This was kind of a hidden gem. We just happened to be very hungry while travelling from San Juan to Ponce and this wasn't too far off of our route and had great reviews. The location was right on the water so the views were nice. The menu had a wide range of items to order from, you can have the low cost arepas/epandadillas for $3.50-8 each or there are more expensive salad/entree options from $25-50. We went the cheaper option. These arepas had their own twist, not like the Mexican arepas I had seen before. Different but still delicious. We ordered a 2nd round because we liked them so much. The bathroom stalls had low walls, so tall people could easily see over them but other than that they were clean and well kept. If I lived here, this would probably be my regular hang out with friends, it's chill and has a great vibe. read more

The view is awesome, and the staff is nice; But the wait time is too long, I've been there for several occasions with family from out of town but when you wait 2hrs for appetizers, it's just ridiculous. Awful service!!! We arrived at 4 PM on a Sunday and waited about an hour for a table. We ordered from the outside bar which took 30 minutes to get our drinks while we waited for our table. Once we finally sat at our table, there was ambiance as they had live music. The music progressively became very loud and the place became more of a night club. We ordered our food at 5:50 PM and around 7:50 PM we still did not have our food. Our waiter was nowhere to be found for close to an hour and a half. We had to find other waiters to help us get our food. Some plates of food did not arrive until 8:20 PM. Totally unacceptable. The taste of the food was nothing to rave about. This was an amazing find. It was exactly what we wanted to get lunch and break the drive up from the Vieques ferry to Rincon. We specifically wanted a beach-front meal and that is what you get. It is casual - the townie local hangout and casual bar with restaurant. Very beachy surfer vibe. The island out in the water in front has a pirate flag - which was a nice touch. I read a bunch of whiney cry baby reviews here about slow service. If you want fast service then go to McDonalds. If you want local service with local people and local food and an authentic PR experience then come here. Our service was great - we came at 2pm and it wasn't busy and our service was nice and polite and helpful, and the food came fast. We had the chicken empanadas, and shrimp arepas, and the mofongo with shrimp and mofongo with vegetables, and then we had fried yuca. Our goal was all local PR meals and that was what we got and they all tasted great, and add in the amazing view and beach-front dining and this is a real gem of a place. I've been here a couple of times and it just seems like they keep getting worst each time. Usually, I opt for seating in the bar area since it has a nice view and service tends to be faster, boy was I wrong about that the last time I went. My server took ages to take my order, my drinks (cocktails) were either too strong or straight-up juice. Not to mention the cold food, I let them know the food was cold and to put it short they were like "Pues mala tuya, eso es lo que hay" They obviously did not say that, but the body language and gestures implied it. We got to Sunset Restaurant by mistake and it was the best mistake. The seafood is fresh and a lot of variety. The drinks are great especially the passion fruit mojito (fresh passion fruit) made with the best rum. (Don Q). Live music with a great singer. The view espectacular with the beach in front plus a pier. Not only that they rent kayaks. Bad quality food. On August 17, around 6:30 pm, I arrived at the sunset bar and grill restaurant where I have already been told that it is good to eat with a view of the sea that is beautiful. At the entrance they attended me and quickly accommodated me. Waiting for the waitress, I am surprised that there is no menu and there only blackboards with the menu wrote on it, and the waitress is holding it, which is uncomfortable because you feel a rush to order. I started with a lobster turnover, and asked if it was fresh and she answered yes. For the main couse I ordered the shrimp salad and my girlfriend ordered mofongo stuffed with chicken. While waiting, everything looked good people having good time and the view was awesome. The waitress brings me the lobster turnover and it was very good, I had not eaten one for a while and the lobster as she said was very fresh and exquisite. When they bring me the food the presentation of the salad with shrimp looked very good along with the tostones I ordered, and the dish that my girlfriend ordered. I start eating the salad without the shrimo because I always like to eat them last, but I thought "let me try one to start", and the first one that I ate was strange as if it was still in the freezer. I thought to my self that this shrimp are not fresh and it seems that they have been stored in the freezer for months. At the end I could not eat it all because of that flavor of fridge. Besides that, my girlfriend tells me that the chicken has a weird taste, I tried it and the chicken tastes disgusting, it seemed that nobody asked for the chicken and they took the one that had been in the fridge for a year. Just as it tasted bad, it smelled super bad, the mofongo was not the best one, so I would have gone to the Chinese in the corner and asked for an order and it came out better with cheaper prices. Because of the experience and the price was not the best, it seems that when the waitress told what happened, she did not mind telling the "chef" if he considered him a chef. We had to pay everything for mediocre food, that we didn't even finish. With that been said, I would not recommend to eat here. I could recommend to eat the turnovers and have a beer while enjoying the view, but the food, not at all. read more
