We are so grateful for Dr. An and his team for taking such good care of our kitten, Maui, today. As a new foster parent, our 3-week old kitten has been battling stomach issues, diarrhea, an inflamed bottom and non-stop crying. We had gone to a Vet ER prior to bringing our kitten to Sunset Veterinary. The Vet ER visit did not help much at all as they did not provide options for us to help with his pain, other than doing a series of tests as we waited for over two hours. When we arrived at Sunset Vet, the office was clean, warm and welcoming! Dr. An was very knowledgeable and kind, explaining in detail the stages of growth for kittens, his diagnosis and provided the utmost attention in examination. The entire team was so sweet, quick in examining and provided clear directions on how to administer the needed antibiotics provided for Maui. We used to take our dogs to Dr. An all the way in Alhambra, but after he moved to a different clinic, we settled for Banfield hospital as the closest option to us in Diamond Bar. The difference in quality of care was night and day, but we didn't have many options and had no major medical needs. Years later the same now-senior dog needed some emergency care, and in a moment of desperation I called Dr. An's old clinics to try to track him down, and by pure chance found that he recently opened a clinic here in DB! He not only remembered our pup but made time to see her within the hour, and he gave us way more attention and information than we had been receiving elsewhere. Most importantly it is obvious that he AND his staff truly care about our beloved pets, which gives me the peace of mind that I can trust that his advice and care is 100% in the best interest of our dog, which is why I sought him out when it really mattered. We unfortunately had to make a some-what urgent visit to Sunset Vet Center yesterday due to our pup having some stomach problems but Dr. An and his entire staff made the experience super pleasant. They were able to squeeze us in even though they were fully booked and everyone there was extremely friendly and helpful, even with me asking them to repeat everything 2-3 times. They also followed up by phone today to check on our little guy and let us know that they are there for us. I'm so glad to have found an awesome vet so close to home! We followed Dr. An to his new clinic after wonderful experiences with him prior. He helped us through the process of both our senior dogs' illnesses and eventual passing. He is tireless and deeply caring, checking in with us weekends, and nights, as things got tougher with our old pups. When we were ready and added new puppies to our family, we knew we had to bring them to his brand-new clinic. The staff is incredibly kind and patient. My cat had a runny nose for over two years. I took him to other vets, and they offered various treatments at a high cost with not enough helpful information. Sunset Veterinary allowed me to choose the best treatment option for my cat. They were attentive and ran tests so that I received an exact diagnosis for my cat. Even before the tests returned, the doctor put my cat on an antibiotic to ease his respiratory symptoms. He is now free from his respiratory illness. What a relief to see that he is cured! Today I decided to give this office a try since my regular veterinarian is booked till the end of December. My friend had just visited their office a couple days before and she had nothing but positive things to say. This is by far the best experience I've had at a vets office. Dr.An was patient, thorough and a great listener. He offered me a few new options for my dog with severe skin issues to try which is rare because I've tried almost everything under the sun. He was also kind, patient and gentle with my senior dog who is extremely boisterous with strangers. Bonus is how reasonably priced they are. I felt no pressure in getting additional services for my pets, and paid what I felt was more than fair for what I got. The rest of the staff was extremely friendly and great with my pets as well. I called in a panic this morning because my doggy (Lion) was peeing blood and I was so happy that Kelcy was super friendly, sweet, and let us in the schedule to be seen when I called. The facility is really new and modern, everyone's very friendly, and Dr. An spent a lot of time carefully examining Lion being very mindful of Lion's anxiety. He also took his time to explain a lot of possible options for Lion's treatment. I was referred to this vet after Toby, my 2.5 year old toy poodle was released from the emergency hospital following a very tough weekend where he suffered a high fever, diarrhea and low platelet count. Essentially he needed further blood tests to monitor his platelet count/rule out possible complications to his immune system, and I'm more than grateful to have found this vet. Dr. An was extremely compassionate and thorough in walking me through the possible ways Toby's symptoms could play out. He was detailed in presenting all possible options to treat Toby, the pros and cons of each, and he was professional in offering his recommendation but never pressuring me to act one way or another. He patiently answered every question I had, and was just all around a great vet to turn to, especially in emotional/unpredictable situations like the one I had with my dog. The staff (forgive me I forgot names) overall also treated my little bud with lots of compassion and care, and for that I'm very appreciative! First off I want to say how nice the staff was and how helpful they were. Took my new puppy to get his first dose of shots and Dr. An was so welcoming and took time to answer all my questions. The facility has 3 exam rooms and one huge treatment center for the animals. The parking lot is huge so you won't have a hard time finding parking. Hands down the BEST veterinarian I've ever met in my entire life. The staff is extremely welcoming and just so kind and accommodating. The facility is really clean and makes you feel at home. My dog Dakota has been coughing ( i stayed up from 1245am-415am anxiety level 1000 ) with her heart condition you just never know. He was so knowledgeable, detailed, compassionate and patient, explained every single symptom to me even when I asked 50 questions. I feel like a boulder has been lifted off my chest. Dr. An answered some questions I had about my dog's ear and prescribed ear medication, with tips on how best to apply it to my dog's ears. Staff was super friendly and professional. The nurse is knowledgeable and is gentle with my Siberian Husky. She explained all the services they were providing for us at the appointment and gave a price breakdown prior to providing the service (i.e. vaccinations). Dr. Phil An is a wonderful vet who takes the time to ask all necessary questions, and doesn't rush through the consultation. I just took in 2 feral kittens that were birthed at my brother-in-laws backyard. We took them in at about 12 weeks and have been settling into our home for the past 3-4 weeks. I first went to Banfield in Walnut and they were unable to do the first exam or any vaccines as the kittens were too feral. They suggested sedation medication for my next visit since nothing was done on the day of my appointment. I then decided to check Yelp and other places that have high reviews in my area and I noticed Sunset's at the tops in my area. I made an appointment and decided to separate my kittens to see if it would be a better experience. I was able to sit in the room while my kitten was examined (at Banfield they just take them and I wouldn't see them until 6 hours later :( )and the nurses (vet techs) and vet were very nice and informative. I have not owned a cat before so they were very kind and respectful of my kitten's space and fear and were as sensitive as could be with them. They offered me advice for getting them used to their new home. I got first set of vaccines and flea treatment and the works required from a first time at the vet. Needless to say this was a great experience for me and hopefully not so stressful for my kitten. I definitely recommend this place and their staff. They are super nice and patient. I have already scheduled my first appointment for my other kitten to catch her up. read more

I absolutely love this place. The staff, the Doctors, every interaction with every individual. I have been here a few times before but the last visit I had a scare with my sweet 10 yr old Pippa. I had no idea what was going on with my dog I just knew she was extremely ill. I will be honest. I was a nervous wreck. They took Pippa in, I saw the care and concern they had as well. With their sense of urgency and compassion they drew up a plan immediately to care for her. The doctor ( Dr . An) was absolutely amazing and his professional expertise was spot on with a diagnosis, the tests confirmed the doctor was 100% right. Pippa was back on her feet in just a few days after some prescriptions and treatments provided in the office. Here's the thing, they didn't just take care of my pet. They saw Pippa as a patient and not just another task to complete. I feel like they also treated me as well. I don't know if I was in shock ? Pippa had literally thrown up blood on me on our way to the vet. They kept me informed on every step, their reassurance with their positive encouragement that she would be cared for. When you feel that vulnerable fearing the worst that would be an opportune time to take advantage of the situation. Never once did I feel pressured for treatment she didn't need. I knew watching how they handled everything that all recommended treatments were what she needed. Nothing more, nothing less. They called us a few times after her visit and in between her follow up to see if there was anything that changed, if I needed to bring her back , to see how she was doing. Sunset Veterinary in my opinion has perfect recipe for success and treatment mixed with love for animals, compassion, empathy, experience, expertise, and a very well run office. I should mention their office manager as well for running such a smooth operation. It is so hard to find a place these days with all of the qualities that make this place special. Dr. An and staff are all amazing. We just got a new puppy named Apollo and he had gotten two rounds of vaccines. Unfortunately after a week or so he started vomiting and having diarrhea. Dr. An recommended the parvo test and glad he did cause Apollo was positive. Before recommending hospitalization we got at home meds and care instructions to see if Apollo would get better. At first he did but about 2-3 days later his symptoms got worse and we took him to the recommended emergency hospital with 24hr care. The recommended hospital was also amazing in their care for Apollo and they had him hospitalized for a week where he finally got well enough to return home, thank you Dr. An. We just went back today to the vet office with Apollo for a checkup and to see how everything was going and the visit was free of charge! I can't emphasize how friendly everyone is and how supportive. We even got call backs on our messages after office hours. Just a great place and people! Thank you everyone!! read more

I brought my 2 yo Havashu here for the first time in October after I was not able to get an appointment with our regular vet for a follow up visit after my dog spent 3 days in the ER for an incident. Dr Ahn and his staff ran thorough tests and found my dog had pancreatitis. It was bittersweet to finally have a diagnosis for my dog's symptoms which I had taken my dog in for over a year and a half and spent thousands with his previous vet. Our previous vet never ran these tests, even though I would insist something was wrong with my dog. Dr. Ahn put him on a special diet and weeks later tests showed he was cleared and has not experienced any symptoms since! Called and spoke with Kelsey because my dog had developed a cough and she was beyond friendly, helpful, and caring when scheduling an appointment. Terry was the nurse who assisted us and he was so kind and thorough with his notes. Took the time to listen to every single concern and question I had so the information can be passed along to the Dr. Dr. An is an amazing vet! Such incredible bedside manner and took so much time to thoroughly explain in detail everything and answer the vast amount of questions I had without ever making me feel like I was a bother or being rushed. After every single treatment/recommendation he mentioned, he'd follow it up with letting me know the nurse will be in after to discuss the treatment plan being recommended/pricing and ensured I knew these were all solely recommendations and I was not pressured to opt in. After finishing the checkup and answering all of my questions, Dr. An stepped out and Terry returned shortly with an iPad that had a breakdown of every single item Dr. An had recommended and previously discussed with me. He ensured I knew there was absolutely no pressure and slowly went over each item with me; Any item I did not want to proceed with at the time was quickly removed from the treatment plan/invoice! The wknd passes, and on Monday we get a call from Carol who followed up to see how our dog was doing! Such a simple but extremely nice gesture that means so much to a concerned pet parent! If one should take a look at Doctor Philip An clientele, one would see the man has a following and it makes perfect sense. I am a follower. He has been my vet for close to 10 years. Vets often come with the neighborhood one lives in, sometime they are referred by friends. But the closer they are to your home will often dictate one's choice. Dr. An moved twice, each time a bit further away from me and twice I followed. I would have kept following if he kept moving, but I did draw the line at Alaska. Amazing vets, that's a very different story and when you find one, you don't let go. I have had cats for close to 25 years, I have seen many vets, some were good, some were bad, some were great.
