Amazing on all aspects. It was a hot summer day. I had an out of town guest staying the weekend with me and i gave him the usual LA tour. We were at the Griffith Observatory and I was like why don't we go paddle boarding. He thought that was a great idea even though he has never tried. I yelped for rentals and standup paddle boarding with wade had the best reviews and best prices. I gave them a call and a female answered the phone and answered all my questions. I let them know that I was 2 hours out and she assured me that there will be boards available. She provided good directions as the place is easy to miss. The business is ran out of a boat at the very end of the dock. I will definitely include this now in every part of my LA tour when I have guests fly in. Ryan was excellent in making us feel comfortable. Tip: stay out of the center of the channel, there are plenty of boats. Paddle off to the side and constantly look over your shoulder. read more

I can't say enough great things about Wade. He is SO patient!! I grew up Windsurfing and am a swimmer, but paddling involves form that is a little different than windsurfing. In the past with other sports, I've had a hard time relating to teachers and getting meaningful feedback from instructors... but this was so different! I wish Wade could teach me all the sports I want to learn! Wade never lost his cool and was amazingly supportive of me, even when I wasn't doing well and was getting frustrated with myself. I came away from the lesson feeling really great about SUP and wanting to do it over and over! After 45 minutes... I felt like I could go out on my own and do it!! What a great way to get out on the water and get a seriously amazing workout in!!! Paddling is so popular in southern California for a reason! I can't WAIT to get out on the water again! read more

SO much fun! My friends and I wanted to do something a little different than our usual weekend brunch. This was the perfect alternative. We met Krista for a brief lesson where she filled us in on everything that we needed to know and then suggested some areas for us to check out. We were out for about 90 minutes in beautiful, quiet water. We paddled, took pictures and also lounged around on our boards. I was initially concerned that the learning curve on this would be steep but it wasn't at all. Krista has you covered. Highly recommend. read more

Wanted to update this post to reflect the ongoing attention I've received from Wade, Krista, and Gerry, who all have encouraged me as I've transitioned from student to frequent renter to owner of a board. I see Gerry in the waves and he's so supportive and friendly. And with his and Wade and Krista's encouragement, not only have I been catching waves a couple times a week, I just entered my first 5-mile race! I took a lesson with Wade a few weeks ago. It was great! They were easy to get a hold of and set up a lesson, Wade was very knowledgeable and I really felt I understood more of the technique and where and how I could practice on my own after leaving this lesson than in a lesson I had taken at a different place. What an incredible experience! Our family took lessons from Wade this past weekend and I cannot say enough about how great it was. Krista was so helpful in working with us to schedule (as we were visiting from out of town) and we were happy to be able to take the lesson in San Pedro, which was much closer to where we were staying. This was everyone's first time (including my young son), and everyone had a blast. Wade was a great instructor and had everyone up on the boards quickly. My son cannot stop talking about how fun it was and is already excited to go back to CA and do it again (with Wade, of course, who he has deemed the "coolest guy ever"). I took a friend Paddle Boarding this past weekend and it was awesome! Wade was extremely knowledgable about how Paddle Boarding came about and the lesson went by pretty quickly as he made it fun and kept us laughing. Highly recommend. Krista and Wade are both friendly and helpful. First time trying SUP and had a blast. Perfect day and a lot to see around the bay. Even went up to a few sea lions relaxing on the docks. Don't bother renting from another and more expensive place. You're just renting a board and paddle - no need to spend more. Wade is extremely patient. I have congenital hearing loss in my right ear, which throws off my balance. I never thought I would be able to balance on the board, but with Wade's instruction and feedback, I was up on my third try. Highly recommend him to anyone. read more

My niece and I were staying in Marina Del Ray and kept seeing all these people paddle boarding. I have always wanted to try it so after reading the great reviews about Wade, we choose to have a lesson with him. He was great - there were 4 of us and he made sure we all "got it" before going in. I just took a lesson with Wade. The guy's amazing. As his buff wife hovered in the b.g. Wade took me through the basics on the dock next to his slip in the marina. I had SUPed once before on my own, so it was really great to get a lesson b/c I didn't realize how much there was to the paddling stroke. Wade not only was very patient and deliberate in his explanations, it clearly radiated from him how much he loved the sport. After about 15 mins. of dock lesson we hit the water, I was up and standing, Wade was paddling next to me, coaching me on my stroke until I had it down to his satisfaction. Then, off we went together toward the ocean. Great workout. Way more aesthetically pleasing than going to the gym. Beautiful day. I'll definitely be back for the rentals now that Wade has told me my stroke is "looking good." read more

What an amazing day we had paddle boarding with Ryan today. The lesson was very comprehensive. He took my 6 year old with him and coached me along side. I was amazed at how well we both did. For my husband's and my first time time paddle boarding I was looking for something reasonably priced and easy to schedule. I saw SUP with Wade's amazing reviews and was happy to find that he taught lessons out of San Pedro! I paid online and then called to book my lesson. Krista was extremely friendly and helpful. She texted me directions for how to reach their San Pedro location so that I could easily locate it that day. The lesson was GREAT. It was obvious that Wade cared deeply about us understanding every detail of proper technique. We practiced our moves on the dock before getting our boards. With Wade's instructions we were both able to stand up and paddle on the first try!! The San Pedro harbor was a great place to learn as it was really quiet and calm - only a few boats drove in or out. We will definitely be paddleboarding again now that we have the basics down.
