I was told by many this seafood spot is really good. I was in need of a good lobster roll. Crabby AL' s was able to get the job. The servers/bartenders were great and pleasant. I ordered to go which included a hot lobster roll , cold is also an option. Buffalo chicken tenders, and a side order of shrimp. They allow you to order the shrimp by the piece which is $2 a shrimp. The shrimp are a good size! While I was waiting I had a drink as well spicy margarita which was good. Overall I will be returning when I want some good fresh seafood. The food was delicious once I got home, lobster roll stuffed! The lobster is packed separately so the bread does not get soggy. Just a heads up the lobster roll is $40 but itis well worth it! First time coming here and ordering for a group of three We ordered 2 orders of the coconut shrimp, a Caesar salad, a house salad, a buffalo chicken wrap, and clam chowder. Everything was flavorful except the fries were a little dry. The clam chowder was my favorite. It was creamy and very delicious. The menu prices online are INCORRECT! An unpretensious local bar with a long L shaped bar, small pool table, several booths and an outdoor patio. The food was excellent! I had the beer battered shrimp and fish; the crispy outside as thin and tasty, the shrimp were HUGE and the piece of fish was also large. The clam chowder was rich and full of ingredients. What a great local spot with karaoke and good food! We've been meaning to try this spot since moving nearby. The parking is on the street which is okay if it's not a busy night. The entrance in front does not lead to a waitress or a booth you walk into a bar. Which is fine but just so you know. From what I saw though is that there is a restaurant dining side I just didn't bother figuring out how to get there. Anyways, we sat at the bar that had plenty of seats! There is 1 pool table. The waitress staff are super friendly and want to make sure you like your drinks and food! I love seafood but if you're not big on seafood like my boyfriend just know that options are slim for non- seafood lovers. I got the lobster bisque and lemmmmme tell you- CHEF's kiss! It actually has claw lobster meat in there so you know it's not the fake stuff. Veryyyy flavorful! I also got the cheesy garlic bread- Um yum !!! My boyfriend got the burger and fries and not a crumb was left/ really big burger too. The martinis are on point!!! Truly enjoyed the winter creations they had. We have been here many times and always got great service. The mixed drinks are very good and you get your money's worth. The seafood is always fresh , hot and delicious. I would definitely recommend for a nice meal . They also have live music at 8 pm. The bar area gets booked up so make a reservation ahead if you want a table with music. Firstly I am a picky picky foodie and can cook better than 90% of establishments that I visit. This place is so casual and under the radar, we just happened upon it. We shared the French Onion soup (some of the best we've had and to my great disappointment it was not shared in a 50/50 split (yes I could have ordered another but I'm full) Also the crab cakes, flavor was amazing, personally I like to see big pieces of crab but these were very tasty and the sauce was also great flavor. Lastly we shared the calamari with Gorgonzola cherry pepper sauce. Very creative and also very delicious. We encountered no crabby people named Al, our server was a cute little blond who's name I failed to get but she was wonderful and gave good recommendations. The seafood was top shelf and fresh, but the poor breading which was thick and fell off in chunks made it disappointing. The sevice was exceptional and the restaurant was very clean. Crabby Al's deserves five stars for their lobster bisque alone. There are close contenders for best, but far and away this had the most lobster. There was a tinge of tomato, and was so warm and creamy it was the perfect touch to a drizzling evening. Although the restaurant was quiet, our waitress provided an appropriate amount of attention without hovering. We arrived an hour before closing, and still received great food and service without feeling rushed or shortchanged. The fried clams platter was huge, as were the clams themselves. Just had dinner at Crabby Al's Seafood in Thomaston,CT for the first and last time! A complete rip off for the over priced and greasy food! We ordered fried oysters as a starter. Got about 8 greasy and heavily battered tasteless lumps (supposedly oysters) for $18. Friend had clam strips and house made oily cold potato chips. Clam strips overpriced for $20 but at least they were edible. I had the whole belly clams which looked and tasted like clam strips but were greasier. Market Price was $37. Complete rip off for something that did not even resemble whole belly clams. Total bill (including 2 Pepsi's) amounted to $88!!!! Best advice is to skip Crazy Al's and find a place like Tony and Sons in Watertown, CT where they serve fresh and tasty seafood that is reasonably priced! read more

First time visiting. Reminisced about when the place was called "The Glass Door". Wife and I had very nice meal. She got her yearly fix of whole belly clams. I got the blackened Yellow Fin Tuna, done medium to perfection. Service was excellent. Atmosphere is about what you'd expect. A bit pricey but what isn't these days under Obidenomics? Late updated review, we were there 4/7/15. I thought the food quality has gone up a notch since our last visit to Crabby Al's. My burger was tasty (albeit, still not what I consider to be medium-rare). Sweet potato fries were good, a very generous portion also. My wife's steak sandwich was excellent, she enjoyed it quite a bit. We also shared an Eggplant bites appetizer, it was very good too. Found this place along our Apple Maps route as a suggested food spot and crab sounded good since we were driving through New England. First of all you should know that calling a place Crabby Al's doesn't imply that they serve crabs. Mediocre crab cakes yes but not fresh crabs. It's not false advertising- it's just stupid. The waitress commented "yeah everybody comes in here looking for crab hahaha". You think maybe it would be a smart move Al to start selling crabs? I use to be a regular here coming at least 5-6x/week, for 4 years straight. It was where I went to grab a cold beer & relax after work, literally almost every single day. It was my second home. I brought friends & my significant other in to support the business & hangout on live band nights. The drinks are great & fairly priced and the food was always amazing. Sadly I'll be giving it a one star simply for the actions & behavior of the waitstaff. Never have I went somewhere being treated so horribly after YEARS of being a regular. This doesn't count for all the waitstaff, there's a good handful that I still respect & always offered amazing service with a friendly attitude. However a good majority of the bartenders think they run the place. There was an incident where another regular was complaining of me smelling like marijuana, and the bartenders took it onto themselves to scold me & my lady in front of everyone else (which those same regulars complain about literally everything like the lights being too bright & the live band being too loud, to the point where the bartenders immediately turn the lights down for them the second they walk in the door). Yes I smoke marijuana which is 100% legal, & it's no one else's business what I do on my own time. That shouldn't even be a complaint especially with all the things I've witnessed over the years. When the issue of my marijuana use was brought up, I simply brought up other things they should be concerned about, like the sexual harassment going on from customers to others and even to certain staff & the disgusting comments other older regulars make towards people, the coke use in the men's bathroom on multiple occasions that I've witnessed (& when brought up was said that it's fine that it's done because it's done in a stall away from people) Yes, the bartender literally said that to me. Yet my legal substance has become a problem even though waitstaff & regulars have gone out for cigarettes & come back smelling like it. I've witnessed people driving home drunk after being served way too many drinks, etc. Yet I'm the one who is impaired..There's a lot that goes on here that would surprise people & the fact that I got reprimanded over marijuana really irks me. Not once have I ever complained of anything mentioned above, I simply had my beer & minded my business. I'm an adult that is doing something 100% legal & not once did the manager ever say something to me. It always came from the bartenders which in my opinion, is way above their pay grade seeing something they also like to complain about is what people tip them. The food & drinks are Amazing here, just definitely not a place I'd ever bring a child to considering the other kinds of stuff being done & them not caring about it when brought up. There is absolutely no need to be telling someone what they can & can't do on their OWN time, especially when it's legal. Went here for a quick lunch as my GF and I were craving a fish sandwich. The place was dark and decorated with cheesy fisherman's motifs that were super dusty.
