I don't write many Yelp reviews but this was my favorite restaurant in the southern hemisphere... Well, the only country I've been to in the southern hemisphere is New Zealand but it was my favorite meal there. Located in the middle of the port of Christchurch the menu is an inventive collection of dishes that combine Polynesian, Japanese, and a few other Asian elements. The service is extremely helpful, low key, and charming. (And very helpful with dietary restrictions.). Decor is interesting and a bit quirky. A little bit of a young vibe, but I'm not young and still felt very welcome. Standout dishes: Ika mata (close to a ceviche), fried bread (yes, really), and the Yakiniku charred vegetables. read more
