It pains me to write this review but the reality is the quality of service at Sunshine Foot Relax has deteriorated significantly over the past 12-18 months.... My wife and I started going here in 2021 on an almost weekly basis with nothing but good experiences -- reasonably priced and high quality massages. Due to significant staff turnover (and the departure of their two best masseuses, Peter and Amy), the quality has deteriorated to the point where we refuse to go anymore, even though it's by far the most convenient location (2 blocks from our house). Sadly, we had a few too many terrible massages from chain-smoking men who speak no English. Perhaps there are capable staff, but we haven't seen them. I suggest you go somewhere else. read more

Wendy was my massage therapist and she was AMAZING! I know footspas can be hit or miss (and I've had some not so great experiences), but this was probably my best experience ever at a footspa. I'm so relaxed and in a way better mood than I was when I walked in to the spa. I paid for a combo 60min massage with a 30 min scalp massage added on and I loved the minty oil she used. Wendy didn't use excessive elbows, nor did she tap really hard. Also sometimes footspas can be loud since you're in a big room, but everyone was quiet, professional, and there were no interruptions. All up it was about $80 and I tipped $20 in cash. If I had more cash on me I would've tipped $30. I'll be back again for sure and will make sure to ask for Wendy again read more

It was a little startling the first time we visited because we didn't realize that everyone is in one big room together unless you book a private room. And they speak very little english so also be prepared for that. But the staff have all been very warm and friendly to us. The inside is very clean and quiet, and the staff do a great job on the massages! This last time my partner and I each booked a table massage, which meant that we got a shared private room split by a curtain. That was perfect for us and very relaxing for an awesome price. I read the negative reviews about tipping and I don't really know what to say about that except it hasn't been our experience! -- updating my review -- I became a regular after I posted my first review, and loved this place until about a month ago. I asked for the same guy for over a dozen times. I'm not sure if he had a bad day or what? All of the sudden, one day, he started to touch me in places, like my side boob which was not appropriate. It's normal for him to roll up my shirt when he gives me a back massage. On the day he was "inappropriately intimate," he actually touched my boobs while he pretended to roll my shirt down. I gave him dirty looks the he said "I'm sorry" like 5 times to me in broken English, so it was intentional and he was aware. I felt really gross leaving the place and I haven't been back there since. The massage itself was a 3, but the experience was a 1. They force you into paying more and tipping an amount which they set. If you don't tip or don't tip an amount they have pre-set in their mind (which they don't tell you in advance), they sometimes will physically block you from leaving. I've also seen one of the male employees yell at one of the female employee pretty loud/aggressively just openly (not even trying to be private) while other people are getting massages. It isn't exactly relaxing... Also, there is a stale/mildew smell in the air, which sometimes is also mixed with cigarette smell when the one guy comes in from smoking outside. It's a pretty shady, dishonest place, but if I have a major knot or cramp in my foot and need a quick cheap remedy, I might go.... otherwise, never again. read more

I've been a loyal customer at this place and ALWAYS left generous tips (~35% tip), and the masseuse, Amy, recognizes me every time I walk into the shop. I always track my time to make sure I'm getting the full 1-hour massage. Today, I received about a 52min massage. I didn't say anything about this (since they can't really speak English). Because of this, I didn't give my normal 35% tip but gave about 15% tip this time. The lady was super angry with me and started saying things back at me in Chinese. I pulled out my cash and gave 15% more tips to calm the situation. She seemed satisfied once the cash was in her hand. I'm traumatized by this experience and will not go back. Raise the price on the menu if a 15% tip is not acceptable!! Tip is tip; you get based on your service. Do not be rude to your customers even if you received no tip. I REALLY wanted to like this place but I was solely disappointed. When I arrived there was a couple checking out. Two employees were standing behind the desk. One of the staff was pointing to the bill and saying something in a foreign language. They did not speak English and I could tell that the customers were trying to understand. Not one of the four involved appeared to be very happy. The customers then left and I went in for my massage. I requested one of the "introductory packages" listed in their tri-fold flyer. This special was not on the laminated menu on the top of the counter. The staff called someone who spoke English and I communicated to the person on the phone that this is what I wanted. The person on the phone then communicated this information to the masseuse. The massage was good. I went to pay and I gave a 20% tip. It was easy to see that the masseuse who was checking me out did NOT like the amount of the tip. He wrote on a piece of paper the amount he wanted for a tip. He kept pointing to the full price of the massage I received and then to the number he had written on the piece of paper. He was clearly not happy and kept pounding the counter top with his finder. I guess he expected to be tipped based on the full price of the massage. Based on a quick calculation, the amount of my tip represented a 17% tip for the full-price massage. I have always believed that a 15% - 20% tip was fair. I was confused, frustrated, and embarrassed to even be having this interaction. I then realized that this is what occurred with the previous couple who were checking out as I was arriving. I really wanted to begin frequenting this establishment regularly. I experienced combo for an hour in this massage, First of all, the biggest disadvantage is that communication is very difficult. The masseurs and managers of this store lack English communication skills. They have no way to understand my questions and requests, especially when I express that I need to reduce the pain on my neck and shoulders. When I was struggling, she didn't understand. I repeated it several times before she relieved the pressure, which caused some pain in my neck and shoulders. When I expressed my request, she seemed to ask the staff next to me and Manager, but she didn't seem to understand my request. Secondly, I think the massage technician lacks professional training and techniques, because it is difficult for me to feel professional traditional massage points and massage techniques when massaging my body. Her massage technique is too simple, she seems to only know how to press hard on my body parts, through her elbows and forearms, I think this is unprofessional, this is not the massage I want. The good thing is that the price is really cheap, but to be honest, I don't think the service here can be called a satisfying massage even though the price is so cheap, so I was disappointed even though I still tipped her 20% , but that's just out of my respect for her not satisfaction with the service. I just recently discovered the value of these Foot Massage places. They do so much more than massage your feet and they are 1/3 the price of a LMP. If you want a good deep tissue massage, do the 30 minute foot and 30 minute table massage. This is not a relaxation massage so don't expect it to feel good the whole time. That being said, it should provide relief after the fact. I was waking up every day sore and in pain and after getting a massage last night, woke up this morning feeling normal for the first time in a long time.
