Because of a snowstorm on the morning we left, the front desk offered ice scrapers to dig out our vehicles. common spaces: There are tables and chairs in the lobby for use at breakfast. Appears there is coffee round-the-clock. food and beverage: No bar or restaurant and only a handful of places in North Chicago, but Lake Bluff and Lake Forest are nearby with tons of options. The complimentary breakfast is just fine. Bonus points for the Navy's logo appearing in the center of the waffle press! other: The lodge has a large vending area with ice and filtered water. Meanwhile, we passed a line of cars at least 100 plus deep--easily an hour + wait, maybe more. If you're attending graduation: don't drive. Seriously, you'll regret it. The shuttle is reliable, fast, and way less stressful. The rooms were neat and functional. Pillows were firm, which we appreciate. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and clean, with solid Wi-Fi. It's quiet, pet-friendly, and perfect if you're bringing a four-legged sidekick. Continental breakfast is basic. Boiled eggs, package slices of bread, bagels and fruit,. They gave us 2 rooms with king beds instead of 2 rooms with queen beds. The key cards had to be reset several times each day for 4 days. Other guests also had this experience as we would discover in the hall or waiting by the front desks talking to each other. No apology or explanation. The ' laundry' amenity is you pay them $10 to do it. But you switch it and provide the detergent. The night guy said bring our laundry at 9 PM then 10 PM THEN 11PM my son stayed up until 4 AM and laundry was not done. I ended up doing it in the morning. Then the guy came to both doors at 11PM for payment after he said he'd put it on our bill. The night guy is a huge smoker seldom at the desk and constantly outside on his phone smoking. He apologized when I pointed out that I had told him we were out of clean clothes and repeatedly told him we would wait up for the laundry. Finally got it done and he came up at 11 PM like a crazy person for $10 that he said would be on our bill. The day people and cleaners are nice and hard working. The rooms have 1 drawer that opens the others don't in the 4 rooms we were in. My room has no place to hang clothes but the other room does. The side doors to the building don't lock so anyone can come in from side doors. I guess they did that because key cards don't work. The small fridge in one room has a broken wire in the door so it won't hold anything. Police were around the building this morning at doors and going up and down the halls. I guess it is good to know they will come if needed. Key cards, doors, and customer service need improvement. Night guy needs a ton of improvement. He said it is a family business so his day shift family might be avoiding working with him.

We were supposed to get service everyday. We FINALLY got someone to get our trash and dirty towels on our last full day at the hotel. This was after both my husband and me asked for service on the 2nd evening, the 3rd morning and evening, along with the 4th morning. Also, the desk chair in our room was badly stained and there was just a Hampton Inn & Suites level of comfort missing. If we ever go back to Great Lakes / Waukegan, we will choose a different hotel.

It took about 45 minutes with priceline staying on the phone (Even though they kept trying to "make me deal with it" and hang up). 3rd party gets paid by me, they in return use a virtual card with the exact amount to pay the hotel. For some reason all payments for all reservations that day were not going through the 3rd party virtual cards. At the end we were able to cancel through the 3rd party, and rebook with the exact same low price on our own. The hotel was nice enough to I guess honor that, but also was very suspicious - almost like they just wanted to book it themselves and not deal with a 3rd party to get the full credit. IT put everyone who booked this was through a big headache and made our trip start off terribly. You would think having a stack of reservations would make the manager/hotel do something nice for the headache they are about to put us through. They really should have offered some type of credit or at least some free snack or water just to show they cared about the actual customer. Room then smelled like there was a leak in the past just a muggy damp smelling type room. We were out the whole night and really just needed the room to sleep for a few hours. If this was not the case, we would have then asked for another room or just to cancel everything if all rooms had that type of scent/feeling. For the price that we did end up getting, (under ninety for a Fri night) it was a solid 2.5 start place. The room comes with a full sized Fridge, stove, microwave, sink etc. The kitchen was well used you can tell, sticky around the outside of the microwave and stove. They give you all you need for those needing a kitchen setting in your room. August 7th, the front desk manager was nice and calm with all she was dealing with that day. With the smell and dampness of the rooms with the wrinkled sheets and stickiness of kitchen, I would not recommend if traveling with kids. Sad because it's a spacious room with a kitchen but not clean enough to feel comfortable walking bare foot in your own room.
