Cancelled our service and didn't even give us a notice. I called because our garbage can was missing and the guy told me that they canceled our service because we were the only people on that block. Terrible business practice. How do you advertise to customers if you take people's garbages away from them? Will never recommend these people to anyone. read more

This is just my 2nd week of pickup. I had my trash can out by 4 am. When I checked it at 8 am, there was 1 13 gallon trash bag gone from the can, but about 85% was still there. I tried calling the office, got a message saying they're all on the phone, to continue to hold, press '1'. Pressing '1' takes me to a prompt to leave a message. If you're closed, just say you're closed. I would love to know if there is another trash company serving Rochester other than Waste Mgmt. Update - after being contacted by the company, they offered to send a truck back out to pick up the rest of the trash, and by 4 pm, it was picked up, and empty. I probably would have updated to 4 stars because of the difficulty in contacting the company, especially the option of remaining on hold but instead being sent to voice message, but I was VERY grateful for them offering to come back out. read more

I just read the most recent review of Sunshine Sanitation, oh my! Ive never had that experience with them. I do call and pay them on line each month. Sometimes everyother month. They have been very patient with me and i appreciate it. They've credited me a month when ive been out of the country. They have always been professional both the garbage haulers and the office personal. Ive had this company on and off for many years. I believe them to be fare and honest. I guess the only concern is they are picking my garbage up much later in the evening instead of early morning hours. But its no big deal maybe just a heads up next time. Wish they could service our townhome association! Had them before we move and were totally happy with them.

Been with this company at least ten years. Its the cheapest and they seem to pick up when others don't in Rochester. They have been most dependable. A couple of my neighbors have now moved to them as well. I have a few rentals and have had way more problems with the other big companies. read more

I had them for a month. They charge more than others on average, $32 per mo for the smallest container with recycling picked up every other week. AND charge extra if driver has to get out. So For 1 month of service I have to pay $25 extra! I recycled normal cardboard flattened, just not folded up enough to fit inside the bin. I've had service from other providers and NEVER encountered this overcharging. Then on the customer service front, the lady on the line said I had an attitude when I told her the service was disappointing. Otherwise "she would've worked with me" . read more

I Think I have been a customer since 2010, not exactly sure when I made the switch, but I have never had an issue with the service provided, have upsized and downsized my service as needed, each time the change was made I received my new cans the same week, never had an issue with their billing or payment processing really problem free, on one occasion the wheel came off my can, had a new can delivered the next day. On trash day my cans don't end up in the ditch, I have ever seen the driver leave "spilled debris" and I don't think I have ever seen anything flying out of their trucks as they drive down the road, unlike other service companies that also service the Area. Bottom line is I think they are a great company that services the area and is also generous in giving back to the community!!!! I highly recommend them. read more

I have been with Sunshine Sanitation for over 6 years. Occasionally, I get excess cardboard that will not fit in the recycling can. They request you to put it in between the garbage and the recycling containers as per their policy. They tried to give me a third can without discussing with me first, just one day dropped an extra recycle bin at my house, which I had to refuse due to the amount of space I have to house another container. I maybe have extra cardboard once every other month. Which after speaking on the phone with a woman, they took the can back and said it is still their policy to have excess cardboard in between the two cans. The next time I put the recycling out after NO cardboard for the last 2 bi-weekly pickups. They skipped the cardboard again. I called and spoke to a woman again and she was very rude to me on the phone and implied I take my business somewhere else. My brother then showed up onsite to discuss a resolution to this issue and from what he said, was treated like crap. He was informed of notes on the account that we have never been notified of before. The communication from this company needs immediate attention. I'm not looking to get anything free, or take advantage of their services. I just want to be treated like the good paying customer that I am, and have Sunshine step up to the plate and resolve an issue without making my family out to be the bad guy. This is how your customer service treats paying customers? WORK WITH ME, PLEASE! Stop getting defensive and fix the issue, change your policy or offer me a solution that I can work with! read more

Signed up for Sunshine when we moved into a rental house as that is the service the previous tenants used. Regretably, I didn't research the competition until we were already signed up. They are not cheaper, and for the price the bins provided are small. They are the only company I've seen in the area that use the old school mini recycling bins. It's a process to set up automatic bill pay. And as it's a small set up there is no recourse for complaints because the phone is always answered by one of the same two people. They are to garbage collection what Charter is to internet service. read more

I have just finished the most horrible customer service I have received in recent years. I recently called to cancel my service with Sunshine Sanitation because they had repeated billing errors to my account. Twice they tried to incorrectly charge me for extra garbage bags which I had to dispute, and three times they accused me of changing the billing zip code of my credit card that prevented them from charging my payment and potentially putting bogus/fraudulent late fees...and I have used the same credit card with them for the last 3 years! Enough was enough! I canceled them and went to a more reputable contractor, and although I requested my service to end this coming Monday (which it is currently Friday), and my bill even reflects that service is paid until Monday, they somehow sent someone to pick up the garbage cans and leaving no option to put garbage out over the weekend...btw...I should mention that this is for the home my 72year old mother lives by herself, and I live out of town. I spoke to a person at the business at 345p today and she told me she would be sending cans out right away...it is now 845p, the business is closed for the weekend, and no trash cans! I will be reporting them to BBB, Federal Trade Commission, and city council, and possibly as fraudulent charges to my credit card since they are charging me for extra days when I have no access to trash cans! What ever you do, do not choose Sunshine Sanitation...for obvious reasons. read more
