What a fun adventure! We booked this last minute adventure out of John's pass before heading home. You set sail on an hour and a half long voyage through the inlet, down past treasure island and turning around before mid st Pete. While on board they have a pirate bar with free beer, wine, lemonade, soda and water. A number of cocktails and other beverages for purchase. They also have a few snacks available (Doritos, cookies, sun chips). We brought our bag with bottled water and snacks. Definitely sunglasses, hats and sunscreen! There is a small shade covering and little seating area in the make that covered but majority of the voyage is sunny. And trust me, you want the views! The pirates Matt, Dawson and Jake were great! They played the part and were awesome with the children. They did a pirate story time, dance party, limbo, water gun fight, face paint and plenty of views. The kids loved it. If you're looking for an adventure for the family, check this one out!

The crew, Rik, Dawson and Tracy did a FANTASTIC job! They kept the kids VERY entertained, which gave parents a little break as well. They had fun stories for the kids and squirt guns (yes, they may get a little wet, but it SO worth it!). We also saw some dolphins and it was BEAUTIFUL! We would hands down RECOMMEND THIS to others especially with kids!

Cruise was educational and relaxing. We saw plenty of dolphins and the boat wasn't too full either. Captain Jim was a great DJ and him and Tracey were both very knowledgeable! The only thing that could make this cruise better is fans.

We took this tour on a whim while walking around John's Pass, and we are so glad we did! Collin and Kirsten were amazing guides, and his boating skills are unreal! He turned that huge pontoon around in a small canal after we followed a dolphin in to watch it splash around. Kirsten was very knowledgeable about the dolphins and answered all our questions. They knew just where to go to find the dolphins! I highly recommend this tour!

I'm going to admit, I wasn't crazy about spending an evening on a pirate ship, but my kids really wanted to, and I was told there would be free drinks, so I was persuaded! I quickly realized it was the right choice and well worth the price of admission. All of the staff we encountered on our cruise were friendly, from the gift shop to disembarking. Once onboard the ship, the drinks started flowing (some beers and wine were free, others available for an extra fee) and the activities for kids began. Older adults and those without children quickly headed to the top deck to avoid being bystanders. I really appreciated the kids activities, which served as built-in babysitting while my husband and I enjoyed the views. The hosts (pirates) were not hokey, but instead quick-witted and funny as hell, and mostly appropriate when the kids were around (or at least their jokes went over their heads). The ship was a comfortable 90 minute ride through the neighboring bay and we arrived back right on time for our 7PM dinner reservation. After arriving back on shore, we purchased our commemorative photo (only $20 with frame) so that we could always remember our fun fall break. Needless to say, we had a great time and I would recommend it to anyone.

Our friends invited us on the Pirate ship cruise, they have been lots of times and said our kids would love it. Our kids did love it! They have gun fights, stories, give the kids tattoos, games and lots of other fun things to keep them occupied for the cruise. The adults can sit back and watch the kids have fun and enjoy a beverage. Beer, wine, pop and water are included in the price of the tickets. I believe premium drinks are $4. The cruise takes you in the bay. Its a decent view of all the houses and such. If your lucky you can see some dolphins! Now on the the staff, they were excellent! Thw two pirates kept the kids occupied and the captain was nice and knowledgeable about the area. When you arrive back to John's pass they have the family photos that you can purchase in a frame for $25. We loved that! Also check out their cute store, they have some neat items in there. Overall, it was a good experience and a beautiful day!

This is something I do recommend. Steve is the boat captain, and Grace was our narrator and also our waitress. They offer drinks pop to alcohol. Grace will come get your card and hold on to it until you are returning back to your dock. Then she will give it back. It's because she will run your tab at one time so don't go asking her for your card! They were both awesome. We saw plenty of dolphins. It was almost 2 hr ride. Our boat was not full. There were available seats in the middle. But we did ride on a Monday at noon. read more

My husband and I took our two kids (3 & 7) on the pirate cruise and it was truly an experience. This wasn't our first rodeo- we two boys and one might say we are connoisseurs of the pirate ship experience. I can say with honesty that this was by far the best one we've done. Usually when we do these, there are tons of people and barely room to move around. I find myself hoarse afterwards yelling for my child to stay close trying to sift through all the people. There were maybe 4 other families on the boat and there was plenty of space to move around. The activities they did with the kids were awesome, including a water gun fight, sword fight, story and face painting. We even saw dolphins during our cruise. My oldest son said it was his favorite pirate cruise yet. The crew was truly excellent and we are so grateful we lucked out and had them make our experience so special. read more

I decided for my 40th birthday to take a sunset boat cruise and I am glad to have worked with this company. The staff from check in to disembark were amazing and friendly. We rode the smaller boat for dolphin quest and it was great being on the ocean at sunset. We even got to see many dolphins. There are alcoholic beverages on board for a very cheap price which is great. My friends and I had a really great time and it was a relaxing yet beautiful way to kick off my bday night. My friends and I had the best time on this tour! We did it on a day that the weather wasn't really warm enough for the beach or pool and I'm so happy we were able to do this. I booked this for the kids thinking it was going to be hokey and lame but it was actually some of the most fun we had on our trip to Madeira Beach. It was entertaining for adults and the kids and never got boring. The included buds made the voyage all the more lively and the dudes leading the entertainment (Justin and the other guy that was more polite and nicer to the kids lol) did an awesome job making sure everybody had a blast. The cruise has little built in breaks where they take all the kids to a different part of the ship for story time or to load up their squirt guns and parents actually have a few minutes to enjoy themselves. Peg Leg Pete, himself, may even make an appearance! I wouldn't hesitate at all to recommend this to anyone, even without kiddos. Check the local flyers around town for a coupon be sure to give the guys a tip. The voyage includes face painting, pirate hats, a certificate, and some beverages. read more

Everything about this experience was amazing, if you are looking for something budget friendly to do with your family definitely check out this company. The staff at the ticket booth to the captain and his assistant on the boat were all so friendly and knowledgeable. We got to see soo much dolphin activity on the sunset cruise even though it was definitely a chilly day out. On the boat there were drinks, snacks a bathroom and because it was so cold outside they provided blankets you could use onboard (it was literally life saving we were unprepared). read more

Had a great time on this sunset cruise! Our group of four were on a girls weekend trip and decided to do this cruise. So glad we did! Started with a squirt gun battle which was fun for all (no we didn't get soaked or anything). Group pic when we boarded which you can purchase at the end if you'd like. Free beer, wine and soda on board and other options available for purchase. I thought they did a great job of entertaining the kids on board too. Staff was friendly and really made it fun. Saw some dolphins, a beautiful sunset, cannon blast, limbo and some fun dancing too. What a great time! read more

The cruise itself was great, gave us options of how we wanted it to go, and let us out to swim for a little. The wind wasn't in our favor so no full sailing BUT the weather was great and we were still plenty happy cruising on the water - even got a little extra time on the end. The ride to the Skyway Bridge was beautiful and the water and weather were all working in our favor. It was a relaxing ride and we saw a couple of pods of Dolphins. We felt we could reach out and touch them. As we got to the skyway and turned towards shore, the captain asked if we would like to sail, which we did for a while. It was spectacular. The catamaran was beautiful, clean, comfy and cozy. We were briefed on where to find the lifejackets and there was a small raft on the aft. I cannot say enough about this truly wonderful crew and Boat "Sweet Escape ". I highly recommend and will use them again! Thank you guys for a truly amazing time. My family was blown away.

I came across Charter Finders and saw they were veteran owned. I contacted them via telephone, they answered all of my questions, and were extremely polite. They offer a discount for veterans and first responders which was nice and was a draw for us. We knew we were likely in good hands. The boat leaves from Sea Dog Brewery which was great for grabbing drinks to go and bring with! They make a good seltzer FYI. Dean and Tim had a cooler with ice on board where you could throw your own booze. There were only 6 other people on board and it made for a much better experience. We made friends and just sat back and relaxed. We were able to see dolphins up close on the way to shell key island and back. (See attached photo) Once we were at shell key advice was provided as to where to find shells. Some of us had high success. We were unable to snorkel due to visibility. The island is beautiful and not populated. The trip was roughly 3 hours long, but they were nice enough to extend it an hour so we got very very lucky. We highly recommend Dean & Tim and cannot wait to go again in the future.

However, the boat itself was older and showed quite a bit of wear and tear. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the experience overall. Our kids were especially excited about snorkeling and finding seas shells but when we arrived at Shell Key island, it was so crowded that the boat wasn't able to dock anywhere. The captain took us to a different location, but the snorkeling there was very poor, and we were only able to stay about 45 minutes because our time was almost up. Overall, the trip did not meet our expectations. I wish I would have done a little more research and booked with a different company.

Dalton provided expert commentary about the area, even pointing out a few celebrity homes and yachts along the way. It was a gorgeous ride over to Shell Key, and we even saw a few dolphins along the way. Once on the island, we had about 45-50 minutes to explore the beaches and do a little snorkeling and shell-hunting. The island is aptly named, with rows and piles of shells along its white, sandy beaches. The water was warm and perfect for swimming. Soon enough we were back on board and heading back to the harbor. And that's when the magic happened: dolphins! Following along in our wake, and no doubt attracted to the enthusiastic squeals of one of our dolphin-loving fellow passengers, the dolphins put on quite a show. Even Dalton, who I assume sees a LOT of dolphins, was impressed by how long they followed in our wake and performed jumps and flips for us. It was truly one of the most remarkable experiences of my life! Thank you Dalton and Island Ferry for an amazing and memorable tour and one of the true highlights of our vacation!

We were looking for a fun and special way to end our team trip to Florida and Dolphin Quest was an absolute dream. Our game schedule made it very messy to plan but Gina was an angel, going above and beyond to work with all of our complications. We did the pirate cruise with this company with our 7 year old son and 3 year old daughter. It was a great experience for all of us! The kids loved the water gun fights, stories and searching for treasure. The crew does an outstanding job keeping them entertained for the hour and a half you are out riding. We pre-booked a 4pm trip for 8 adults, then realized 2pm would work better the day of the trip. They were perfectly accommodating for our large group. We saw a ton of dolphins, and learned a lot about some of the quirky things in the area. Drinks were reasonably priced. This trip is a bargain at $20 per person; we have paid more and saw much less at different places. Great for any age. read more

Collin and Grace were superb hosts from telling jokes to sharing information about the dolphins and a variety of birds along with some history of the area.
