Eventbrite for Murder Mystery DINNER
Tricia B.

I went here for an event I found on Eventbrite, and I don't normally think it's fair reviewing places outside the normal dining experience. But right now I think I've seen enough to know I don't want to go back to Sunset Grille. It's very pretty driving in, with the restaurant over a body of water. The lights reflect nicely. Parking isn't too bad, it has two levels and nothing but the furthest point back is "too far". Then I went inside. The event was a Murder Mystery Dinner, as named in the Eventbrite. It described a fun event, you and your friends can be detectives! I was attending the event by myself, which the hostess immediately reiterated. "And you're attending ALONE...." This may have been less annoying if not proceeded by emails reinforcing that I was, in fact, attending alone. Am I the only person who maybe doesn't need this pointed out to them all the time? Anyway, the dining room is about 2/3 tables, and 1/3 the bar. The bar is shaped like a U. I, and the other bar attendees, were seated on the far side of the U. This means for much of the show, we could literally not have been further away. There spaces closer to the tables was being taken up by people who weren't officially attending the murder mystery. There was no waitress, the bartender professed not to know what was going on, and eventually I went to the buffet. It was your basic wedding food for a budget - Cesar salad, broccoli, potatoes, spaghetti, chicken piccata, and a fatty New York strip. The flavor and cook was okay, but nothing memorable. Even though collaborating at a bar in a straight line is incredibly difficult, we did band together as a team and were able to submit a guess. We were wrong, but a good time was had by all, and it seemed like the evening was coming to a successful end. This is when the bartender decided to inform us the ticket I already bought for the murder mystery DINNER did not cover the dinner. That was an extra $32.25. I bought a ticket for a DINNER, and was forced to pay out an extra $32.25 that was never disclosed ONCE. All they needed was a sign at the beginning of the buffet with the cost, and I would have been able to make an informed decision. In summation, non-existent communication and over priced food. If you're going to a special event, DO NOT SIT AT THE BAR. Demand a table.

Went a week or so ago to see Derik and the fun Bags. It was a wonderful time. We sat up in the balcony by the restaurant. We had a great view. All of the servers were Amazing! They were on top of it and attentive. Even though I just had an app, they were delicious. I had the wings. My friends ordered wings, calamari and we surprised our friend with a little birthday celebration. The team brought out a nice dessert to celebrate ! This is my second time at Sunset Grille but my first on the balcony. Waiting for next year to enjoy the band again!

Chill vibes and cold drinks and book bans. There is nothing appealing about hosting anti government hate groups, it's not something I seek out nor do I want to support a restaurant that supports this. All that and the food has been mediocre at best. Not appetizing. I'll pass .

All I can say is WOW! I had the pleasure of stopping at this gem on a trip north for work and what a pleasure, the view was spectacular the food was perfect, I asked for the wings well done with Honey BBQ and they were crispy and light and the sauce was perfect! And I am picky about my wings. I would come back just for that! And I ordered an orange creamsicle martini which was perfect!

Firstly when you drive into sunset grille it's gorgeous with the water and the golf course honestly so beautiful and if it's nice weather opt to eat outside the views are so nice!! This place gets very very packed and busy. So, if you're going with others it's best to make a reservation. There drinks are on point and they make homemade sangria daily! I love edd my huge shrimp so fresh!! But that scallop plate ohhhh lord not one bite of my plate was left. I think I totally stopped listening to my friend talk and I just said yummm 5 billion times!! I was so happy I got the last scallop plate for the night. It's super popular so I'm glad I got my order in. Also, the risotto was creamy and the string beans had a nice texture and garlic touch! Our food did take a while to come out but I will say it was worth it soooo worth it!!

Great food, excellent service. ! The service was very good and the food was great we had the artichoke heart flatbread and the Arizona avocado panko wrap, I would come back to this place they have a good size bar and a sizable dining room as well it looks like a great time when it gets warm out for the summer!

Well done burger?!

I give it one star because I have no other option but even one star is too much for this place! This place has gone completely down hill. From the horrible food to the even worse management. It's a shame because it was once a great place to go. Pictures of what our meals looked like after waiting over an hour for them. Manager was no help and actually came over with an attitude and talked down to the females who were complaining and would only speak to the men at the table. In 2019, this is disgusting and unacceptable. Complained to the MANY owners about our experience but that too seemed to fall on deaf ears! Never again!

Beet salad.

Lovely restaurant off Rt 8. We just went by reviews on Yelp and were pleasantly surprised. The rest is open to the public and is on the golfcourse grounds. It has a big indoor bar as well as indoor seating but we chose to sit outdoors overlooking the pond. Prices are very reasonable and service was very friendly and quick. I hope to go again on next trip to CT from NYC.

Ordered and food delivered within 10 minutes, granted it was off hours, but we were pleased. My partner & I ordered some things to share. Buffalo wings were exceptional-crispy and a nice spice that had just the right amount of bite. Figgy Piggy with a burger. Insanely tasty. Burger cooked to perfection, fig jam gave it a nice sweetness, the bacon was really crispy, and the sourdough was perfect. Served with house made fries/chips that were a great accompaniment. Meatballs, where do I begin? First, we had to take them to go because we were already too full. 3 large meatballs in a cute cast iron skillet with a generous amount of marinara sauce and melted mozzarella. Served with 3 giant wedges of pizza to sop up that sauce or make a lil sandwich. Delicious, every last morsel. Highly recommend. Not a large menu which is refreshing and what they've chosen to serve is done with care from the kitchen. Cute bar area for cocktails too. Oh and the other great thing.... Kenny our server was a joy AND they have really nice and clean bathrooms.

Pizza was fine. Feedback from the wife was that the burger salad was "worse than Maggie McFly's"…read morewhich is a pretty strong statement for a semi upscale establishment. Service was below average. Either I messed up and ordered the wrong beer in the flight, or my server did. The sweet heat pizza did not come with onions as advertised, and was rung up as "adult pepperoni" with no disclosure of the change. Atmosphere was fine, but unlikely to return.

Everything was very clean. Parking was a bit of a struggle - there was street parking above, below, and across, and a huge lot in the back. Supposedly there's a backdoor from the lower lot - those who tried found it to be locked. The food was delicious - my local burger was cooked medium, and the fries were little circles! They were well cooked but some had much more salt then others

The menu looked pretty good so we started with some apps. Beer cheese- definitely a different twist than I expected but it was great. Very flavorful, really beer forward. The bruschetta was ridiculously amazing!! The cucumber salsa was missing something but ok, needed some acid or heat. My disappointment started when they brought out our meal, (we still had two apps to go, I hate my meal coming out with or before the rest of our apps. I had the hot honey chicken and NE Clam chowder. The chowder was brown and was not what I was looking for, I packaged up to go. It was primarily the brown I assume the roux went farther than it should have or there is something else in it.. The hot honey chicken was ok, the chicken was paper thin , tasted mostly arugula no heat, no sweet... I'd switch out the bread for a roll next time and douse it with hot sauce. The cottage fries are out of this world and I would come back for beverages and those!! My partner had the biria sandwich which was fire, also had a salad which was really good as well. The cookies are really amazing! Actual Dessert- I am struggling with we opted for the Chocolate cake which was literally melting- did not think it was ice cream so not sure why we had a puddle in a box when we got home. I want to try other things, as we had some good and some not so good, so we'll be back and update again after another try.

Let's just say I wasn't sure - so I avoided it. Went in tonight as I was dying for a simple burger and didn't want all the trappings of other places around from an investment standpoint. Boy, was I glad I did. I grew up in NJ - diners are a religion. This, to me, was a nicer (yet still casual and welcoming) diner. There's no neon and stainless steel to let me think it was a diner - but it's the best of a family-style restaurant and the diner we all know and love. Service was simply fantastic. Friendly, prompt, fun/funny. Atmosphere comfortable and not pretentious. Food: I had a simple cheeseburger and rather than fries, took them up on their offer for a small bowl of soup. All - exactly what I had hoped. Cook on the medium rare burger was clinically perfect. Meat to bun ratio was spot on. Hot, juicy. Terrific. Giving four stars in its category today as I want to dive deeper into the menu. I want to try their coleslaw, and pickles, and a chicken strip, fries, onion rings/straws before I hold it truly against a classic diner. But let's put it this way - I can't wait. Ps. Server said they change their specials 2x a day!!! Come for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Don't let the sign fool you
