Hired Sunset Septic and Excavating to remove roots in tank, restore tank, and install new inlet baffle. After more septic issues we hired a different Septic company just to find out that the roots were not removed and the tank is collapsing within the year of service. Not sure how they would miss that or not clear all of the roots. I guess you have to watch them as they work. read more

This company is crooked. Had an issue with my septic. They come out acting all nice. They come back again saying they stick with it till they figure it out. I did some research on my own and was told to change the floats. I called them and asked them to change the floats. They come out with boxes, spend two hours calling the manufacturer and then say they have the wrong floats. They charged me for the two hours after doing nothing and say the will order the floats and come out when they are in. I called days later and no answer. Called a couple days later and they tell me when the floats come in from distributor, they will call me but that I should get someone else to install them. For one set of floats you have to go in discharge tank to change them. They don't want to do it. If it's not easy money with east work, they don't want it. They will come out and charge you but work will not get done. So, I called the company they supposedly ordered the parts thru and you guessed it, parts never ordered. Long story short, stay away from this company. Don't even think about calling them, no matter how dire your situation is. ​ read more

Scam artists. We are selling a home and knew our septic field probably needed to be repaired or replaced. The prospective buyer hired Sunset to do an inspection. The buyer's family knew them or has worked with them in the past. They showed up late, inspected the system, and failed it, but did not tell me they were going to fail it and also turned around and reported the system as failed to the county health department without mentioning that they were going to do that. Turns out that not only are they not required to report that (currently, as the ordinance has changed), the owner is the chairman of the board for the septic association and he's buddies with the health department. Suddenly I was served with a violation and order to comply with a new system installation. Then the buyers put in their inspection response that we would be required to use Sunset and no other service for the installation. After talking with several other septic companies, I'm finding out that Sunset is not only one of the most expensive, as other reviewers have said, other septic companies have repeatedly had to clean up their "jobs" after Sunset failed to deliver or did a bad install. practicesWonderful combination of terrible business practice and corrupt dealings with local government. read more

Did not do what he said he was going to do regarding the regrade in my yard. No estimate when asked for one, just showed up and billed me $600 for tearing up my yard and breaking my septic cover. Wouldn't return calls. Secretary was rude. When I called for the 6th time and finally said I had him on camera he showed up a half an hour later wanting more work. Job wasn't finished. Left me with leaking pipes inside my basement and a bubbling sink. Wouldn't return my phone calls. Poor customer service. On the positive side, they did great work on my septic lines outside, which is why they get 2 stars instead of 1. read more
