I never hold that against any restaurant just thought I'd mention it for us unfortunate folks that can't have Gluten. When we arrived and explained the situation, the front desk and management showed little to no compassion and were extremely defensive instead of trying to help us find a solution. We understood the mistake was ours, but the lack of empathy and poor customer service made the situation much worse. We were forced to pay for another room that same night, and the way everything was handled left a terrible impression on our entire family. Unfortunately, this experience has completely discouraged us from staying with this hotel brand again.

I was moved to Room 405 and found bugs around the toilet within one minute. I provided both photos and video, yet management brushed me off and treated me as though I were exaggerating or making it up. I had to go through my things multiple times to check for bugs in the hallway. Cried in the lobby for a while, out of exhaustion and frustration after the second room was also infested. I had worked all day and came home late. This was a nightmare. Their handling of the billing was just as incompetent. They charged the wrong card and somehow lost the correct card information I provided to them twice. Instead of taking responsibility, management minimized what happened and made an already exhausting situation even worse. Two bug-filled rooms, poor cleanliness, dismissive management, and repeated billing mistakes are not minor inconveniences. They are a complete failure of basic hospitality. I would never stay here again and strongly recommend choosing another hotel.

But we began to pretend it was ocean waves, and the noise got to be quite enjoyable. The smaller planes became interesting to watch as we laid beside the pool, and we saw the drawbridge open for boats to pass through this Venice inlet. The innkeeper gave us a quick tour to find the strangely placed (hidden) light switches in Room 10, and was quite friendly. My husband enjoyed a dip in the pool, we were the only ones there in mid-November. The room itself was comfortably organized although we can tell the space is quite old. She had to teach us how to turn on the shower by forcibly pulling a knob, we found this to quirky charm!

They have a mini golf course and right across the way by the channel, there's a nice walking path. If you're hungry, the Salty Dog is within walking distance.

It's a straight shot, maybe 10 min walk if that to the beach. Walk the other way, you're minutes from the restaurants and shops. We were able to go Caspersen Beach and Blind Pass at Manasota Key easily. Short drives. We drove an hour to Sanibel too. We will definitely stay there again. They had beach sifters for shark teeth, all kinds of beach things you can borrow. Chairs, umbrellas, even bicycles. We love the location and how quaint it is.

Not only was the keypad broken, but the door had tape over the locking mechanism thereby leaving the door unlocked 24 hours. The front desk clerk reassured us that no one came in other than guests. However, there was a man in a hooded sweatshirt outside the door smoking marijuana. The interior of the room was fairly clean but a bit shabby. The mini fridge was missing the freezer door, had a crack in the bottom, and a spot of rust outside. The bedside table had a leg that looked like a dog chewed it. The window was too dirty to see out. The shower had great water pressure with abundant hot water. The unlocked exterior door became a serious problem on the second night when rain apparently forced the marijuana smoker to move inside the building. Due to the large gaps around the door, we ended up stuffing towels under the door to stop the pungent smoke since I'm allergic to marijuana. The breakfast was fairly good. Scrambled eggs and bacon on the first day and cheese omelets and sausage the next. Waffles, yogurt, cereals, and pastries as well. My husband said the coffee was bitter but they also had Lipton Tea. Both days the breakfast attendants were friendly and constantly cleaning and refreshing the area. When we checked out I spoke with the front desk clerk about the door and marijuana. She stated the "shield " was supposed to be removed at night to make the door lock. Final recommendation- all of the staff we interacted with were amazing and professional. However, the building maintenance means we will find another location next time.

The mini frig/freezer was oversized so I was able to store all my waters, protein drinks and fruit. We were very impressed with the daily complementary breakfast. They put out a generous spread . Gary works so hard to make sure all the quests are very satisfied. Joe and I had wonderful conversations with Gary and breakfast quests each morning. Really appreciated you Gary and it was a pleasure to get to know you! You are such an asset to this establishment. I highly recommend Best Western!

The very first thing that happened was that we opened the sleep sofa, and saw the sheets were not clean. By not clean, I mean there were hairs on them, and a big urine stain. So disgusting. We took the sheets off (wished we had gloves) and went to the desk for clean ones. The clerk gave us one top sheet. NO. We need the bottom one too. I didn't take a photo, but I did take one of the stain on the mattress. The next thing was the worst. As I was sleeping, a cockroach was walking ON MY FACE. Yes, in my bed, on my face. Everyone woke up, and we chased it and finally killed it. He was HUGE. When we were checking out, we told the clerk. We asked for a refund and was told someone would call us back within 2 days. No one did, not that I expected it. The clerk said this is Florida, we have bugs, and I told him I have lived in Florida 24 years, and my husband does our pest control, and in 24 years I have seen maybe 10 bugs. Most of them dead. If proper pest control was happening, a roach wouldn't have been in my bed, on my face. It was traumatizing. He made light of it. There was a big rip in the screen on the bathroom window. The window had a crank to open and close, but it just spun around and didn't close. The bathroom had no A/C or fan and was ridiculously hot. The maid never left enough towels and every day we had to go to the desk. We are 3 people. She could see 3 beds were used. Can you count to 3!?? The fridge was kind of useless, as there were no bars on the door, so we could not utilize the shelves on the door. I had to wipe hair out of the fridge. The bathroom sink had nearly zero water pressure. There were spaces on the sides of the doors where bugs can get in, and also the ripped bathroom screen. They only offered 1 key for us. We were 3 occupants. The "lush" landscaping was stones with weeds growing out of them. Believe me when I say, you get what you pay for. We stayed 4 nights. If that cockroach was on my face the first night that would've been it for me. This motel needs major renovation, pest control, and the clerks need to learn proper customer service. No apologies for anything. No promised phone call. This was the worst place I've ever stayed in, in my 74 years of being alive, and I travel a lot. So BEWARE. I will report them to the Health Dept. when I'm done reviewing on this platform and also a few more. I did tell them I would, if we didn't get a refund, and I am true to my word, unlike them.
