The owner contracted to have the kitchen and master bathroom cabinets sanded and stained. 1. We were told the kitchen cabinets did not need to be emptied. 2. This will only take 4 days. 3. We tried to contact the contractor to inform them we wouldn't be available until 930am day one. No call back, and they showed up at 8am day one. End of day one I come home to find the kitchen cabinets, stove, microwave, and refrigerator masked off. Our kitchen table, and my grandmothers antique hutch are not covered. The cabinet doors are stacked against my grandmothers antique hutch. There is no dust barrier between the kitchen and the rest of the house. I contact the management company to complain specifically about the dust barrier and not covering the kitchen table and hutch. Day two the management company responds that they are contacting the contractor and will let us know what they hear back. About 1130am day two, a dust barrier goes up, the kitchen table, and hutch get covered. The contractor had already finished sanding in the kitchen and started the staining at this point in the day. The chemical smell from the stain is very strong. So strong that we opened every available door and turned on all fans to help clear the air. It is the end of December the week between Christmas and New years. current high is 57 with rain, and the low was already in the 40's. Day three the SO comes home after a doctors appointment to find the contractor working in the master bathroom. A dust barrier has been set up between the master bathroom and master bedroom. In this house there is no door between the two, only a small hallway and access to the master closet. This dust barrier does indeed block off the master bedroom, but was open to the open door'd master closet. Such great care was taken to set up dust barrier that funneled the sanding dust directly into our closet of clean cloths. I come home end of day three to a house that is so smelly with chemicals that we again opened all doors, and got out extra fans to try to clear the air before bedtime. This is when I find the pictured damage to my Grandmother antique hutch. I reached out to the management company again concerning the damage to the hutch. Day four is today as I write this review. Today the clear coat goes on, and apparently it is even smellier than the stain. We were told the contractor will have to return for a day five to finish the work being done. What you can expect: Bad communications. Poor workmanship in covering and protecting the customers possessions. Damage to your possessions. Finally, complete lack of care to a simple detail like putting up a dust barrier between an area being sanded and the rest of the living space.
