Staff was a bit cold, including doctor. A bit cold and unwelcoming from the get go. When being examined by the doctor he came off as if he had better things to do and was annoyed about my questions. His staff really pushed for the Progressive lenses and I was hesitant. When I got my glasses, the lower lenses where the reading prescription sat wasn't high enough at all and they had to redo them. Got them back again and still not high enough... Wasn't impressed with their frame selection and found frames from distributor and asked if they could order them and I was told they aren't allowed to do that at this time. "I've been a patient of Dr. Joshua Corben for about 5 years, regularly seeing him for annual exams and contact lens/glasses prescription renewals. He was always reliable in the past, but my most recent visit was extremely disappointing. During the appointment, Dr. Corben was rude, dismissive, no eye contact, didn't hardly speak and unsmiling. He showed little interest in answering my questions, which left me feeling very uncomfortable and unheard. Worse still, the prescription he provided for my contacts and glasses (including specialized lenses for computer use and distance vision) turned out to be significantly incorrect. I had to seek a second (and third) opinion from other providers, who performed full re-examinations and gave me completely different, accurate prescriptions. This experience was frustrating and concerning, especially after years of consistent care. I no longer feel confident returning and would advise others to proceed with caution." read more

Where do I start?? I go back to the days of advertising on Channel 6 which was before we had a mall and it was just Target, Kohls and Marshalls! The service at Corben Optometry has always been outstanding and I have to say that the Doctor's (father and son) are always so down to earth and easy going and I have never felt like a stranger. I think Helga has been there this whole time as well and always taken care of me...but now there is Gloria who is absolutely wonderful, attentive, and knowledgeable. Gloria helped me choose not only one frame but 3. What impressed me most was that she had several picked out for me before I even came in...Well a little backstory first...I purchased my new glasses (1) and Gloria informed me that I could convert my much-loved Ray Ban sunglasses to prescription glasses (2) as well. Then I broke my main glasses and Gloria assisted me with promptly getting replacements...but they were no longer available so she prepped ahead to have options ready upon arrival, saving me time...I still looked around, but Gloria's choice was definitely the best option! I never really do this, but it needs to be said. I spend a lot of money at Corben Optometry. I have been coming to Corben Optometry for years. The doctors and staff were always so compassionate about helping and making sure I was taken care of. Recently, anytime I call the girls that answer are not friendly. When you enter the office it is not welcoming like before and everyone is on their phone rather than helping customers. What happened to customer service? What happened to being kind and welcoming? Dr. Corben is thorough, kind, and professional. He makes the experience as pleasant as possible and makes sure your needs are met. However, I think they should consider better office staff. I received a call Tuesday that my glasses were ready. I said, "Great! I already paid to have them shipped." The gal said she would get them sent out. I called today (Thursday) just to verify they were sent and to get a tracking number. I was put on hold and told that my glasses JUST got there and they would be sending them out tomorrow. I replied, "No, they arrived Tuesday when you called me." The response was, "oh, I mean, Fed Ex hasn't picked the up yet." I asked for a tracking number.... was put on hold and evidently, a different office person gave me the number. I said, "You realize you just told me 2 different stories?" She said, "I don't know... that wasn't me!" When I entered the tracking number, it showed that is was JUST made as we were talking. JUST BE HONEST!!! Don't bullshit clients -- especially ones who keep this office as their Optometrist (even though we live in Big Bear Lake)..... -----UPDATE: I just checked the tracking number today at 1:20pm on Friday ---- still has not been picked up by Fed Ex --- UPDATE: Husband called to speak to Dr. Corben at 3:30pm, office staff said "He wasn't in yet." --- really? you close at 5pm --- they assured my husband that my glasses would be sent out today..... 4:30pm -- Fed Ex still doesn't show they've been picked up!!! CONGRATULATIONS: you guys just lost 2 long time customers. Dr. Corben, you're losing business because of you office staff! Many reviews say the same thing! read more
