Found this place on yelp while trying to find things to do during our week long vacation. I have never handled a gun or been near one for that matter, so this seemed like something out of the ordinary to try. The instructor was fantastic. She calmed any fears I had of holding a firearm and broke everything down before the gun was even loaded. I had a great time, even in the bitter cold and snow. I had the opportunity to fire 4 different types of guns. Anyone who is looking for something out of the ordinary while in the area should check this place out. Great staff, very knowledgeable with the firearms we used. This was my second visit and so I brought more people. They all had a great time, some first timers left feeling really confident and less fearful of hand guns. Machine gun was crazy and the cannon of a sniper rifle pushed my shoulder back into place. The wife and I took turns blasting away with the sniper rifle, shotgun, 9mm handgun. Although we had never fired a gun in our lives, the very friendly staff made us feel very comfortable. They are mostly off-duty police so they know how to handle firearms. I was a bit afraid to fire the Desert Eagle, with all the scary YouTube videos I've seen of people getting knocked off their feet by it's tremendous kickback. However, after I saw a little 14 yr old girl firing away with one, my friend, wife and the staff wouldn't let me live it down. And boy was it fun, kickback is a little scary but it's nothing compared to the shotgun. Hey, you only live once... unfortunately for all my targets they died that day. :) Pro Tip: Come early to avoid long lines! read more

It was a great experience. They provide ear plugs and goggles, but I suggest doubling it up and wear in-the-ear-plugs. You wait on a queue until the next available instructor. Our instructor was informative, humorous, and knowledgable. We shot the .44 caliber first which was pretty easy because the recoil wasn't bad and it was light. We then tried the deagle - that gun is so heavy and a bit more recoil than I expected. We also did the h&k which was pretty cool shooting through the hologram crosshair. The instructor marks down the guns you use and how many rounds you shoot. You take the piece of paper to check out and then pay. I think it was pretty reasonable. Overall I think this was a great facility who value safety and more importantly they really strive to make the experience fun! read more

Our instructor, Luke, was super nice and very accommodating to any hesitation we had amidst our shooting, and was more than willing to give advice and recommendations throughout our time. Ok they have everything here. Thats the good thing about this place. if you're new to shooting this place is OK. First this is a plinking place. No paper targets with the price that you can review, just wood blocks tied to rope 25 yards away. They assign a shaperone with you and while I understand it's their guns their rules the whole arm in the back thing is beyond suffocating. The good thing is they allow you to load all ammo in shotgun for skeet/trap. read more

My friends and I were in the Poconos for a weekend getaway and decided to stop by Sunset Hill Shooting Range. It was raining cats & dogs the day we went, but a little water didn't hinder our experience at all! This was my first time ever shooting, let alone holding, a gun so I was initially a little nervous. Our instructor was super patient and taught me every tip & trick there was to shooting/hitting the target. Sunset Hill had a wide range of firearms to choose from. I shot both hand guns and rifles; GLOCK 17, 19, 22, AK47, and a sniper rifle. Towards the end I really got the hang of shooting and was shooting the same spot over and over again. BAM! (haha) This was a great first experience for me and I'm itching to go back! WARNING: there are only porta-potties outside that are DISGUSTING. Came here for the first time today, cause i always wanted to shoot a sniper rifle and a 9 mm! When i checked the weather it was suppose to be cloudy and 40's when i got here it started snowing mildly and being that the range was outdoors .. i was freezing! The staff was really knowledgeable and my instructor was super friendly, he was not super touchy or anything like what the other yelpers mentioned. I came with a friend so we were a small group and we each got to try out different guns. It was definitely on the pricier side but i had so much fun and would definitely recommend this place to everyone. They have a wide variety of guns and the moving pucks for the shotguns was definitely a must! They charge $3 for goggles and the ear thing, targets are 1.50 and everything else is as listed when you go there. Tip* come when its warmer! and make sure you have a firm hold of the sniper rifle if you are a girl ... that recoil hurts cause i wasn't holding it close enough :( read more

I came here for the first time. Waivers on done online (due to Covid) We purchased goggles that were needed and given ear protection to use. They are serious about wearing eye and ear protection, as well as keeping masks on. Our instructor was awesome, explained to us the safety, and helped us with holding the guns, stance, etc. There were lots of different guns to choose from...from air pistols to grenade launchers. The prices were very reasonable, compared to other places ive been too. You get charged for rounds used, and wasnt as pricey as i thought it would get. Hi, so I went with my 2 kids last week . I chose this range based on their good reviews . When arriving the staff was extremely friendly. My daughter is 16 and loved it! Since my son is 12 they allowed only BB guns for him. My favorite was the handgun. Amazing that this place is only 2 hrs from NYC and a beautiful drive to this town. Javier was our instructor who was detailed, informative, smart, and happy. I strongly recommend anyone to request him. He has so much patience, we tried almost every available gun. Definitely an excellent place for beginners. I paid around 240 for 2 hours of non stop shooting. I'll be back soon guys! Excellent work! read more

This past weekend was my first time ever going to a shooting range, and it turned out to be an incredible experience. We arrived around 3:30, so it was pretty crowded, but the line seemed to move at a reasonable pace. I wasn't really nervous until it was my turn to shoot, however my instructor was very patient and gave great guidance on how I should handle the gun. After my first round with the 38 revolver, we gradually moved up to the .40 caliber, .45 ACP, .223 AR-15 sniper, and .308 HK MR762 A-1 sniper. Each gun was a different experience, but ultimately I loved the snipers the most. Very powerful, but so much fun! Ultimately, I had an incredible experience for a beginner and definitely cannot wait to go back! I'm hooked! read more

Spent the day with 2 friends and 3 of the most amazing instructors during our VIP experience. Tiny, Oreo, and Devil Dog were great - their knowledge of the firearms and their personal experiences on and off the range are second to none! Coming from NY the drive in wasn't too bad and the check in process was seamless. Most importantly, from the very second you step foot in the door, you know safety is at the forefront of this operation. The VIP experience was worth every penny - the private bays, the individualized attention of the instructors, and the access to some special items was a plus. First experience and let me tell you how AMAZING it was! Brandon was our expert and he was SO helpful, knowledgeable and friendly (as was all the staff!) . My boyfriend and I went in there not knowing what to expect and this range exceeded all expectations! We went through a variety of guns (pistols to sniper rifles to shot guns ) safely and we still can not get over the experience! All prices were laid out in each shooting booth. We had Antonio. He was very informative about the guns. He helped us choose which one we wanted and showed us the correct was to use them

My dad and I went Saturday the day before Father's Day and all the instructors were very nice and accommodating. We had Mike "Meatball" amazing instructor. He was very laid back and funny but was very knowledgeable about the firearms, if you get a chance get him. We had a lot of fun and will be coming again! Also bring cash to tip your instructors! We did not bring cash but were allowed to put a tip onto the bill. read more

I Booked a V.I.P. session through the range's website. A deposit was required. The email confirmation said that the deposit was paid to the range and would be deducted from my final bill. After shooting I was informed that the deposit was booked through a third party and their fee would not go towards the bill. I informed them that this was not stated anywhere and showed them my receipt stating the deposit was paid to them. I had no recourse except to pay the extra fee since they hold your drivers license until your bill is paid. read more

The worst service ever. When we arrived we signed for two instructors because our group was big. After waiting for hour and a half passing multiple lines,right before the shooting to start, they was letting us know that the instructors are on lunch and there is no available instructor to take our group and either we go all of us with one instructor or we have to leave. After all, they let us go instead of giving one more instructor. The worst customer service ever, blaming for miscommunication from one employee to another. read more

My first shooting range experience and it won't be my last! Honestly, the whole experience was surreal as I walked in with my heart racing while imagining the worst case scenarios. Since all of my friends were down for it, I mustered up the courage and decided it was now or never. After listening to the safety instructions and being equipped with goggles and ear plugs, we headed out to the battlefield. Once outside, you should not remove your earplugs as the gunshot sound is deafening. Depending on your level and the gun you want to try, a different instructor is at each station. I was recommended .22 caliber which is great for beginners. The Beretta Neos was easy to use with almost no recoil. Next I moved on to try a 9MM Glock 17 and it was not bad with a little recoil. After a few rounds, I was a lot more comfortable so decided to try the big guns and went for the Remington 870 shotgun. The instructor was great and reassured me the gun won't be too heavy if it's rested on shoulder. He also made sure my hair was away from my face and shoulder to avoid getting my hair tangled with the gun. What a considerate guy who knows the importance of women and their hair! After the shotgun, I was going to call it a day but a few friends wanted to try skeet shooting. Instead of an unmoving target, a clay target shoots out from a station to mimic a bird flying and you shoot it with a shotgun. Based on observation, it was a lot more difficult than what I've tried so I was happy to just watch. However, after 2 friends tried, the instructor asked me if I want to give it a go and under peer pressure, I caved AGAIN. Don't let anyone tell you peer pressure is always bad because I had the most fun with skeet shooting!! It requires both focus and strength as the shotgun is heavy, especially for my petite frame. Needless to say, I discovered I had a hidden talent with shooting flying objects. Of the 5 rounds, I got all 5!!! @#$%&^* Perhaps it's not too late to change profession... It was definitely an unforgettable and fun experience. I would recommend Sunset Hill to all beginners and advanced shooters. Every instructor I went to were great, knowledgable and patient. I would love to come back especially with their reasonable pricing. read more

The facility is nice, the range is huge and spacious. Keep in mind, it is outdoors although everything is covered. Safety is terrific, there are lots of instructors mullingng around keeping an eye on everything and everyone. Although most of them were smoking most of the time. They have a tremendous selection of firearms to choose from, everything from little pistols to large sniper rifles and a shotgun range. It is rather expensive. It ends up being three dollars per round, approximately, they charge you per "magazine", however they only load the clips with five or six rounds... Which is kind of lame as the mags hold much more. Also, not sure whether it is a state regulation, or just their rules, but you don't get to handle the weapons very much. They load the clips, they put the clips in the weapons, they basically baby you up until the point where they're ready to hand you the weapon already pointed downrange, once you finish your rounds, they are 2 inches from your face already ready to take it from your hands. If you want to actually handle the weapon, learn how to use it, either try a different place, or go to a different state. read more

Great time. We were a group of 4 with a couple of new shooters and had Alec as our instructor. He was awesome and was super patient in teaching all the fundamentals. Ok what I love about this place is the trainers, each time I go the trainers are friendly & helpful. They take their time with you to explain & there is no judgement. It feels like they truly want you to learn & have a good time. I think the only thing I don't like the most are other patrons but for the owners & staff, money is money too bad they could charge more for annoying patrons! Anyway totally love coming here & love that my kids enjoy it. It's a great safe environment to learn & appreciate fire arms. We won a Sunset Hill Defcon experience at an auction for Camp Freedom in Henryville. My wife and I are avid shooters. The guides asked our experience levels and immediately talked and treated us like colleagues. The gun selection was great. We were able to shoot weapons we were interesting in acquiring AND shoot guns that were on the bucket list - i.e. a Desert Eagle and a Barrett m99 - 50 BMG, not just once but twice. Great great place , located in a secluded area in the Poconos. My husband and I saw an ad for this place at the hotel we were staying and decided to check it out. Reasonably priced, instructors are very informational and patient. All the staff were friendly , huge selection of guns to choose from. Family friendly place. My favorite thing here is the grenade launcher , My husband's favorite was the mosh berg and the Aug‼‼ My husband and I visited the first time on July 4th 2020 had so much fun we came back the next day. This is truly the #1 place in all of Eastern PA for beginners. Friendly and knowledgeable instructors make sure everyone has a good time, no matter your experience level. Tight safety protocol. I learned a lot and had a ton of fun!! Highly recommend if you're looking into buying your first gun, or just trying to get a feel for different firearms. I learned that I like to shoot trap, prefer a pump action shotgun, and like to shoot revolvers. I also started to learn how different caliber ammo feels, how much recoil I can handle, and which firearms tend to fit my frame best. After more research, I made a purchase and came back for one-on-one training, which I also recommend. Since then I have visited other ranges (public and private) and shops that are much closer to where I live, and I have to say that people elsewhere are often super arrogant and gatekeepy, always trying to flex on you with their knowledge to make you feel like you don't belong, even if you're following all the appropriate safety protocols. I feel like this is a recipe for producing lots of uneducated and unpracticed gun owners. Imo there would be far more widespread support of 2a rights and legislation if we didn't discourage so many people from learning all they can about safe firearm use! read more

I have never shot a gun before, and I'm also extremely jumpy (fireworks make me jumpy). I was nervous and very hesitant to go all-in, but our instructor Kenny made it worthwhile!
