I Really like Sunshine Optometry and have been going there for years. Probably spent over 2K on new glasses with them over the last few years and my insurance paid them a lot also. I didn't want to write this review but the front desk doesn't listen. I was late for an appointment. The appointment was for 2:40. At around 2:48ish they called and left a message on my voice mail which said I was late but they could get me in at 3:00. I was parking at that moment in their lot and instead of calling back which would have slowed me down I walked into their waiting room only 3 or 4 minutes after they left the message on my phone saying they had a 3:00 for me well before that 3:00. The woman at the front desk said that they had given my 2:40 to another person. They had also given my 3:00 to another customer because the people at the front desk were not talking to one another so she did not know someone else had told me 3:00 was good. I said "not a problem, I will come another day". She said that since I had been late for an appointment in the past which they had forgiven I would need to pay them $40 to schedule another appointment. She said it in a way like it was to teach me a lesson? I spoke to her a few times about this and it was like she had turned off her listening. I said that I was there at least 5 minutes before the time they had switched me to. She said that internally they had bad communication about that (my fault?). I also said you gave both my times to other customers who paid you for both those times. So you are asking a long time customer that has paid you thousands of dollars to pay you for time you gave to someone else and were paid for so you could double bill the time? She wasn't listening. I gave them 2 stars instead of one because they are only going to charge me the $40 if I book another time. If I never go back to them they are letting it go. read more

Loud shout out to all the wonderful staff at Sunshine Optometry. I cannot recommend this practice enough. Everyone is friendly and professional from the moment you walk in the door until you leave. Both experienced Optometrists take the time to address all needs concerning vision and happily explain any questions or concerns.The level of customer service from the front line people (especially Kirstin) is very high where they anticipate the needs of their patients in a kind and knowledgeable way. I booked this appointment 6 months ago for my 6 year old daughter and I put it on my calendar that my appt. was today at 3:00 and the lady at the front said it was scheduled for 3:30 when I arrived at 2:45, she told me someone had an appt for 3:00 and if she doesn't show up before 3 they could take me but they purposefully wasted time to keep me waiting and I came with my 3 kids who I had just picked up from school and they were hungry and I informed the lady about the situation and she replied I would be next as soon as the lady was finished but behind my back she went and spoke to the doctor that was gonna see my daughter and told him to call a different patient other then my daughter so he left and called another patient and it was past my appointment time. When I confronted her about it she replied saying he had another appointment at 3:10 that I wasn't informed about and the doctor was there and said nothing so I got my refund and left. Nobody came and try to de-escalate the situation or apologize for my experience it was a complete waste of time. The doctor along with the staff here are very unprofessional. read more

Dr Alice Sun is amazing. I have dry eye disease (more than just normal dry eye). She was able to access the glands in the lids and show me how they were clogged or atrophied totally. She is doing treatments to at least unclog the glands that could have some functioning ability. She has carved out this specialty in the field. On top of the knowledge and ability she brings to this field, she is a really nice person. read more

I used Sunshine Optometry prior with getting glasses and I was very pleased with the customer service I had received at that time. The reviews were great. I decided to meet with Dr. Thornton and I am really glad that I did. I can say that I have met my new eye doctor. I really appreciate that he took his time to answer all my questions and continue to ask questions himself. I can tell he was very into his work and really enjoys helping his patients. Time for my annual eye check up. I love getting the call from he confirm the appointment. Once I arrived, everyone greeted me warmly and I immediately went in to do preliminary test. After test into the office to see if I knew my letters ;). Plenty of questions asked and answered. All went well. I cannot say enough about the staff and the doctor. After seeing 3 optometrist in the past 10 years, I finally found one that spends the time with me and answers all my questions and patiently waits to see if I have any other questions. Optometrist Daniel Sjolund is the best so far, and knowledgeable. Very kind and took time to consider my issues as all important. He answered all my questions and my concerns. The technician he passed me on to had such a great sense of humor and fun personality that she put me in such a good mood when I left. She took in my concern that I didn't want to pay too much and help me take full advantage of my VSP coverage. She also spent time with me without feeling rushed and addressed all my concerns just like the my new optometrist did. I enjoyed my exam there and the attention I received. The place is clean. Since I am a neat person, (I am sort of obsessive) I didn't see any dust sitting on the exam equipment's as I did at the other places that I was afraid of putting my chin or eyes near. If i can put -5 i would, my review is about the front desk not the Doctors. They charge you according to what you described on the phone when you take an appointment. They said "your insurance doesn't cover prescription" I replied well "i don't know if i need any" So i went and the dr. Said that i'm fine i just need eye drops. The whole thing was 3 min. And they charged over $100. Saying that it is my fault because i described my condition as an emergency prescription on the phone. So my point, they don't charge according to what they do, they charge according to what you describe on the phone. Horrible place read more

This business has been going downhill every year since it change hands and every year it's different employees and my last visit was my last . I had picked a set of glasses my wife didn't like . She works out of town so when she came home for Thanksgiving I had an idea ,I would take her to pick a pair she liked .So we went to Sunshine and I told them what we wanted to do and they said that seeing that my insurance wouldn't kick in till January that we could pick them out and they would hold them till January .We actually pick out two pairs of frames I had picked a rare set with a clip on and she had pick out a expensive set as well.We offered to leave a deposit and were told it was not necessary they would be in a box with my name on it and would be ready in January. Well January came I had my exam and they brought the box with my name on it and one pair of glasses where gone the ones that were rare were gone.Of course I ask where my glasses went and the optician calmly said "I sold them " ! I then ask why and she said " It's not like you paid for them" and I said but you were suppose to save them and she said " It's not our policy to save glasses and keeping in mind that she brought the box from the back with my name clearly written on it ! I left abruptly while she continued to dig her own hole by yelling and trying to lie her way out the mistake she had created . And that's when I discovered how expensive Sunshine is , the same glasses that they wanted $375.00 for the frames I found for $139.00 .So do your research and shop around . Bad customer service. An appt was made to have my daughters yearly eye check up. ( a year ago)The day before we were sent a text to confirm the appt, which I did. About 4 hours before the appt I get a text saying the time is no longer available. I called and they told me because I didn't answer there call the time was given away. Yet I had a text saying thanks for confirming see you tomorrow. When I called they said oh sorry the system does that if we try to get ahold of you and can't , even tho I had confirmed my appt. they didn't try to fit me in or find me another appt. just oh sorry. With that being said there's plenty of places to get eye exam and glasses so we will not be bringing our business back to this place again read more

They explained to me my insurance benefits and helped me understand the best possible options to utilize my insurance. They were very patient and answered all of my questions. Last Saturday I woke up and my eye was very swollen, itchy, and painful and this office was able to fit me in for an appointment. I was in need of a new optometry office that was local and one that was recommended by friends. I always want to help local businesses because that contributes to our community. I was tired of just going to the spots where they just advertise you to death to get some kind of savings. The last place I had glasses from didn't make me feel comfortable. They rushed us through to get a frame and a set of lenses which turned out wacky. So I essentially wasted money because they couldn't get it right even after going back for adjustments. I was told it's my fault for choosing the frames and lenses. But I had no idea what I was getting because it wasn't explained to me. I went in to Sunshine Optometry and right away I notice the difference. Dr. Sarian explained all the issues I was experiencing with my previous lenses and helped me decide on a different type of lens that better suited my needs. He did a full examination of my eyes and checked on an issue as I was having with blurred vision in one of my eyes. He explained my issues and all checked out great which was a great relief. He let me sample a prescription right in the examination room so I could evaluate my lenses to make sure it was a good fit before I get new frames and lenses. I was really impressed with the selection of designer frames. They have all the brand names that you expect and more. Joanna, Jackie and the entire office staff really helped me pick out some stylish frames that fit me perfectly. Everyone was really helpful in finding me a style that fit my needs and my budget. I am not usually good with picking out stylish things for myself (especially glasses), so having some extra "eyes" really helped me find the right style and lens for my needs. I have been to many optometrists, most seemed to be big marketing type operations designed to sell you all sorts of things you did not need. I went to Zeltser because he was close to my house. I found a real gem. Dr. Zeltser is an old-time eye doctor. He has been at this location probably since granary square opened in the 80's. The fact that he is still around says a lot. I am confident in his service and he takes great care with my eyes. I also am not subjected to gimmicks and what not like I was at a prior provider. He takes my insurance, and they handle all the billing which is worth it's weight in gold. They have some evening hours and are able to accommodate my busy schedule. After combing Santa Clarita Valley For months trying to find frames that I like I stumbled upon Laura at Sunshine optometry in granary Square. I was starting to think I would have to leave Santa Clarita for Beverly Hills or the like in order to find an interesting frame that did not look like everybody else's that had a little spark.
