We purchased a home with a PPA and a lease. Unbeknownst to us there were 2 contracts. 35 panels for a 1660 sq ft home is so overkill. three weeks in to the home (in March) we received a text that we owed 256.00. We called for a paper bill to see how it could be that high with no A/C usage plus gone for about 5-6 days of the 21 day period. No explanation just we owe that. Then a tech calls to tell us that they are not hooked up with our WiFi. In other words, our usage was not being transmitted they were just charging us a wild fee!! They said they would send an email with our usage but have not received that yet either!! RUN do not walk if this company comes calling!! I will NOT recommend this company to anyone and will make sure everyone I know, knows their crooked dealing!!!! read more

Nothing the Sunrun Rep told us was true! They lied to get contract signed. He mislead us on every point. Husband 79 years old signed under false pretenses. Have been dealing with this company for 6 years! We have a PPA (means we don't own the equipment) . We were told by rep that they cover all damage and maintenance to equiptment (which makes sense since we don't own equiptment! We live on golf course and husband asked if golf balls were covered? Rep said YES! He LIED! We had some damage and cost was over 3,000.00. After months of back and forth they agreed to pay the damage this time but not in the future. I produced a text from Rep saying yes we discussed golf ball damage. He was careful in choosing his words and didn't admit he told husband they were covered. Husband would NOT sign a contract knowing it was our obligation to fix their equiptment! There has NOT BEEN ANYTHING POSITIVE WITH THIS COMPANY! Rep did not design adequate amount of panels to take care of our home as we asked because of medical conditions and needing the house cool. We produced letter from Doctor. Causing more panels to be added 1 year later because of high tru-up bill. Now 2 contracts with this company and still high tru-up bills! No benefit for us whatsoever! No savings as they told us! We're worse off today than 6 years ago! Can't sell house because no one wants to deal with Sunrun due to their lies and not taking care of customers. Once you sign, that's it! Nightmare begins! We have had a horrible experience with this company. We have spent our retirement upgrading windows, water heater, ducting etc. and still have a high tru-up yearly. I had existing Tesla solar on NEM 1. They convinced me that I would have no tru up. They were right.. I have a new monthly electric bill of 680 a month, plus their 350, plus my old solar bill of 125. $1,155 one month.. PAYMENT DUE MONTHLY!! my old truup was 5k a year. A high amount. But I'll take that over what I'm paying now.. my system went down 15 days after I got it going and blacked out for over a month and a half during peak production and usage season. I noticed it. If I didn't they would have let the outage go forever. I'd go 0 stars if I could. It appears to me that my old system and my new system don't work together at all. I lost so many KWh I can't keep count.. stay away. Cost me way more money than before I got it. And it's going to be impossible to sell my house at this rate. read more

This was a terrible experience. The technician over phone was doing his best to follow the script but I'm truly unsatisfied with the overall experience. He suggested that I check my own inverter and I explained that I'm not home and work away, and when I'm home I value my family time. He then said he wasn't able to move forward. That he'd check with a supervisor, then explained that I would have to pay for a service visit to determine if my inverter is not working. The system is degrading at a faster rate than promised and no one seems to care about this. I have a leased system and service was suppose to be included which it clearly isn't. I know my system is older, and we are using more energy however year after year the system underperforms. They give us a small pittance of a credit but doesn't dent the large true up I get. If they produces the power promised in the contract our tru up would be half! read more

My mom is elderly and is currently being held hostage but this company. She had to have her solar panels taken off to replace a leaking roof. She was told she only had 30 days to get the roof completed because they would be back at that time to put the panels back on. She completed her part in 11 days and it's been 3 months and the panels are still not back up and they are continuing to bill her as if she's using their energy!! She is on the phone daily for status updates and she keeps being lied to. Last time she was told they submitted a permit request to the city and that was pending, we called the city, they did not submit the request. They will not let her out of her contract but her true up bill is racking up and she's on a fixed income and cannot afford it. Do not use this company!! read more

We decided to do a Power Purchase Agreement with Sun Run and add to our already existing solar that is paid for. We talked to the Salesman Andrew the first week of Jan 2023 and decided to take a leap. We were quoted 3 days max for install and up to 6 weeks to be online with PG&E and making solar. Well, here it is October 6th 2023 and we are still not online making solar. Andrew barely responds to me now, it literally takes him days to a week. Had another person Luis, at Freedom Forever, (the installers) say he would make sure he followed this through to get the PTO submitted to PG&E and he would call me back Wednesday but here it is Friday and no response. Renee at Freedom Forever also said she would be there to help, but again she barely responded and only sent me another number to call after I already found Luis, that didn't follow through either. Every week they move my timeline to have the PTO completed out a week to 3 weeks. The PTO still hasn't been submitted and they finished the final inspection in mid August. The system itself might be ok if it ever gets turned on, but that was a nightmare also. 5 trips out for the inspector is what it took to get it right. They had to move my equipment because someone thought it was a good idea to put the inverter right near my gate so I couldn't open it all the way. Then they had to put a ground in and it looks like a 3rd grader could have done a cleaner job. Oh then to top it off, the brakers in the electrical box melted 3 different times. The last time my husband had to fix it himself. This has been the worst nightmare. We live where it is super hot in the summer and need this so we could be comfortable this year, but it will be winter before it is ever done, if I'm lucky. No one cares at all after you are having problems. They move on to the next sale and the next install. Find another company to go with. I wish I had. read more

I wished I could give a negative number because there is absolutely nothing good about Sunrun Solar. If you are considering solar then run the other way. Don't waste your time with this company. I'm surprised they are still in business. They have 2 accounts being charged to our home, even though we only have one system. For October one of our bills was $44 then for November it was $1,271. when we contacted the billing department their reply was that if the charge was on our account then we had to pay it. They also put a lien on your property so if you don't pay then they try to foreclose. This is truly a very crooked company. read more

This is the worst solar company!!! I got a $435 electric bill last month. Called sunrun and am told oh yea the panels are not producing what expected. Made a complaint. Worst experience ever! Bought a home with panels and system installed and told I only needed to sign a transfer of service agreement. A month after the close of escrow I called them to figure out how to pay the bill because the follow-up email with instructions never arrived. I found out the panels were never actually activated. None of the documents I signed during the purchase of the home are uploaded in my account, just the old paperwork from the previous owner. The previous owners started the process in May 2022. Now a new project manager was assigned who is completely useless. No response to emails, calls...nothing. This project manager files paperwork with the local utility company using the previous owner's information. Which is obviously rejected...no follow-up communication to me, nothing! They also oversized the system by over 5000 kWh so it's possible the local utility company won't even approve the system. So now I'm stuck with a bunch of crap on my roof for the next 25 years I may never be able to use. Plus I'm sure my monthly rate was determined by the oversize so I'll probably be paying more than I would if I was just using the local utility company...if the panels are even allowed to be activated. read more

Sunrun is trash. They engage in predatory business practices and will lie to you to try to make a sale. If they obtain your contact information, they will tell you it doesn't get shared beyond the salesperson for tracking purposes, but in a few days you will begin receiving incessant phone calls, emails, and regular mail from their company. They claim they need to enter your home to assess it for qualification for panels and other equipment placed on your roof and the exterior of your home. They do not honor follow up appointment requests and will show up whenever they want to even if it is an inconvenience to you. They will ask for your info as noted above but do not use it other than for commercial marketing and do not reciprocate any contact information, leaving you to wonder when they will drop by unannounced next with no way to contact them. They are a scam at worst and a misleading company employing underqualified salespeople at best. The salesperson actually admitted they didn't know anything about the solar business/industry and was relying upon a local news clip regarding PG&E lowering the reimbursement rates for excess solar energy produced as their selling point then began asking about political preferences as a "gotcha" and other personal information (Sunrun, you can reach out to me via Yelp, and I will identify this employee by name so you can document their deceit, their admitted lack of knowledge, and their unprofessionalism). Do not sign a contract unless you want up to 25 years (per their own website) of indentured servitude for energy you may or may not use at a rate higher than your actual kilowatt hour usage (per other consumer reviews). Do not open your door to Sunrun or any solar representatives. Reputable companies do not act as vultures going door-to-door to make sales. Don't even talk to them unless it's to run them off your property which will happen if they show up again. They act like they are nice and polite which is a sales tactic to trick you. Do not believe them, and always do your own independent research. Would rate zero stars if allowed. read more
