The hotel will overbook, leaving you without a room unless you are able to arrive at the front desk at exactly check in time. They will not inform you that there is no room for you until it's too late to make other arrangements. Their solution will be to pay for you to stay at another hotel in another town, 45 min away. However, they will still put a hold on your card and try to charge you for the room. I was alerted after 9:30PM, when I was minutes from the hotel, that they didn't have a room available for me and my child. The staff couldn't understand why I didn't want to drive 45 min to another hotel in hopes that they'd have a room for me. The manager gave me several different stories about how this "error" happened. There is another review posted that's very similar to my experience so this was not an "accidental" situation, but rather, common practice for this establishment. So book here at your own risk!

Upshot is - I think this is a good place and we're very likely to stay here again the next time we're in the Peru, IN area. The hotel is welcoming with a bright, open lobby, good, safe parking and friendly, helpful staff. The lobby was clean and featured a lot of conveniences for which snootier places would charge. Breakfast, as others have mentioned, was a real treat and Nicole was a whirling peach helping everyone out while evincing friendly interest in all guests. Our room was perhaps less perfectly clean than it might have been (either a large white-haired dog or a polar bear had recently been housed there, and housekeeping's noble struggles to mop up all the residue weren't 100% successful) and the bathtub drain was slow and allowed water to pool around my ankles during just a quick shower. Here's the thing, though: we were headed to a wedding shortly after we arrived and were only there for one night. I'm CERTAIN that if I'd mentioned these issues to the folks at the front desk, they would have been rectified tout suite. I didn't, though, because I didn't have the time. (I mentioned them in response to a "How Were Things?" email from management - hey, and that email itself is a great sign, eh? - and got a royal apology and a promise to jump on fixes.) And other family members staying at the Best Western Circus City Inn had nothing but high praise for the cleanliness and functionality of their quarters. Ours was just bad luck - what are you gonna do? It happens. So, while _our_ experience was maybe a little flawed, I think that was unusual and the hotel itself is a solidly good place to stay in Peru.

I recommend Just a short walk to Aroma--try the Lavender Lattee(Oye) ! And the adjacent bakery! Gabriel's has amazing breakfast and Dillinger's was good for dinner. Very spacious with lovely furniture and decor. It's probably the antique-est of the three suites in the house. The Cole Porter Suite has a living room, a little kitchenette, a queen bed in the main area, a second bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom, and a sunroom (I've included pictures). The only thing that was a pinch awkward was the hand shower in the bathtub (and no shower curtain). Some antique charm that was definitely a new experience for us, but we figured it out! We were able to contact the proprietor as soon as we arrived, and he instructed us how to get to our room. We could come and go as we pleased. The only down side was feeling a little distant from him should we need things like extra towels, but he was very nice, and I'm sure he would have come running if we'd had a need. No breakfast is included with your stay at the inn, but the kitchenette has a sink, microwave, coffee maker, and coffee, or Peru has a few local breakfast places that will fit the bill (we liked Aroma downtown for coffee and donuts, or go down U.S. 31 about 15 minutes to Dutch Cafe for a hearty breakfast). The inn was also an easy walk to a few local restaurants for dinner, of which I recommend Club 14 and Voodoo Public House. The neighborhood is filled with historic homes of all shapes and sizes, so even just a walk (or drive!) drive around the neighborhoods in that vicinity was great entertainment. We didn't use the TV while we were there, so I guess my only other complaint would be the Wi-Fi. It's free, which is great, but we barely had a signal, so the router must be pretty far from our upstairs room. So if you need to get work done or have amazing internet access, you won't really get it here (at least not upstairs). But if you want a beautiful place to relax and a home base to check out what Northern Indiana has to offer, this is a great one!

But at 5:00 am I was awakened by planes taking off seemingly directly over the hotel. The employees were very nice, especially the breakfast attendant. The breakfast had a larger variety than most HIE locations. The seating area was fairly crowded with tables and chairs in a small space. My room was clean, the shower looked dirty at first but after examination it seemed to be stained rather than dirty.

On site laundry that uses credit cards only. This is a hotel that has always exceeded expectations. The breakfast offers great rotating selection. You can also pick up a snack bag on the way out in the morning. Cons: Hotel is dated and in need of a remodel. I am told that a renovation is coming soon. The WiFi is good except you have to "renew" daily this is frustrating especially on an extended stay. Many hotels post Covid cut back in the customer service area not here!
