While my family and I were in the neighbourhood for some errands during March Break, we decided to stop by this Sunset Grill location for some good grub. It was prime lunch during March Break and this place was buzzing with people. Although the restaurant was jam packed (no pun intended) we were able to snag a table. We ordered four meals including: * All Day Junior for the kiddo. It came with bacon, eggs, home fries and toast. * A sandwich for the other kiddo who cares for coleslaw. They got to have a sandwich with Albacore white tuna, mayo, celery and lettuce. * Classic Florentine** Omelette served with home fries and toast. It had baby spinach, onion and lots of ooey-gooey melt in your mouth Swiss cheese. * California Benedict which was three eggs over easy with bacon and guacamole on an English muffin, Hollandaise sauce, paprika and fresh chives. Served with home fries too. The adults drank coffees which were topped up by our attentive server. Plates were emptied into our hungry tummies. The service was prompt. Bad experience. First was seated at a dirty table under a drippy A/C. We moved to a table close to the food prep near the cashier. People lining up to pay with bums at face level. Ugh. Moved again. Watched the guy make our salad. No hygiene. Touched raw bacon with hands and then picked up vegetables to prep for salad. Wished I hadn't seen it. But we did. No gloves. No handwashing. Today was my first visit to this establishment. The Good: I really liked the servers personality The veggie omelette I ordered tasted great and was prepared promptly The Bad: The coffee cups they use were unnecessarily excessively small. I have attached a picture. The height of the cup is about half as tall as a lollipop. This forced me to wait for refills an unnecessary amount of time. And it wasn't the servers fault. There were 2 servers taking care of 11 parties at 11:30PM. They refilled the coffees as fast as they possibly could. The server mentioned that the management deliberately keeps the sizes small to force the servers to interact with guests. However what ends up happening in reality, is guests wait for coffee to be refilled, as the servers simply cannot accommodate 11+ parties that quick. Please change your coffee cups to a bigger size. When you have to wait for coffee to be refilled over and over again, it makes for a bad dining experience. read more

They had a situation with another customer and it was handled professionally (not sure why I tend to witness situation like this. Lol) Parking: 5/5 decent amount of parking, free Atmosphere and other: 4/5 the place is a little cramped, I feel like they need a bigger space and a patio. Sunset grill is definitely one of my go to breakfast places. My favourite meal has to be the sunset pancakes. The sunset pancakes comes in a set of 3 fluffy pancakes and house maple syrup. You can get either chocolate chip, blueberry or plain. I've tried both chocolate chip and plain and I much prefer their classic pancake. I've been to a couple of different Sunset Grill location and I find the customer experience to be about the same. When you walk into the place you get an old fashion Canadian diner feel (which I love). The waiters are always friendly and try their best to deliver your order quick even when its super busy. Majority of their meals on their menu come in nice hearty portions and for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this breakfast place! read more

Came here for breakfast with a colleague. Ordered 3 eggs over easy with bacon. Asked the server if I could substitute the homes fries and toast with anything else - she mentioned tomato slices or veggie sticks. I selected veggie sticks and I got one cucumber with two tomato slices. Server didn't mention anything just dropped off our food and left. I finally tagged her down, I asked if one slice of cucumber and two tomato slices were considered veggie sticks? She then mentioned they were out of carrots but didn't care to explain anything when the food was dropped off right from the start. She then brought two slices of cucumber. So instead of home fries and toast I got 1 cucumber slice and two slices of tomatoes. I came here this past Friday, and ordered an omelette. I asked for avacado on the side, got guacamole instead. the omelette tasted off so I only took a few bites before giving up on it because I knew it would hurt my stomach. fast forward to later that evening, I feel sick as ever and I can't understand what's wrong with me. next day I'm sick as a dog and can only make it to the washroom and back to bed. The food is done according to the customer's desire, i.e., my crispy bacon, and is plentiful. There is a big problem: the store is TOO popular for its size. Went here for breakfast today. I ordered the corn beef hash. The hash didn't really taste like corn beef or potatoes, but definitely wasn't horrible. The breakfast potatoes that come with it are a bit undercooked and would probably be better if they were deep fried. I had an absolutely horrible experience at this location and was honestly astonished by the poor customer service. We waited over an hour for our food, all the tables that were seated with us and after us received their food and finished their meals while we waited. The waitress simply started avoiding us everytime we tried to get her attention to ask about our order. After an hour we decided to leave, I approached the waitress and told her we were waiting for over an hour she laughed and said "yeah". I said I wanted to leave and would have appreciated an update if there was an error made in the kitchen. I also told her perhaps moving forward she should follow up with the kitchen if there's a delay in an order being fulfilled or atleast acknowledge the table. She was incredibly rude, said she punched in our order and isn't responsible for the kitchen and what they do. She even said wow I forgot about your order, its not my fault, I'm new here and just made excuses, didn't even apologize. She then had the audacity to charge us for the 2 coffees that we had been sipping on for over an hour. So unprofessional. I get its just a sunset grill but we often go with family and friends for brunch and have good experiences. The waitress was so rude. I will not be visiting this location again and will definitely tell my friends and family to also avoid this location unless they want to wait hours for their food and be met with rude staff. Such poor customer service, honestly the owner needs to have a word with their staff, I get your a franchise and people just walk in and out but experiences like these will make someone not want to ever come back. Sunset Grill breakfast is pretty much the same no matter which location you go to. I ordered their Classic 3 Eggs and Bacon with home fries and toast. It's really hard for something to go wrong and this was no exception to that. Eggs were cooked how I asked and bacon is bacon (Crispy or on the Softer side, it's always good). Now here is why I deducted 2 stars from the review. 1) The music was just too loud and the selection was poorly chosen for a breakfast/brunch place. It was the radio playing so I know it wasn't the establishments choice, but I suggest Sunset Grill look into creating a more suitable playlist. 2) The layout of this Sunset Grill was cramped. The tables are tightly packed and the servers bumped me several times while I was eating. Based on the average volume this location is likely to receive, it would be wise to take out some of these un-used tables which would free up the walking aisles and allow their customers to sit more comfortably. The service was pretty consistent and attentive the day we dropped by, and I guess that's also due to the fact that there weren't as many people at the 2pm mark?! Went for breakfast on a weekday it wasn't even that busy, but the service was awful. My server was rude, and certainly not attentive enough. I waited for 10 minutes before she took my order, and I had to ask for a coffee refill three times. Food wasn't the best either, the potatoes were uncooked and the bacon was too greasy. This place is supposed to be the all in breakfast place. They charge too much for such little portions and when I clearly ordered bacon with my meal I received sausage. If a breakfast place cannot know the difference between bacon and sausage your best bet is to find a better breakfast place. Food taste was not very good. First time here at this Sunset Grill for breakfast. Great local joint..2 minutes from home. Food was great, portion is good and most important food serve hot which is awesome!!! We had the club sandwich comes with home fries and 3 eggs with Ham. Busy place, it gets packed and can feel cramp between the tables, music was a bit to loud for such a small space. I'd give it 5 stars, but my steak tasted like a leaf of lettuce....absolutely no flavour...restaurants insist not using any salt, or marinade to grill their meats, and they taste like nothing.
