I've been called/texted and sent emails with updates, after care etc etc. I knew Theodore was in good hands. After a terrible experience at another vet I was left traumatized; but Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital had me feeling 100% at ease and comfortable that Theodore was in good hands. From the first visit where they listened, helped us and went over each procedure/charge in detail...to me picking him up after his surgeries, I was so impressed by the professionalism and care they showed us. Vet bills are already expensive (AF) but I'd pay twice as much as I did for the services I received. Theodore will forever receive his care here with Dr. Lair. Complaint against Dr. Christy Silvaberg, Sunset Cliffs Animal My 5-year-old AKC English Bulldog Rocky, a fully registered service dog and the center of my life, died a slow, painful, preventable death on Saturday, August 23, 2025, due to Dr. Christy Silvaberg's negligence, misdiagnosis, improper treatment, and subsequent obstruction, of my atttempt to get her malpractice insurance (if she has insurance), her doctor notes, and my attempt to have a necropsy done. She refused to speak to me after her actions caused the death of my dog. Instead she had her staff attempt to bully me. If you think she is nice, it is because she is getting money from you. If she kills your dog, you will see a completely different side to her, they attempted to bully me, threatened me (for them killing my dog) and blocked every possible way for me to sue. June 28, 2025: I brought Rocky specifically for suspected systemic fungal infection. I showed visible fungus and hair loss. Dr. Silvaberg ridiculed my concerns, refused all testing (bloodwork, urine, skin scrape), and dismissed me condescendingly. She prescribed only anti-allergy meds, ear drops, and eye gel, claiming expertise as San Diego's only "bulldog specialist." My fungal concerns were not properly documented or shared later. August 12, 2025: Rocky developed submandibular swelling. Dr. Silvaberg refused to see him due to vacation. Found another hospital that could see him that day. Sunset Cliffs sent only the prior dry-eye test and omitted the June 28 fungal suspicion. New Temp Dr. aspirated the node, ran bloodwork (Aug 16 results showed abnormalities but no bacterial infection), and prescribed antibiotics.August 18, 2025: Swelling worsened. August 18th temp hospital sedated Rocky and aspirated 6 more lymph nodes (lymphoma testing negative). I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Silvaberg for August 21. August 21, 2025: I brought blood panels and biopsy results. !!! - Without reviewing any records or tests, Dr. Silvaberg examined Rocky, aggressively declared he had cancer (face inches from mine, raised voice, slapped papers), and insisted he would die. !!!! MALPRACTICE. She prescribed 40mg prednisone, warning that stopping it would kill him. She ignored my fungal concerns and the test results. Rocky declined rapidly with labored breathing and distress. He died Saturday evening, August 23. Biopsy results received DONE BY OTHER HOSPITAL ~August 25 showed no cancer; the lab identified fungal infection as most likely -- exactly what I had reported on June 28. The steroids suppressed his immune system, enabling rapid fungal spread and respiratory failure. Post-Death Obstruction: Dr. Silvaberg refused to speak with me after his death. Staff sent inaccurate emails blaming me and claiming cancer. Repeated requests for doctor notes were refused or met with altered summaries (67 pages on Sept 4 reduced to 64 pages on Sept 14). Insurance information for a malpractice claim was repeatedly refused. I arranged a necropsy (~$600 + transport) through San Diego Humane Society, who held the body refrigerated. All costs were prepaid by me. The lab required only the treating vet's signature (no body handling by the clinic). I offered an extra $300 office fee. Dr. Silvaberg refused to cooperate. A staffer called hostilely: "Dr. Silvaberg is not going to have any part in any necropsy." SUNSET CLIFFS ANIMAL HOSPITAL REFUSED MULTIPLE REQUESTS TO PROVIDE ANY INSURANCE INFORMATION, WHICH I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD BE REQUIRED BY LAW TO CARRY. Key Failures:Refused fungal testing on June 28 despite clear presentation. Inadequate transfer of records to subsequent vet. Diagnosed cancer without any supporting tests. Prescribed contraindicated steroids for a likely fungal infection. Altered records, blocked necropsy, withheld notes and insurance information. These actions prevented proper diagnosis and treatment of a treatable condition, destroyed the ability to confirm cause of death, and directly caused Rocky's suffering and death. Rocky was otherwise healthy. I had spent thousands on his care and would have approved any recommended testing. I am 62 and disabled. Rocky was my licensed service dog. I have emails, records, Humane Society documentation, and possible recordings to support this complaint. Additional Concern for Investigation: Dr. Silvaberg promotes BOAS surgeries heavily. Google reviews show patterns of similar negligence, bullying, and poor outcomes.I request a full investigation, including medical record audit, insurance verification, and review of her practice. Dr. Christy Silvaberg advertises herself as a bulldog expert. She then convinces people their dogs all need a surgery to remove the roof of their mouth because they snore. I think she should be investigated as to how many of these she does because she did it to me early on when I trusted her, nothing changed, and I feel like that is a possible grift, just think, 100 new BOAS surgeries a year would equal $400k for her. read more

We have been taking our CAVALIER KING CHARLES here for HIS ENTIRE LIFE, 14 Years!!! Unfortunately, his Kidneys gave out at the end of his 13th Year/14th Year!!! We were given medication and that seemed to turn things around, but that lasted only 6 Days. On the next to last day of his life, the VET SAID, he may have a few weeks left, BUT THAT NIGHT HE COLLAPSED ON THE LAWN WHILE WALKING ON THE LAWN. He never walked again. We took him in first thing at 7:00 AM, only to find out on the way DOCTORS aren't there till 9:00 AM. Although Dr Silverberg wasn't free till 3:00 PM, she showed up at our 9:20 AM APPOINTMENT. I walked in, and my partner and my dog stayed in the car. A very nice technician walked out to greet me, AND EXPLAIN WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!!! I then started to walk out to get them. SHE VOLUNTEERED TO HELP. As it turned out, my partner did the heavy lifting. WE WENT RIGHT IN, skipping the scales. We then saw DR SILVERBERG, WHO EXAMINED BALTHAZAR. It was time. Again, we ment with the technician for a breakdown in prices. WE ORDERED EVERYTHING, INCLUDING CREMATION AND DELIVERY. Dr. Silvaberg and her staff were absolutely amazing. My baby girl Daisy (almost 6 years old), a French Bulldog, had a really difficult experience over the past 7 weeks with her previous vet. She became very traumatized and now hates going to the vet. In most cases she has had to be sedated just to be examined. However, Dr. Silvaberg walked into the room, got down on the floor with my terrified girl, and calmly talked to her until she gained her trust. To my absolute surprise, she was able to examine and treat Daisy without any sedation at all. This was a huge win for us. I'm so incredibly thankful that we finally found a vet who truly listened to me and treated my girl as if she were her own. That's all I've ever wanted. Brought my senior bulldog here from a friends recommendation to see Dr.Silvaberg. My bulldog, like any other bully breed suffered from really bad allergies this season. Before coming to sunset cliffs the vet I was seeing recommended I give Chloe medicated baths every other week when that wasn't helping it became once a week then every other day which is just unfeasible. They then recommended I go to a dermatologist- I ended up with a visit to Dr silvaberg instead, I'm so glad we did. Dr. Silvaberg is a bulldog owner her self making her so knowledgeable of the breed, she explained that Chlo had really bad yeast over growth and needed oral antifungal medication to combat it. A little over a month of being on the oral med and not only is her hair growing back in but Chloe's energy has also returned. We had gone to Sunset Cliffs years for our cats and always had great care from Dr. Silvaberg. But last year, we went to a vet at a big pet store because we were able to get a same day appointment. Big mistake:we ended up having to rush our cat to the ER because of incorrect advice about the pressure bandage. So we returned to Dr. Silvaberg. Both she and the vet tech were so great with our 15-year-old cat - which is not always the case at every vet office. She did a thorough exam and ordered a senior panel and a cardiac test. She was also able to painlessly pop off some large pieces of tartar from her teeth during the exam, which was huge. (We were reluctant to put our senior cat under for a cleaning.) I will say the front office staff seemed more stretched than in the past. Honestly, though, that's pretty typical at almost everywhere post-pandemic, especially in the health care (human or animal) setting. read more

AWFUL!! my English bulldog puppy was seen for cherry eye surgery here I was initially recommended to go here because I was informed it was a great place to take bulldogs as the vet is a bulldog lover and owner herself after feeling really comfortable about the talk prior to the surgery, my dog went in for his cherry eye surgery and came out with some nasty wounds, assuming that it was just the aftermath and it would heal as normal, my English bulldogs, cherry eye $2000 later, looked the exact same and messed up his eyes to have surgery in the future. The worst part ? The vets were extremely unhelpful and disrespectful in regards to my response... after emailing them for another check up because of his unhealed eyes they responded with and I quote " there is nothing we can do. We have already told you that he will look like this." " you are welcome to come back in for a check up, but as we told you, there is nothing we can do." The way they responded to the situation was not only disheartening as it is very obvious they do not care about the pet itself but also in the fact that they totally messed up the surgery and I have had multiple vets. Dr. Silverberg killed my dog and then brushed it off like nothing. Swollen lymph nodes, no cancer, no bacteria, Dr Silverberg diagnosed lymphoma, with no test results, prescribed prednisone, told me to "say goodbye". Very flippant. Once her gravy train was over with that dog.She didn't care at all, and I saw another part of her personality. Condescending, rude, flippant. Expensive and much loved dog died two days later from prednisone overdose. Most recent appointment was for fungal infection. Which she refused to test for a fungal infection in the week's prior to my dog's Li mean literally this woman is negligent.This is malpractice, this is literal malpractice, but she's covering up to make it so nobody could so nobody knows how the dog really died If you give prednisone to a dog with a systemic fungal infection , it will stop their immune system and the fungal infection will kill them in the exact precise manner described with the artificial intelligence. The artificial intelligence stated the number one most likely cause of rocky's death was the prednazone overdose with a fungal infection, which she had refused to eventreat six weeks prior. Not only did the "Doctor" have a really horrible attitude of "get lost" after several years of me giving her quite a bit of money, but then when I coordinated to have a necropsy with tissue samples taken by a company that does that and I coordinated to have transportation and all she would have had to do was have the person. Do sign paperwork with me paying in advance, because the company that doesn't only works with vets. They absolutely refused to do some minor paperwork so that we might come to 100% provable conclusion about how the dog died. That's called the CYA, "Cover your own Ars" Dr. Silverberg killed my dog out of pure negligence. Worst bed side treatment, the most condescending, rude manner and then covered her own a** by refusing to even have some paperwork signed off. Because those companies have to have a vet, not submit the sample.But just sign and then have the results go to them.But of course, that might show her negligence.So of course , she's not going to do that. I've been taking my dog to Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital since early 2024, and while my experience started off smoothly, it has completely deteriorated due to their poor communication, rigid policies, and lack of compassion. I want to be clear--I have pet insurance, I prioritize my dog's health, and I handle situations professionally and level-headedly. I am not someone who avoids necessary vet visits or argues about costs for no reason. But this clinic's unreasonable policies and lack of support made it impossible to trust them with my dog's care. At first, things went well--I even had a dental cleaning and mass removal done without issue. But after that, red flags started appearing. First, they failed to disclose that they don't accept CareCredit until after my pet's procedure, leaving me scrambling at checkout. Then came the excessive charges--I received a notice that my dog needed a booster vaccine, and they charged me a full exam fee for a 10-minute visit without warning. I took responsibility for not asking beforehand, so the next time I made sure to call ahead. After debating with the front desk for 10 minutes, they finally told me I could walk in instead of making an appointment to avoid the charge. Then came a critical issue: My dog was diagnosed with diabetes in January. Shortly after, I discovered a Vetsulin shortage on the West Coast. I was ahead of the problem and found the medication on Chewy, but SCAH has a policy against calling in or approving online prescriptions. I respected their policy and asked for a written prescription--only to be told I had to wait 48 hours to get it. When I finally mailed it in, Chewy told me they could accept the prescription over the phone--but SCAH refused to make the call, saying they "don't work with Chewy" even though there were no legal reasons preventing them from doing so. I was left scrambling. As my dog's insulin ran out, I pleaded for help. Their response? "Call Costco." But Costco was the reason I was in this situation to begin with. Their only other advice? Wait until my dog became lethargic and bring her in then. Essentially, let my dog go into a diabetic coma before they would act. To make matters worse, they repeatedly failed to follow up on critical lab results. After running tests for both a UTI and her diabetes-related bloodwork, they never called me back--I had to follow up multiple times, waiting nearly two weeks for answers. Finally, I spoke with the Business Manager, hoping to professionally and calmly voice my concerns. Her response? 1. Their staff "doesn't have the luxury of time" to help beyond the basics. 2. They did "help" by calling other hospitals--except none of those hospitals had the medication. 3. They couldn't call Chewy because if they did it for me, they'd have to do it for everyone. I asked point-blank: "So you wouldn't even make an exception if my dog was going to die?" Her answer: "No." At that point, I knew I had to find another vet. I calmly told the business manager that I thought it was best to move forward with my pet's care elsewhere then - two hours later they sent me an email stating they were "discontinuing services with me"--as if they needed to have the last word. It felt petty and unprofessional. Leaving a Vet when your dog is in the middle of a health crisis is the last thing I wanted to do, but I gave SCAH plenty of opportunities to close any gaps. I genuinely thought these were just missteps falling through the cracks rather than an intentional lack of care. But after months of repeated issues, it's clear that better care is available elsewhere for both patients and pet parents alike. She endured extreme stress during each visit, which led to a broken tooth while in their care--a painful, preventable injury that now requires an extraction. After multiple stressful visits with no updates, I went to a second vet, who found an infection in her surgery wound and dying skin tissue that Sunset Cliffs never mentioned. They failed to refill her antibiotics, leaving me unaware of her true condition. The staff consistently failed to communicate, mismanaged her care, and were not forthcoming about the severity of her condition--both with her surgical site and the broken tooth sustained during a visit. Each of these injuries was preventable if the team had paid more attention and handled her with proper care. When I called to address my concerns, the manager informed me that the owner was out of town, and I'd need to wait for her return to see if they'd take responsibility for the harm caused under her staff's care. At this point, I assume I won't receive an apology or any follow-up from the owner. This place lacks the basics of animal care and compassion. Do yourself and your pet a favor--choose a different vet. UPDATE 11/13/24: Due to Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital's negligence, my dogs condition became far more severe than it should have. The lack of attention and oversight led to a serious infection that eventually spread through her tail. This could have been prevented with proper care. As a result, my dog had to undergo a full tail amputation. Additionally, the tooth she broke while in their care, which Sunset Cliffs dismissed as minor, ultimately required extraction due to exposed pulp and potential complications. Their mishandling of her recovery not only caused unnecessary pain but also led to irreversible outcomes. Took our pup here because the bulldog specialist. Trying to get our boy on a routine medication that worked rather than cytopoint injection when symptoms are overwhelming. Was told by VET Dr Kristy during our second physical about 6month into treatment we would not be charged for exams just the meds. In December our pup was due for an exam to refill meds, we received emails, was told by staff when calling to refill meds, and calls requesting to schedule an appointment with sunsetcliffs animal hospital so our pup would have a refill before running out. After that appointment I was charged 500$ for a variety of things. None of which were the medication refills they begged us to come see the doctor to refill. One charge being a 75$ for the exam. When I called to speak with dr Kristy she would not come to the phone. Sarah was unprofessional not willing to listen to me when explaining what the purpose of the visit was. Sarah denied my pups medications after paying for the exam and blood work to obtain them. I do not recommend this place. Sarah said my bill would be sent to collections as I asked why I paid for this services if you are denying the medications for a sick pup. Customer service not existent. Dr Christy is the most caring, loving individual when it comes to your pet's well being and long-term care regimen, and she has the experience and foresight to keep tests and other therapies to what's necessary rather than automatically ordering a battery of tests like you see at some other practices. All of my pets have led long, comfortable lives due in part to Dr Christy's diligence and experience, and I am forever grateful that she's available. If they cannot see your animal right away they will listen to the symptoms and provide you options and contact numbers. We're always in and out and have never had to wait for our appointment. We added a English Bulldog to our family about 5 months ago. When we got him, Sunset cliffs animal hospital came highly recommended. We took our new doggie (Sergeant) and right away their entire staff treated us like family. Dr. Berg was very thoughtful and thorough when treating him and we soon found out he had Mega "E", or Mega Esophagus and was having trouble keeping food down. Sunset Cliffs explained in great detail how this can lead to so many other issues. Not to worry though, they have been phenomenal in treating our Sargey, and because of their expertise, he has gotten stronger each day and is on a road to almost a full recovery. I can't remember the last time I wrote a review, but I have to leave a review of my experience with Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital. I have been using Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital for my two dogs since moving to Ocean Beach a couple years ago. They have always provided exceptional service to both me and my dogs, but one experience in particular just has to be called out. I had to put our 12 year old Golden Retriever down in December of 2019, as he was losing a hard fought battle with cancer. Dr. Webb was so amazing in her care for Harley, and was so present and empathetic with our family. We were really all blown away by her compassion to us n our loss. She is a truly remarkable human being, and we want her to know that she touched our lives in a profound way!! Her care for us didn't stop when we walked out the door that day, but she followed it up by sending a personal note to our family days after the visit. We were completely stunned when we went to the mail today and opened a letter from the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC, Davis informing us that Dr. Webb had made a donation to The Companion Animal Memorial fund in Memory of Harley. Trust, Care, Support. These are the words and feelings that come whenever I interact with any of the staff and doctors here! I have a constantly problematic older Frenchie that from time to time requires vet interaction. Dr. Berg has never ever once made me feel like she or the clinic was ever trying to run tests or procedures for the sake of billing me for it. Dr. Berg has gone above and beyond, every time, to make sure she fully interacts with my little one and inspects him to the fullest. She provides clear analysis of what she thinks could be an issue and offers many ways to solve it. She has never once recommended anything that seemed out of the ordinary and I can't same the same for many vets. Been a client Here for almost 20 years, now that my dog is really old and near death, I come to find out from a animal dental specialist that the teeth cleaning done to my dog here was not done correctly or completely, this causes heart diseases. Every contact with these people is is all about how much money they can get out of me and not so much about my dogs health... Very sad, they are still trying to pay off their expensive building apparently. read more

Just left the office and I am disgusted to have a second encounter with Dr. Burge (Burke?). The first time I brought our guinea pig in as an emergency after an accident, to which she shamed me and essentially told me I did everything wrong... I was at the vet paying for healthcare for a Guinea pig- so, she was wrong but whatever. I let it go, she was pregnant so I thought she was just having a rough day. Today I bring my dog in, who has behavioral problems, to which I work endlessly and have dedicated my time, money and love to- and she walks in and tells me how this dog should not be a pet. I rescued this dog, whom would have been a euthanasia dream due to the lifelong training he will need. So if you have a pet that has an accident prepare to be blamed. If you have a pet with behavioral or stereotypical issues, be warned. Dr. Webb is no longer working there and she was the only reason we continued there for so many years- never again. I'm disgusted and hurt. I rescue dogs that need homes no matter how much work, to be told I'm in the wrong for opening my home to a working dog is ridiculous. She never once asked if he was in training or what we did with him to stimulate his mental and physical abilities. She talks to people like they are assholes- she is the asshole. read more

I have finally found a VET where they can give injections to my Frenchie, Blue! I love this place because they are straight forward and they do not charge you for unnecessary things. They give your pup only what is needed. I had to leave my old VET because they basically refused to give Blue his shots and cytopoint because he was too aggressive. They made me feel like a horrible pet owner and told me to get a behavioral specialist. When I came to Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital, Dr. Berg got on the floor and played with Blue to make him comfortable. Now this is what I call a good and honest doctor. I appreciate her so much. She did not make me feel like a bad owner. When I expressed to her how my last VET would struggle to give Blue his shots, she said it should not even be an issue because these shots are just a quick prick. They took Blue to the back and I already knew he would be nervous and fiesty. After they administered the cytopoint, I could hear the whole staff shout, "YAY BLUE!!!!" It literally almost made me cry. When the VET tech came back out, I asked if Blue bit anyone and she said he did so well and was not an issue. This was my first experience at Sunset Cliffs. My second visit to get his cytopoint was the same. They have NO trouble giving him his shot. Now, if they are able to clip his nails.... THIS WILL BE THE BEST VET EVER! Switching VETs has been a game changer, and I know Dr. Berg and the staff will always be able to get things done. I am so happy for my dog that he gets to see a Doctor who understands him and staff who is able to give him the right care. Thank you Dr. Berg and staff! Ya'll are awesome! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. This veterinarian runs a rescue. They adopted out a dog, and took the adoption fee and the next day the dog was peeing blood. Their extremely rude office staff asked the adopter if the dog was dropped or something causing a traumatic injury... they then charged the adopter for part of the bill. (?) The test results come back that he has a terrible urinary tract infection. Obviously this was preexisting and how they didn't see him peeing blood is beyond me. It was so bad there were clots floating in it. Now for the worst part: they wanted the adopter to now pay $100 for antibiotics, to fix the "healthy" dog he adopted and paid an adoption fee for. It was explained several times to the staff that making the adopter(customer) pay to fix the dog was ridiculous and terrible business. They rudely said to bring him back if he doesn't want him. The adopter sent someone to pick up the meds and at the door she was stopped by the vet saying she'd threatened them. She had told them she was going to tell everyone on social media that they were terrible. That is not a threat. This is the best part: the vet refused to give the dogs medication. This was on Saturday afternoon. Didn't offer any other choice. Just said NO. The adopter asked for the records, they refused and said they won't release without a court order. The veterinarian board is not going to be happy. And this veterinarian obviously doesn't care about the dog for refusing medication and denying medical records. Their "non-profit" status is also revoked per the IRS website. BEWARE! read more

This is the best vet in San Diego -- they take a wholistic view of your pet and adopt preventative care strategies. I went to another vet (which notably is famous in SD and highly overrated) that recommended amputations of paw toes for my pet and Sunset Cliffs instantly diagnosed and saw a macro level issue that was treatable and amputations would have never been the need. I really love this vet. Focus is on soft touch preventative care and their services are not overpriced. Also the lead vet is very experienced -- not a newbie. We have been going for several years now. Also they have a doggie teeth hygienist who comes once a month and we have utilized that as well with success. If you want straight answers at a reasonable price and someone who cares about animals looking at your pet, this is your place. read more

They took care of my cat who has been practicing some odd behaviors in the past two months. Their pricing and hospitality is excellent. The office was very clean and the staff was very knowledgeable. Now, they did recommend a follow up for something not related to my appointment but, at no point did I feel pressured. Vets can get a bad rap for this but I never felt that. When you ask a business a question, you expect an honest answer. When I asked Sunset Cliffs Animal Hospital (SCAH) their cost per night to board a cat, Bianca said "$20". Later she confirmed this price without mentioning another. Naturally, I was surprised at checkout to be told the rate was $40 per night. This ethical lapse, along with other disturbing incidents, are the reasons I am writing this review. You can't trust SCAH. When I arrived to take my cat home after boarding her, I was ready to pay the bill I had been led to believe would be $95 = 4 nights x $20/night + $15 for medication she was forced to take as a condition of boarding, the first threat SCAH made to me. Instead, SCAH said it was $40/night because she was on medication and charged me $155. I protested. The front desk women, all talking at the same time, replied that was the price. This trio appeared well practiced at battling clients confused at the magnitude of the bill. Then I was told SCAH would sic a collection agency on me if I did not pay $155--SCAH's second threat. I'll backtrack a little to discuss the question of medication. After $295.98 worth of lab tests were performed following my cat's prepaid exam, Lexi called, saying that lab results indicated my cat had hyperthyroidism, "standard for older cats", and suggested medication. I stated that medications can have side effects, side effects are toxic reactions, and I wanted to research the matter first. When Lexi related the symptoms of hyperthyroidism--"howling at night" and "ravenous hunger", I countered that my cat didn't have these symptoms. There was no urgency to medicate her. Having worked as a licensed clinical laboratory technologist after five years of study, I have performed countless lab tests. I realize their value. However, doctors normally consider the presence or absence of symptoms as well before prescribing medication, and SCAH didn't do that. In addition, Lexi urged me to put my cat on "prescribed" cat food due to another age-related condition. The two brands suggested were both inferior. Undoubtedly, my 15-year-old cat is very healthy overall because of the high-quality food and spring water she has received since I began caring for her at 13 weeks. Radiant health begins with nutritious food. After I paid $155, they brought out my ragdoll cat in the wrong carrier. They couldn't even get her carrier right! All the mistakes SCAH made--including those in arithmetic and spelling, as well as an incorrect "Circulatory" finding on her Patient History Report that I pointed out to them, not to mention noting her breed as "other breed" and color as "ragdoll" and counting Bianca's failing--make those responsible for these blunders look like they were the only ones who had applied for their jobs. Maybe there were no other candidates to choose from! SCAH has lost several highly praised veterinarians who used to work there. My neighbor followed one to another veterinary clinic. Yelp should limit reviews used for ratings to the last two years to reflect greater accuracy of a business's present quality. It appears that a current, correct rating for SCAH is three stars. Besides writing reviews on Yelp, disgruntled customers can contact the Better Business Bureau and the California Veterinary Medical Board. Reporting one's bad experiences with a business is important to help others avoid the same. We are one big family of humanity and happiest when we look out for each other. read more

Con Artists - do not go here. This place used to be good back when Dr. Webb was here, but now their entire goal is to ring up your bill. They did "senior blood tests" on my dog today WITHOUT ASKING even though he's only 7 years old and I brought him in for a routine appointment. When I was done they charged me $240 for blood tests I didn't ask for or approve and their only explanation was that they'd already run the tests so I had to pay. Stay away. read more

I took a gamble when I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Berg for my bulldog's soft palate surgery. We live in Orange County, so the drive to SD is further than your typical vet but the staff and Dr. Berg have been very patient and accommodating with me throughout the whole process. I inquired about the soft palate surgery (or as they call it, the bulldog special lol) since October/November and haven't really found the weekday to come down until this past weekend. As a nervous fur mother, I had plenty of questions and Audrey, Ariana, Kevin, and Sarah were extremely helpful. The other staff members whose names I didn't catch were extremely helpful as well. It's overwhelming to take home tons of medication with directions but Lara went through them one by one with us even though there was a printed list - so sweet of her. Dr. Berg is amazing - I loved her the moment I met her! Prior to surgery, she met with us and asked general questions to get to know us and our dog a bit more. As an owner of 3 bulldogs herself, I can see she truly cares about them and understands the troubles we've gone through to make sure our furbaby is well taken care of. I felt safe with her proceeding with the surgery and there was never a time where she made us feel like bad bulldog owners - she understood we weren't able to contain some of the issues 100% ourselves and that we do the best we can. Once my bulldog was done with surgery, she gave us an updated call because she knew how nervous we were as it's his first surgery. We picked him up later in the afternoon and Dr. Berg came out to talk to us again about the procedure, post-op directions, and kindly reminded us to call them if we have any questions. Surely enough, I did! I called this morning with questions and Sarah answered them for me. Ariana and Dr. Berg called later this morning for a follow up and once again, reduced my anxiety and nervousness about his post-op symptoms. This hospital was busy when I came early morning and late afternoon (phones were ringing, waiting room was full, people waiting to be checked in) yet the service and attitudes of the staff didn't change. They're still welcoming and carry positive vibes and assist each person or dog in a timely manner. My fiance and I have been bringing our 2 dogs in here for years. Over the last couple of years the service here has really gone down. The staff is very rude, but one of the Vets is pretty awesome. We called about bring one of our dogs in and we were told they open at 7, and just come by. at 7am I am waiting for them to open. A staff mamber comes out to walk a dog, and tells me the doctors don't get in until 9, so I need to come back. This is just one example, if you call they are rude as well.
