I went in with a tube and wheel issue. They took pains to figure out what was going on, and worked hard to fix it. They also told me they had a good tube warranty, and to keep my receipt in case I had a problem. I didn't show up with a $5000 bike, but they treated it like it was important. I like that. Mechanics either shout from the back a warm "welcome" or you're greeted by someone in the main shop area. The people are kind, respectful, honest, and smart- what more could you ask for in a bike shop? Since my first purchase, I've bought 3 bikes, one I traded in to buy a nicer bike. The people who own and work the shop are super cool and are the type of people you can feel comfortable with asking any questions. I've purchased 3 mountain bikes from here over the last 2 years, and wouldn't purchase a bike anywhere else. My first mountain bike was a Trek Marlin that I decided to buy from A&B Cycle ~3 years ago whenever I wanted to get into the hobby initially. It felt like I was dealing with salesmen at a car lot, just trying to get a sale off me as quickly as possible and out the door. They didn't tune the bike to my fitment. They tried selling me extra unnecessary items. Scratched the crap out of my black car trying to help me install the bike rack that I told them I could do. Overall, was an unimpressive experience. They also had failed to mention the limits of the Marlin, so not only had I had a bad experience at the A&B Cycle, I also came out of Sac River in so much pain after just one run and without having all that much fun. A year after that, I decided to get a full suspension and spend a bit more money, along with trying a different place. I visited Sunshine Bikeshop where I talked with them about my issues with ABCycle, my issues with my Marlin, and asked for advice. Instead of trying to sell me the highest end mountain bike, or tell me I'd be fine with the lowest end due to my "lack of skill" and boot me out the door, they sent me home with a Giant Stance. I don't think the Stance could've fit my skill level and price range better than it did. I rode the Stance at Sac and Two Rivers every time since. During the purchase, they helped with tuning the suspension to my weight, and adjusting the dropper post to my height (never realized how important these are to tune). They didn't try pushing unnecessary upgrades. They weren't crowding me about making sales. Overall, they made it a very pleasurable experience which kept me coming back. I returned a few months later looking to purchase a decent hard tail (anything better than the Marlin). They were having a sale on a Salsa Timberjack at the time, which I decided to purchase after explaining my skill set and needs/preferences to them. Absolutely love the Timberjack still, and they were again extremely nice and helpful. Just a few days ago I decided to search for a mountain bike that could handle my more confident riding style downhill. And although mountain bikes are hard to come by now, they managed to have a carbon Santa Cruz that fit me just perfectly. During the purchasing phase, I had a bit better idea for my riding needs. So, I asked about wider tires, higher dropper post, and some better pedals out the door. I came back the next day to find one of the mechanics had preinstalled some tires of my liking just for fun, and it just completed the sale for me. He had also installed a 200mm dropper for me that day, along with pedals. We then tuned the bike, made some proper adjustments, and had me out the door within a couple hours! Went to Two Rivers the next day, and I don't think we could've customized a better bike out the door for my dimensions/confidence!! These guys will work with your every need and get you out the door feeling satisfied that you visited. The owner is insanely nice, willing to work with you however he can. They don't push for the most expensive items, but rather what they've had the best personal experience with. Heck, they even wave at you whenever you see them at the parks and ask how the bike is holding up! read more

I passed through here while touring with a friend. He was here with a serious bike issue but while here I decided to put on some new tires. This shop had a good collection of tires for all occasions. The shop had several employees and every one of them was extremely helpful. I asked for guidance on touring tires and got help immediately. Rather than trying to just sell some tires, I was given pro's and con's of each brand for my touring needs. The employee also tried to talk me out of buying new tires insisting I could get another 1000 mikes on them by rotating my present tires. My desire was to put on a new set so I could finish my ride to Oregon without any tire problems. He put on the new Michelin's and alleviated my worries about goat heads by putting slime in the tubes. This is a great bike shop and my friend and I left extremely satisfied! read more

I love Sunshine Bike Shop! The entire crew there is so nice! They really know how to provide great courteous customer service! David is my go to guy. He takes me very seriously and goes the extra mile. He has lots of experience in the bike world and I need that help. The owner, Josh is really nice and caring. He goes out of his way to be helpful. I have been searching for a couple of years for the right fit in a flat bar fitness bike. I have tried other brands and just couldn't get comfortable. Then I tried a LIV Alight 2. Bingo. Seems to be a great fit so far. Makes such a big difference when you can jump on and enjoy the geometry of the bike and not be fighting it. It says on the LIV website that they are designed by women for women. I believe it! The men's Giant Escape 2 was really enjoyable to ride in my size, but their sister company LIV really dialed in the comfort! So now my husband has a Giant and I have a LIV! Pretty excited . I feel they have a really nice selection of merchandise from not expensive to upper end. It is nice to have the freedom to pick and choose and not feel limited by lack of merchandise. I highly recommend Sunshine Bike Shop! Their are wonderful people and bike shops across our 4 state area. I have been to a lot of them and genuinely like them. So many times today, good customer service is hard to come by, but not here. I took my relatively new Schwinn in for a simple chain tune up and the technician was friendly, efficient, and precise. He not only checked on the chain but realigned the brakes and wheels as well, for barely any additional charge. I also bought new hand grips and he installed them for free. On my way Cycling across Missouri when I broke a spoke outside Springfield. Called Sunshine & they indicated that they would help me immediately which they did. Did not have a compatible spoke but fabricated one & sent me on my way, only to have another spoke break 3 miles out!! This is not uncommon...so back to Sunshine & same drill, then on my way to Pittsburg Kn, a century away with no further issues! Great work by Chris and his team. Oh...no charge for labor and they drove me to a restaurant for lunch. I'm a bicycle commuter who does most of my own bike maintenance. I take my bike in bike to a bike shop for an annual tune-up. This year I tried Sunshine Bike Shop, after being less than satisfied with the work performed by a couple other local shops I had tried previously. One of SBS's mechanics offered to do the tune-up while I waited. The work was done quickly and correctly, and the price was reasonable. I only give four stars instead of five because their location, while convenient for those who travel by car, is not very convenient for those of us who commute by bike. read more

A lifesaver. I was just north of Springfield, bicycling the Transamerica, when my front fork broke. OK, breaking a front fork is a story all by itself -- but I won't post it here on Yelp. What I will say is that Eric and the team at Sunshine Bike Shop (SBS) saved me. They called around to find a new fork (I needed 295-300mm -- which is not typical). They found a shop in town with the fork, we got it and SBS team installed it. While working the fork, they also gave my Merlin road bike a quick overhaul - truing a wheel, adjusting a front detailer slightly, and more. In a half a day I had a working bike back. They bike was in better shape than before the fork broke. Normally, this would end a great review. But when I checked out, Eric mentioned that repairs for "tourists" have no-fee labor. I had never heard of that, and actually felt a bit bad that they did all the work for no charge (other than parts). So, I browsed the store and bought some accessories for the next 1,400 miles to Virginia. I wish Eric and SBS would relocate to my home town, Charlottesville, VA. A bike shop like SBS would be a joy, and a huge commercial success once word got around. SBS's service and great attitude would put other bike shops out of business. This review was unsolicited. It's also the strongest review I've ever given a bike shop (and I'm nearly 3,000 miles across the USA on this ride alone). Thanks Eric and SBS team! read more

Excellent service! I have been here twice getting my old school (1980's) Schwinn bike "worked on". Most recently I had them resize the bike to me so I do a Tri. They put me on a trainer and took time to make sure that it was just perfect. They were very personable, knowledgeable, and professional. The cost was very reasonable to get the bike "worked on". And they had some great sales going on. I would recommend this place for the friendly, knowledgable, and down to earth staff. read more

The work they do is sketchy at best you will want to check their work before you leave or pay make them fix what they did wrong other wise you will be paying extra at another bike shop to fix what they did wrong. I bought rim tape from them it was to short I returned it and the guy put it back on the shelf after I told him it was to short and had put it on my wheel. you will be better off going to another shop don't even think about going to this one even if another is out of your way. read more
