Ive been avoiding the dentist because have had horrible experiences, but also scary... and the staff there made me feel so comfortable and they seem to genuinely care. The dentists were so knowledgeable and told me exactly what I needed and what could wait (from that I could tell they weren't trying to take advantage, and were just honest and cared). I have been going to Sunset Dental Professionals and their incredible team for almost 20 years. I always feel genuinely cared for in a way that's rare these days. The office itself is spotless, modern. The front desk staff is always great. Dr Kwon is always amazing. During my appointment, they explained everything clearly and used the latest technology that made the entire process incredibly comfortable. I had some old fillings replaced and a cap redone and the results were outstanding! Zero pain. I actually relaxed in the chair thanks to their gentle technique and excellent sedation options. I absolutely loved my experience. Dr Kwon was so caring and so patient. The staff are so pleasant. I came for a check up since it had been awhile and this was my first time here. Received X-RAYS first and the girl performing the X-rays was so kind and asked many questions if I had any particular concerns etc. So I needed a deep clean. My insurance covered about 90% of it I believe so I paid only $100. The cleaning was great. I have nothing negative to say about this office. I felt so comfortable and happy here. My recent teeth cleaning went well. (10/2/25) Got my x-rays first. X-ray tech asked if I had any concerns, then the dentist took a look at my teeth. I very much appreciate Dr. Kim's detailed dental check since my teeth have been sensitive on one side. Previously, Dr. Kwon suggested that I would need a root canal and crown sooner or later, so I was so glad to know that I didn't need to have any special treatment done this time and that I just needed to brush lighter and with a softer brush. Dr. Kim is also very caring and observant of issues and needs I may have. The dental hygienist Esther also did a great job cleaning my teeth. She has been cleaning my teeth for a couple years now. She friendly, gentle, and patient. The receptionist was friendly as well. She booked my next biannual cleaning rig HR when I checked in. They can be hard to book sometimes, so booking in advance helps a lot. Got a goodie bag with a toothbrush and toothpaste after my cleaning. Glad they had toothpaste for sensitive teeth available. read more

I absolutely dread going to the dentist - only because I've been screwed by two different dentists and that's with me having Dental PPO insurance. However, this all changed when I came to here at Sunset Dental Professionals with Dr. Kim and his staff they deserve 10/5 stars. Not only is Dr. Kim the absolute best he is very knowledgeable and his staff (Stephanie F. & Stephanie A.) is exceptional. The hygienist Esther was amazing and took her time with my 6 month cleaning. I came back today for a root canal (my first ever) and Marlene and Dr. Kim were so gentle and efficient. Dr. Kim did say I might feel sore and experience pain after the anesthesia goes away, but it went away and there is absolutely no pain which is GREAT! Also - they were up front from the beginning of what my insurance covers and what I would pay out of pocket without costing me an arm and leg like other dental offices I've been to. I went in for the typical teeth cleaning that my insurance covers & they charged me extra because it was a "deep" clean. I've been here a hand full of times so I am familiar with their cleaning - teeth feels plaque free & sharp. This time in particular they did not disclose that they were performing a service that requires extra payment because my insurance does not cover it. All the other times before they cleaned it & my insurance covered it. I suppose those other times were just "regular" cleans. Also this so called "deep" clean felt like a regular clean if my memory serves me right from the other times I've been here. Not sure what the difference was but it just felt like a normal teeth clean. It might be because the dentist who performed on me seemed like he was in a rush? Not entirely sure but I don't feel like the clean justifies 3 figure price. I suppose it's my fault for not telling the people here that I only want what my insurance will cover for me. I would have deeply appreciated it if they had been straight up honest with me about this special cleaning service not being covered by my insurance. I was shocked at the price tag they slapped in my face. I only went here because my insurance covered the usual teeth clean. TLDR: make sure you ask them if anything costs extra! Because they sure did not tell me until after they cleaned my teeth. Lesson learned. read more

The care of Dr Kwon is second to none. I make this trip out from Long Beach and it's worth it. Dr Kwon is always attentive and considerate, constantly checking on me as he goes about cleaning teeth or fixing more major issues. The entire staff is informative and friendly. I went in for a teeth cleaning on 3/19/25. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment and waited 5 minutes before they called me in. Superior service. Mia took the x-rays and Esther helped with the cleaning. She gave me lots of great tips to sustaining healthy gum and teeth. Lastly, Dr. Kwon made sure to double check the condition of my teeth. I went in for my cleaning today. My teeth feel and look great! Esther was the hygienist and she did such a good job. She was thorough and painless and I really appreciate that. Frankly, I love this dental office. I've been going here for years when it was under another owner but when the new team took over I was (and continue to be) so impressed with their level of professionalism and honesty. Honesty means a lot to me. Another thing they do that is top notch is they follow up. My grandson recently injured his mouth/tooth during wrestling and they put what looks like temporary braces on three of his teeth. That evening the dentist called to see how he was doing. I brought in my 9 year old daughter because she awoke with a swollen gum right under a crown she got when she was five. I called and was assisted by Jennifer. She was extremely helpful and was able to get us in to see Dr Kwan within a few hours. Once there I was greeted by the receptionist immediately in a warm and friendly manner. The dental assistants and staff were very kind to my daughter who was very much afraid of what would happen. Dr Kwan was comforting and gentle and explained everything to my daughter ( which I appreciate as many people tend to overlook the patient simply because he/she is a child). Staying at a one star here. Much of your response, Dr. Kwon, is false. I was not the one that became rude. It was the doctor, who insisted that the bonding that he made was sufficient. I just argued that it was not, and that he made me "feel" as though he didn't care about my smile (i.e., ugly). As the following images will show, his work never followed "the natural curvature" of my tooth (1st image - me, way too many years ago) or in need of a crown (2nd image that shows the tooth with the original bond put on by another dentist years ago). Went here for the first time today. Took my daughter who needed a cavity filled. Everyone was very kind since the moment we first got there. We liked the doctor and staff. The only reason I gave it three stars is because I'm not sure if I got charged correctly. I was charged for the white filling because they told us that medical does not cover the white fillings they only covered the amalgam and this office does not use that material. I called my insurance and they said they do cover the white fillings so I'm really confused why i was charged for it today? I came hear reading good reviews but now I feel I was charged for something medical covers. :( Thank you for your reply. I did talk to someone in your office who explained the charge. As I explain to her I was confused that when the charge was explained to me I was told it was because the white filling was not covered by the insurance. That only the silver fillings where and your office didn't do those. So I was confused because I had inquired in the past and was told both fillings where covered by the insurance. I don't have insurance, but I happened to need a dentist ASAP. They're very efficient, I had a cavity and I needed it to be fixed right away. I was in an out within 40 mins! Dr. Kwon and his entire staff , from front counter to dental assistants are super professional and attentive. Dr. Kwon knows his field 100% percent. Came here because my crown molding fell due to poor dentistry somewhere else, they were able to fix it with ease. Got my four wisdom teeth removed here and had an easy recovery. They send you messages to check up on you after the work is done as well. During Covid, they are taking excellent safety measures. Only three clients allowed in waiting room, every single staff member had PPE on. Face mask, shield and gown. I've had routine dental exams ever since I was a kid, but over the past couple of years, I was on the move a lot and my insurance changed. When things finally settled down, over a year had already had passed since my last exam! It was definitely time to find a new dentist. Finding any new healthcare provider is a daunting task for me because I have to put a lot of trust in my provider as well as my time and money. After extensively researching providers that accepted my insurance, I finally decided to go with Sunset Dental Professionals. I had to coordinate between my insurance and their office a bit because for some reason my name didn't appear on their DMO insurance patient list, but we got it sorted out before my first visit. I recommend coming at least 15-20 min early on your first visit to fill out paperwork. If you're like me and actually read all the fine print, then it will take you that long. For the exam itself, the technician was efficient during the x-rays and Dr. Kim was efficient and thorough during the cleaning. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, then let the doctor know so he can adjust the pressure accordingly! They didn't make small talk since they seemed to be a very busy office, but that's perfectly fine with me as long as they take care of what I need. All the staff was professional and I felt like the office ran like a well-oiled machine. The office itself was also clean and well-maintained. I'll probably be on the move again soon, but before that happens, I'm glad that I've found my new dental office in Sunset Dental Professionals. read more

Amazing staff from the moment I stepped foot in their facility. Made an appt with Stephanie the day before and I was seen today effortlessly. Met with Dr Yung Kim (I apologize in advance if I misspelled their names). It was a very pleasant and calming experience. Even at my age I still get nervous with my dentist appt. Today got my full xray done and my teeth deep cleaned. A special thanks to my new and favorite dental hygienist Ms Esther Thomas. She is very efficient and catering when it comes to deep cleaning ur teeth. You will enjoy her tooth stories and toothbrushing advice, therefore u dont have to see her as much lol. Overall, my experience has been an amazing one. Next week i will be getting my teeth whitening kit all for one time fee of $50 (you can't beat that!!!). **They ACCEPT HMO** Dentist, the lovely dentist where all our fears lies. First it started off a bit rocky. I changed my provider to these guys and had to wait for the new month to start. Called them the first day and asked to get a check out or just a basic examination of where my teeth stand. The lady told me a month and a half. What seriously? I asked them if it was the earliest they said yes. Turns out my buddy who was in the same position as me called them and got an appointment a week later. I was irritated so I call again and ask then they got me a spot 2 weeks later. Onto the actual visit, I didn't wait long. They did the typical, xray then I spoke with Dr Kwon he went over what was needed to be done first. Very thorough, he asked me if I was afraid of the dentist. Of course (this is my first visit in what 15ish years?) he reassured everything would be fine and if there is anything needed to comfort he would accommodate me. I had a root canal & crown put in. Not much pain, just that initial poke but other than that it was good. As they are doing the procedure and they are introducing new instruments to mouth they would explain on whats going exactly. After the procedure was done I asked them, not that big of a deal. I also had my wisdom pulled since they were grown. It happen real quick within a hour I was back at home resting. I heard about the swelling and pain that comes after. Surprisingly, no swelling, no pain, but just a lot of bleeding. The next day I was fully functional! I wasn't 100% sure on their billing to my insurance, but everything was done at a reasonable price none the less. I can say I'm not afraid to go to the dentist anymore. read more

I'm one of those individuals that haven't gone to the dentist in 8 years. Coming into here for the first time in 8 years was not only nerve-wrecking but fearful. I let them know of my situation and I had an incredible amount of pain on my entire right side of my jaw. Turns out I needed a root canal... but Dr. Kim made it a really comforting and painless process and made sure that I was comfortable the entire time. I got my root canal done and crown completed in May and June. Then I found out my back wisdom teeth were infected (not surprisingly as one of them had a huge hole because it was cracked). I was told to schedule a surgery to remove my 3 wisdom teeth as the other 2 were getting infected as well and needed to be cut into to be removed. To be honest, I lagged this process because I've never been in surgery and was really nervous and scared. However, the anesthesia doctor was really professional and he let me know he's been in the industry for over 20 years so that made me feel a lot better. He walked me throughout the entire procedure and what would be happening and calmed me down a lot. The surgery was a success and it healed really nicely and cleanly. Dr. Kim even texted me to see if he could answer any questions! Their service is impeccable and so professional! I really overcame my fear of the dentist after coming here and highly recommend all patients to come here for dental services as they provide all types of services (dental, endodontics, wisdom teeth, etc.) in one location! read more

I can't say enough about this dentist office! I am so glad I found Dr. Kwon and his team. They're by far the best dentist I've ever been to. I first called them after fainting in a hospital after having surgery and falling on my tooth. I was having a lot of pain and Dr. Kwon was able to see me immediately. I've been a few times since and it's been an amazing visit every time. I'm extremely anxious about dental visits and Dr. Kwon is super understanding. He's really patient and makes you feel very comfortable. I never have to wait, they only tell you what you absolutely need and don't try to sell you on a bunch of work you don't need (which I've had happen at many other dental offices).
