I've had this location several times but lately we've been going to the Southbury location because previously I felt the other locations fell off a bit. Well we loved Middlebury so much we came back two weeks later because it is closer to us. Outstanding happy hour, definitely up to par with Southbury. Everything was delicious, we enjoyed taco Tuesday and happy hour appetizers. The Carne Asada and the Cuban we're my favorites. But what sets this place aside is the outstanding service we received every time from Oscar. He has such a delightful presence, and is really an asset to this location as you can tell he really loves his job and does it well. Drinks are phenomenal, great service from everyone. Started bad ... got worse. This is not my first time to senor ponchos, but haven't been here in years, even though I live right nearby and I love Mexican food. I walked in on a moderately busy afternoon and found the bar empty. I sat at the bar. I received a phone call from my date and I expressed to her that there was no bartender here and I'm waiting for a drink. While I'm saying that there is an employee on my side of the bar who claimed NOT to be the bartender. After another minute of waiting, he said can I get you anything? I ordered my margarita and he made it. Turns out he WAS the bartender, and I found his behavior to be rude. When my data arrived, another bartender came behind. The bar served us another drink, and then we asked to be moved to a table outside. She was less than attentive and took care of other people before she took care of moving us outside. Didn't like that either. I ordered a stock. Margarita my date ordered a margarita without simple syrup. Which they made. We had three of these drinks each and she's a small thin woman. Neither one of us got much of a buzz. We should have been impaired. At the table, I had to get up and get my own table settings The food was fair. In the end, I was billed for my three drinks at a reasonable rate. Her margaritas were billed four dollars more each. I found this behavior to be abusive. I did not ask for extra liquor. I did not ask for premium liquor. We simply asked to have the sweet ingredient left out. I'm tired of this nonsense read more

We love Señor Pancho's, but we rarely visit the Middlebury location, and this trip just reminded us why (which is unfortunate because it's our closest location). The restaurant was on the busier side in the bar and on the patio, but there were plenty of open tables in the dining room where we were. The waitress took our drink and appetizer order, and we received our chips, salsa, and guac pretty quickly. The service went on a rapid decline from there. We asked for a salt shaker to salt our tortilla chips, and we were handed a shaker completely void of salt but full of rice. We understand this is common to keep the salt from clumping, but this was empty, so we asked for a new one. One of the bus boys mansplained the concept of why rice was in the shaker in an almost argumentative way, and we had to say we know, but there's no salt! (We think it was him that almost ran us over in the parking lot leaving aggressively at the end). We finished our appetizers and the drinks hadn't even come yet. It got to a point where we were heavily debating leaving because our main orders hadn't even been taken yet, but finally our waitress came back when we were about to lose our patience. The food was all delicious, but it was so unfortunate that the service was subpar. Also, we found the margaritas were small (especially compared to their other locations), the guacamole wasn't made tableside and was also served in a pretty small bowl, and my husband only received 3 corn tortillas with his fajitas. He tried to ask for more because he ran out, but never received them. Between the skimpy portions, weak service, and lack of air conditioning and insufferable humidity (thank god someone finally opened a door for a breeze), this location doesn't live up to Prospect or Southington, and we likely won't return. read more

The food was amazing. Very fresh ingredients with fresh vegetables. The service was great and very attentive. Ambiance is very fun with all of the Mexican flags and Fiesta hats. First time eating here and we were VERY happy with the food. It was flavorful and had the right amount of spice. It wasn't greasy and tasted fresh! I ended up taking some of mine home (the rice bowl) and the leftovers were just as good as the fresh dish. The only thing I would have changed about mine was that there was lettuce randomly in it; it didn't add to the flavor and it gave the fish a weird texture. My husband liked his a lot; he got the bandera to see which enchilada he liked best for the next time we visit. I didn't give 5 stars for three reasons: 1. Their family bathroom wasn't well maintained 2. They charged us $2 for a side of extra sour cream (which couldn't have been more than a tablespoon extra). I think that's a pretty steep price when a whole container of name brand sour cream at the store is $3... 3. It took an additional 20 minutes after we asked for it for us to receive our daughters ice cream that came with her meal. That's a long time for a kid to wait there when they're already done eating their main course. We definitely want to go back, and loved the food! read more

Ate dinner here several times with my family. They are kids friendly. Server was prompt and courteous. Food came quickly and was tasty. 4 star because when me and colleagues bought lunch from Señor it was mediocre. Cheese quesadilla didn't have cheese melted, few other things were not appetizing. Wow. This place is great. I came here every now and then when it was called Ceviche and it was good. But now this place is very good. I was there today for lunch. Heard a few days ago it had changed to Senor Panchos so I had to try them out. Even better than before. Staff were attentive and hospitable. The salsa is amazing!!! I bought a 16 oz. of it to go with an order of chips for later. I found out it's the same owner's as when it was called Ceviche but they've revamped and have gotten even better. good service, alright drinks, but everything on this menu that i've tried (i've gone a lot) i can't find something that tastes great. the food isn't horrible though it's just not good either. the rice has been hard, the enchiladas lack any real sauce with any seasoning nothing is made with care it seems. margaritas are fine but not strong enough. kids food is pretty gross i found blue stuff in my child's chicken tenders. my son dropped something behind the booth and there were several mouse traps just waiting for something. it is unfortunate because the waiters are all great. and so are the chips and salsa. wish they would hire a new chef or revamp the menu somehow read more

I dined solo at the bar a month ago and had a lovely experience. I enjoyed the flautas appetizer and a spicy margarita. The location is the major draw for me- any restaurant that provides the time to arrive in WALKING time is sure to be a favorite of mine. All Senor Panchos locations are amazing, and there's not any place better for Mexican cuisine. The owner Andy is as good as it gets and it rubs off on his staff. I've never had a bad meal there - even though I don't eat out for Mexican a lot - but I was completely blown away when we went there to try out their chicken wings. Yeah, I know! Why would you go there and order chicken wings? Well, because that's what we do. And guess what? Their wings are as good as we've had anywhere in the state! I had an amazing experience here at Ceviche Latin Grille, 5 course meal done the right way. I had a reservation for 2 at 6:00pm on a Thursday. I was running late and changed my reservation to 6:45pm with absolutely no issues. Still greeted and seated immediately, live music playing as well. Started off with lemonade that is made in house and will be mixed with a fresh flavor of your choice. I chose raspberry and did not regret it. Flavors weren't lacking or overpowering, it was just so refreshing and something I'd 100% order again. Hot Tapas are always my favorite and the ones they have here are truly something special. I was able to try the Stuffed Quail and the Chorizo con Queso Tacos. The Stuffed Quail was AMAZING. Meat was tender, moist and well seasoned. It was also accompanied by chips. As for the Chorizo con Queso Tacos, they were just a good! Wasn't drenched in cheese, it wasn't messy and the chorizo was great. Not overseasoned either! The tacos were comforting and savory just like they should be. I also had the Ceviche Caesar Salad. It was fresh, wasn't wet from being washed, and wasn't drenched in dressing. It had potatoes in it which many may mistake for stale croutons. But my entree was where all the hype was. I had the Ceviche Mixed Grille which literally was served in a mini grille. It was just a bunch of meats with Spanish Rice. I loved this entree because I was able to try a lot of there meats but sadly it was slightly lacking. The only meat that was fall off the bone amazing was the Baby Back Ribs. They were perfect. But the chicken, the sausage and the steak all lacked in some sort of way. Chicken was dry and a little hard, sausage has similar issues, steak was low quality, forgettable and overseasoned as well as drenched in a sauce to top it off. But my girlfriends entree was great! I wish I had a more focused entree as clearly a little bit of everything sacrificed the quality. She had the Pollo Ladrillo which came with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The chicken was extremely tender, complete opposite of mine! Garlic Mashed Potatoes were great too. It was a well done and well balanced entree. For dessert I tried a Tres Leches and a Choco Flan. BOTH were to DIE for! No other explanation except for the fact they were both PERFECT. Everything was moist, savory and just so well done. The best Tres Leches I've ever had period, even came with ice cream which was the perfect combination. The Choco Flan had the perfect amount of chocolate and the whole thing was just so well put together. Service was a 10/10. I was greeted upon entry, no issue changing reservations last minute, always there when I needed them, polite, friendly and very helpful with recommendations and description. As this was an amazing meal and experience despite my entree that I nitpicked at heavily, Ceviche Latin Kitchen deserves my 5-Star review. I'm not letting one order that wasn't even bad ruin the perfect experience they offered and gave me. Clearly they have some 10/10 entrees here and I ended up with one of their filling but 8/10 entrees. I'm definitely going to come back sometime soon. Went for a delicious Mexican feast. We were surprised and somewhat pleased to discover that our server was actually the head chef of the restaurant. He would continually ask what could be changed, what we liked, what we didn't like, etc. it was a great visit. And he's quite the sever too. They call him Columbia. Lol! For drinks, my wife ordered the frozen strawberry margarita. She loved it. It was flavorful, not over powering with alcohol, and quite the treat. I ordered a pumpkin martini from the specials menu. I enjoyed it. It had whipped cream and a cinnamon rim. Yum. To start we ordered guacamole. This place makes the best guacamole. Like. THE best. Seriously folks. The chips seemed fresh and they were warm. For dinner ordered tres tacos; fish, steak, bean & plantain. During the meal, the chef came to us and realized they put the wrong fish on, and he offered to buy the dish and being the right one out. It wasn't necessary since the fish taco my wife got was still delicious. She did say something to me about it but we're easy. I ordered the Texas burrito. It was delicious. And it was loaded with fixins. I couldn't eat another thing ! I'm lying because we ordered dessert. It was a plantain banana foster type dessert with ice cream. It was amazing. One thing I suggested would be less sauce for the dessert. It didn't need to drown in all that sugary goodness, although that's not a complaint more so a quality control aspect. Dined here last night on the patio which has lots of tables with umbrellas. Our waiter was great. We have been coming to this establishment for several yrs with our kids who live in the area and it was always just "ok" but after last nights meal I am giving a shout out to management and the chef! So, yet ANOTHER update here. This one is totally appropriate though as since my last update they have shifted to the Senor Pancho's branding and left the Ceviche idea behind. Part of me was kind of sad about this as we really enjoyed the uniqueness of the cuisine that Ceviche (literally) bought to the table. On the other hand, though, that place was more of a "once or twice a year", special occasion kind of thing. Since our local Mexican joint had recently closed, the option of more accessible and standard Mexican dishes here was intriguing to me. We had recently revisited the location in Thomaston and were happy, but honestly, we'd rather drive to Middlebury than Thomaston. A bit closer and a bit more familiar of a ride. We decided last minute to give the new look location a visit on a Sunday night. There were 5 of us and we made a reservation but as it turns out we didn't really need one. Only a few tables when we walked in and by the time we were done we had the place to ourselves, LOVE THAT! We ordered a pretty decent variety of apps and entree's and as always scarfed down enough chips and dip beforehand to not be able to finish any of them off completely. Late-night leftovers for the win! Entree selections included The Grande Combo (my go-to, every time), Veggie Chimichangas, Beef Brisket Fajitas and a variety of their "Street" Tacos. The consensus was that it was right on par with any other location we've been to, so food-wise, it was a complete win. And honestly, don't sleep on the street tacos, they're about as close to truck taco's as you'll find under a fixed roof. All other aspects of the place also proved to be on point; prices were totally reasonable, service was outstanding and the atmosphere was about as good as it gets. They have a great outdoor patio area but being as it was about 2 billion degrees out, we opted for air conditioning. At this point, I would say that if you're looking for really good and consistent Mexican food that will leave both your belly and wallet happy, choose Senor Panchos. As far as which location, I'd say look on a map and find the one that's the easiest drive. They're so consistent that you're going to be happy regardless. read more

Met some friends for Happy Hour, quiet I believe because of the earlier snow storm. Originally they sat in the lounge, but wanted a booth and since it was under the loud music they let us move, and enjoy the Happy Hour specials in the dining area! Awesome! Tapas are quite delicious here! Many different types for all people. I enjoyed the Garden Vegetable flatbread, PEI Mussels, and Mariquita (mashed avocado with delicious plantain chips). I washed all my tapas down with a couple Blood Orange Margaritas! Refreshing! We live in Middlebury and finally tried this place. It was a wonderful experience: both the food and friendly staff made it that! The menu is full of delicious choices. The margaritas were perfect and they don't skimp on the alcohol like some bars do. The authentic warmth and true hospitality of the staff round out a fun and special dining experience. The Guaba BBQ ribs are tender, and delicious! Try the Queso Fundido! It is Chorizo, monterrey jack and chihuahua cheese, baked and served with chips. Perfect. The veggie rolls were also very good, they have Cabbage, chayote, jicama, basil, bean sprout, roasted peanuts, cucumber sweet chili dipping sauce. We had an excellent lunch here with a local friend. The service was fantastic and the patio seating was nice. The Caipirinha was nicely done,and my friend had the Mojito. I think the star was the Ceviche Mixto plate; everything there was fresh and very tasty... an excellent dish. The Ropa Vieja was very good, using chuck roast rather than flank steak for a juicier feel. The chocolate pudding dessert was an excellent dark chocolate flavorful cup. Wow, I was just blown away by Panchos! My family lives close to this location and my sister suggested it for lunch. Inside is clean and well decorated. Chips and salsa are put on the table as soon as you sit down and they taste delicious. Salsa is flavorful and has the right amount of heat. We ordered margaritas one frozen and one on the rocks, both were delicious (mango was my favorite). Our waiter was friendly and checked on us often. I had chimichangas, which are easily messed up if not cooked right. The outside was crunchy and inside was cooked perfectly. Rice, beans and guac are served alongside - all were amazing. I cannot wait to come back to senor panchos, my new favorite mexican food restaurant in connecticut. A++!! read more

This was a cute little spot that you might pass by if you didn't know it was here. We stopped in here after being in town to visit family. After day 3 of thanksgiving leftovers we decided we wanted something different before heading back to Ohio. Our family of 4 was squeezed into a booth that would have probably sat 2 comfortably. We made due and looked over the menu to find lots of good options! As a vegetarian of course I know I'm limited at other places but here I was eyeing 3 different menu options. I chose the plantain and black bean tacos which were pretty good. They came topped with a Mango salsa and avocado. Everything was seasoned well but the lack of texture was not fun so I ask for some cabbage to add and that definitely helped. I also ordered a Margarita which was fair at best. I did take a couple sips of the soup which was amazing! I dodged the chicken as much as I could in the soup but the flavor was soooo good and light. We ended the night with sopapillas with vanilla ice cream and they were also great. I did have 1 small complaint, there is such thing as checking on a table too much. We were warned by my parents that arrived a few minutes before I did but it seemed like we were ask if we were ok every 5 minutes. It was ok a first but after awhile, we just wanted to eat. This was our first time ordering from here. I was super excited to have some Mexican food. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. I ordered the flautas (extra crispy); they were on a bed of wet lettuce so they were completely soggy and the chicken inside was actually cold. I also had guacamole. It was actually good because it was fresh but the chips were stale so...... Also my husband ordered the cheese dip and we had salsa but for some reason we only got a one bag of chips to go with those orders. My husband had a combo meal and it was ok at best. So for an appetizer, guacamole, cheese dip and a combo dinner we paid $57 bucks. So needless to say we were not impressed at all. Each bite tasted of disappointment. read more
