Carlisle Inn is an absolutely wonderful Amish-owned modern hotel property with amazing staff and beautiful new and modern rooms. I decided to upgrade and get the Deluxe Room with Kitchen, and it was very spacious, clean, and extremely well decorated. It was so nice to have a full-sized kitchen and fridge in the room although we did not cook during our stay. The breakfast buffet included hot items like scrambled eggs as well as continental breakfast, and it was delicious. We asked for a late checkout and were granted the request as it gave us extra time on the beach our last day. The value for the price paid cannot be beat. It is the best deal in the area. Been here ONLY for a few business lunch and learns, with buffets. The staff is friendly The food is sold. My issue is they don't set up a good room. Everything I've gone, they pack way to many people in. They dont seem to understand walking flow, table positioning, safety, or comfort. The space they gave could be enough for the people they serve, but they clearly just don't understand geometry. Nothing worse than sitting on a room for a few hours crammed in, unable to really move and feeling like a sardine in a can. read more

There is a reason this hotel has 5 stars...actually many reasons. The Carlisle Inn is an affordable, clean, welcoming, comfortable hotel, run by the Amish community. It's location is close to downtown Sarasota, just about a 5 - 10 minute ride into a local neighborhood, which means it's also quiet. The hotel itself is set back from the main road, which also keeps any traffic noise away from the sleeping guests. Upon check-in we were greeted by the most friendly staff who took care of us swiftly and efficiently. We were so pleased with our room, quickly changed into bathing suits, and took a dip in the hot tub and pool. Our room was comfortable, with nice beds, good water pressure, and an unusual feature that proved to be a real blessing...a second sink in the closet. In the morning, we enjoyed the free breakfast in the cutest community room. I cannot recommend this hotel enough...it's a wonderful place! read more

Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff! We have always stayed in the deluxe 2 queen room with kitchen which suits our needs perfectly. Rooms are impeccable- clean and spacious. Excellent free breakfast with delicious homemade pastries longjohns from their bakery. Nice pool and fitness center. We ate dinner buffet at the Der Dutchman restaurant located next to hotel and enjoyed the extensive salad bar and bbq ribs. Always a great stay, especially with the staff who always go above! Its walking distance next door to this hotel. I have stayed at many franchise hotels and this hotel is not necessarily a franchise one. The hotel is welcoming and the structures are well maintained. That is what you look for in a hotel. Well structured and cleanliness. They offer treats from DER DUTCHMAN bakery just an example is free freshly baked cookies from 5-8pm at the dining area. That comes with free coffee and juices around that time slot. Free breakfast from 630-1030am I think .. and the offerings are fresh scrambled eggs which are delicious! Its tender soft eggs. Not overcooked. They also offer sausage links, yogurt, fruit cups. Pastries from DER DUTCHMAN BAKERY and make your own waffle bar. Cereal options. Coffee and OJ/Apple juice. The OJ tasted funny so I opted Apple Juice. This hotel is nearby shopping plazas for publix, L&L hawaiian bbq, Target etc. They offer coupons during your stay with dining at DER DUTCHMAN. The room offers keurig coffee and excellent coffee creamer pods. Only downfall to this hotel is the bathroom shower switch its hard to turn off to shut down water. Nice pool, so many places advertise and do not, have an adequate gym. All clean and sanitary. So a hint: You will get a better price booking online than going to hotel directly. Yes! The answer to wether you should stay here or not is YES! This place is amazing. Their rooms are really spacious (traveled with husband and two kids). The entire hotel is extremely clean and the staff is so nice. They really go above and beyond to make sure you have a nice stay. THEIR CINNAMON ROLLS ARE TO DIE FOR!! They are a must. Their Amish market is really quaint and they have great stuff. Again- TRY THE CINNAMON ROLLS! I really wish I had a picture to share but we ate them before I could take one. read more

I usually don't write reviews on Yelp for hotels. This is an exception because it's great. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The rooms are extremely large, clean and quiet. Their breakfast includes the best homemade baked goods you'll eat. The swimming pool is clean with plenty of towels. Although the hotel is not next to a major site, it is as centrally located as you can get for Sarasota. Everything of interest is less than 20 minutes from here. If you want a quality hotel for an incredibly reasonable price, this hotel is the place. read more

I have spent the last 30 minutes looking for a way to give a 6 star to my score for this hotel. Their service and hotel are great. Huge spaces, very clean and you can tell that the people who work there are happy to work there. I totally recommend this hotel. I really liked the bed, it was so comfortable and the whole place smelled so good. Their breakfast was good, they have eggs, sausage and waffles which for a lot us is enough to start a day. Brand new. Superb. IF, I wasn't told what hotel I was staying in, I may have guessed one of the more well known opulent hotels. Very well thought out and planned layout, decor and overall comfort & convince for quests. My photos speak for themselves. From the reception, to the dining room with fireplace and TVs, patio by the pool, to the lounge area, everything was well apppointed & comfortable. This hotel is in the hub of the city but is in a safe & quieter area. The room was HUGE, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was spacious and well appointed. I loved the seating area for dining. Great view of the pool. Docking station for electronics was convienient as was the Kerig. Ultra quiet. Asked for a late check out- no problem. Highly recommended. read more

The front desk will do all they can to keep you smiling. I came back to celebrate my anniversary with my husband after 29 years. I hAve to say, again, I am not at all disappointed. They greeted us early and let us check in because our room was ready. After two years, the place still looks brand new. Very clean and organized. You have to try this place out. It is amazing. This hotel is wonderful! There is no doubt that they are guest focused, you can tell that they really care about their guests and aim to make your experience feel like a home away from home. The design even, is homey, welcoming and well done. The staff is absolutely lovely, perhaps the friendliest hotel staff you'll meet! I love that they play classical Christian music in the lobby. For breakfast there is homemade granola, biscuits and pastries that they get from the bakery next store. Delicious. Also, there are fresh chocolate chip cookies everyday in the kitchen from 4-8p! The pool is so warm and the patio around the pool is luxurious. The gym is impressive and has everything you need to get a successful workout in. They're also constantly cleaning here. My one critique would be I wish the beds were comfortable. The mattresses do feel inexpensive. :/ read more

The Amish staff were friendly and helpful, and the room prices were very reasonable. Please note: there is no alcoholic consumption on the property - it is geared towards a family friendly atmosphere. There was so much room to get ready and great lighting! The night of the wedding my husband and I stayed in the presidential suite and it was incredible! Beautiful room/views. Clean and very well put together. The presidential suite has everything you need as far as plates, cups, refrigerator, freezer, toiletries, towels, etc...Also, let me not forget to mention that the breakfast at the hotel was very good as well. I would recommend this hotel to anybody! Connie at the front desk is the absolute sweetest, always so kind and helpful and Kim is very helpful with any questions you may have about your event or room blocks for your event. After reading the reviews here, we stopped at the Carlisle Inn on our way to Siesta Key. Planning to stay in a major chain hotel on Siesta Key beach, we stopped at the Carlisle as it was on the way. Wanting to see if the Carlisle was as clean as everyone says in their reviews, we walked around the premises checking out the dining room, pool area, & bathrooms. It was very clean so we didn't ask to see a room. The woman we spoke to at the front desk was friendly & helpful. Not booking a room we drove the 15 minutes from the Carlisle to Siesta Key Beach, we toured rooms at the outdated, worn, & stained hotel chains on the beach. We turned around & booked only one night at the Carlisle Inn as we wanted to check out another beach to stay at. Bekah, Rebecca & Connie were working the front desk. They are 3 of the best, friendly & helpful staff. While explaining how we read the reviews & checked out the other hotels, Connie upgraded us to a Suite. Thank you Connie!! After seeing our corner room suite we immediately went down & booked a 2nd night at the Carlisle! Nothing at the beach could beat this Inn & room. Not being on the beach was fine as the 15 min drive was easy & parking at Siesta Key Beach is free. Our corner king bed suite had a sofa with tables, full size: washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, stove, kitchen table, & chairs. The flat screen TV was hung on the wall across from the bed, which DH thought was too far for his liking, but fine for me as it could be seen in the sofa & bed areas. The bed was extremely comfortable, with a selection of pillows. No Wi-Fi connection in our Room but it was available in common areas. The dining area does not have a bar. It is set up for the continental buffet breakfast of eggs, sausage, biscuits, yogurts, fruit, waffles, coffee, tea, juice & cereal. The breakfast is included with your stay. If you're looking for a full breakfast, you can visit the Der Dutchman which you can walk to as it's in the parking lot of the Inn. The pool is not fancy as it's a standard type hotel/motel pool that was clean, warm & had a separate hot tub. We did enjoy using the pool. The hot tub & fire pit are next to the pool, but we never had the time to use them. Everyone from staff to guests were friendly. The Carlisle Inn was a great stay in Sarasota and we will return. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to greet us and ensure we had a good stay. The cleaning crew was always walking around (cleaning of course) and the continental breakfast was very good (staff claimed that the pastries were homemade from the Dutch restaurant next door and the eggs were farm fresh). Almost reluctantly I have to advise...believe the hype. If you're forced to go to Florida and can't avoid an overnight stay in the Sarasota area, the Carlisle is far and away the best choice anywhere near this price point. We agree with all comments about its cleanliness, spacious rooms and public areas, friendly staff, and above all, its quietness. During our stay a youth soccer team was here at the same time and you'd never have known except for meeting the kids in the elevator. Breakfast-wise Der Dutchman may or may not be your thing but it's really just a quick and easy 10 minutes to downtown and a myriad of dining choices and things to do. Speaking of, the property sits right next to the Legacy Trail, which is miles and miles of walking or biking through Sarasota County. Having tried many area options and found none worth mentioning, the Carlisle is our top recommendation if you absolutely have to go to Florida. read more
