Mike is a nice, hard working guy. The sunset motel is a quiet and cozy place. I highly recommend it for any overnight stay.

The room had a television cabinet, easy chair, table, and chairs. Since we were in a kitchenette, we also had a big fridge with freezer, countertop stove, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. The bathroom and dressing area are spacious and well designed. The rate was $135 with no taxes or fees. staff: Front desk staff were great. Our key cards were ready when we arrived. Because of a snowstorm on the morning we left, the front desk offered ice scrapers to dig out our vehicles. common spaces: There are tables and chairs in the lobby for use at breakfast. Appears there is coffee round-the-clock. food and beverage: No bar or restaurant and only a handful of places in North Chicago, but Lake Bluff and Lake Forest are nearby with tons of options. The complimentary breakfast is just fine. Bonus points for the Navy's logo appearing in the center of the waffle press! other: The lodge has a large vending area with ice and filtered water. Plenty of surface parking right outside.

Check-in was quick and friendly; staff were warm and helpful from start to finish. They keep things professional without losing that personal touch. Big appreciation for the shuttle driver. I didn't catch his name. We booked the 7:00 AM shuttle and rolled up to the gate 8 at 7:09. By 7:13, we were seated inside the venue. Meanwhile, we passed a line of cars at least 100 plus deep--easily an hour + wait, maybe more. If you're attending graduation: don't drive. Seriously, you'll regret it. The shuttle is reliable, fast, and way less stressful. The rooms were neat and functional. Pillows were firm, which we appreciate. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and clean, with solid Wi-Fi. It's quiet, pet-friendly, and perfect if you're bringing a four-legged sidekick. Continental breakfast is basic. Boiled eggs, package slices of bread, bagels and fruit,. Basically, grab-and-go items to start your morning, but don't expect a full spread. Still, it's convenient for early starts.

In the lobby they have seating and a small cafe. They offer pricey breakfast and sandwiches. They had a pool, hot tub and fitness room that I got a peak of but didn't get to use. Our room was typical - would have loved to have been able to open the sliding door to go outside but I guess it is blocked for safety reasons. The hotel was pricey for how basic it is but I guess that is what they cost in the area. Overall, it was a good stay.

First visit back in March 2024 was a pleasant one, so decided to try it out again at this hotel after finding a reservation with very good rates a month ahead of time. When checking in at the front desk at 2:40 PM on Wednesday, 8/21/24, was greeted right away by the employees. I received excellent service for my reservation booking and even got complimentary bottles of water along with some information regarding the Navy Boot Camp. The packet contained important timings and directions for the graduation ceremony as well as places nearby to eat at and visit. In addition, requesting for extra bath towels, body lotion, and some toothpaste were met with care and in a timely manner from our hotel room. Requesting for toiletries and bath items from Housekeeping when they came by to clean the room was met with great expectations! Amenities around the hotel and restaurants, retail stores nearby was a plus, as they were walkable and very accessible! We really enjoyed our stay once again! Good service. Parking spaces are kind of narrow, though. If there are inconsiderate people who park outside the lines and are too lazy to fix their cars, it is hard to find a nice space to park correctly in.

If you're here for a while it can be annoying dealing with neighbors (kids who want to party in a hotel for some reason) the staff handle it well but it's unfortunate that they gotta deal with stupid stuff like that. But all in all a great hotel for its price and the staff is excellent. 10/10 would stay again only 4/5 because I had bad neighbors but nothing to the hotel itself or the staff.

The front desk young man at check in was very nice...it's well located by shopping. BUT...Just had the rudest housekeeper bang, literally, on my door saying That we need to leave the room Because they are shampooing the carpet. I nicely explained there must be a mistake cause we just checked in yesterday and we'll be here through Sunday it will have to be done then. They said no way, It's today get out...lol, literally. I spoke to the front desk manager LILY who said the same thing. She said this has been planned and they were doing the whole building, if I don't like it they'll give me a refund on the next 4 days and I can find a different hotel. They did not care they did not understand why I thought this was inappropriate, they sais they had no time to notify guests booked. She had No answer when I asked why it wasn't on their website that this was planned. They did not see why there should be A Notice on their side that this was going to occur. And Lily at the front desk said though it will only take 15 minutes yes the rug will still be damp, And she does not note for how long. So, heads up for the future, The experience was kind of Yuck. Now back to excitement! We have a SAILOR!
