I personally go to many specialists. This practice is tops. When necessary you can easily leave a voicemail on the triage line with questions and concerns. They will actually respond, sometimes within minutes. If the doctor, isn't available they will call to even let you know that. My specialists have been successful at receiving what they need without exception. My health situation is considered complex but they accept me as I am. I am so blessed to be able to be treated at this practice.

They tried to coerce me into undergoing a repeat visit and procedures because of their staff turnover. They told me they would have the office manager return my call to discuss the situation within 30 minutes. Two weeks later and a worsening of my symptoms... still no call. They have ZERO concern for patient well being. I expressed my increased concern for my safety, something they shared during my last visit when they pushed an epi-pen on me but now they seem to be flippant about my health. They have their own sleep lab on the first story of this hidden two story building off of Belcher just north of NE Coachman. After all the formalities were observed with a rather extensive team of medical and office types here, I was prescribed the appropriate sleep equipment and so on. I don't like that I have to use the stuff, but since I must, I can't think of a better MD to deal with than Frank Averill. He's a bit eccentric but he is also a very good and well seasoned pulmonologist. He's assembled a good bunch of folks (and it is quite a big number in the team) to work here. As you can imagine, this practice is quite busy and thriving...I wouldn't expect you'd fare well here if you're in dire need of quick service though. As most specialists go, he books out well in advance. As is also the case with specialist types, forget about the clock when you finally DO get here. Pack a lunch or a snack instead! Nice office with a clean but homey look to it also. Sleep lab is also quite nice as I recall as well. One odd bit of information. The doctor's wife also has a big hand in this place and helps run the show. She is a devout Catholic and that is obvious in every nook and cranny of the office. Lots of religious statues, pictures and the like in the second floor office and downstairs in the lobby. Off to the right of the entrance downstairs is a full blown chapel as well...I must tell you that the formal name of the practice is St Francis Medical Institute. So the chapel and much of the "decor," for lack of a better word, is Franciscan. It really has no bearing on the level or kind of care that one should expect, of course. It's a simple observation for the sake of passing along information to the prospective patient reading this review... That said, Dr Averill is board certified in four different specialties according to the information gleaned from my visits here. Allergies, immunology, sleep disorders, pulmonology plus all the clinical research kinda makes this practice one stop shopping for many people who have breathing battles of sundry sorts....

I've been going here for over a year now. When I went the first time I had severe asthma and…read moreinhalers from my primary doctor were not helping. They got me squared away THAT DAY. Asthma attacks thereafter were treated that day and a solution was identified to prevent future attacks. I feel my asthma is now very well managed and doesn't affect my life like it did. I almost gave this place 1 star!…read more Horrible and incompetent staff. The receptionist messed up the date of my visit and scheduled it 20 days from the date she told me over the phone. When I showed up for the appointment that I made the day before, the receptionist told me I did not have an appointment. She did not take the time to look to see if by any chance an appointment was available that day. I was pretty upset as I left work to make the visit and asked her to look too see if the appointment that the receptionist saw the day before was available. It turns out they did have an appointment open at the time the appointment was communicated to me. She was not even going to look to see if anything was available at that time... Then I saw the doctor. He was caring and concerned. He listened attentively to all of my symptoms, wrote all of them down, did not rush and carful explained the next steps. I give him 5 stars, staff 0 stars if that was feasible.
