OK I know it's kinda like a NY City convenient store vibey place. I mean it's a neighborhood store owned and run by a couple friendly and outgoing Middle eastern guys...It carries everything From Monster energy drinks to "tabacco" smoking products. You can pay your utilities there for a buck. And they carry some cool Frisbee Golf supplies! Very nice guys! read more

First and foremost, ANY negative reviews are disinformation and false. ("eye-sore, shootings fights people doing public indecency in the open," and that it is dimly lit and suggestions that the grounds are dirty. The regular patronage of this business is wonderful, because this store is wonderful - I've been a customer for 16 years, and the neighborhood it is in has VERY LOW crime statistics.. FYI This store also does not sell alcohol, nor does any store even near Westgate does. Someone sweeps the entire grounds of Westgate several times per day and Sunshine Mart is always clean, storefront and inside. It is well kept, has the most superb prices and customer service of any convenience store in Joliet, BAR NONE. The staff is fantastic - they go above and beyond to serve you with kindness, and to meet your needs, be it ordering something that they don't stock for you or any kind of assistance you may need. The ENTIRE staff are jovial, kind, and extremely helpful, whether you're a first time customer or a regular for years. With the additive of FRESH sandwiches, and other deli delights like homemade pizza and non-canned from scratch chicken salad, and homemade tuna-salad etc; all at reasonable prices. Sometimes they even have garden fresh ingredients in the sandwiches such as tomatoes, etc. Mon - Fri you can custom order a sandwich, down to the ingredients, seasonings, condiments, the type of bread, a sub or a club, etc. Delicious, large, and very inexpensive at 3.99! or a little more for a 12" sub. Pizza is homemade and also good. I've bought things here that are higher at Wal-mart. No exaggeration Of course not the bulk of their items are priced lower than big-box stores, but this is no average neighborhood corner-store - this is like stepping 30 years in the past, to the way things should be. You can also order deli meat, cheese, etc. for yourself at comparable prices to Jewel / Kroger / Wal-Mart. THEY HAVE THE CHEAPEST TOBACCO AND TOBACCO PRODUCTS IN TOWN. I have heard so many people swear by where they go having the cheapest cigarettes. I bring them here and they are floored. They do sell a small amount of legal merchandise for marijuana use, but nothing else like crack/cocaine gear usually found at corner-stores. The beverages, chips/snacks and candy are a little high, but not compared to other convenience stores like 7-11, the Western Store, Walgreens, CVS (OMG!) and even Family Dollar and Dollar General. They also have name brand 2-liter soda pops for .99 to 1.19. I cannot say enough good things about it! BTW they also have lotto, bill-paying (utilities) services, and one of the employees owns the cellular phone store next door which you can also pay your bill for multiple carriers or get a wide range of phones and plans, from good valued basic on up. Golden Dragon is one of the tenants as well, with mediocre American-Chinese at reasonable prices. Sunshine is family owned and operated. Please support your local small businesses! read more

The owners are super nice to me. Been coming here since I was a little girl for quick groceries or when I'm craving some trolli gummies. It's not the cleanest but what part of Joliet is ? Haha. It's great for being a convenience store. And about the shooting. It had nothing to do with this place. It was a fight that ended in bullets down the street. read more
