough how much grief we've had from this company. If you want solar...RUN....FROM... SUNRUN. LIES...LIES...LIES... read more

Do not use them Customer service sucks. I have only had solar for three weeks and can not get them to fix a problem with there system from the beginning.There sales Reps our misleading .If you have a lot of time to make phone call to them and get the run around use them if not stay away.Very unsatisfied. read more

I'm not sure that this particular office did my installation, but whichever office installs in Victorville, California is the one I'm referring to and this is the closest one. I was skeptical about getting into a 25 year contract for solar energy although I was convinced that solar was the way to go, so I opted in. The concept of offsetting my "high" electric bill with solar enery was a great idea but this turned out to be the wrong company. They have been a nightmare! As I was paying them instead of SCE in 2020, I found out in November that they had turned off my system in February. No warning, no notification, no email. I called them for 4 months trying to find out why and after an "audit" of my account they concluded that there was no reason and turned it back on March 29th, 2021! Meanwhile, I have accumulated a 1700.00 debt with SCE because they weren't receiving any solar input but I was paying Sunrun. Now they will not reimburse me or credit those payments to my SCE account. They have no integrity, no customer service and COSTCO should stop letting them advertise in their stores. Take it from me, try someone else, they couldn't be any worse than Sunrun. I signed up for a Sunrun Solar quote/evaluation at my local Costco. I met Paul Leon, who was extremely knowledgeable, and was super easy to work with! After doing my research, we decided Costco/Sunrun has the best to offer! The process was super easy, and Paul was the best representative a company could ask for!
