No elevator. The rooms are tiny. However, the sheets and bedding appear to be clean. I inspected for bedbugs and found and none. The bathrooms are tiny and in need of updating. But the carpet has been replaced. The parking lot is well lit, it's easy to get to right off the interstate, and an easy driving distance of a number of restaurants, and within walking distance of McDonald's for a quick hot breakfast. read more

The man who checked me in was calm and actually worried that I might get charged for two rooms. He fixed that and gave me a room on the first level since my back hurt so much. The room is nothing fancy but clean and has everything you'd expect. Definitely where I'll stay in Hays KS. read more

Came in late and staff was very friendly. Very clean room & bathroom, sheets were soft. Great for the price and allowed pets with a reasonable fee. Easy to get to right off the exit. Key cards didn't work great so had to be patient to get it to work but overall would use again for a quick stop. read more

Clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. Located right off of I-70, this Super 8 was a great choice for an affordable stay. Upon checking in, I was greeted by a very friendly clerk at the desk. Once in the room, I was happy to see that it was clean and cozy with a comfortable bed. There's not much else to say. Location: 9 (close to I-70 with many food options and a pharmacy in easy driving distance) Security: 6 (The front desk staff wrote my room number on the outside of the key card holder: a big no-no for me. I was on garden level with ground floor windows which opened but did not lock, so they had a stick to keep windows from opening from outside. Also my door didn't always seem to latch properly, which I reported to front desk upon leaving.) Price: I used Wyndham points to pay, but it seemed reasonable, even at their advertised price Cleanliness: 10 (may be the cleanest accommodation I have ever stayed in; even the ac/heat unit was new-looking and dust-free) Pets: I did not bring my dog, but they are allowed for an $8 fee Customer Service: 10 Room: 9 (probably the only accommodation I have ever stayed in where it looks exactly like photo on Wyndham's website) Ice Machine: 10 Outlets: 10 (3 lamps each had double outlets available for charging electronics.) Indoor Noise: 9 Outdoor Noise: 4 (Location is on a busy road with a gas station next door. Hays seems to have a large number of ridiculous vehicles with glass packs or souped-up loud exhaust systems.) Breakfast: 6 (During Covid, they had prepackaged breakfast burritos, fruit & grain bars, cinnamon rolls, a couple of kinds of teabags, and coffee in the morning.) Coffee: 6 (Basic hotel reg & decaf coffee in room. Lobby had those little coffee creamers available 24 hours a day. Delicious in a cup of decaf after dinner.) My only issue with this hotel was the ridiculous amount of air fresheners used in rooms and lobby. The hallways also have those air freshener systems which release a constant stream of air fresheners. I have a neurological issue which is exacerbated by this. I spoke to Peter at the front desk, who could not have been nicer or more helpful. He offered me another room and walked down to open it so I could check it, but it didn't really smell any better. I ended up staying, but opened the window, turned on exhaust fan in bathroom and the fan on the heating & cooling unit, as well as used an air-cleansing device I carry. Peter called to check on me an hour or so later, which I thought was very thoughtful and above-and-beyond expectation. When I checked out, the lobby smelled just as strong as when I got there. I left very ill the next day and the next night I discovered the smell had permeated my night guard (a $300-400 investment) and tasted like air freshener. I had to soak it in mouthwash to make it diminish some. Bonus points for windows that open and the exhaust fan in the bathroom!! Overall, if the odor issue were resolved, this would be my new travel stop when crossing KS, due to cleanliness, nice room, kind staff, and fair price. read more

This disability room is completely inadequate for anyone in a wheelchair unless the chair is less than 30 inches wide. Access to the bathroom is ok but no way to get past the bottom of the bed to get to the side of the bed for transfer. The room just needs to be rearranged by moving the bed farther into the room. Someone in the planning department that oversees the arrangement of these rooms needs to consult with persons with disabilities on the needs of wheelchair bound customers. read more

I enjoyed staying here. The price was great and I have zero complaints. Check in: I enjoyed talking to Renee at check in. She was kind and helpful and got me checked in with ease. The room: The room was clean and nice. It's nothing fancy but about what I expected. The breakfast: currently pre-packaged items. The cinnamon roll was great. The area: right off the freeway. This is probably the worst hotel my family and I have had the displeasure of experiencing during our road trip adventures. While I understand that it is in a small town in Kansas, I feel like there are a lot of updates that need to be made. When we entered our room the door was open. That was disconcerting right off the bat. The carpet was filthy, and the beds were like sleeping on a cardboard box. In addition the only light for the room was a pull string light from a ceiling. The others didn't work. Don't forget to mention the contraption in order to get the shower to turn on... And let's not forget the fact that the chain lock was only held on by one screw. Really really really needs a lot of work. We certainly should not have paid almost $80 for this room, aside from the fact that the floor and walls are so thin we were kept awake most of the night. read more

My boyfriend, two dogs and I stopped here overnight on our way from Colorado to Iowa. The cost for one night stay with two dogs and a AAA discount was $67. We were given a discount - why, I'm not sure - and only charged one $10 pet deposit instead of two, so that was nice. There wasn't anything else nice about this Super 8, though. Nothing was AWFUL, but it was far from good. The lobby, as the first reviewer mentions, did reek of smoke. Our room did not smell of smoke, but it smelled of *something*. Maybe industrial chemical cleaners? I'm not sure, but it wasn't pleasant. The bathroom was super small and the shower rod was bowed in such a way that the shower curtain wouldn't close at either end, which let water loose all over the bathroom floor. I did appreciate the mini-fridge and microwave, though. A cheap stay and if you're not at all particular about where you rest your head at night, this Super 8 will probably be just fine for you. Personally, I felt a little uneasy the entire time. Maybe it was the smell. read more

My dog and I stayed here for one night while driving cross country to Colorado. The price was right and I was in the room for a grand total of 9 hours. For $75 it was a great deal. I needed a shower, bed and clean room. It could use an update but it gets the job done. The free breakfast was meh but, again, it's not the Ritz Carlton -- you get what you pay for. read more

We decided to stop here at 7am after literally driving 25 straight hours from Miami, FL. We were so happy with the service we received! They were able to check us into a King bedroom on the first floor and all! Our room was very clean. They even allowed us to check out on Sunday instead of same day at noon. However, we had to leave at 1 today anyway. You can never find a motel readily available, this nice, and at such a great price in Miami! read more

I had no real issues with this hotel, but this hotel claims to be a pet-friendly hotel but lacks areas for the dogs to 'go'. It also doesn't have wastebag stations. The coffee in the room was cheap and bad - the tea-bag variety. Additionally, the costs was excessive for what you get. This Super 8 was A-OK. As soon as we walked inside the lobby, the strong smell of smoke hit us. Disgusting. The service didn't really seem too interesting in helping get us into our rooms, but I suppose if I was working the night shift at a Super 8, I'd be a bit bummed too. The room, however, was clean, and despite the lack of a pool, it was a fine stay. The non-smoking room we were in actually smelled smoke free, so that was a big plus. It was right off the freeway, so that was good too! I'd stay here again if I was in Hays. read more

My husband, myself and another couple stopped here on the way from KC to CO. We just wanted a place to get a bit of sleep before waking up early and heading back out on the road. We booked the Super 8 through Priceline and it showed as the last room. $90 was a bit hefty in my opinion for a Super 8, but our choices were limited at that point. We pulled in around 10:00pm and when I walked in the lobby, they were experiencing computer issues and I had to wait a bit. Finally got keys to the room, went in and it was blazing hot in there. The window was open and we tried to get the air conditioner to come on, but no dice. We went to talk to the woman at the front desk and ran into 'Tom in Training' in the hallway. He was the maintenance/handy-man guy and he came in the room to try to get the a/c started and he had no luck. We went down to the front desk and she basically told us we were SOL because that was their last room. I have a hard time believing they were not aware that room had no a/c and still booked and charged $90 for it. She then said they had one more room, but the ceiling was leaking due to all the rain. She said it wasn't supposed to rain that night and it was all set up if we wanted that room with one king bed. My husband told her there were 4 of us and although we were close friends, probably didn't want to all stay in a King bed. He suggested we move one of the full mattresses from the non a/c room to the leaking room. She said that was fine, but we would have to move it ourselves. 'Tom in Training' helped us and when we walked into the leaking room, it was not 'all set'. The bed was torn apart, the bathroom was a mess and there was trash cans had very disgusting things in them. Tom apologized profusely and ran around to get us everything we needed to fix up the bed, changed out the trash and got us unused soap. The whole thing actually became quite comical, but I was a still a little miffed that we'd been lied to twice. Selling us a $90 room with no a/c, then moving us into a room that was supposedly clean and set up when it clearly was not. My husband went down to the front desk woman again to explain the price might not be right and she did knock it down to $50. If I were reviewing Tom, he'd definitely get 5 stars. However, the whole experience gets 2 stars. read more

Stopped at the Hays KS Super 8 as it was halfway on my trip. Check in went smoothly and was informed about the $100 smoking charge. (I don't smoke.) Room was very nice and clean. Turned heater on and took shower, then went to bed. Awoke a few hours later (middle of the night) to the smell of cigarette smoke so strong I had to turn the light on to make sure where it was coming from. The heater/air conditioner smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Turned off heater and went back to bed as it was the middle of the night. Got up a few hours later and had the ok complimentary breakfast. Informed the front desk about the smell and they said the heater/ac filter needed changed. (You would think the heater/ac filter would be changed out regularly.) Won't be back to Super 8. read more

Room was clean and beds were comfortable.... breakfast was lacking. Bread for toast, one kind of yogurt, cereal .... not the best smell in the breakfast room. Very loud! Room above us and dogs barking late into the night inside the hotel itself. Meant very little sleep at the end of a long day of driving. We travel through often on the way to Colorado and wouldn't stay here again. Pricey for what you got..... could have stayed in a nicer hotel down the road for the same. read more

I stayed here for one night with my dog on our cross country trek. Room was clean, did not smell like pets, and the air conditioning worked well. It is within walking distance to several restaurants and convenience stores. The front desk staff was accommodating. Breakfast was mediocre, typical of a continental breakfast at a cheap hotel. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay with clean rooms and hot water this is your place. If you're looking for a palace you should look elsewhere. read more

This place just sucks..I say this as I am still here. Walked into the lobby & holy batman my lungs weeped with sadness. My husband & I reserved a nom smoking however that just doesn't work when there are smoking rooms near by. I am allergic to cigarette smoke so it's just awful. The room is pretty clean but the toilet doesn't flush. Because hotels don't have to abide by the Clean air act this will be my last stay in a hotel in Kansas. read more

Stayed at a great Super 8 in Indiana and thought we'd stay at this one as our last stop before Colorado. Reviews on other sites were stellar, so I thought it would be at least as good as the Indiana establishment. No. First, we needed two rooms, and they only had us down for one when we checked in. Thankfully they still had free rooms. Second, the smell of smoke was masked be febreeze or some other such product, which really left an odd odor about the place. Water pressure sucked. The biggest problem is that they allow pets, but do not keep track of which rooms the pets stay in. I.e. there are no pet-free rooms. The "thorough cleaning" was woefully inadequate as I spent the entire night up with watery eyes, scratch throat, etc. Final problem is poor accessibility to outlets, so I could not charge my computer. Outlet was located behind the bed. Cheap rate merits a star. Breakfast was good. Place was clean. No bugs. read more
