I looked into Sunwest Painting initially about 2 years ago to have them repaint the exterior of my house, then Covid. Had them out again for a revised estimate a few months back and finally pulled the trigger. They are responsive, overly communicate (which I love) and have an overall great team. Super friendly and did what they said they would do and finished the job in a timely manner. Happy with their process - they made it easy to select colors, told me where to go, who to speak with, etc. In terms of their bid compared to two others that I received, they came in the middle, and in my opinion was worth every penny since they made it so easy. When I did the walk-thru after they were done with my husband (and we are picky and particular) there was not one thing I needed to have them come back for! We were looking to repaint part of the exterior of our house after planning some external remodeling. Denise came out and gave us a quote which we'd thought we reasonable we'd decided to repaint the entire exterior instead. They were very nice working with our scheduling as we had to move it a couple of times because of our remodel. Once the date was finalized, Denise came out again and was able to go over all the options we have. Alonso then came out to do a sample patch for us to ensure it's what we wanted. The painters were great, power washed and patched the exterior. Did some repairs on rotted woodwork as well as re-hammering back down some wood siding to eliminate gaps on the wall. The initial consultation with Denise was excellent steering us into color choices that we were extremely happy with. The painters were courteous, professional and took a lot of pride in the quality of the work they did. They were meticulous in checking for damaged wood and repairing, caulking around windows and doors and covering surfaces to prevent accidental paint application. We hired Sunwest to paint the exterior of our large two story house. I quoted the project with 6 contractors. Sunwest was not the highest bid or the lowest. Their bid was fair and detailed. They explained the pros and cons of various types of paint and how it would impact the price of the job and the warranty. (Yes they warranty their work!) Ultimately out of all the contractors I talked to, I felt that they were the most customer service oriented and fairly priced. They treated me with respect and answered my questions honestly and quickly - unlike many of the other contractors I spoke to. I couldn't have been happier with their service, attention to detail and patience with my attempts to find the "perfect" color. Additionally I hired them to remove the old exterior lighting and replace with new lighting. The end product is exactly what I wanted. This was not an easy project. Our house has steep roof angles, copper gutters , real stone siding, several very high chimneys and a lot of windows. Copper gutters had to be protected and masked off and they could not lean ladders on them. They took the utmost care to protect the gutters, as well as all our stone siding, flooring, pavers and greenery. And to mask every window and caulk them properly. Their crew was prompt, kind, cleaned up the worksite daily and a joy to have at our house for over two weeks. Their attention to detail and care about their work was evident. My review is very overdue, but I have to chime in and say how great Sunwest was. They painted my 1900s home in September 2020 and restored its beauty. The process was great. They were quick to come out for an estimate and Denise was helpful with the color consultation. I worked with Sunwest Painting to remove my popcorn ceiling, re-texture, and paint the ceiling. The result was fantastic! At the first day, Alonso came in to measure the room and gave me the itemized quote right away. There was no hiding cost and it was very clear and easy to understand. Then Carlos and another his colleague came on time as scheduled. They were very easy to work with. They worked with my electrician very well. After the electrician installed the recessed light, they fixed all the cuts on the ceiling (which they didn't have to). After the job finished, I noticed some extra paint on the windows and some other tiny issues. They were willing to fix all of them. I have to thank Carlos again because he painted the entire interior of the closet just to fix the cut in issue. When he installed the duct cover of the A/C back, he even replaced the filter (he saw we had a new filter) which I didn't even ask him to do. I used Sunwest recently with a variety of painting, fence cleaning and resealing, and drywall repair. We had a very good experience with them. Anthony did the bulk of the work, he prepped nicely, kept everything neat and tidy and did really nice work, he is a diligent and hard worker. Efrain (spelling?) did the drywall repair in the bathroom and did an awesome job, it's like nothing every happened in there, and there was not a speck of dust left behind. We had a little snafu with a color not matching correctly, but they really came through and made it right which is what counts, I really appreciated that. Sunwest Painting was hired by my Solar contractor to work on the stucco around the main electric panel that was upgraded as part of the solar install. I was not happy with the work that the Solar company had done in finishing up the stucco and insisted that they hire a professional painter to fix it. Sunwest came out to fix it and did an amazing job at finishing up the stucco and matching the color as closely as possible. Luis, the owner of the company who stopped by to check up on the job and also came back to paint on a Saturday seems like a very honest and straightforward guy who was interested in doing the best he could. We got 2 bids for our house painting while Sunwest was not the cheapest they are licensed and pay for workers compensation insurance per Ca Check a license. We used several contractors for numerous projects in our home purchase for the past 8 months and Sun West is hands down one of the best. Even during this pandemic, while other businesses say there is labor shortage, supply shortage and every other excuse out there to not do a good job, we experienced non of that with Sun West. The scheduling was done well, very accommodating to our needs and timing. They provide digital renders of the colors you select and also do large physical swatches on your house. The cherry on top is that this is family owned and run, so they care about quality and service. Luis, Cecilia, Alonzo, Corina, Denise - all great people. After they finished everything and left, I had a change of heart and wanted some trim color added to corbels that I had told them to leave before. I sent them an email and right away they agreed to return and paint them. Seriously AMAZING. They didn't make me feel like I was inconveniencing them. A few things to note about the painting crew: they are very neat and clean. At the end of each day, they make sure to clean up and put everything to the side. Everything is carefully covered and taken care of. They work quickly and do not waste any time. Everyone on our street was impressed. One of our neighbors commented that "they didn't realize they were even there". You have to live a company like this. We will be using them for Interior projects and they will be the ones we recommend to everyone. They are extremely busy but they will treat you as valued, no matter what. Originally I was recommended to them by a friend they were definitely much better run under Luis who left to pursue opening another company. For what they charge which is not inexpensive by any means you would expect a much more premium level of service. Denise is very absent minded and not very personable on the phone and misses emails. She also misses texts and fails to respond at times and requires followup on my part. One time she sent me a text of someone else's home it clearly shows her inaptitude. They clearly seem to take an approach to take on as many jobs as they can and not care about servicing their existing jobs adequately. I had a large remodel project in San Jose that they worked on. They clearly lack attention to detail. There were areas of overspray on the hardwood flooring in the closets. I had to point this out to them which should be clearly obvious. A color sample on the wall seemed to have go beyond that and onto a prepainted door sill which is just pure carelessness. My designer gave them the proper code for a gray tone and they messed up the sample with a red color and even painted the pantry and exterior door that color. Until I pointed it out they fixed it. No one higher up in the chain at this company decided to even stop by to check on progress or to reach out to me. Keep in mind this was a project that took several weeks. Also, instead of telling me about the drywall surface not looking ok surface wise in a bedroom downstairs and in the hallway section they decided to just paint over it. In the laundry room they didn't even properly prep the window sill and left it unpainted. I hired another contractor to fix their mistakes that they left behind since I can't trust them any further. What really pissed me off is the fact their lead guy Jorge lied to my face and blamed his colleagues for blessing my brand new toilets by defecating in two of them. He admitted to doing it to one of the other subcontractors I deal with it. He said why use a port-a-potty when toilets are inside the house. We had them taped off and "no user" written on tape by my plumbing contractor. Denise then passed me off to Alonso who decided to blame another subcontractor who I know quite well and trust on various projects of mine and they would never do such a thing. He even said I hope we don't have to go back again. What kind of owner of a business would say this? Now here you go with a negative review that you all rightfully deserve. I worked with them last week to fix a damage in my drywall and they were very prompt in setting up the appointment and very professional in the way they came in a day before, to take a look at the drywall repair that was required at my place, get the matching paint before they came in for the repair.
