Called to schedule an annual maintenance with Econoair. I left a message to set up an appointment and was contacted within about an hour. I was able to get an appointment scheduled within the same week. They do provide a service window, but I requested a later time and they were able to accommodate me. The technician who came out was William, and he was very friendly, professional, and efficient. He answered all of my questions and completed the job in a reasonable amount of time. The pricing was fair and comparable to other companies in town. Overall, I had a very positive experience with Econoair. read more

Paid $168 to have my gas fireplace insert serviced so that it would be safe to use. Later on found out the gas pipe to the pilot light inside the fireplace was leaking. Exposed to the gas leak for months. Econo-Air offered to replace the part at my expense. I felt they should have found the leak when I paid to have it serviced before using it. Then I would not have been exposed to the gas leak. Incompetent very poor customer service. Not paying. Will go to electric with a reputable company read more

Our air went out on 105 degree day in Bakersfield and we called Econo Air. They said a technician would be out after 12 noon that day, which was awesome, but within just a few minutes we were called back and a technician was on the way to our house. Our A/C went out this last heat wave here in Bakersfield. I called Econo Air for help. They came out the same day and inspected the 23 yr old unit. Unfortunately the system needed replacement. Econo Air recommended three different units with quotes based on size and price. They were able to do a complete removal and install within a few days. After talking to the installers on installation day, who have been with the company for over twenty years, I felt confident we made an excellent choice on the size of unit and service team. Winter's right around the corner, cold weather gets here fast. Last week up at our cabin it got real cold it was time to light our 7 yr old Hearthstone free standing stove. My wife grabbed the remote to fire it up. We heard the 3 beeps and anxiously waited for the warming flame and waited and waited, It never came she tried a few more times. I pulled out the owners manual went through the trouble shooting check list. No luck I had the 2016 sales invoice from Econo Air purchased by our cabins previous owner. I had to call Econo Air. Id struck out trying to get it to light. I made the call and was greeted by a friendly voice I explained my problem and asked if they serviced the Alta Sierra Kern River Valley area and they did. I asked for the next available date it was in November I took it. The kind representative said the owner Gary Flanagan was in his office and would I like to talk to him about my problem. Sure why not, Gary picked up and listened to my issue with my stove. He had the original sales invoice pulled from his company files reviewed my model and features and we went through some of possibilities of it not lighting. Gary even called his most senior serviceman Jim out in the field and we spoke with him Gary spent at least 15-20 minutes with me. That kind of help is not what most consumers get anymore. My husband and I walked into Econo Air and the sales person was horrible. He wouldn't even come beyond the desk that he was sitting behind and made us feel so unwelcome. Econo Air Annual Heater/Fireplace Insert Service. Not more than 15 minutes ago Econo Air's service technician Adrian completed our annual heater/fireplace insert service. I have to say as always this service experience was exceptional.! Adrian arrived within 10 minutes of the projected (scheduled) time frame. Properly introduced himself, told how he was going to proceed and immediately began to complete the tasks he had laid out for us. He was very professional, polite and respectful. He completed his tasks with speed and quality. Less than 45 minutes and he had completed all his tasks in a very neat and knowledgeable manner. He met with myself and my wife and went over in great detail what tasks he had completed, if there were any issues to be addressed (none existed) prepared our invoice for the annual service, reviewed it with us to ensure we understood each charge, etc. Adrian then bid us a very heart felt goodbye, thanked us for our patience and saying he hoped in would see us in the spring the the summer service. They came out and discovered that the current, which was about 15 years old, and was not properly installed, causing condensate pan in ceiling to overflow. Neither fast nor professional. After a service, they couldn't put the fireplace insert back the way THEY installed it, and Paul (the owner) blamed us. Read on for details/timeline. Tue 12/1/20: Our five-year-old insert, installed by Econo Air, stopped working. The technician determined it was a gas valve and got the insert functional $640 later. However, he was unable to put the insert back together the way it was before he arrived. After trying several times, he exclaimed, "I'm a technician, not an installer!" There are now gaps where there were none before. Thu 12/3 1056 -- Spoke with Laura and explained the issue. She seemed sympathetic and said she would discuss the issue with the owner (Gary) and someone would return my call. Friday 12/4 1532; spoke with Laura, who said someone should have got back with me by now (she talked to Gary). She said Gary was out for the day but she would speak with him Saturday 12/5 Fri 12/11 1150 -- Spoke with Laura over phone. Said she reminded Gary on 12/5 to call. He was busy with a customer but said she would remind him and stand by with him while he made the call. Tue 12/15 1130 -- Finally spoke with Gary, who immediately blamed everyone but his technician. They said someone might get back with us by the end of the week, so we'll see. So I was talked into installing a gas insert to replace my wood burning fireplace. Econo Air installed it and I received a rebate. Thought everything was great. Apparently I paid for them to service my insert but never used it. They contacted me and told me about the service and I elected to have them send a guy since I paid for it. Seemed nice enough. Hugo came by the house today for service (super nice guy) and while he was servicing my insert he advised the reflective glass in the back was cracked. I spoke with Gary (owner) who told me he didn't understand how it broke and it would cost me $400 or more to have it replaced. I asked if he could replace it without charge since it was of no fault of mine that the feature broke. He tried to convince me to leave it as is and it wouldn't pose any problems just the bother of knowing there is a crack. Unbelievable there was zero effort to make it right. If the problem is so rare then show good customer service and repair it. He then tried to imply I broke it and that it may have happened because I never got it serviced. I told him I never used it after I noticed how high my gas bill went up after my first winter with it. Very disappointed and wish I never did business with this place. read more

On 05/02/2017 I called Enoco Air to schedule my bi-annual service. I was told they would be here on 05/23/2017 between the hours of 8:00am and 12:00. 12 o'clock rounds around and nobody has shown and I have not been contacted by them. I give the service department a call to find out what was going on. I am told the service person is running behind and he has two more stops before he will be able to get to my house. I don't get sorry for the inconvenience, I just get would you like to re-schedule. I have a system that needs to have the filter changed out only once per year. This time I decided to change out the filter myself, before my service. When I changed out the filter I notice that all the filter pleat spacers were broke, this will be an unexpected cost. I don't know about other people but taking time off from work cost money. Looking for another company that might have a better attitude towards their customers. read more

Thank You Felipe S. I live in Central Bakersfield, in an older home, and our air conditioner started blowing warm air in the middle of the night. We have three children, one young daughter who does not do well when she is overheated. I called various providers and no one could get me an appointment for days. Then I remembers our daycare provider telling me that Econo Air had installed her new unit and how highly she spoke of them. I called Econo Air, and I have to admit, they were not the cheapest, but they were informative, honest and were willing to send someone out same day. I called into work and the waiting began. Surprisingly, Felipe showed up less than 30 minutes after my call. I saw his white van driving by and ran outside to make sure he knew he had the right house. Usually, I am really uncomfortable when repair men come to the house and my husband isn't home but Felipe was beyond professional and was did his job quickly, proficiently and for a fair price. The diagnostic was $89.00, service/cleaning fee $117.00 and the repairs (with parts) was $194.47. WE NOW HAVE WORKING AC!!! Our total was approximately 400; however, the peace of mind knowing my children can sleep at home (comfortably) is priceless. If you were going to use Econo-Air, please do not use the son of the owner Greg Flanagan his name is Greg. He is very slow to respond to phone calls if he does ever many calls and he says I'll get right back to you with the answer which he does not. We purchased a fireplace insert back in November 2022 and from the date of the initial installation it took them over a month and many phone calls to get it right which it is not complete yet last week I made several phone calls and each time I was told I'll call you back with an answer before noon Lol noon has come and gone on many days and I still have no answers so I'm assuming the warranty on these this fireplace insert is fake. The fan makes squalling noises. The facia also vibrates and makes noises so I guess the next thing I do is get hold of the Better Business Bureau and go after money that I spent on this fireplace insert. This Mendota insert is very nice looking. If Econo-Air would return my calls and set up one of their troubleshooters to come out and fix my fireplace I might even give them a higher rating but currently don't use them. read more

Dont Be fooled By the name Econo-air. They ran water thru the fins on my a/c unit, didnt oil anymotors and they needed it by the way, and basically did nothing for the same price as every other rip off a/c company in bako has done to me till I learned A/c and now I would hire one of these companies unless i watched a servicing video on You tube first. Thats my recommendation. Also I went to econo air and spoke with the guy on the commercials and told him he was selling the same things they sell at Lowes but his prices were nearly double. When it came time to replace our 30-year-old HVAC system we went to the Home & Garden Show at the Fairgrounds to speak with the numerous HVAC companies there. Our primary goal was finding an established company with a good product line that would be around to stand by their product. As expected, every company we spoke to emphasized why their product line was better than the competition. Fortunately, we had done a lot of research online beforehand and were familiar with the current technology when we spoke with them. Our research revealed that we were limited to a 16 SEER unit since we have a dual pack on the roof vs a 20+ SEER for a split system in the attic and condenser outside. Also, that a variable speed fan was a must and a dual stage compressor was a cost-effective energy savings option. Apparently, multi stage compressors are not common on dual packs yet. Another option we choose that has proven very useful is the smart thermostat that we can remotely access. We use it to turn the system on a couple of hours before we get home when we travel. Also, we were interested in possibly zoning our house and whether or not we should replace the existing ducting. Both options would have added significant costs to the system. Ultimately, it was determined that it did not make sense to do zoning but it was necessary to replace the existing ducting and Gary offered to upgrade from R-6 to R-8 which is more common in commercial installations and to replace the registers which was well worth the money. Also, during the design process Gary checked the existing airflow in each room to determine if there were any heating and/or cooling issues. He identified that the master suite needed an additional supply and a return since we close the door at night which severely restricts the air flow back to the unit. Ultimately, we obtained price quotes from three different HVAC companies, including EconoAir. The companies we chose to obtain quotes from represented good product lines so it came down to installation and service. All three companies presented good options but in the end we chose EconoAir because of our previous experience with them and the fact that they carry the American Standard product line. The installation of the unit took three days and was coordinated with the BSW who was reinsulating the attic and installing a new roof at the same time. The EconoAir crew was very efficient and professional and put down tarps to avoid tracking in dirt from the attic into the house. The initial installation had too much air coming from one supply and not enough from the other in the master bedroom. But they worked diligently to make sure the whole system was balanced. The new system produces at least twice as much airflow as the old system but only runs at a rate necessary to reach the desired temperature. Sometimes I cannot even hear it running even though I can feel the airflow. Something I did not expect was the post installation duct testing by an independent contractor. After the system was installed another company came out to test the ducting to make sure it was installed properly and the new system passed without issue. In summary, we highly recommend EconoAir for both fireplace inserts and HVAC systems. read more

I had repair work on my A/C in August of 2014. The A/C has been on less than 30 days through the winter and at the first hot weather in March, the A/C once again is not working. Econo Air will not stand behind their work and tied all service to coming out and doing an 'annual service'. I have seen this same narrative in other reviews on this same site. They do not stand behind their own work. So now that I posted a bad review, I have been stalker called and yelled at by their manager. Buyer beware. This is a lose-lose company. My family has used Econo Air for years. Preparing to move to another home and AC units were not working so called for help. Next available appt was 3 weeks away but agreed to take it. Tech arrived in a timely manner (which is the reason I gave 2 stars). He walked in circles around both units. He seemed completely unfamiliar w them and he did not appear to know what to do. He simply announced that these were from the 1980's and needed complete replacement at a cost of 8k$ per unit! Would have had zero confidence w him installing new unit(s). Called another company and owner came the next day, immed took apart each unit w obvious skill, and within 10 min stated what the issue was for each. The next day he repaired both units for 600$. They called the very next day and told me it was there for pick up I drove all the way from Exeter to get the part Now my a/c is up and running .
