I found the gun department staffed with EXPERIENCED and attentive employees who participate in shooting activities like I enjoy and were able to offer a discount that made a good deal even better. I feel that if you exhibit the safety habits that make everyone on both sides of the counter feel comfortable and show employees that you would not be a danger to yourself or others you will find employees who are happy to serve and even train you depending on your experience level. Don't expect the same happy response from that employee if you show disrespect for gun safety or have nefarious ownership reasons because those employees protect my rights to legal ownership and the stores best interests which I rely on and keeps me coming back when ever the need dictates.

As an avid adventurer of the western US, I tend to visit outdoor stores wherever I travel to see what their idea of adventure is there and take the chance to upgrade gear that's frustrating to use or worn out over time. I've visited Bill Jackson's on two separate occasions now, heading in each time with about $500 worth of gear in mind to shop for. The first time I came, I got great help from multiple associates and planned to purchase gear off of their advise, but witnessed a confrontation between management and an associate that I recall as mild but disruptive enough it made me leave the store without buying anything. I didn't come back for about 8 months. Now I'm back in town for a few weeks of work before heading on a 2,700 mile bikepacking journey and really needed to grab a few items I hoped they'd have in stock. Being interesting in all outdoor activities, I started talking with an associate about the ski shop they were building the last time I was here. He keyed in that I had ski knowledge from my time tuning skis and custom fitting ski boots out west and started talking to me about part time work as they expected to need some extra hands with ski knowledge and took me to show me their ski selection. To get there, we had to walk through an area that he explained was sectioned off for an upcoming sale, so not yet available, but the necessary route to the still-open ski shop. He made a pretty good case for their ski shop and my wheels were turning about coming to help them out in the fall. On our way back through the sale area, I asked a question about the items we were walking past and the associate was very clear that those items were not available for sale until the official sale start date, but took the opportunity to educate me about them(I knew very little about diving equipment but am curious to learn). I was quickly convinced that a decent snorkeling kit was necessary equipment to enjoy the area and decided I'd get a setup. Before he got a chance to redirect me to where the currently available snorkeling gear was(I could tell it was coming, this area was also tiny compared to the sale area), an angry manager/owner appeared ready to tear apart the kind and helpful associate that had just taught me what I needed to know to spend an extra couple hundred dollars on top of the items I was already planning. I hurriedly left the area while she continued to holler at me and once I passed the threshold of that room I heard her resume berating the associate in anger. I walked myself over to the full price scuba stuff and found another helpful associate, but I could not bring myself to buy anything from this store after that experience. It was not unreasonable for her to ask us to move along since we had stopped in a place we were meant to pass through, but she was incredibly rude to the associate for going above and beyond to take care of an enthusiastic customer. I won't spend money here, that manager is the most unkind person I've encountered since I've been in Tampa. In a town of incredibly kind people, there is no place for that. Very sad, I really wanted to like this store. The associates seem to be knowledgeable and passionate about the outdoors, but they don't deserve to be treated that way.

Chad & Frank really know their stuff and could probably answer any questions you throw at them when it comes to living underwater!! I went through their open water dive class & what a great experience. We started in the classroom with bookwork and then to the pool for a hands on introduction to all the necessary equipment used to scuba safely!! The following weekend (Saturday)we traveled as a group to Rainbow river to acquaint us with an open water dive. The next day (Sunday) We then traveled just down the road to Blue Grotto Dive resort and were able to freely dive in a beautiful aqua-fur that's a constant 70° and crystal clear!! All in all I wouldn't go anywhere else for my scuba needs!! So give it a shot, stop in to see the gentleman at Suncoast Dice Center!!!

I could not make that trip and tried to make arrangements to go on several other trips but due to scheduling it did not work out on either end. On Sept 13th I asked for a credit / gift card for another trip. I was not going to be able to go for many weeks and wanted something showing I had a credit for the 200+ I had paid, but got no response. On Sept 19th I asked for a refund since they had ignored my request and again got no response. On Friday the 26th I asked for acknowledgment of my request and yet again, got no response. On Monday the 29th I called and left a message for the owner to contact me and never got a call back. I had to put in a dispute with my credit card company. Be cautious booking with them. First experience was great, second experience showed they couldn't care less, once they have your money it doesn't matter if they take you diving or not.

Generally, I go to the keys to dive, but have occasionally gone diving locally in the Gulf of Mexico. This past weekend was my first time diving with Far Horizons and I was very pleased! Coordination of the dive was simple and seamless with Margaret. Met at the boat at 7:30AM on a Saturday and departure at 8AM. Margaret and her husband, Captian Mike, were very friendly and knowledgeable. Captain Mike took us out about 18 miles to Fathom 10 / Tramp Steamer wreck in about 60 ft of water. Amazing visibility, could see the wreck at the bottom as soon as we got in the water. Tons of large sized grouper. Sea was a little choppier than weather reports made it sound, but Captain Mike took great care of us and we were certainly pleased. The dive was so good, we did not want to change locations, we did the same dive again with the 2nd tank. The boat is updated and well maintained. Best for groups of divers around 6 or 7. I brought my mother for mother's day and two friends who were visiting from out of town, we met another solo diver who joined our group and we more or less all stayed together in a big group underwater. There was also a diver master giving his student a open water checkout dive. It was a good group size for ease of maneuvering around the boat, storing all the gear and tanks, getting in and out of the water. The inside area of the boat is spacious. Margaret made sure the boat was stocked with plenty of water, fresh fruit, and some PB&J sandwiches, which proved to be clutch for the ride back. We arrived back at the dock about 1:30PM where Margaret was waiting for us. She took a group shot, they helped us unload, and we went home. Then I spend about 5 hours telling my wife all the morning diving stories. I think she needs about a 6 month break from hearing me talk about diving. I certainly don't intend to wait that long before my next dive, but I guess I will try to give her just the cliff notes next time. I think my stories exhausted her more than the dive exhausted me. Perhaps it was all the adrenaline I still had flowing thanks to the fantastic charter services of Far Horizons.

First Time Experience…read more Capt Mike and First Mate Randy were great! Red Tide had become an issue so Capt Mike went the extra mile (25 of them to be exact) to get us where the fish would be. He knew right where to find them. No wasted time searching. Very knowledgeable and Very Experienced! They kept the lines baited and the fish coming. No time wasted. This was our first trip out and my son and I will never forget it. The fish were amazing with a couple of suggested recipe's from Randy. Cooked for 20 adults and everyone loved it. We will be back and booking another offshore fishing experience with Far Horizons. Great people! A BIG THANK YOU TO MARGARET AS WELL! She took care of all the booking. Quick response time to all questions leading up to the day of the trip.

Those two reviews had me peeking in to see if there was a Doberman or Rottweiler in there) I live down the beach a bit and needed to renew my fishing license. These folks can do it for you in the shop. If you like fishing, like I do - this is akin to a Hall of Fame. They have an enormous selection and specialize in Penn reels and every aspect of gear from kiddy poles & rigs to deep sea goliath rods and reels (Scuba gear too and - beach apparel) I spent a good 40 mins chatting with Donna, who so nicely schooled me on local best practices (gear, bait, rigs, etc) She takes pride in her knowledge and it shows. For the Hall of Fame part, if you walk past the checkout counter there's a glass wall display of antique gear in their original boxes and a second one dedicated to diving - so very cool to see. Bottom line, anytime you've been in business for over 50 years - you're doing something right. Customer for life.

05/11/2023 Stopped in to buy some clothing. The owner had a…read moredog, and after I found a parking space went in to join the ladies I left off. The dog continued to bark and growl at me, walked away and the dog followed. Wife found a $70 shirt for me, but I just wanted to leave. Wife and lady we brought to look for shirts for her sons stayed. They came out later with shirts. If you've ever been bitten by a dog, or are afraid or dogs, take heed.
