In the past, Waste Management picked up our trash and recycles very late around 4:00 pm, which annoyed me because LRS and Harter's Disposal have already picked up their garbage bins in morning hours. Our neighbors already put their bins away in their garages whereas we are still waiting for WM trucks to arrive. I felt ashamed when our bins were still sitting on the driveway. The best thing now is Waste Management has changed the pick-up schedule for the drivers in my neighborhood. Do you know what? My trash is picked up between 10:00 am and 10:30 am. Also, Waste Management never misses any pickups for my house. I don't understand why other people claim that their trash and recycling are not picked up. My house has got annual contracts with Waste Management because it's cheaper than paying quarterly bills. We get some discounts that help us lower the costs, ending up cheaper than other trash companies charging quarterly. read more

I just spent a frustrating 12 minutes on the phone with this company trying to set up service. It takes an extreme amount of effort and time to bypass their automated system and get to speak to a live agent. Once I finally got one her system was not working and I was placed on hold. After several minutes of being on hold I determined this would not be the company for us. read more

I would not use this service ever again. They take every opportunity to charge you with misc charges that are significantly higher than their actual costs. The last straw was when we sold two buildings that they served. When we cancelled the service, they charged us $375 per building to remove their container. Last week the truck that emptied my dumpster leaked about a gallon of oil on to my concrete drive. A straight line of leakage right up to the dumpster. Now traffic is spreading the oil all over by driving thru it!! Waste Management wants you to believe they are a "green" company! They did that for about a month and then just stopped. Over the past 3 months they've missed 6 pickups even though trash and recycling are out the night before. I cancelled my service with WM 2 months ago. I have been given multiple dates when they said they would pick up my bins. They gave me todays date and the bins are still here. I call each week. If I could give 0 stars I would. This company is a joke. I paid my bill and 4 days later they took my bins. I called the next business day and asked why. So than I canceled my service because they wanted me to pay an additional fea to reinstate my service even though I paid my bill. Now I show a negative amount via email so I called about it. I was told they don't do refunds due to canceling early. Um you took my bins after payment and than wanted more money. Now your keeping 161 buxs of my money. I honestly believe this company is operating in bad faith and is in breach of anti-trust laws. WM has taken over 4 (THEY LITERALLY JUST BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE) of the garbage companies in my area and increased everyone's bills from $30 a month to nearly $50 in less than two years. That's 150 bucks a quarter for standard garbage collection... its practically highway robbery and certainly feels like a bad monopoly. Of course all their customer service has pages of essays written in legalize to explain to you why you have to pay all their increasing fees, but oh yeah you can reduce your bill (by like 6 dollars a quarter) if you get a garbage container roughly the size of a shoebox. Just Cancelled with them and was able to get a deal with the LAST REMAINING company available to me... over a year I will save $240 over WM. OTHER COMPANY: $360 for 12 months of 96g garbage and recycling WM: $600 for 12 months of 96g garbage and recycling. How's that for feedback WM? YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY GOUGING EVERYONE. I would rate this company a ZERO but they don't allow it. I ordered garbage and recycling cans on 8/1 they said they'd deliver both cans and pick up garbage on the street on 8/2. neither the cans or the garbage was picked up. I called, they said they do it on 8/9 the following Tuesday. They brought just the garbage can, and forgot the recycling can. I called again and they said they'd immediately have a can delivered, it's now 8/14 and no can. i called and cancelled service and they didn't ask why, I told him why and he didn't seem to care and didn't tell me if I'd get a refund or what so I asked and he was brief and rude. I called and canceled my service. It was on auto pay prior to my next billing and there told me I was going to still have to pay them one week of service and that they would send me a bill. They pulled my full quarter out of my checking account and are offering about two months plus taxes refund. In six or eight weeks. I spent just under 22 minutes on the phone with them and the call was either hung up or somehow disconnected on their end. read more

I have been a Waste Management customer since they bought out my previous garbage disposal service about 10 years ago. Yesterday (Thursday) the took my garbage can . I was really n hold for almost 45 minutes waiting for some help in Customer service. I finally got through to a live person and after checking into it, I was told that there appeared to be no reason for them removing my garbage can and they could bring me a new one on Tuesday so that I didn't miss service on Wednesday. I told them 6 days without a can for no reason wasn't acceptable and that they needed to get it back time by today, Friday. They have not returned the can and I am going to cancel service . These folks are very crafty. In our complex, they miss entire weeks of service then charge $50 a dumpster for "overflowing" dumpsters. They are known throughout the city as a fate worse than death. Pray they down buy out your current provider. read more

WM doesn't even deserve zero stars and I'd give them a -10 if I could. If you have a choice, RUN don't walk in the other direction. I have left them twice due to their extremely poor customer service. Both times, they bought out the company I chose instead of WM and I ended up with WM again. The last time I left them, it took them 2 MONTHS just to pick up their unused waste disposal container. In the last year or so they bought out the last company I moved to and I have no other choices, so I had to go with WM again. They are still up to the same bad service. Got an email last Tue afternoon teling me weather delay, will pick up Wed. Email on Wed afternoon indicated a further delay until Saturday. Saturday afternoon another email stating delayed until next pickup. I've now dragged the trash and recycling containers down the driveway four different times--they had better come get it today. Businesses were operating throughout this time and there is no reason they couldn't have done the same. Instead, trash overflowed and I had to run some to the dump myself. Today I called for a credit on the missed week--after 20 minutes of trying to talk with a human, I was finally put in touch with someone halfway across the country who informed me no credits for skipped weeks, that's "just the way it goes". No local phone number to call at all and extremely lousy customer service. As soon as they have a competitor, I will change service immediately. 1-star is a giant gift. read more

One star is generous. I've been nothing but disappointed since they bought out Garbage Man. They didn't pick up my trash for the first month. I can understand the first day as they didn't replace the cans and their drivers are not accustomed to picking up cans with another companies logo. A month is excessive and I received no compensation. It wasn't until the local news station ran a story about the piss poor service that things started to improve. Today I just received an invoice for three extra bags. This was a shock to me as my can is at most 3/4 full certainly never so full that I need extra bags. I looked back at previous invoices and realized I had missed the same charge on the quarterly invoice that had just auto payed last week. I have yet to get a response from their customer service. *one month update: I was told the invoice would be credited only to end up being charged (enrolled in autopay). I sent another message and was told the payment had not yet posted in their system and would be refunded once it had. That was two weeks ago and I still have not seen a refund. read more

It seems if it is not one issue, it is another. There are delays in picking up, but no notifications about the delays. I intentionally place my cans to the side of my driveway so I can pull in and out, but the trucks place my cans in front of my driveway so I have to get out of my car when I get home and move them before parking my car. They use a mechanical arm to lift and dump the cans, but do not check if the cans are empty when done. I have had recycling stuck in the bottom of the cans for 2 weeks, limiting me from using the full can after it was picked up. A simple eyeball check after dumping the cans would solve this issue. read more

May 1 Countryside Disposal business was transferred to Waste Management. June 2 our garbage bin was removed. When I called, was told it would be replaced. June 4, I called and was told they did not have a truck and would not be providing service. They claimed they attempted to contact us June 3 (no messages on either of my phones). No advance warning, NOTHING!. They were able to handle May service, now they can't. What incompetency !!! read more

Terrible service. We've had them for not even two months and they've failed to get our recycling twice. Both times I carried to get it picked up, got promises to do so (two rounds each time) and failure. They claim (via their phone system) that they couldn't complete it, but the can is in the same place it is every week when it does get emptied, right next to the trash that also gets emptied. I'm pretty sure they have lazy or over-stretched drivers, but it's still completely unacceptable. read more

Run far from this company! They continue to take over local trash removal services leaving many households no choice. I just finished 2 hours of picking up recycling trash their truck spewed all over our neighborhood AGAIN. This is only one example of the numerous problems I have experienced with this company. Missed or partial pick-ups is not a rare occurrence nor are problems with billing. I can go on more but enough said. Thank goodness there is now another local company I can sign up with. This is the second week in a row that our recycling container was not completely emptied. As former GarbageMan customers this is pretty disappointing. GarbageMan had employees outside the truck to ensure all containers were emptied and then put them one in front of the other for easy access to the driveway. I'm sure it took more time but the customer service from GarbageMan far surpassed the current service we receive from WM. read more
