We stayed here for a few days. The house keeping was nice and respectful. Came in daily to switch towels and that was it. And the bartenders are so sweet! The pool however was cloudy and had a tint so we didn't get to swim but the area around the pool was super cute and relaxing! Our room was good as we weren't in it much due to being out and exploring the area of Sarasota. It was clean enough inside, though they could probably wipe the walls down a bit more and the night stand side as it looked like something red running down it (hopefully it was pizza sauce and not blood!?) we wiped it and it came off somewhat easy but still there. Watch which reviews you listen to though as they ask friends and family on FB to basically drown out the reality of the posts! Everyone was nice, the place was nice and cute, it just could use some constructive feedback..

Cool, hipster, tiki hut vibes. Nailed the decor! I imagined myself teleporting to a tropical getaway. Only wish the bar was close to the pool which would have made it more convenient.

Mold in the AC. The rooms smells musty for a reason.

HEALTH HAZARD. AVOID. I have no idea how this place is business. All rooms are moldy and have no seal under the doors. The AC has mold and the corners on the floor there's mold. We got a refund and left asap.

Truth be told, we're not crazy about going to Florida. First there's the heat. Then there's the hurricanes. Also the seemingly disproportionate number of angry white guys who may also be drunk and carrying firearms. And then there's alligators. Florida can be scary. We need to be in Sarasota at least four times a year. And Golden Host is a safe, comfortable respite, conveniently located just minutes from the airport and just a few minutes from the downtown dining and arts scene of Sarasota.  We discovered it last year and just booked our fourth stay. It's a home away from home. If your home requires a vintage tiki bar. (Ours does.) Golden Host is on Tamiami Trail, but the fence and the savannah of palms combine to make it secluded and peaceful. And being right on Tamiami means we can get pretty much everywhere fast and easy. The rooms are mid-century retro and clean as a whistle. We really appreciate not having carpeted floors in a hotel because carpet is gross. The entire property is tremendously cool, but it's not so cool you feel like you have to be really cool yourself. The staff is wonderfully accomodating, and Carmen runs things with efficiency and warmth. Need an extra towel, and they'll be on it in a flash. We also love that we can text questions or feedback and get a fast response.  No breakfast on-site, but there are grocery stores nearby and good sized refrigerators in every room. Book direct to get the best price and coupon for a free cocktail to take the edge off your travel day. It really seems like Golden Host is focused on making everything as easy as possible for your stay in Sarasota. There's even a taco truck regularly doing business in the parking lot. So even if your beach plans are foiled by red tide, you could do your whole vacation right at the hotel and do just fine. Tacos, tiki bar, beautiful pool, and swaying palms. What else do you need?

THIS IS AN UNSAFE, UNRESPONSIVE, LOUD & DIRTY MOTEL. The two most basic things to look for in a hotel are whether it's clean & safe. The Golden Host in Sarasota Florida failed borth. I stayed overnight on 4/25/25. I first waited 20 minutes in an abandoned lobby before finally getting checked in. I honestly should have just left then as everything else was downhill from there. His excuse was that he was alone for the entire property and had other responsibilities and was working on laundry. I was next given a key to a room that actually HAD ANOTHER GUEST ALREADY INSIDE. I got into a brief altercation with the other guest after having walked into his room. Thank god I didn't get shot. Certainly Florida's castle doctrine would have justified it. Back at the front desk I was told that the property was sold out. I was then offered another room, somehow, to which I exclaimed that "I didn't feel safe" at the property anymore and would rather just find another hotel or sleep in my car. The associate refused to cancel my reservation and insisted that I accept another room. He wasn't apologetic in the least and didn't seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation he had just placed me in. I did ultimately accept the alternate room and requested that a manager contact me the next day. After literally retreating to my room to shelter in place it became immediately obvious to me that the hotel wasn't as advertised. The pool and adjacent tiki hut looked awesome, but I was in town so briefly that using it was impossible. The historic Bahi Hut was merely an open air bar situated in their parking lot. The room smelled of mold and had visible mold on the floor and walls of the shower. The laminate flooring was buckling and there was missing molding along the wall. Trash was already in my trash can. The mattress was poor quality and enveloped my body in an undesirable way. The air conditioner sounded like jet planes were flying overhead. The noise was so loud, sleeping was next to impossible. At one point I was convinced that actual airplanes were flying overhead and googled the airport to see how far away we were. The seals around my door had failed and I could see daylight the next morning. I could also smell the noxious odor of another guest smoking outside her room a few doors down. The smoke was actually coming into my room somehow. Not that any of this would have been acceptable, but the hotel was advertised as "completely restored and renovated in 2022" which I would absolutely dispute. There was no overnight security and the property seemed otherwise abandoned except for a few guests. I got a call from the management at 7:30 am the next day. If I wasn't an already pissed off guest I'm sure that getting a call at 7:30 am would do it. I hung up and followed up with Expedia later in the day. Expedia tried to contact the hotel on my behalf in order to seek a resolution. I was requesting a full refund but would have been happy with anything partial as long as it included a sincere apology from management. After 5 calls Expedia gave up and indicated that the property was unreachable. They emailed and left voicemails and days later still haven't heard back. After failing to get an answer through Expedia I decided to look up the hotel's general manager and ownership information. I contacted Katrina Swaney, the General Manager on her cell phone. She was busy and promised to return my call. Katrina never did call me back. After waiting a week for a reply I sent both Katrina and Parth Shaha, the property owner an email. My email provided some details about my experience and requested a full refund. The first reply Katrina sent she apologized for my experience and that she takes my concerns seriously. She also referred to my email as threatening and disrespectful. Ultimately her second reply declined to compensate me in any manner and I wholeheartedly feel that she failed to understand how thoroughly she and her entire team screwed up and almost got me killed. I travel regularly for work and over the past few years I've stayed at over 100 hotels throughout Florida for a night here or there. Clean & safe. Clean & safe. It's a low bar to set and represents the most basic needs of all other hotel guests. The Golden Host isn't clean. The Golden Host isn't safe. Management isn't responsible. Seriously, unless you're just dying to drink a Mai Tai in a tiki hut in some motel parking lot... find anywhere... literally ANYWHERE else to stay. Don't go here. Ever.

I spent the night here, as a way to avoid early morning travel on the way to an event. I found them on a 3rd party booking site, but know now if I book direct with them, they give you 25% off and a free drink at the oldest tiki bar in Florida! The company has an online check in policy as they are paperless, except for their paper car parking permits. Yosemite was awesome!!and in a 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon sort of way, we know people together! Anyway, he was really helpful and made sure I had a nice room. My only complaint was that it smelled musty and it was in need of a paint job, other than that, the bed was super comfy.nonw side has obviously been a favorite as it is more broken in and the other side is far firmer and I absolutely loved that. The pool area was stunning. Not currently open due to it being chilly. I suppose I could have braved temps, but I'm not that girl. The cabanas, the benches, it really was a paradise and there was a bar as well as a performance area. That's awesome. Live music was playing Bahi Hut, the tiki hut that has been around since 1954, and it sounded great from my balcony. This is an older, renovated property.it is the drive up style popularized in the 1950's and 60's. They have renovated it and embraced the kitsch and it works! I would certainly stay here again. Is it a 5 star hotel? No, did I care? No! I loved this place.

I am absolutely shocked at how this hotel has positive reviews. It is nothing other than a discount motel and health hazard with completely deceiving pictures, at a price that is WAY more than what it should be. As soon as we walked in the room, there was visible dirt and the smell of mildew/mold was overwhelming. It took us hours of back and forth with the manager to finally get a refund and get the heck out of there. I'm absolutely disgusted that this is even still in business. Please, spare yourselves and go somewhere else!!!!!

This is a ZERO STAR review. DO NOT NOT STAY HERE!! This hotel is ran by thieves. The rooms are not what they look like online. They are dirty and smell of smoke and mold. The whole site, photos, etc is false advertisement because it is no where near a resort feel or look. It is closer to a baits motel feel and look. Motel 6 are better than this place and Ive used port potties better then this place. Short story: My husband and I book a two night stay here in June from Friday to Sunday. When we got there the lobby is the only nice thing. We checked in and was given our 1st room the room dirty and smelled very bad (it was also next to the hut bar that was loud). After going back to the reception we were given another room in the back but it was the same issue. We were told that we were going to get a refund and never received it for a stay we did not do. I was discriminated against by the manger Carmen and threatened by some guy named Mark (may have been one of the owners). Taylor the so called front desk manger is was very rude. And then there is the lady who checked us in D. Felder(?) was very sweet and kind at check in but "she defiantly spoke out of her position when she said she was going to give us a refund and only a mange can make that mission" Carmon said. Unfortunately I can not leave the full story due to character max. but i did upload the full story via photos if you would like to know.

For generations, many of us have celebrated Mother's Day and Father's Day at this location. Especially after the hardships families endured following the recent hurricanes, it was heartbreaking to see such a beloved tradition suddenly removed and replaced with what felt like a far less luxurious alternative. What makes this even more surprising is that other Ritz-Carlton locations across Florida and beyond continue to offer their renowned holiday brunch buffets. Luxury resorts are expected to maintain the traditions and elevated experiences that guests return for year after year. The decision also reflects a larger decline in consistency at this location, including noticeable reductions in buffet quality and offerings during other holidays such as Easter. Loyal members and longtime guests have noticed these changes, and many are now choosing to celebrate elsewhere. We have supported this resort for over 20 years, bringing multiple generations of mothers, grandmothers, and families to celebrate special occasions. To remove such an iconic tradition with very little notice was deeply disappointing. We sincerely hope management reconsiders these decisions moving forward, because many loyal locals and longtime guests no longer feel this location reflects the luxury and five-star experience it once proudly represented. The other patrons and staff at the bar in the evenings commiserated as well about their experiences. I ran into a wonderful man, Hudson from Brazil, who is the project manager for the hotel and was observed working on finishing touches this week and working hard. Email me if you have any questions as I share the following review: At Check in - was not told about amenities or reward points system. MANAGEMENT has been scurrying about this week, agitated and trying to figure things out during the new ownership. The growing pains of transferring ownership are apparent and transferred to the hotel clients. Here are examples: SUSTAINABILITY: Every floor has a room with an ice machine, microwave and water/seltzer dispenser at the vending room temperature is 20 degrees hotter than the hallways. Every room has glass water bottles which you have to refill. I wonder how they clean these bottles? The neck is pretty tight. Great concept although not sure how sanitary. The front office manager screamed or spoke in a high tone to the staff looking for receipts - save it for a time when customers aren't around. OR talk softly to your staff in your office. BAR area: The POS System at the bar... not working & Limited wine selection. Evening lighting in the restaurant bar area - doesn't need to be full force. They preach energy efficiency and sustainability but don't practice it. Dim the lights! BILLING: Destination fees: not explained at the front desk, even if you dont use the shuttle, or the medites, you are charged AMENITIES: wading pool was closed, outside seating area was not accessible, the shuttle is by appointment (if you know about it), and the gym .. well just average hotel equipment. COFFEE: Is this coffee discrimination? not served or available in the lobby. They offer tea for free but you have to pay for coffee. The practice is inconsistent...One day, you get coffee in the lobby, one day in the staff office, one day the restaurant gives you a cup... and then suddenly you have to pay for it using a coffee machine located in the little shop. Staff aren't sure, and I asked and received different responses. Day 5 - they just started offering coffee in the lobby area, for a photo shoot only. Day 6 - you have to pay although if you are a Delta Airline worker, you get coffee for free. The restaurant response "let me look for some cups" one day. IN ROOM EXPERIENCE: The Mixpresso machines in room don't work 100% of the time, and pods are espresso pods. They have cute sipping cups which is all you get from the machine - a few sips worth. The clothes steamer works well in the room, the hair dryers are old and two died on me this week, the decorations are modern with wood like flooring. You don't get extra comforters, just the sheets and a blanket. Bathrooms are spacious. Bed is comfortable. Air conditioner / fan is loud. The rooms are vinyls wood and lift easily - they need to use better glue. They have carpet runners on both sides of the bed and weren't glued down straight, great concept, but when yo try to straighten them, the wood flooring comes undone. FRONT DESK STAFF: staff are not empowered, the response of "I don't know, I am new here, the staff called out and I cannot leave the front desk, or we don't have a shower cap or extra coffee pods or extra blankets", are just not customer service. On weekend the staff had her son playing on the computer at the desk. Adopt a "Get to Yes" culture here. HOUSEKEEPING staff: they apparently have two different groups, one that gathers towels and wipes down the room, and one that replenishes? The first few nights I did not get replenishment of cups or coffee pods, and was told that is not what I do.

Our las trip to Sarasota included a somewhat less-than-pleasant stay at an economy motel. I promised myself I would find something better - and luckily I did. Hotel Indigo is still a bit pricey, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for, and in the case of this locale - you get a lot. The building looks very nice from the outside, there's plenty of free parking (a plus in my book) to be had, and you are greeted by a beautiful lobby, well furnished and staff that are friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in. I will admit, we had some hiccups - I reserved a King Bed Room, non-smoking, and all they had to offer was a room with two Queen's - no big deal. I had the devil-of-a-time trying to get their small cappuccino machine in the room to work. They had someone come to the room and show me how to function it. Our keys stopped working after just a few hours - no problem, the front desk fixed it right away. I mention these as examples of the exemplary customer service we received - a breath of fresh air that I truly enjoyed. The rooms are very chicly furnished - you can get yourself complimentary water from a machine that offers not only cold water but hot, ambient, and sparkling - this was a treat. Checking was fast and easy, and checking out is as simple as dropping off your room cards at the front desk - no fuss. You really can't ask for more. We will be back to Sarasota in a month's time - this will be the place we stay without any hesitation, but certainly with a "reservation".

I would definitely stay again but I would be sure to price around because there are quite a few hotels in the area.

They have an onsite restaurant that serves food all day, a full bar, and a market on the lobby level. On the lower lobby, there is a nice sized gym, huge pool with slides, fire pits, bikes you can use, cornhole, and several conference rooms. There is a dock directly behind the hotel, which offers boat rentals as well. It's located near the Ribgling museum, and there are fireworks most nights. My balcony was such a fun spot to enjoy my drink and watch the show. 5 stars!

The other resort guests were respectful and just the right amount of chatty. The sun comes in the backside of the hotel so if you've ever turn your beach lounge chair around pointing towards the canal and the Ritz-Carlton, you can full sun all day. It's fun to watch the different boats who dock in this canal go in and out. Kyle at the front desk was very nice, explained everything we needed to know about using our day pass, and got us on our way. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the beach that's also included with the day pass, which was a nice benefit. There are towels located right before you go out to the pool area. A guest who was staying here also said you can fish right off the canal and go out on kayaks and paddle boards. The food and beverages were decent enough, and not ridiculously overpriced. The pool was a little chilly, but felt great when I needed a quick dip. Would consider staying here on vacation instead of just getting a day pass.

It's located in Sarasota's arts district, in close proximity of the city's best theater, arts, beaches and 10 minutes from the airport. The location was great were able to walk to restaurants, theaters, the farmers market, and parks. There is a full-service restaurant, spa, and a spectacular rooftop incorporating a large pool, ample deck space, lounge area with fire features, a bar and food services with views of Sarasota Bay that many say has the best sunsets in all of Florida. We stayed at the Westin in Sarasota for three nights. We valeted our car and tried to check in at 2:30. Maria at the front desk told us it would be a few minutes and we can sit in the lobby and wait. We opted to wear a bracelet and go up to the pretty rooftop. An hour later, we waited on the check in line again and were told that our room would not be ready until 4 o'clock. At 3:40 we received a text that our room was ready. Our Suite #1804 was impressive. We had a balcony overlooking the marina & city, a sitting area, a wet bar and a spacious bathroom. Our room was equipped with two large screen televisions, a Keurig at the wet bar, a king size signature heavenly bed, floor to ceiling windows with panoramic views, a safe, a desk, magnifying mirror ... The gym had cardio & strength training machines as well as free weights. Headphones, towels and water were provided. The 19th floor rooftop pool had lots of seating and a full bar restaurant. Our delicious complementary breakfast buffet was served in the lobby restaurant. We enjoyed a drink on the rooftop one evening and watch the sunset. The beautiful spa on 3 had availability for facials, manicures & massages. Shuttle service could take us to Lido Beach, Saint Armands Key, the airport or downtown.

The hotel is well maintained, comfortable and they did an excellent job handling the event. The meeting room, a/v and WiFi all worked well. The room itself was comfortable. We stayed in the Nook which is a one bed/one bath dog friendly unit. The property is absolutely beautiful! One of many favorites is the fact that they have made it convenient for their guests to use the floats in the pool. If you head to the beach they provide beach/pool towels in the unit but outside they have a section where you can borrow beach wagons, beach chairs, umbrellas, and those foam surf boards I can't think of the name. They also have balls, sand castle making kits and various outdoor games. There are also some bikes you can use! In the unit- NOTHING WAS MISSED! Towels galore, the kitchen fully stocked with utensils and anything you may need. The bathroom was absolutely gorgeous! The bed is super comfy, king sized. I absolutely loved the high-tech stuff such as the AC remotes being available separately in the living room and bedroom; the rooms also had remote controlled ceiling fan/light. Yes, you can find fancier places with more amenities, but Limetree delivers what is important for a safe family friendly gulf beach experience. Read on to learn why...... Staff: office, maintenance and housekeeping staff were exceptional. They were always welcoming and helpful while their workspaces were totally professional - organized, neat and tidy. Facility: Rental condos were exactly as described, stocked as promised and clean. FYI - Visitors in one unit (No 120) reportedly experienced a consistent humming from electrical systems adjacent. Also, the Internet was disrupted by the storm temporarily, but electricity and air conditioning were reliably constant. Washer/dryer units are available for no charge! During our stay, Hurricane Debby passed by, leaving about 17 inches of rain in one day with very gusty winds. Through the weather was dramatic, we never felt in danger. The building felt solid. Whew! We used the community gas grills, the shared PC, bought postcards, and generally enjoyed the same experience we've had over the years. Plenty of parking is available, and the activity center was refreshed where we played ping pong and reviewd books in the lending library. Site: The beach was substantially augmented with crushed shell/sand. It held up to the storm surge like nothing ever happened. Spectacular sunsets were a treat. We saw dolphins, pelicans, gulls, lots of wading birds including a rosette spoonbill! Entertainment: We loved the Tuesday evening one woman band. Beautiful versatile voice and musician - she had the kids, and some adults, up dancing at sunset. A magical treat! Value: For a family friendly, safe, clean on-the-beach experience- it was amazing! In summary - for the experience controlled/managed by the Limetree, the overall rating is a solid 5 (best). It's what we've come to expect after many years of visits. We hope they continue for our future generations. However - there were some non-controllable factors that downgraded our visitor experience. 1) Temporarily, construction noise from a new development. Swiveling tower cranes, clanging metal, banging, truck traffic immediately adjacent to the Limetree on the north side occurs during the day. We experienced noise from about 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This was not a surprise because Limetree staff informed us of the work. Yet we were grateful to be on the south side of the facility - a little further away. 2) Other people: We were surprised to hear late night (after closing) loud pool parties on several evenings. They stopped before midnight but still it was not expected. We were also disappointed to see people pitch camp (umbrellas, chairs, etc.) between our rented cabanas and the beach - which obstructed our water view. Apparently, there is a public beach strip between Limetree property and the waterline available to anyone. Thus, Limetree could not force them to move, yet, we are used to a Limetree community of kindness - not competition. Thus, the atmosphere at times seemed less friendly this trip. Like the uncontrollable weather, I don't allow these external issues affect the Limetree rating. We'll be back.

My aunt & uncle purchased pre- construction 2 units in the building next door, prior to Limetree became a time share & we stayed there every year. They also had a studio unit when Limetree opened but never used. Once Mom bought her unit we would transfer to that unit for our 2nd week. These units were for Mom, my sister, me & any grandchildren invited on that vacation. Basically girls only & kids which excluded my Dad, brothers, and later my sister's husband & mine. My Mom did purchase a week that was Memorial Day & rented this week as kids were still in school. However I got married on May 30th & Mom gave us the week. My husband had never been to Florida & thereafter we went every year & eventually using week 24 once Mom no longer wanted to go to Sarasota circa 2006 or so. My husband took a great interest in the turtles & took it upon himself to enforce no lights on the beach & early morning strolls & volunteering unofficially with conservationists by identifying new tracks & nests. He became known as " The Turtle Man of Lido Beach" by these conservationists & Limetree Resort. He learned a great deal & was advised to get certified as a volunteer but it was a 6 week course that due to the fact we lived & worked in Illinois & came to Florida for 2 weeks in June was not an option, plus really not necessary. This resort has truly been our home away from home with our annual Limetree friends , the beach, St. Armando Circle's favorite restaurants & stores , & a feeling that comes over me hearing & seeing the Gulf upon arrival that envelopes me, mind & spirit at peace, all concerns or troubles forgotten. There is no comparison to hotel stays as just another guest & Limetree's attention to providing amenities & supplies so you feel at home & as sense of belonging. Last year was the first year in more than 50 years I could not do my annual vacation to Sarasota due to a change in ownership to another family member of both weeks. Rest assured that Myrtle Beach does not hold a candle in any way to Lido Beach & will either rent or purchase a unit in June or August 2026 to ensure Limetree is the only destination for my vacation come what may.
